Absolutely fantastic lunch. Got a kids grilled cheese for the little man which showed up quickly. Then mom and dad split the special burger which was a cherry and red wine reduction with blue cheese and bacon. That burger was superb. Then we finished it off with an unbelievable chocolate chip and cream cheese bread pudding with whipped cream that was so good- best dessert we've had in years! We all wished we had more room to finish the dessert because it was so special. This was an excellent meal all around. We will definitely be returning to the 5 Corner Cafe when driving through Charleston.

We found this spot via my Yelp app as we were travelling from KY to Maryland. It was just off of the highway and we were in need of some relatively quick but whole food. The atmosphere was cute, kitschy, and unique. An open floor plan made it feel large and roomy with beautiful wood floors and lovely antique tables and chairs which lent some elegance in an otherwise unremarkable neighborhood. Our server really went the extra mile for us as we were picky! :) I'm vegan and they really didn't cater to that on the menu. But when I wanted a large garden salad without the usual toppings, he rattled off a long list of the veggies they had in the kitchen and offered to chop a healthy portion into my salad for me. My family all ordered specialized sandwiches like a Gouda burger, the cranberry Turkey sandwich which had turkey, orange marmalade, walnut and cranberry spread - among other things - on a croissant. My sister raved about her chicken salad sandwich and the berry cobbler my brother ordered registered no complaints and an empty plate! All in all it was a good value, too, with an average $9 a plate for generous portions. Thanks for taking good care of us on our long trek!

Service was slow, and the menu is very minimal. The prices are ridiculous, and the atmosphere leaves you feeling like you've stumbled into someone's back room. Don't get me wrong the staff where nice, but slow. The food was so so. I've had better at a chain restaurant.

My fave in my neighborhood! I can't get by the turkey cranberry croissant! Their soups are always hearty and flavorful. If you are lucky enough to be there on a day they serve potato cakes, do not miss out on ordering them!!! And save room for Clifton's "lovin's from the West Side ovens" - desserts to die for!

Went there yesterday with my girlfriend. I forget our server's name but he was great, especially since it was near the end of his shift. I had the Gouda burger and my girl got the chicken salad both were excellent! Best burger I've had in a long time. The house-made desserts were great too! A must for Charlestonians!

We wanted something non-chain, rather fast, not expensive, and not far from highway. I searched Yelp and based on reviews, took a chance. Definitely a winner. We were the only people in there, it's kinda hidden and not in a very populated part of town. Great service. Their fajita steak meat they put on their philly cheese steak and stuffed baked potato is awesome. Would return on another trip driving through.

The scratch-made food was amazing, sure (try the turkey croissant, seriously; my son also said the PBJ was "way better than yours, Mom" so it's great for kiddos, too). But what really sent this place to the five-star status for me was the phenomenal service. I sure wish I remembered the guy's name, but my brain was Swiss cheese after driving through VA and WV. Anyway, we rolled in 30 minutes before close, slightly queasy from the mountain trek and in need of late lunch. We were the only souls in the joint besides our waiter/cook and we got the royal treatment! Stories bordering on standup from our host, kind words and smiles for our three rowdy sons (who looked in on the cooking from the doorway and even tried to sweep the ceiling, though it looked clean to me!) He was patient and funny, and the joint itself was straight outta my dreams with the eclectic decor and the vocal jazz standards on the radio. He capped off our visit with some great desserts and sent us on our way, now 30 minutes past close. He never once rushed us, and made us feel truly valued in the midst of a long day of driving. Did I mention the food was delicious?!? Thanks for the brownie bread pudding and the company, nice man. You've got me wishing I lived in Charleston WV!

Excellent food and great service! My significant otter has been several times and raved about it. I finally got to try it at lunch today. Bonus - French Dip (one of my favs) was one of the specials. Their au jus is some of the best I've had - lots of flavor. The bread was perfect for this type of sandwich (didn't crumble into the jus, not too hard ... just right, like good porridge, beds and chairs, etc.). It came w/carmelized onions but I had them hold those. The cheese was nicely melted and the horseradish spread was very good (in fact, I could've used more of the latter). I added slaw as a side and it's not my typcially favorite type of slaw but it was good as a side (I'm not sure how I'd feel about it on bbq) - less sweet, more vinegary, creamy and very finely chopped. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their lunch (a couple other French Dips, a different special and a BLT). The seet and spicy macaroni salad seemed to be a big hit. The otter says their desserts are even better than their main courses/sides. They're all homemade. One of our lunchers got the chocolate chip, cream cheese bread pudding to go for his wife (lucky lady!) - it was huge and looked delicious. This will mos def be added to the restaurant rotation. They're open Mon, Tues & Sat for lunch only (11 am - 3 pm), Wed-Fri they're open 'til 7 pm (I think) for dinner in addition to lunch. They're celebrating their one year anniversary today - go check 'em out and help them celebrate many more years in business.
