I have to say this place is a gem, the food was amazing, it should be 5 stars, but we were asked if we want chips and they weren't complimentary... they were $5. Good Lord thats a lot of money. Ok, the chips and salsa were on point and probably the best I have had in the East Coast. Make sure you try the tomatillo salsa, it was so fresh and so good. I went with a carne asada salad and of course ordered more salsa to add to my salad, which was fantastic and of course I was charged $1 for an extra side of Tomatillo and Pico de Gallo. The meal was still very reasonable, but I do hate being nickel and dimed...This being said, the food is so good I would come back here again and pay the extra money for the salsa.

I'm not a big fan of Mexican and this place reminds me of why. The best thing consumable here is Patron. The Chili on the nachos is straight out of a can. Nachos are soggy. Yawn. The beers I asked for were unavailable even though on the menu. The owner hovers over his staff and talks over them when they interact with customers. Yawn. What a bore. Our waitress / bartender is nice though. We tried to go to Stardust Cafe, but every seat was full. We'll wait in line there next time instead of paying for over-priced Taco Bell.

Food was fine but it was probably the most unpleasant experience my family has ever had while dining out. We witnessed the owner in a verbal argument with a server at the bar. He said if she couldn't handle it then she shouldn't work there. Her response was that she could, because she's done it for two years. The whole confrontation happened in front of everyone. This aside, the entire time we were there the whole staff was screaming "who has table xx?" rather than attending to the customers and providing service in a timely manner. It was super awkward. It may have been an off day but this experience was definitely terrible enough that we'll never go back.

The food is great! Every dish I've gotten here, I've been 3 times, has had wonderful Spanish spices, specifically the black bean soup. Unfortunately, there are no local ingredients used and I'm not sure our waitress knew where the meats originated. To compete with Lewisburg's other options, I would rank it below Stardust, Stella's and GV baking co., but above Food & Friends, The Livery and The Asylum. To be quite honest, I'm not into chain restaurant flavor and style of cuisine like F&F or the Livery's approach of overpricing. I give Del Sol 3 stars specifically because it's lack of sourcing local options, though the flavor trumps any restaurant of the same style (Spanish/mex) for miles and the prices are quite comforting.

We ate there last night we thought service was going to start off great...wrong went down hill quickly. She started out by know exactly what liquors thy had when and got our drinks, then she didn't come back to our table till I went an got her and suggested that she ask to refill our drinks. Nothing makes and evening go more sour than bad service! I had fish tacos, they were average at best. My husband had the chili rellenos. Somehow thy still had the stem in one and the rice that come with his was well under cooked it was still crunchy. I can tell you the only thing i really enjoyed was the pomengranite Moscow mule when my cup wasn't empty and waiting...

Had the shrimp and beef fajitas which is something I don't normally order but it was really great. I also ordered the French 75 which was a drink made with Hendricks gin and prosecco which was also really good.

This place is a little gem. We took a drive to Lewisburg on a snowy day, and after some fun exploring the area, we stopped here for a late lunch. It wasn't very busy, probably because of the bad weather. But they were indeed open for business. Our waitress sat us at a cozy table. My fella had the black bean burger, and I had the 3 salad plate (I chose house salad, chicken salad, and black bean salad). Both meals were very fresh and delicious. Service was very friendly and helpful, and prices were quite reasonable. We would not hesitate to dine here again when in the area.

The guacamole is always great, tastes like it is made minutes before it is brought to our table. Great fish dishes, mahi @ cod, and tacos are the specialty. Would recommend to sit at the bar, if there is any seats available, and you'll get great service. Service is good here and the kitchen is well organized.

We stopped in at the suggestion of a family member and he was absolutely correct.....the food and service here are great!!!! Great option for foodies and vegetarians!!!! Give it a try....we will definitely be returning!!!!

Amazing service. The menu, especially lunch-suitable options, could use some work. The pairings of what comes with salsa and guac vs. beans and rice vs. other options also seems nonsensical and just needs standardized. The interior is a bit outdated and drab and seems like it has a lot of wasted space. The patio is cute, but the setup is not because you have people constantly walking through it to go in the front door. The food was outstanding. I had the chicken quesadilla, and they added spinach to it for me, as requested. It was grilled to crisp perfection, and everything melted together for a great flavor combo. The black beans inside are a nice touch. My only complaint would be that the dollop of guac was too small to spread throughout the entire entree. Prices are reasonable for the Lewisburg area. I would go here again, but maybe for dinner more so than lunch.

We sat on their patio for dinner and even though it was close to the street it seemed relaxing and good people watching. Hubby started with a Margarita and he was a little disappointed that it seemed to be from a mix. It's always a bummer when you have to pay for chips, but the guacamole and queso cheese were good and it is a large basket of chips, so we were happy with it. I had the shrimp fajitas and thought they were really good. I loved the fact that it had lots of red and green bell peppers as well as tomatoes and onions. Hubby had the beef with chimichurri and thought his meat was a little overdone. Overall, I would say we would give it another try.

To give them some credit, we were here twice on our visit to WV. The first time was fine, the tacos were good, and it has a cute patio. The 2nd time everything about the experience was horrible. It was a very busy night, & the whole restaurant was packed, but it was probably the worst service I've ever experienced. Our server took forever bringing the chips and salsa (that you pay for!) and our drinks, and we were immediately ready to order. About 30 minutes after taking our order, she came and said "your food will be right out." We knew it was busy so it was fine. She then came back 5 minutes later and said the kitchen got mixed up and your food will be another 20-30 minutes. ?!?!? How do you go from "your food will be right out" to waiting another 30 min (about an hour from when we ordered)? She never offered a refill of chips and salsa while we waited for the mixup, and when we asked to speak to a manager she said there wasn't one available to speak to. To make matters worse, when the food came out it was cold. We asked to speak to a manager again and when she refused again, we asked for the tacos that were cold to be taken off the bill. She did that, but she wasn't helpful at all and didn't seem to care or understand how bad our experience was. It seemed like the management let the place get way too busy and wasn't able to handle it.

Try the melon sangria. Lots of other flavors available. Food is always good, hot and reasonably priced. Nice patio too.

This is a regular place of mine. I've tried most of the menu and everything is wonderful. I especially recommend the Del Sol chicken salad, the Mahi Mahi plate, and the soft shell tacos. People in these reviews who think this is just a Mexican restaurant are underexposed. It is Latin fusion and it is authentic. Most locals are regulars here and it deserves a higher rating!

We've been to Del Sol more than any other restaurant in Lewisburg since moving to the area several months ago. We love the food, the service and the friendly ambience. Everything we've had there is very good, but we especially like the chicken and carne asada tacos. My husband has become a big fan of the Shotgun Wedding beer, which has usually been available when we've been there. The owner is customarily on the premises and checks in with customers frequently to make sure they're enjoying their meals. They have a nice outdoor patio with a fire pit, and we're looking forward to eating outside when the weather warms up!

Best value in Lewisburg The food quality is excellent The price is low Portions large

  • Joseph B.

Everything about Del Sol is perfect, except the price and the service... well and the food. During my visit the staff seemed inexperienced and inattentive. We put in a to go order during our appetizer - it came out before the rest of our food. Also our meal came out in takeout containers even though were were eating in. Food is standard for most Mexican joints but the cheapest entree is $9. I do have to compliment the iced tea, perfect!

  • Heather K.

Well that sucks. Good service really enhances a place's ratings, or just kills it. This lady just doesn't want to be here and she lets you know she really hates serving you. Too bad. The drinks are GREAT. When you can get one! It's not even very busy in here. I just got my 2nd drink, no lime, thank you very much. Didn't even look at me.

  • Jeanne C.

Love the great service & diverse menu offered. We've not had anything here that we didn't like. Lots of space between tables so you're not sitting on top of each other inside and a beautiful fenced patio for dining al fresco.

stopped in on Saturday for a late lunch and really enjoyed the beef quesadillas. Very good! Alpha Blonde West Virginia craft beer on tap. I enjoy Del Sol more each time I visit and think it is the best in Lewisburg for variety, quality and value.

Del Sol has really become my favorite place to eat in downtown Lewisburg. They have a varied menu ranging from Mexican inspired to classic bar fare like pizza and wings. Everything is consistently good. Their draft beer selection is ever-changing and always full of great local brews. Service is usually okay, but I'm not picky. Definitely the best bang for your buck downtown.

  • Jennifer J.

My husband and travel to this area several times a year to see family and were interested in trying Del Sol. It started out good with the empanadas but the rest of the meal was meh and the Pino Grigio the serve (only one choice) was poor and $7. Waitress offered another glass of something else but charged for both in the end saying they had just opened the Pino bottle and it had to be good. Service otherwise was poor - plenty of waitresses were there but busier rolling up flatware in napkins and talking to each other than checking on guests. Had to flag the waitress down to get a refill of water. With the choices in Lewisburg, not going back to Del Sol.

  • Kevin T.

After sitting down at the bar, I have waited almost 30 minutes and still had not been asked what food I would like to order. After I finally pulled a bar tender aside to get my order in, I waited even longer for my food to come to find out part of my order was not even in yet because they forgot to ask me what meat I wanted. Not the best bar service; I can say that for sure.

  • Gil G.

Food was average. Service was weak. Prices were fair. Too loud to have a viable conversation.

Fun place, very crowded ad pretty sketchy service. Food was good, though..and it was Thanksgiving time.

    (3)
  • wolf t.

A dark & stormy is not made with ginger ale. Cheddar cheese is not orange. The bartender can't make a mojito. Pulled pork sandwiches should not have coleslaw on them. Hot wings should be spicy. If this were a downscale roadhouse, these lapses would be acceptable. But this place fancies itself hip. Keep it simple and you'll be ok.

  • Richard D.

Tony runs a great bar and serves up the best Mexican in the area. The word 'authentic' comes to mind, but its been so butchered by the 'chop meat and salsa' chains i hesitate. Tony serves up a fresh, clean tasting, Santa Fe style that just tastes REAL. Very reasonably priced, great wait staff. Sit on the patio and watch the town of lewisburg pass you by.

The food here was very good and quite reasonably priced. We had mahi mahi tacos and the chicken salad, both to be recommended. Service was a little slow.

Unexpected find in small town WV. I was very hungry but this may be the best Mexican food I have had, which is a compliment because I live and Florida and have been to Texas often where Mexican restaurants are all over the place. Everything is high quality and made with fresh ingredients. You have to pay for chips and salsa but it was worth it especially with the fresh guacamole as queso dip. In our party we had tacos, chimichangas, enchiladas and other traditional favorites. All were great and were made with tasty spices and flavors and it was clear that they took care to do it right rather than just slapping them together. They also have great looking salads, unique pizzas and other items which all sounded great.

  • Kitty C.

I was to excited to have some Mexican food downtown, but the food was mediocre (raw corn tortillas on a taco? really?) and the service may have been the worst I've ever experienced.

    (2)
  • Robert G.

I've never had better beef fajitas, and the drinks were full strength, maybe past full strength. The wait staff was friendly and well-trained; had it all together in spite of being very busy.

    (4)
  • Rebecca H.

The attempt at Mexican food is exciting. I want it to be good. But (as another reviewer mentioned, and I've heard other people in town mention) there are some lapses -- like raw corn tortillas for tacos. (Really? Have you ever tried to eat a raw corn tortilla? It's not edible.) And the super-slow service.

Del Sol is a cute loungy type of bar. I really enjoyed hanging with my bf. We had a couple of beers before we had to head out. Still I can wait to visit again. The bartendar was great and $3 draft beers =goldmine LOL

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
