We found this gem thru the Yelp reviews. We were heading north on I 79 and hungry and I needed something gluten free. Pulled pork sandwiches were delicious ( mine was just the pork). The baked beans were good and piping hot. The coleslaw was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. All in all, it was a really terrific lunch. It is in an old mall and bit hard to find, but well worth it!!!!! Also a much better choice for a quick lunch than the typical fast food chains!

Come eat here! We want them to succeed so we can enjoy the food for years to come. Inside the mountaineer mall by tele tec. Authentic BBQ for a great price. Order the 3 meat combo and split it! You won't be disappointed

Other than it being a bit difficult to find, This was one of the better BBQ joints I have been to. Since it was my first time there they explained how they made everything, how they make the sides fresh each day and how they smoke the meat. They were helpful and nice. The food was delicious. Sauce was great, sides were good and the meat was delicious. Gonna go back one day!

Best BBQ in Morgantown! Hands down! The meat is all perfectly smoked and tender. The pulled pork beans and the cream corn are excellent. The portions are huge so be ready to eat. They staff are all excellent, and you can get it delivered on OrderUp.com if you don't feel like driving. A must try!

Brisket and pulled pork are melt in your mouth good. The beans and green bean sides are my favorites. There are no vegetarian option here. Everything has bacon or other yummy meat flavour. It is in the sad mall so everybody has to drive there. There is seating but it is really a take out place and they close by 7 pm.

BEST BBQ IN MORGANTOWN. Its not even close, this is the best smoked meats you will find in Morgantown. This was my first visit. I'd heard about it, wanted to try it, was on that side of town and figured I'd hunt them down. It is in a very odd location, in the old Morgantown Mall. Its surreal walking through there, like the mall had died long ago but nobody has bothered to close the doors. I imagine Woodburn Shanks is basically just trying to feed the Mylan folks and the other handful of businesses there at lunch; I could see this being a sound business model. Hopefully they will put themselves up in another, more accessible location, but its worth the walk through the dead mall. Because this is how BBQ is supposed to be. I got there at 1pm so they probably cleaned out most of their lunch stock already. My guess is they smoke overnight and in the morning, serve it at lunch, then clean up and prep for the next day and sell the leftovers until they close up. And that is how it is done if you are doing it right. The women at the counter were very polite and helpful. I asked about the brisket and was told they only had enough for a sandwich. I just wanted the meat, and they happily sold it to me. I also got a pound of pulled pork. Personally, I don't care about sandwiches or sides or whatever, I can deal with that on my own. So this review is just on the meat itself. The brisket was fantastic, sliced proper and not pulled or shredded like some other places seem to think is ok. The pulled pork was PULLED, not a shredded soggy mess. The meat was just beautiful. It was clear that this was recently taken from the smoker, probably sitting in a hot box for a bit until it was served. Many places will let it sit in a steam table all day, which will dry it out quickly or turn it into a soggy mush. Not here. By the time I got it home and ate it, it was starting to dry out a little bit. But that just says to me that it hadn't been cooled and reheated or left in the steam table. I'm guessing that it got pulled from the smoker around 9 or 10 this morning so by the time I got into it, after driving for another half hour, naturally it is starting to dry out. Not a lot mind you. But thats just what meat does. Other places will serve the leftovers from the days before, where its been cooled and reheated (I know, I've worked in those kitchens). This meat was clearly from todays pull. The smoke and rub were spot on, although personally I could have used a little more rub, but thats just how I do it. Nor was it oversmoked as some places might do it, the meats only need a couple hours of smoke even if they cook overnight. There was a nice smoke ring on the brisket, meaning they are cooking with actual wood or charcoal fuel and not an electric smoker (unless they are cheating by adding NO2 but I seriously doubt that). In other words, they are doing it right. This is competition level BBQ, right here in Morgantown. There were 4 sauces to choose from, including a vinegar sauce. I don't much care for sauce except a little vinegar to cut through any fattiness, but they were all solid. I can't speak to the sides either, as I didn't have them, but if they are half as good as the meat, they will be great. So I'll say it again, BEST BBQ IN MORGANTOWN. They are doing it right. I'd advise going early, before noon, to get the best of the batch. I will definitely be going back.

Pretty good BBQ in a horrible location inside the saddest mall. I had some of every meat and they were all delish as were the sauces.

I spoke with Tee, the manager and Derrick the owner of Woodburn Shanks Pit BBQ. They were both so wonderful and helpful. I was sending dinner to a friend in Morgantown, I am in Florida (not an easy task). I had no idea what to expect, and I had my concerns being that they are based in the food court at the mall. I read the reviews and it seemed like they knew what they were doing. So, I explained my situation to Tee, who had me speak directly to Derrick. Derrick helped get what I needed and even told me that he would deliver it himself. I was anxious to hear what the people who I sent dinner to thought. They contacted me asking where it was from bc it was sooooo good! I am sure they will end up going to Woodburn Shanks in the future and if I ever find myself in West Virginia I will too! A big thank you to Tee and Derrick.

Some of the best bbq in town. If you like smoke then definitely check this place out. The pulled pork, brisket, and chicken are all great. They have 3 sauce options which are all phenomenal. Not much seating options and kind of strange location inside the Mountaineer Mall, but this place is definitely worth the visit!

The best barbecue in Morgantown without a doubt. I worked within walking distance for a few months and ate here a couple times a week. The meat is always perfectly smoked and not over-cooked, and the sides are fresh and original. The sauces they offer all have great taste. The best part about this place is it offers an affordable meal that also tastes amazing. Keep up the good work and I'll be back as often as I can!

I made a Yelp account just to give this place 5 stars. Best BBQ in Morgantown by a million miles. The pulled pork with sweet BBQ sauce was out of control, and the baked beans were about as good as it gets. Can't wait to go back and eventually try everything on the menu. The ONLY drawback is the location and hours. Morgantown mall is a barren wasteland, they'd make a killing on high street. They probably do good with the lunch crowd considering the businesses at that location, though.

Truly the best BBQ in all of Morgantown! Seek out this hidden gem in the Mountaineer Mall and you will return again and again... I have!

Great BBQ in the most unusual place yet worth the trip. My favorite is the pulled pork with the Carolina sauce however; I haven't had anything there that isn't good. I've compared it to other local restaurants, BBQ and not BBQ, and so far this is the best food in town. My opinion....you'd be hard pressed to find anything better anywhere close.

The staff was friendly. the chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, cheesy corn , and sweet carrots were all very good. The only negative thing are the hours if u don't work on that side of town it's hard to catch them and they are not opened on weekends! But if you can make it in during 11-2 mon - thurs you will not be disappointed with the food!
