Wow this place is great! What a nice surprise to find so many vegetarian and vegan options. We got the salsa sampler and the chips were fresh and the perfect thickness. For entrees we each had burritos with tofu. They were delicious! Highly recommend.

Good ol Blacksheep! What a great spot to grub in Charleston. I would have to say one of my favorites in town. For some reason I didn't finish the review and now I feel bad because the bartender was amazing and I cant remember his name. The beer selection here is perfect as well, you have to love a good local craft beer. Stop wasting your time reading this and go already!

Our waiter George (with the beard!) was phenomenal. I'm not prone to dramatic exaggerations, but hands down the best waiter we've ever had. The food was salivating, the atmosphere was delightful (outdoor patio with live music inside), and the price was low for the quality. We didn't go for drinks since we were exhausted. I'll recommend this place to anyone going through the area. Hope to return someday!

Attached to the local brewery. Enough said for any craft beer folk. If you are more concerned with the food I can give it a thumbs up for that too. And a friendly and laid back atmosphere that doesn't sacrifice prompt and efficient service either. You have to stop here if you are spending any time in this town. The beers on tap are 9 rotating brews from the brewery you can see through a wall of windows. Solid food. I had a burrito with tofu and chipotle sauce, and it was delicious though the tofu was just kind of stuck in without anything exceptional about its preparation. Despite that it was delicious all together and really filling -- and the half I didn't eat carried over well as leftovers which is always nice. The entire restaurant feels well managed and organized with great service and a great selection on tap and in bottled beer. I only hope the Charleston Brewery moves to national distribution this year so I can get their beers back home in NYC!

They were good. Not great. They, in my opionion, were trying too hard to come up with unique tacos and burritos. Something basic would have been nice. Quac was good, but the portion could have been slightly bigger. Service was a bit slow, but they did have a full house. All in all I wasn't all that impressed. Parking was a nightmare.

This has become our no-brainer solution to "where do you want to eat?" We may throw some other ideas out there, but always come back to Black Sheep because the delicious foods, craft beers, and inventive mixed drinks,. My personal favorite is the tempura avocado taco. I think what I really want is just a huge plate of fried avocado and the spicy orange aioli. Can you make that happen, Black Sheep? Also the roasted beet salad is crazy good, and the ginger sangria is my favorite. It's almost fall, so I hope they bring that sangria back soon (although the blackberry margarita is keeping me happy until then.) The sweet potato salad with chipotle dressing is another favorite. Oh, and the brunch menu is really good. Vindaloo Eggs Benedict? Yes, please!!! My whole family loves Black Sheep, and it's almost impossible to find anything that makes all of them happy. My husband loves the craft beer -- the Larger Than Life seems to be his running favorite. My Dad loves Wobbly. I got them both growlers so they can take home a little of their faves. You just keep on doing your thing, Black Sheep. We love you!

Wow wow wow! I LOVED this place, I wish it was closer so that I could dine there more often! I think this is a weekly stop for my friend and her hubby..and I can see why. Our server was friendly..but not over friendly. We all started out with a drink and they were all great (local beer, sangria, and mojito) I chose to have the trio of tacos: Chicken- Marinated Grilled, Pico de gallo, Mesclun, Lime Sriracha Crema & Queso Fresco Hawaiian- Confit of Pork Shoulder, Pineapple Glaze, Shaved Red Cabbage & Cilantro Bulgogi- Korean BBQ marinated Flank Steak, Kimchi, Smoked Cashews & Cilantro They were all so good....I don't think I could pick what one I like best, the bulgogi really had a kick...oooo baby! I hope next time I'm in town I can stop again!

The fish tacos are the best but there isn't a bad one. Get them to go if you're too tired. Eat in and expect excellent service. Try everything and share...the only thing I don't like is the gravy during brunch.

August 10th was the first time we visited Black Sheep Burrito/Charleston Brewing Co. I cannot say enough positive comments about this amazing place! People are all warm and friendly and very accommodating. Our waitress Diane, was AWESOME!!!! Best tacos and margaritas you will find ANYWHERE! Fantastic beer selection. Parking was only $3, which is unheard of in Cleveland, Ohio. I even tipped the attendant because I was so amazed with the cost. We will definitely be back and recommend this place to all our friends. Kudos to all of you who work at Black Sheep Burrito/Charleston Brewing!!!!!! You guys are the BEST!!!!

Calling this a Mexican restaurant is selling it way short. Yes, I had tacos. But no, an ahi tuna, a Hawaiian and a bulgogi taco are not what I would describe as Mexican. All three "tacos" were muy delicious though and the beers I tried also satisfied my picky beer pallet. On top of it all, the staff was great! If I lived in Charleston, I would definitely be a regular here.

Best brewpub in Charleston!!! the only brewpub in Charleston :-) Great wings and a variety of tasty tacos. The homebrews are very well done chers!

Downtown location with inside and outside seating available. A colleague and I went here for dinner this evening. The server recommended the tacos and they were an awesome choice! We had a great dinner, the price was reasonable and the service was great! I'll definitely be back!

A gem in an otherwise unremarkable dining scene. The food was fresh with well-developed flavors. There were a number of options for all tastes (there are even vegetarian options). The ingredients were fresh and of good quality (no super-soft, non-textured meat or chicken a la Chilli's or Applebee's here). I decided to go with a flight that included two meat options and one chicken. There are a variety of different flavor profiles but I chose to go with straightforward tacos as a way to get a good feel for the ingredients. All three were really good. So much so that I ventured into a few more (the kimchi taco - I forget the name on the menu - was awesome). The beers are not an afterthought here. The staff is knowledgeable and pleasant and the service is fast and efficient. Overall, I think this place does a great job. It's a must in Charleston.

Took a recent quick visit to Huntington, WV and this was my favorite spot by far. Great beers on tap (I recommend pretty much anything from country boy brewery). The housemade chips and salsa we got were really good as well as the three different tacos we tried. A beet/bleu cheese, pork belly, and brisket with blueberry bbq sauce. The beet one was super interesting and my gf's favorite. Mine was probably the brisket, sweet and savory and delicious. Also of note was the cocktails... I ordered a pineapple mule which was awesome and huge, while being only $7. The atmosphere and the frequent live music they have just add to their appeal. A must stop while in Huntington.

Fantastic tacos. Try the trout, bulgogi, salmon, thai shrimp... Hell! Try them all! I tried 9 different tacos and they all blew my mind. The traditional Mexican taco has serious competition

  • Lilli K.

Baja Fish taco and Fried Avocado taco = AMAZING. Just right, perfect balance of flavors! The portobello taco was a bit more bland, overwhelmed by black beans. Beer was great. House-made salsa okay (would expect more heat...). Kids menu minimal.

Stopped here on a trip from North Carolina to Ohio. The burritos were amazing, with flavor on point. I had the Baaad Ass Burrito with Death Sauce on the side. The flavor was out of this world and I couldn't stop eating, though I was clearly full. We came on a weekday around 1:00 and the place was empty. We were seated, ordered, and served, all within 10 minutes. I was very impressed! Perfect for our road trip. They also have an excellent selection of local and international beers. I'd highly recommend the beers that they brew in house. They have a good mixture of different types of beers, you'll be able to find any that you like! The atmosphere was great. Good feel with both a restaurant and bar area. I'd definitely come back again!

  • Eno O.

I always get the bad ass burrito but I always leave out that hot sauce because it is really hot! The food is very good.

  • Greg M.

This is a really creative menu. It's not a traditional Mexican restaurant. The food was outstanding. I had the Thai burrito, my wife had Hawaiian tacos. My kids had tortas. Everyone loved their food. Portions were a bit on the small side but they more than made up for it with quality. Margaritas were equally creative. Their home made beers were also good. No complaints to speak of. Give this place a try.

  • Katy I.

Amazing food. I had the 3 taco sampler with the ahi, Korean BBQ, and the fried fish taco. All were delicious! Boyfriend had the curry burrito and wow! We also had some truly awesome beers and took some growlers home! Highly recommend the Raj IPA and the Power Pale.

  • Baron T.

Great variety of specialty burritos, quality selection of locally brewed beers. The original mojito was average at best. Steer clear of that. Otherwise very pleased. Service was great.

  • Brett R.

You won't get a bad burrito here. I've had the curry one, the bbq brisket (with blueberry sauce!), and a few others. They're all winners. You have got to get the cole slaw; you get a big nice burrito with a nice cool slaw that I scoop up with tortilla chips provided. Huge beer selection; I'd say one of the best in Charleston. The only thing about this place is that it gets slammed in there sometimes, but I guess that's a good problem to have if you're these guys.

    (4)
  • Scott D.

Nice place, good food (an interesting twist on the burrito). They use various types of cuisine to make specialty burritos. We all ordered a different burrito and traded halves. Both of the ones I had were excellent, maned everyone seemed happy with their meal. The crafted brews all looked great, we were passing through on a road trip so we skipped the bar but would try next time if I find myself back in Charleston.

Black Sheep Burritos offers a creative/inventive twist on Mexican fare with some tasty brews to boot (they're connected to the Charleston Brewing Company)! I had the pleasure of dining at Black Sheep with some friends as we passed through Charleston after a weekend away. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We all opted for various types of burritos. I had the Ba'ad Ass burrito with 'death on the side' per the waiter's recommendation. Maybe I'm a little too confident in my love/appreciation of spice, or after reading another review that it was "not that hot" but long story short, I was a little aggressive with my initial application of the salsa. Not to say that I didn't completely enjoy my meal (and it didn't deter me from adding some more later), but I can tell you that my lips were tingling for the rest of the night! I also liked trying some local brews, they had quite a few offerings on tap so there is bound to be an offering for every palate. I'd definitely make an effort to dine at Black Sheep again next time I find myself in Charleston.

The food was okay but the parking is a nightmare. One customer paid $50 to the tow guy to unhook his car. There are no signs telling you to park or not. We were lucky some told us beforehand. The price was good for the food and service was slow.

  • Cindy K.

First of all scott was a great server. Food was fast and good. Had chips and salsa, salsa was not spicy and I would say that was the least memorable thing although I do think the have other types. We had chili which was a solid choice and I recommend getting flight of tacos to try out plethora of options. We had Thai shrimp (a +), steak (husband said he liked sauce) and chorizo (spicy but good). Can't go wrong.

  • Kellysue H.

The Tacos were very good. But they were out of several of there beers so didn't try any of their beers.

Loved the wide array of taco fillings and of course the house made nachos and guacamole. My husband had the Raj beer and loved that as well. Our server Corey was very helpful and entertaining! Keep up the good work!

  • Steven K.

The food is SOOOOO GOOD!!!!! My beautiful fiancé had a fish taco, Texas brisket taco, and Thai shrimp taco. I had the Hawian pork taco. They were both amazing!!!!!!

  • Sam M.

Stopped in for dinner and a couple of beers. The brews were home-brew and good. Wings were spicy enough, with nice side sauces. The 3-pack of tacos were good, and had unique flavors. Good food, good service.

Food was okay. I was told this was an authentic Mexican restaurant but I'd argue that it is not. Tastes like a mix between Chipotle & Moe's. Was visiting from Georgia so maybe it is a regional thing. However, my # # strawberry margarita was made to perfection--unless you prefer your drinks easy on the alcohol--this is a great place for drinks. Our waiter was polite & very patient with our group of 8. If I'm ever cursed to return to W. VA & wanted to go out for drinks I would definitely return. Yet, I would probably choose to eat elsewhere though I was hoping to try the chicken & waffles only served during brunch. Ehhh so I guess I could be easily convinced to return for brunch. Overall, not a bad place to try.

First off the service Scott provided was fabulous, ask for him, the food was amazing and the beer was awesome. Definitely will be coming back for more!

Wow, this place was spectacular! We read a few of the reviews while arriving to Charleston for the night. It was an obvious choice, we had to try it out. Beer and Tacos are a must! My brother and I wanted to order a burrito, but the waiter helped us out. We didn't know which one to order, so our waiter suggested to order three different tacos. That was the best idea! We ordered the Bulgogi, Chicken, Beet (my brother said that was his favorite and the Portobello. All had a lot of flavor and a great taste, so you know they use only the best ingredients. All of them were amazing. Often times when you order three different tacos, you usually wish you ordered one over the others. Not the case...all were awesome. I just wish my stomach was bigger to consume more! We enjoyed craft beer along with the tacos. The chips were good too along with the in-house fresh salsa. If you are driving through and have time to eat at a sit down restaurant...give it a try. I know I'll make my way back some day for sure.

Phenomenal! Great food and cool atmosphere! It was difficult to decide what to eat because all of the options on the menu sounded delicious!

Great atmosphere great service and very interesting menu. The The falafel was great and the beers are also really tasty.

  • Whitney F.

Really loved this place! The food was very flavorful and unique. It is a rare treat to find a place like this in Charleston. My only complaint is that my order was mixed up with my husbands. We didn't even realize it till we were done eating. Either way the trio of tacos I got were all very good. Thai taco was a favorite among the group. I also really like the Hawaiian taco. The hardest part is deciding what to order. We will be back to try more!

  • Sarah S.

We love Black Sheep in Charleston! The service is always great, staff are friendly and the food is delicious. We even had Black Sheep cater our wedding in June--we still receive compliments from our guests on the food! My favorite on the menu is the Korean BBQ taco-so spicy!

    (5)
  • Laura L.

Good beer, good food, good music. We couldn't have have asked for more! We didn't have the burritos but the variety and length of the menu was amazing. I wish we were hungry enough for a full dinner. We had the quesadillas and chips with all the salsas. Loved the milk stout and Georgia beers. Loved that we caught band night! Fun all around. We will be back!

Blacksheep is my go-to place when I'm feeling a little homesick. The vibe, food & crowd makes me forget about where I am and feel like I'm back in Sunny California. Brunch *Bottomless mimosas for $8! Only available during brunch. *Chicken & waffles: Double thumbs up. Nicely breaded. Their candied jalapenos & fried onion straws brings a nice twist to the traditional chicken & waffles. *Chorizo burrito: Presentation isn't exactly pleasing to the eyes, but who cares about that if it's finger-licking good? No, really. You'll be literally licking off the grease of the chorizo off your fingers. The taste kind of dazes you, so you don't catch yourself being very un-ladylike until it's too late. Oh well. Dinner: *Flock of tacos (choice of 3): -Hawaiian: They could definitely use more flavoring for the pork. Other than that- the combination of pork with the pineapple glaze was quite tasty. The red cabbage gave the taco a nice crunch since both the pork & pineapple are soft. -Bulgogi: My favorite out of the 3. Rich in flavor. Kimchi is extremely spicy, but tasty. Yes, it's nothing like the kimchi I find at home, but it's still delicious! They lathered the taco with some other type of sauce, which wasn't written down on the menu- whatever it was, it was awesome! -Baja: Lacking flavor. The fish was nicely fried, but nothing really stood out. Not sure if the yogurt sauce was bland or if I just didn't get enough of it. *Steak QUESADILLAS: Ooey-gooey cheese! Cheese and steak was jam-packed in each slice. *Steak burrito: Typical steak burrito. Didn't exceed or disappoint expectations. Comes with a choice of side. *Chipotle Sweet Potato Salad: It's tasty. It has a nice balance of soft & crunch in each bite. I think the salad would have tasted a LOT better if it was served warm though. *Hint, hint* Friends liked their house brewed beer. Not a big selection, but still a good number. Very attentive and helpful servers- but all of them seem to be a bit.. awkward?

First time visiting this establishment for lunch. There was a good sized crowd inside which gave me hope in this sleepy town. The jerk chicken burrito was good and flavorful. If you are adventurous try the baaa'd ass burrito with it's house-made habanero death sauce.

Very good food with excellent service! Had the portobello quesadilla and queso with chips. Sooo good.

It took Blacksheep about a day to surpass its predecessors in this space - Capitol Roasters and Charleston Brewing Company - and only a week to make Charleston almost forget those places even existed. Blacksheep does burritos and tacos and drinks and a few sandwiches and little else. That is, they've found a specialty and worked to master it, something many restaurants could learn from. I mentioned above how CBC used to occupy the space. Well, the brewPUB may be gone but the brewERY is still going strong as a production only facility and enjoys a special relationship with Blacksheep. Every tap is dedicated to a CBC beer. It's almost as if the brewpub never closed, except for the better, cheaper food, improved atmosphere, superior service, and better looking staff. So if you're looking for good burritos or tacos and a tasty, local beer, come here. if you're not, well, I can't help you ... except maybe to say the mall is over that way.

  • Kimberly T.

My husband and I were in town on business and decided to give the brewery a try. We ordered a flight of beers. You choose the 4 you want to try. All 4 beers were good but the Raj was the favorite. We ordered chips and queso to start. It was good but regretted it not ordering the guacamole. My husband had the steak fajitas and I had a flight of tacos-a chicken, a duck, and a smoked salmon. They were all wonderful. The salmon was my favorite. The atmosphere was laid back and our server was great. We are coming back this way in October and we'll definitely be back to try more if their menu.

Let me start by saying the food we all had was awesome. I found this place as a lunch stop traveling from Charlotte to Akron last month and thought it was great. However stopped yesterday with some other family members and they only had this limited Brunch menu, at 2pm on a saturday. wtf? Saturday well past noon, why can't they server their awesome tacos or the full line of burritos? Food is clearly a 5, but the limited Sat lunch menu makes me give it a 3.

We've eaten here dozens of times since they opened. We usually sit at the bar, and I can't really think of a time when we've had bad service. The food also always comes out incredibly fast (we often pop in when we know we only have 30-45 min to grab a bite) and I'm always finding new things on the menu to love. From the tacos (the duck, bulgogi, Baja [oh sweet delicious Baja!], & brisket), to the burritos (the chicken burrito is amaaaazing), to the quesadillas (carnitas quesadilla is the bomb), even to the torta sandwiches (love the pulled pork). Oh, and their black sheep salad is my favorite salad in town (even if the honey lime dressing is sometimes much too lime-y... I've learned to get it on the side and taste it first). The brunch is also great- I love the huevos rancheros with brisket! I can't really say anything bad about this place. In a perfect world, their kitchen would stay open later, but in a place like Charleston (a ghost town during the week in the evenings) it probably wouldn't be worth the money for them to do that.

    (5)
  • Susan M.

The flavor selection for the burritos and tacos is amazing! My husband and I ordered six different tacos, and the only one that was good (instead of excellent) was the pork belly. The service is excellent. My older son says you must get the habanero death sauce.

    (5)
  • Pat H.

Enjoyed dinner and drinks last night. Food portions were good but probably less than 4 oz of meat per burrito. Would have liked more of that and less filler veggies. Beer was really yummy!

    (4)
  • Andy W.

My burrito was excellent but was nothing like I expected when walking in the door for mexican. All burritos have a "specialty kick", seemed mostly Asian cuisine oriented, and the portions are rather small in terms of burritos. I reiterate my seared tuna burrito was amazing, as was the sweet potato salad side. And the staff was great. But chips n salsa is $3 and the guacamole I got for $6 was tiny and brown on top with a huge thing of chips. I added salsa for 75¢. The IPA from the brewery was good, light body, hoppy, a crisp finish. Overall a decent experience but not entirely satisfying.

    (3)
  • Doreen S.

Fresh and unusual combinations served in large portions. Awesome drink list! Staff was very friendly and efficiant. Tried almost all the margaritas, Spicy Pineapple and Mango Coconut were pretty great.

    (4)
  • Ben L.

Wow. Bulgogi burrito. Chili. HOUSE MADE KIMCHI in WEST VIRGINIA... Whaaaaat?! It goes against my religion, but I did try a bite of the vegan burrito, and even that shit was delightful - they even make it with local smoked tofu. Seriously. This is also a brewery - sounds like heaven, right? Pretty much. Charleston, WV... wow.

    (5)
  • Johnathan C.

The atmosphere is a little boring, kinda dark and gloomy and they don't really have any sides to choose from. But don't really let something like that stop you because the orange Chipotle chicken sandwich is gonna blow your mind!

This is a must stop! Excellent and creative burritos. Highly recommend and was a hit with our teens as well.

  • Julia Y.

Just left after a terrible experience. Ordered two appetizers and two meals which includes the taco block and the marinated chicken sandwich with two extra sides. The tacos were good. The chicken sandwich was dry with very thick bread. I requested more mayo and was told there would be an extra charge. Knowing that I was struggling with the dryness of the food the waiter did not bring extra water seeing that our glasses were empty. He asked if we were ready for our check and I had to request water even though our glasses were completely empty. He never even checked on us after we received our food. We had to call him over to request the extra mayo, salsa (which we paid extra for) and we are generous tippers regardless of the crappy service. We were traveling through Charlotte and found them on yelp, we could not drink beer as our travels had to continue. Would never recommend them. Who expects a person to eat that much food, dry food, on ONE glass of water? Funny, those drinking beer around us seemed to get reasonable service.

This was not a good restaurant..The food was cold and service was not great! The Manager was rude when trying to get the problem resolved. I had the Hawaiian Burritos and my friend had the Taco triple..it was cold from the beginning. I tried to just ignore that but it was so bad I couldn't eat not even half of it. The rice was bland and cold. The manager which was a girl was rude and at first didn't even want to talk to us. She made it out like me and my friend were in the wrong . The customer that was at the next table was complaining also about his food to us and the Manager thought we were complaining to this man when actually he approached us. We didn't even know him. He said it was the worse food he has ever had in Charleston. Apparently this gentleman was from out of town and here on business. She was rude to him also. .I told her I would be making a complaint and she said "I don't care" She definitely doesn't need to be in Management. .She doesn't know how to treat her guest! It was my Birthday and I didn't enjoy my meal at all! I hope something is said to this Manager and the Cook! !

I think it's safe to say that this is my absolute favorite brunch in town. I have the hardest time deciding between the Breakfast Burrito, Biscuits and Gravy and the Chicken and Waffles. The food and service is consistently good and the atmosphere is so cozy and laid back.

  • Brett T.

Really enjoyed this place. I came with a large group of about 9 and while it took forever for the food to come out, we enjoyed talking and drinking their awesome beer selection. The waiter was very good considering how many people he had to deal with and he split up our checks without complaining, which is a big plus. I had the bulgogi burrito, which was delicious, along with the chipotle potato salad.

If I could choose zero stars, I would. My SO and I were driving back to Ohio and went here at about 730pm. Aesthetic was nice, we chose the patio. The hostess status and returned 7 min later when our waiter never showed to take our drink order. I ordered the lavender mojito. Amazing, but syrupy. 15 min later our drinks and waiter came. I ordered the duck taco, trout taco and I think barbacoa taco. My guy ordered three different tacos. The waiter's personality was dryer than my duck taco. Food came 20 min later. Ice cold. Waiter nowhere to be found. ...20 min later, still gone. Oh, we want to leave. There he is, the elusive waiter. "Here's your check bye", basically. He was tipped accordingly. They were dead that night, save an 8-top that already had their bill.

Great place. Burrito was excellent and the beer, great tasting micro brew. The night I was there they released a couple of their new brews which were really really good. The 70 Bob is always good. One of the new brews was the Irish Stout which was very good. If you go in the next couple of weeks make sure you see Tim at the bar. He was fantastic. Great job!

  • Kelly M.

We had a bad experience here. We waited about 20-25 min for our food to come out and when it finally did it was cold. The manager did try to fix it by adjusting the bill but overall it was straight amateur hour with generally bad service all around. My husband said his cold biscuits and gravy tasted ok.

Great service and atmosphere. Delicious tacos with fresh and unique ingredients. I'm generally not a big fan of Mexican food, but this was not your typical Mexican cuisine. Looking forward to eating here again! Thanks!

Been in Charleston for 2 weeks on business and this has been the best place we've eaten. Been there 3 times already. Fast service, solid micro brew beers, and a great selection and variety of food. Highly recommend the Korean beef taco, the Bad Azz burrito, and the sweet potato. Also they do a very solid brunch on the weekends. Had the fried chicken and waffles with sage and fried onions, loved it. Friend had the duck confit eggs Benny, also solid. Highly recommend this place.

I would do any deed in exchange for food from this establishment. The first time I got the vegan burrito and I literally thought I was going to faint. The second time, I got the hummus burrito and I'm almost certain that I did faint. I constantly recommend this godly restaraunt. I'm begging you to eat here.

We've frequented this restaurant many times since it opened in Charleston. It has one of the best menus Charleston has to offer. It's become a staple restaurant in our family and we eat here all the time. Atmosphere: this place used to be a crappy pub, but now has a fun vibe. You can view the brewery where the beer is made in both the bar and the lower part of the restaurant. It's dim, and not too loud. They recently got a small patio which is great. Beer: SO GOOD. The Raj is the most popular that's always there. My favorite is the Wobbly. Food: Apps- The nachos are HUGE and so good. All the salsas are good, and the guacamole is incredible. Salads are huge, and the variety of soups are good for lunch. There are so many good burritos, the best being the Baa'd Ass and Bulgogi. There are multiple tacos we'd recommend: thai shrimp, trout, duck, and portobello. BRUNCH: the brunch menu is 10x better than the regular menu. They offer honey-nut cheerio crusted chicken with both the chicken and waffle dish and the biscuits and gravy dish. They have all you can drink bloody mary's and mimosas for $8. Service: As regulars, we've gotten to know quite a few of the servers and they're all friendly. Overall: This is our favorite restaurant in Charleston and we highly recommend it.

The beer was ok but this was the worst brisket I have ever had in my life. It was dry like beef jerky

Overall pretty good food. During the weekend they have a really good brunch and I highly recommend the huevos rancheros. During normal lunch and dinner the flight of tacos or the black sheep salads are the best options. The fish taco is on point. Micro brewed beers on location are good, but not elite.

Fresh ingredients and superb service at a hip urban spot. My mother-in-law said it was the best service she has experienced while dining in ten years! Our family thoroughly enjoyed the food (tacos & quesadillas) and margaritas! I normally order a burrito - their creative combinations never disappoint. While we typically have the awesome beer from their onsite brewery, everyone was in the mood for margaritas. ;) I have some strict dietary restrictions (dairy, soy, nuts) and the entire staff went above and beyond to address my needs. They even cooked my food separately and provided substitute homemade sauces for the dishes I ordered. Grateful for a wonderful family meal!

We stopped in while we were in town overnight on our road trip back to NYC. A nice local atmosphere with live music (Saturday night). The tacos (chicken, trout, pork) were very tasty, an original take. A bit too much cabbage on the trout. The curry burrito was good but not spicy. The mircobrews are good with a decent variety for all types of drinkers. The waiter seemed a little aloof and over stretched but was pleasent. Will definitely stop in if we are in town again.

I haven't found a place as good for fresh ingredients and food since my wife lived in Athens, Ohio. They have the best burritos in the valley!

Burritos are tasty and flavorful but I would rather get a tastier Qdoba burrito in half the time.

I have visited Black Sheep Burrito & Brews several times over the course of the last year. I have been impressed by the food, the beer and the atmosphere. I generally sit at the bar so that I can talk to the bartender regarding the available beers. - Charleston Brewing Compnay, which occupies a portion of the building, produces some very tasty and creative beers. As it is still summer, they were heavily populated with variety of wheat beers and pale ales or IPA's. All of the ones I sampled were delicious, but my favorites were the Pale Ale and the "Raj" IPA. For dinner, I had the chips and salsa and the "Ba'ad Ass" Burrito. The chips were crispy and warm. The roasted red pepper salsa was great. My burrito was huge and filling; it was served with a habanero sauce which I elected to have 'on the side', as suggested by the bartender. As it turned out, it was not as devilishly hot as the menu described. In summary, I have enjoyed every visit to this restaurant/brewpub. The service has been helpful and attentive. I highly recommend it.

On a road trip and needed something good to eat. I'm also on the lookout for good craft beers around the US so when I saw Black Sheep was serving Charleston Brewing Company's beer I thought it looked like a win/win situation. The beer was good and the food was better. The tacos and burritos are creative and tasty. The sweet potato salad was a must try for me because of the unique flavor combination. Parking wS only two dollars right next door.

My wife treated me for Father's Day. We ate chicken and waffles. It was a delishes meal though spicy. Candied jalapeño was an ingredient. I want to try more of their exotic creations.

I really wanted to love this place on my recent visit to CRW. The menu looked promising, anytime I see duck it's usually a sign of creative and fun things going on in the kitchen. I came in for dinner with a friend, we were promptly seated and promptly forgotten about. Thankfully, the hostess noticed us and came by to take our drink order (the milk stout was excellent). Once the drinks came out, our server, a non enthusiastic and emotionless young girl, took our order. We started with the salsa trio, which by the way, why are we paying for chips and salsa at a "Mexican" place? The chips came out pretty quickly, the house salsa was pretty good, along with the pico, fresh and spicy. The black bean and corn salsa however, literally had no taste. Both of us ordered three tacos each, the flight of tacos I believe. We ordered mostly different tacos so I'll list them below. The duck...oh the duck, wait, where is the duck, oh, it's that little strip of meat covered up by the berries...let's just call this a berry taco with duck zest. The pork shoulder taco wasn't bad, a bit on the dry side but overall okay. The bulgogi taco was my favorite, nice flavors and seasoning, moist and a bit spicy. The chorizo taco tasted about the same as Taco Bell, literally, I think they stole the recipe from Taco Bell. The portobello, in the words of my friend, "might as well be eating dirt". No flavor at all, very very bland. So, here we are, the bill came to about $48 bucks with tip and what did we get? 6 tacos, 2 beers and chips and salsa. Overall, a major disappointment. I think there is definitely potential and I give them credit for trying something new and different in CRW. We didn't try the burritos, perhaps that's where this place really excels. The chips and salsa have to be free, perhaps some help with the taco offerings, as well as some friendlier staff might help this place out a bit. I won't be coming back unless some major changes happen. Oh, where is the website?

Grabbed a to go order of 3 soft tacos when I was in town for a meeting. Order the battered fish, Thai Shrimp, and Bulgogi Beef. First two had sheered cabbage and the last had Kimchi. All 3 were delicious. Great flavor and texture. But the Bulgogi Beef was out of this world. When I was done I wished that I had ordered 3 of them instead of the variety.

I'm not the biggest fan of Blacksheep Burrito. I visited once when it was Charleston Brewing Company, and that's all I needed to experience-- my party and I waited for quite some time to be waited on (we didn't hardly see any employees, or else we would have flagged them down) and the food was sub-par and overpriced. Later, when it became Blacksheep, I decided to give it a second chance. The service was once again poor (at best)... And when I caught a glimpse of the kitchen, I struggled to finish eating because of how dirty it looked. The food wasn't the best you could find in Charleston, either.

We stopped here while on the road. Nice atmosphere, but a little loud. They were setting up for live music. The beers were great. About 10 choices to choose from. We ordered an assortment of tacos. Trout was the best. The roasted beet was a bit much with the orange sauce. The duck had too much sweet blackberry sauce. The kids menu was cheap. Good quality and extremely fast service. Great option! Delicious!

I'm in town for work and have eaten here twice. The General tso Tofu burrito is fantastic. The Raj IPA is delicious. I'll def. Be back to check out more of the menu.

This place was super tasty. I was out in Charleston for business, and this was my favorite place that we ate at. Definitely holds its own among breweries and international taco places that I've eaten at. I definitely suggest the brisket taco (with the blueberry BBQ sauce), and the tempura fried avocado taco.

I've been here several times and have had good experienced each time. The beers are pretty good, decent diversity and taste. The food is fantastic - nice variety and consistently delicious. I highly recommend the Bulgogi burrito or the Thai. But even the duck tacos and the roasted beet tacos are amazing. Fast and friendly servers, too.

Great beers and amazing burritos. I've eaten here twice now and both times I was blown away by the place. Their beer is high quality, I recommend the Mr Malum. I've had the steak burrito both times now. It's literally the best burrito I've ever had. Service has always been top notch as well. I sat at the bar once and the bartenders are very helpful with beer choices, and they offer all the free samples you need to help make your mind up. Definitely recommend checking this place out. I'll be visiting every trip I make to Charleston.

My husband and I drove through Charleston last night and stopped at Black Sheep for dinner. I had the jerk chicken burrito and my husband had the Hawaiian pork burrito, both were delicious! Our server was friendly and sweet. If we didn't live 6 hours away, I'm sure we would frequent Black Sheep.

Stopped on the way west, to check out the brews from Charleston Brewing - and found a nice mex-type restaurant instead (or in addition!) Very quiet at lunch time, and a large space, so it must get busy on the weekends and evenings. Service was a tad slow, and the server didn't know much about the beers. On the other hand, the Chips & Salsa we started with were great! The chips were delicious and warm, and the server said they were made by the restaurant, which gives them high marks for me. I followed with the Portobella Quesadilla - which tasted more like the black beans that were mixed in than the mushroom, which was too bad - as it was the mushroom flavor I'd been anticipating. If you enjoy craft beers, and mexican-style food, this is probably the best place in town!

This place is great - brunch on sat and Sunday the best - chicken and waffles - won first place at Taste Of Festival - duck Benedict wonderful and the egg was perfect. Vindaloo Benedict to die for - so much I took the leftovers home and added a fresh English muffin and eggs - great the second time. For those that don't like the heat try the chicken breakfast quesadilla - my mom loved it. Great service. Don't know how you wouldn't like this.

Good, drinkable beers from Charleston Brewing. Bought the Mountain Stage to take home; liked the Citra and Oatmeal Stout. Tacos were good, the Bulgogi and steak were our favorites. Definitely worth trying if you're in Charleston!

Went for lunch. This place is a big improvement over the food at charleston brewing company, which was here before but not a place I would go back to. The cheese dip with chips was very good but that was about it. Burrito was dry and bland. Service better than the old place but still not great. Best thing about it is the location.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Walked in at 9:45 pm this evening where people were still dining and hostess cut me off at the door saying they were closing. When I told her Yelp indicated they were open until midnight she argued with me, "We have NEVER been open until Midnight!" When I went after my phone to show her the Yelp page she interrupted me and said, "I believe you but it's obviously wrong." Um obvious to whom??? She then added that they were closing early for a "staff Halloween party." Oh! Perfect! Turn away paying customers so Rosie the Riveter and the guy dressed as Pinhead can get their groove on tonight! I asked if there was any signage to that effect and she argued again saying that they turned off their outside sign. Um (again), did anyone think of locking the door? Based on prior occasions, the food is mediocre at best and the service is suuuuper-slow. After tonight's interaction, I'll surely never darken their door again!

Stopped in on the from Charlotte to Indy and needed to stop for lunch with the dog. They welcomed us to sit in the patio with the dog and the service was great! The weekend brunch menu has a lot of great menu items and the Chorizo burrito had great flavor and the potatoes were awesome. Over all great service and food!

We went on a Saturday night. Wait was quoted as 45min, reality was over an hour and we basically begged the host to give us the table since we have been waiting so long (with kids in tow). Service was s.l.o.w. During our wait, we went to the bar to order a few beers. Bartenders took 10min to take our order. They were more attentive to ask everyone at the bar if they needed a refill before helping any walk ups. Food came quickly, which made the situation improve greatly. Even though we were seated in the major thoroughfare for servers, we had to do an embarrassing flag down for water refills, silverware, etc. My 10yr old daughter eventually walked up to the bar to get a water refill. And surprisingly she got it in only a 3 minute wait. The food and beer were good. We had steak burrito and jerk chicken burrito and the chip/cheese and chorizo dip. I wouldn't recommend the chorizo add on - it was very greasy and changed the context of the cheese because of that. Steak burrito was good, but jerk was really dry and almost too wide to eat. We had the west coast ipa, handsome juice and Taylor blond ale. All very nice. There was a band playing, which created a fun atmosphere. I would return here but with the expectation that I shouldn't have high expectations for wait time and service level.

I had a really tasty brunch of Huevos Rancheros and a pretty good beer called Citrus Obsession which really had no citrus notes and was more of a pale IPA. Fresh, fast, good service and a very reasonable price. Would definitely go back.

The food was original and nothing like I've had before. It was pretty good and my family and I enjoyed our burritos and tacos. It was not what we had expected and I would not recommend any of their side dishes, which have an unusual smokey flavor and leave a bad taste in your mouth. The two stars are for the poor and slow service. We had to flag our waiter down multiple times for refills and for our check. Overall, not thoroughly impressed.

One of our faves. Fantastic ever-changing variety of brews. Very cool ambience. Trout, salmon & bulgogi tacos are amazing. Burritos are big enough for two. Great guac. Didn't think I'd be a fan of a lavender margarita but it's incredible.

Such a disappointment! My friend and I went here while I was in town. I couldn't wait to try the "best dish in Charleston" the chicken and waffles. The atmosphere was nice, hipster, new and exciting. We were seated. No one acknowledged us... For 20 mins! I flagged down a waiter and he was great! Then our food came. I ordered the waffles, my friend biscuit and gravy. It was all terrible! My waffle had great texture but zero flavor. The syrup was overly sweet with no salt or heat to counteract. Menu stated candied jalapeños for garnish, would have been awesome to have those, but couldn't have improved the dish. The chicken was very dry and not all all southern fried. It was more like a chicken nugget from chick-fillet- a. (Which would have been a better option) My friends dish was suppose to come with a side of potatoes instead she got tortilla chips with her biscuits and gravy. The waiter was great and apologetic even though it wasn't his fault at all but the manager was insulting. He should not be a manager if he can't take criticism and right the wrong. He ended up giving us 20% off but argued with me over my dislike "because everyone else seems o like it." I love chicken and waffles with spicy and sweet parts, this sir had none of the above! The price is outrageous for the quality and quantity of food. Will not be going back on my regular visits to Charleston.

Food was good. Service efficient of bland. Bare walls - hang ANYTHING. 10 minutes after sitting down at 8:17 a guy comes to tell us they're closing the kitchen at 8:30 "to change the filters" and if we want to eat we need to hurry and order. Tacky.

The beer is good and is decently priced. I had a flight of four beers from Charleston Brewing Company, and I would try any of them again. Wish the atmosphere wasn't so cold and industrial, but the food is yummy, and I'm all for anything out of West Virginia!!

The food was pretty good (chicken burrito w/ sweet potatoes) but the service was horrible. We waited more than 1 hour for our food. Maybe that's why I thought the food was decent?

Outstanding find for a visiting Seattle couple! Yummy yummy beers and really friendly service! Probably the best milk stout I've ever had!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
