Let me just add that I have been harassed by someone connected with the restaurant for my negative review. Well, that's certainly easier than improving a lousy restaurant! Good for you, Rio Grande III. If you are looking for Mexican in Morgantown, I would recommend Mariachi Loco, near the Wal-Mart, as well as Chico's Fat (more Cali-style).

This used to be my favorite place in Mo-Town to eat. I recently stopped by and I was dismayed to see how much this place has changed, and not for the better. In fact, both Tex-Mex restaurants that I used to frequent and love in the area have both had detectable changes in food quality, taste and service. The service was deplorable, the young lady we encountered as our waitress was brusk and was consistently annoyed (At what we don't know. Maybe she had a bad day?). We asked for a cheese dip, and she rolled her eyes us! It took awhile to get refills and she made sure that we knew it was inconvenient for her to do so. I ordered my old favorite, the Shrimp Quesadilla, it was okay, it used to be fantastic. My mother ordered a combo platter, she didn't finish it. I don't know if it was ambience or the flavor of the food, but something was not the same about RG. I don't live here anymore, so I don't have to fret much over it. There are other places in Morgantown to get your quasi Tex-Mex on.

I have lived in several different states including the majority of my life in Texas. I personally think this place is pretty good although not as cheap as Texas. Staff is primarily Hispanic which I also appreciate even as as an Anglo Texan. One reviewer said they were disappointed as they had grown up in Colorado. Perhaps that is true. But I spent 5 years in castle rock co as well. For that reviewer to believe dining here is a mistake, well I appreciate the opinion. But moving from Colorado to Morgantown? Well credibility is compromised by that decision! I like this place! We Are????? MARSHALL!!!!!!

A friend of mine contracted human papillomavirus from the bathroom of Rio Grande II in Beckley WV. Fortunately for us, this is Rio Grande III. The waiters are mostly hipsters but they treat you right and never let the chips bowl go empty. The salsa might be a little watery but it only adds to the experience. The bathrooms are probably cleaned once a week but I still wouldn't risk it. If you catch a funk from the toilets at Rio Grande 3 don't say I didn't warn ya. They accept all the major credit cards (even American Express). They also accept travelers checks. For a good time order the chille relleno but remember to specify Mexican or American editions or they will bring you a plate of slop as a joke. I would recommend this place to most people as a joke.

The food is very good and fast. If my family is starving we go there after church. We have been there so much the waiters recognize us. Prices are better at lunch than dinner.

Salsa tasted weird like it was made with ketchup, bland food and menu has no pork or seafood

I don't understand the negative reviews. my wife and I live just down the street and this is our most frequented restaurant. I brought my mom here from out of town and she said this was the best Mexican she ever had! That's saying a lot because we eat a lot of Mexican.

This place was "meh," your typical "Mexican" food place, with lots of food smashed together on a plate. The server also hit on my best friend, which was weird.

The page owners need to correct that address, it is not Elk Rd. Just like Los Mariachis, this place has great chips and salsa. The rice and beans are OK, and I had the veggie fajitas, which come with flour tortillas (not sure if they have corn but I didn't ask, but should have, I would have preferred corn tortillas). The veggie fajitas was a mix of grilled tomato, bell pepper and onion, not bad actually. The menu is also the same as Los Mariachis.

Not really much to say. Unlimited chips, cheese, hot sauce, and super fast food =)

I try to make Rio a stop when I'm in Morgantown. The enchiladas and fajitas are the menu standouts. I'm a fan of the Vegetarian #5 as well. The service here is super fast and they pour a strong margarita. If you're expecting authentic Mexican food this might not be your place. A previous reviewer complained about their guacamole but it says on the menu "guacamole dip" which if I saw on a menu I'd expect there to be sour cream in it...especially for under $4.00. I've never seen ketchup in the salsa either. I'm headed there tomorrow and will update if ketchup appears. This is greasy cheesy deliciousness in large portions. I'm a fan.

I have had many good times here! Great food margaritas rock here. My fav is chicken burritos cheesy goodness. When I make it back to my home town there I always hit rio up. Alex is a great waiter my husband thinks he is like speedy gonzals. They are attentive and love their customers. Bathrooms always clean. Lots of tables. Great bar with smoking on this side till the law changes. You are guaranteed to share great times, drinks, and yummy food!

One star doesn't even begin to describe how much I dislike Rio Grande. Maybe I'm spoiled, having grown up in Colorado and visiting often after having moved to Morgantown, but this doesn't even pass for Mexican food. Really, the only thing that Rio has going for it is that it appears authentic, the food is cheap, and the margaritas come in big pitchers. I eat Mexican food because I like the taste, though, and for what it's worth, I'd rather make it myself than ever eat here again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
