Service was very attentive to the table. Restaurant is clean with a nice atmosphere. Margarita was good, free chips with salsa. Would come back.

Went back a few days ago. When I ordered a salad with my seafood fajita, the waiter suggested that I didn't need it. He was right, and he was attentive throughout. Best seafood fajita that I've ever had. Good michelada. Great service. This place gets another star. 5 wouldn't make sense for a place that does no more than do a very good job of the usual. That said, I'll be back.

We stopped in to Las Trancas for dinner last weekend while driving through west Virginia based on all of the positive Yelp reviews, and this is one of the few times that Yelp has let me down. We arrived Friday night around 6:30 and it was quite busy. Since we didn't want to wait for a table we opted to sit at the bar. The bar was covered with dirty dishes, so we started moving them out of our way and bussing the area ourselves. There was a dish cloth sitting on the bar so we used that to wipe the are down. One of the employees walked past us several times while we were doing that and made no effort to help or indicate that he would have someone do it for us. Then the bartender proceeded to walk past us several times and completely ignore us. No I'll be right with you, no acknowledgement that we were there at all. He finally came over and was friendly and took our drink orders. The default size for drinks appears to be GIANT. I ordered a top shelf margarita and my DH order a draught beer and both were enormous. On the plus side, the margarita was pretty tasty and was not weak, it had a good kick. The chips were not very good, but the salsa was nice and spicy and tasty. For food, I had the burrito combo that came with a carnitas burrito and a carne asada burrito. My DH got one of their combo plates with a chili rellano, and enchilada and a taco. My burritos had an ok flavor, but I had a huge hunk of fat in the carnitas. Yuck. DH's chili rellano was almost all breading and his other items were so-so. The entire time we were eating there were little bugs flying around us and landing on our napkins and around us. I was surprised since i had remembered at least one of the reviews talking about it being clean. The worst part though was when I woke up in the middle of the night dripping in sweat and sick to my stomach. i have no doubt it was from my dinner at Las Trancas. The next time we are in the area we will go to our Old Standby - Panera!

Las Trancas is one of the highest reviews in Clarksburg, so this seemed to be a good sign for good food. Unfortunately, quality always overrule quantity. We were seated immediately and got our chips and salsa just as quickly. The menu is overwhelming and seems to serve your basic foods that you would see anywhere else. I ordered a ground beef enchilada which comes with rice and beans. The rice and beans were very bland. It needed more of an oomph to it. The enchiladas were the same as well. There wasn't a wow factor, and I'm sure my Banquet frozen meals taste better. To added more flavor in my meal, I used the salsa to spread it around which made it bearable to eat. There was nothing special about Las Trancas. It's a basic restaurant with your basic food. I was a fan of their chips and salsa which makes it sad.

Great food when you dine in and our server was great but I don't recommend take out. No utensils and my food was ruined by the way it was placed in containers.

Las Trancas is decent Mexican. They have a lunch special taco salad that costs 5 or so bucks. This is a pretty good deal. It was definitely not the best taco salad I've ever had but I suppose you get what you pay for. It was worth the price.

4 of us went in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Seated immediately and left to peruse the menu. It was very extensive and I had a difficult time deciding. But, after some thought, I went with a combo dinner of burritos and a taco. I also ordered an unsweet ice tea. Chips and salsa show up. Nothing special but not bad. Sweet tea shows up and it almost gags me. Send it back and ask again for unsweet. Unsweet returns. Lunch shows up. Presentation was fine, food was just OK. A person in my party received the wrong food and had to ask twice to get the right food, and then once again to get the right quantity of said food. The biggest problem we encountered was the lack of English that our waiter could speak, or even understand. I realize this is a Mexican restaurant in back asswards WV, so that in itself doesn't make much sense. But what I cant fathom is that you are in the service industry and in the USA. Not Mexico. Speak English or get the hell out. If the owners think this is acceptable then they should have no problem accepting the bad reviews.

The food is okay, but the service is terrible. I've been here twice, and I would choose the other mexican restaurant simply for the better service.

I had Chori Pollo (rice topped with grilled chicken breast, Mexican sausage and covers with cheese with guacamole and sour cream), Kelly had Chimichanga with chicken, rice, sour cream, guacamole and chess, and Matt had the Huevos Rancheros. Great prompt service. Fabulous food.

Finding decent ethnic food in West Virginia is a bit of a challenge. I love the hell out of Mexican food, but not the typical Americanized Mexican fare. I'm talking carne asada tacos. Tamales. Molcajetes. That kind of stuff. Las Trancas was by no means perfect but it did suffice for good Mexican fare in my one-month stopover in Clarksburg. The food was decent food. They had pretty tasty carne asada tacos and even had my all time favorite, tamales. The tamales were a bit on the small side and I didn't really care for the flavorless red sauce but the tamales themselves were good. As far as the atmosphere, while the wait staff speaks Spanish and feels authentic, there is a lot of kitsch. The service was good and the food decent - I'd go back if I needed to sate my Mexican fix.

Great salsa. Entres are tasty and timely. The chips keep flowing, and value is quite good.

The chorrizo is very flavorful. Staff is quick and very playful. Don't care for the guacomole though. Anything else, wonderful.

I was a long time fan of competitor El Ricon, but I will only eat at Las Truncas from now on. Both have excellent food, the difference is in how clean and inviting Las Truncas is. The atmosphere and service is so far ahead of the competitors it will not be long before El Ricon is forced to change or close. 1/2 price margaritas MON, WED....awesome!!

Ok, their place is nice and well lit and the servers were polite, but the food was just shy of being "bad" It seems they think more cilantro means "mexican"

This is the best Tex/Mex Mexican restaurant in the area. This is shown by the fact that there will be a line out the door waiting to be seated at dinner time. Even so I try to stop in here every time I am in town. Their dining area is huge with lots of tables and booths. The bar is semi closed off to allow for smoking. The food is very fresh, well spiced, with good sized portions and cheap! The two of us ate dinner for $20. The chili rellenos are huge and bursting with cheese. Their complimentary salsa and chips are fresh and great, the salsa itself has nice heat to it but is not over-powering. What really makes this place stand out though is the awesome staff. They are courteous, quick, and super attentive. We never had to wait for refills or plates being cleared. They are like polite food ninjas. There in a split second with what you need and then *poof* gone. So you don't feel pressured or like they are hoovering. I really enjoy eating here and it is worth the wait to get seated.

Nice and clean - I don't like I'm in Tijuanna when I go there to eat. The staff is super friendly. The salsa is sometimes too "limey", but the everything is fairly good and well prepared. The food quality differs between weekday lunch and dinner - dinner is much better!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
