A really good buffet and super affordable. We've been there twice this week.

Their employees are fantastic. They are extremely attentive and eager to serve. Their buffet was mediocre. Some of the items were fresh, some not so much. That is to be expected with a buffet, as the freshness of the food is dependant on the amount of people currently in the restaurant. If it is busy they will be pushing out more food. If it is slower, they don't need to update the food as quickly. The buffet did have a decent amount of diversity for the size of the restaurant.

Probably the best Chinese food around. Haven't had the buffet yet as I always get takeout. Sometimes the chicken and broccoli has a little too much sauce in it but that's probably my only complaint. I really like the beef and broccoli; always fresh and delicious. Management is also friendly. Takeout usually is ready within 5-10 minutes after I arrive and order.

Best general Asian restaurant in the South Charleston/Charleston area. The buffet is what is it. Can be hit or miss, but my daughter and I love it and are regular customers. The selection is excellent, the stuffed mushrooms and jalapeno chicken are very good. There's always a decent selection of types of chicken, pepper steak, salmon, noodles, rice, etc. There are options for kids, mac and cheese, potatoes, jello, ice cream, etc. It's reasonably priced and a good buffet. Certainly there are hours when it is busier and will be fresher, but they will make something fresh upon request, and there are always good options to choose from. The real gem is ordering off the menu though. When you do that, you are assured some of the best quality Chinese you will get anywhere. We go around twice a month, and I have yet to see anything near as bad as some of the reviews I've read on here. We also frequent Grano, Pho, Yen's, Taste of Asia... I live not far from "downtown" South Charleston and am very pleased to have so many non-corporate, owner operated choices so close to home.

Best Chinese around. Buffett is outstanding. Pricing is fair and they deliver almost anywhere. We eat from Main Tin all the time.

I hate doing this, but it has to be done. We went around 5:30pm yesterday and was there for a little over an hour due to them not bringing out any food. It took that long to try and get something to eat. At this point they care more about their carry out or delivery than their dine in customers. I understand this is a buffet situation, bit we are still paying customers and want what we are paying for. Even saw a couple of guys get fed up after going up to the buffet and say forget it and walked out. I want everyone to know this, if they have food out it is great, but if you dine their during non peak hours they have nothing and you can ask all you want for food and they will never bring it. I gave two stars cause what we did eat was good. :(

Decent Chinese buffet, but the food is hit or miss. You stand the best chance of getting tasty food if you go at lunch (11:30-12:30). This us a good choice if you need a quick lunch. However, if you have time the other Chinese restaurant just a few doors down is better...although not a buffet.

Don't go...! Very very bad ! Cold poor quality food on buffet. Used to be good but not anymore.

Yes I know it's a buffet. And I'm fully aware that it's not "real" Chinese food. Be that as it may, the food is wonderful, the staff is amazing, and the selection is always diverse despite the relatively small size. You can't go wrong here.

We love Main Tin. They have tons of options, are usually pretty fresh, and have the best wait staff you'll find at a chinese buffet. Where else can you find this selection of good sushi included in the buffet? We've since moved away from Charleston, but every time we come back to visit, Main Tin is ALWAYS on the list of things that we have to do.

Okay! So I got wonton soup and General Tso's to go. The staff is SUPER friendly. The food was awesome, and you got a lot. I got the lunch special which was like $6. I did not see/eat at it, but they do have a buffet here. And they are open on Labor Day ^_^ I'll definitely eat here again.

Fairly Average Chinese buffet with some of the worst sushi I have ever tried. I went here because someone in our party said this was her favorite restaurant in town....when I asked her if she had been to other Chinese places...she told me she had not....hmm? I suspect that her opinion is based upon a limited frame of reference. To be fair, I may have gone on an off day....and I have not tried other Chinese places in Charleston either... so this may be the bomb to the locals but something tells me that there has got to be something better than this....I sure hope so for the people of Charleston's sake.

Best Chinese food in the valley. Love their steamed dumplings and their sesame balls! Staff is super nice, buffet has a lot of choices, including sushi, and the price is reasonable.

I'm posting this again since my review doesn't seem to be here. The food was decent, reasonably priced and came 20 minutes faster than promised. Solid value.

Not great, but it's the only Chinese buffet I will eat. Take out is decent.

The best Asian restaurant in Charleston, which makes it likely it's the best Asian in all of West Virginia. Matter of fact, I have yet to find a restaurant here in Columbus that I like as much as Main Tin. This used to be a really tiny spot with about ten tables. A few years ago they were able to use their success to expand and put in a buffet. When you order the buffet the quality sinks to that of any Chinese buffet you've ever been to. If you want to see how good they can really cook order something off the menu for them to cook fresh. They'll inevitably ask you "you don't like buffet?" (they always ask me this). Oh, little known fact: their Dr. Pepper is perfectly carbonated and is the best fountain Dr. Pepper in the world.

Not too bad. Generally speaking (as with most buffets) your best bet is to come right after a rush time when the food is really fresh. To be honest, I only go for the crab rangoon and those nifty little red-bean desserts (Gross!, you scream, but they're really very good)

After eating at China Gourmet on my last trip, I had written Charleston off as a place to eat Chinese food but this place is a keeper! Wonderfully-prepared and perfectly-cooked American-style Chinese food (with a very nice smattering of Japanese). Take my advice (married to a Chinese and lived in China), eat here.

Best Chinese buffet around. My family and I go there often and they know us and treat us like family

Typical crappy asian food. Personally I think the food court in the mall is better. The food had no flavor and I had to put soy sauce on just for a little flavor. The dining room was dated. The bathroom was filthy and disgusting with feces on the wall and toilet unflushed and had no soap to wash your hands. They didn't have menus available and they didn't give a receipt. I had no idea on the price of the food I ordered because there was no menu. It was so horrible. I don't care to ever go back. EVER!

Great buffet - good linch spot - fast service!

Maybe I got the wrong things, but I felt like the food could have been much better at this restaurant, especially considering the price. I'd honestly rather eat at a cheap "Win Wok" or "Dragon's Court" over this place. I've had great high class Chinese before and this is not it.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
