Service is just terrible, only reason they get a two was because the food was half way decent. Can't get over how bad the service is.

We went on a Friday for the fish fry and it was fantastic. The fish was hot, crispy and juicy. The German potato salad tasted just like Grandma used to make. The only down side it that it is so darn loud. I found myself wolfing down my food so I could get the hell out of there. On our next visit we took it TO GO!!!!

The best fish fry. Period. Friday night German potato salad! Yum! Great food. During the week they are not as crowded and the food is just as fabulous. They know how to grill a steak. Highly recommended. My only gripe is that depending on the bartender, they don't make great mixed drinks. ordering an Old Fashioned here is a mistake. I stick with SOCO on the rocks. Can't screw that up!

The wait here has been a little ridiculous both times I've been here (as other Yelpers have mentioned), but hey, it was Saturday night, and a fish sandwich with a side salad was, like, 5 bucks? Not to mention delicious and filling... Definitely worth the wait, especially when the Brandy Old Fashioneds are flowing. Quite the Wisconsinite I am becoming! It seems like The Loading Zone is the place to be in Wausau on a Saturday night, even though I'm sure I'd never be able to find it if I wasn't with a Wausau native. And the servers here are so sweet (is everyone is Wausau this nice?!).

Unimpressed. For the price we paid, I expected MUCH better. While the fish was good, the small portion was not filling. You need to ask for bread, which was hard. German potato salad was really good. The plates reminded me of the college lunch line. The tartar sauce must have been straight from the mayonaise jar; the worst I ever had! The way seating worked was awkward for someone who had never been there before. Overall, I know there are better fish frys in Wausau...

The reviews were right about this being a great place for Friday night fish fry! While the location wasn't that far from where we were staying, it was a little tricky to get to and definitely outside of town. We got there super early at 4:25pm. By 4:40pm there was a line waiting to place their order. We both got the fried cod with potato salad and coleslaw on the side. The fish was fantastic and the breading was light, crispy and not overly greasy. The potato salad was clearly home made and tasty. The coleslaw was good. The wait staff was friendly and when we asked for more water, they quickly brought us a carafe. The only downside was that it was really loud and dark in there. The night we came, there were crying children at a big table. Luckily we didn't have to wait very long for our food, and after we finished, they were quick to bring the check. If we are ever in town again, we would come back and try the fried walleye with german potato salad.

Folks rave about the Friday fish fry and the BOFS drinks, but do yourself a favor once and try the grilled salmon or tuna steaks. A regular alternative for us, especially Cajun style. Yes, major wait on a Friday, but quite humane on other nights. Fridays they crank you through, order at the desk, take a number, have a drink or several and wait for your number to be called on the PA. Tiny salads, baked potato in foil, good drinks, and reasonable prices.

My all-time favorite fish fry place. A variety of options, including great shrimp and scallops too. The wait is a doozy so relax and enjoy some drinks. You'll be socializing at the bar for awhile. I also like the shots and chasers in baby food jars. I know there's a Saturday night special here but I'm a Friday night girl.

The fish fry here is excellent!! And their fries are seriously some of the best fries I have ever had in my life! The bar is very spacious, however the restaurant portion isn't as big, but they are still able to accommodate average groups about 5 to 8 people fairly easily. The dessert options are amazing! Cheesecake is a must. Drink prices are reasonable

The fish fry is great, but the service is poor. It was hard to get the attention of anyone for a drink or refill, but the food was excellent.
