Red Eye Brewing Company Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

We went to the Red Eye last year while at Granite Peak. This visit was extremely disappointing, service was not the same, neither was the experience. They were out of the IPA, one of their staples with nothing close to replace it. Table we set at was so dark we had to use our phones to see the menu. Ordered the children's hamburger, so small it was a joke, had to ask for the chips and condiments. Obviously not what it was last year.

Decided to try this place for my birthday last year with the family, and was definitely worth it. Place was a bit smaller than I thought it was going to be, but the food, beer, and service made up for it.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Very well done menu with both creative dishes and classic flavors. Vegetable Ruben- possibly the best veggie sandwich I've ever had.

Love, Love, Love this place! Great beer and amazing food. One of my favorite restaurants in Wausau!

Fresh ingredients is the key to a fantastic meal. Everything they prepare uses fresh, locally provided ingredients. This was evident in the Napolitana pizza, the Red Eye burger and of course the beer. Highly recommend dining here!

I love this place for dinners out and business lunches. The service take just the right time, not too long, not too short. They are great with kids, giving them crayons and milk in small carton with a straw instead of a glass. The food is consistently good quality. They occasionally have a special crawfish boil, which we go to every year. It's so much fun to peel crawfish in the summer sun with good beer.

Great food, great beer, and a casual atmosphere. What's not to love? I've been twice, and both times the service was great. We had pizzas the first time, which were lovely. Most recently I had their burger, which was very good indeed. Grass fed beef: om nom nom! In general I find their American style beers to be the truest to style. All I've tried were well brewed. The German pilsener was closer to a Bohemian, IMO.

Continues to be one of strongest restaurants in Wausau. The owner added some vegetarian options (I made a personal request) and the beer selection is solid. Seriously, Red Eye is a wonderful place to eat and drink, and, Friday nights are busy.

Couple things to go over here. Atmosphere - seems about normal for a brewery but there was no background music playing which you dont really notice until its gone. Server - was admittedly new to the location so she was understandably not the best but simple request such as water shouldn't be overlooked after asking for them.... it was 9pm on a saturday night. Not too busy. Food - the loaded tots were pretty good and the pizza was great Beer - Got 2 different belguim beers and wasnt impressed by either

Red Eye burger and spinach artichoke were excellent. Prices are reasonable for the food provided. Easy parking and close to the mall.

It's the best spot in Wausau for beer! The food is always great and the service is outstanding!

We were very impressed with the Red Eye Brewing Company, the beer was great, Bloom, a Belgian wheat was my favorite, though I am partial to a good white ale, the waitress even got my mother, who is a miller kinda of gal to give their home brews a try. We also tried the Scarlet 7, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. My daughter had the hand-made Italian soda, in pomegranate, she's hooked. The food was also amazing. My daughter and I started with the Mediterranean chicken nachos, very interesting combination that knocked our socks off. We then shared the Chianti Tuscan Chicken Pizza, we have never had grapes on a pizza, it was delicious! The service was great, everyone was very friendly, and it shows by the packed house! when I'm in the Wausau area again I would definitely go back to the Red Eye.

Excellent food and service here! I have had the BadaBing Shrimp Wrap, the soups, the Sunshine Burger, the Grilled Shrimp Salad (beautifully seasoned, grilled shrimp! I'll dream of this salad until I come again), and other things. All delicious. The Spinach Artichoke Dip appetizer is really good, not the gacky, salty stuff you get at chain restaurants. The service is always great. Our server, Ashley, was friendly and attentive. The list of beers is awesome and, when asked, the servers know about the different beers. This is where we go whenever we are in Wausau. Definitely worth checking out!

Who would expect a place like this in Wausau? While passing through, we decided to stop and we are glad we did. The restaurant had a warehouse feel but the bikes hanging from the ceiling help break up the space. The beer was excellent and the menu choices were inventive. Fresh ingredients and many vegetarian options were available.

I'll give you the review quick and dirty: the place is outstanding. Drinks: I ordered an old fashioned and the man ordered an American IPA called "Thrust." Best d*** drinks we've had all summer. My old fashioned was perfectly sweet and the IPA received good reviews as well. Food: I ordered the Wild Mushroom Alfredo with chicken and he ordered the Grumpy Goat pizza. Once again, Red Eye delivered. The food came out quickly and didn't disappoint. We had just spent the day at the airshow and our bellies needed something good. For the amount of food we received and the price, it was all a great value. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn't been.

This place is good! Wait time was about 15 mins which wasn't bad for a Friday night. The place looks urban/industrial, decor wise. Has a nice yet busy bar area and seating is good but seems like there could be more. Overall the setting/decor was very unique and nice. Food wise - I ordered the Wild Mushroom Alfredo with Shrimp. DELICIOUS! Great portion size for price. They also had other limited mixed drinks and beer but the cost was a bit high per drink for me so I didn't order any alcoholic beverage. Seems interesting but will have to try another time. Otherwise the Wild Mushroom Alfredo with Shrimp was great. Covered with mushroom and alfredo sauce. The sauce was nice and thick and there was a decent amount of shrimp. Red Eye Brewing Company overall is a great place to hang out with friends and catch up. Cost of food and drinks is a bit on the higher side depending on what you order but decent. Overall atmosphere is good. Would love to revisit this place again.

Very good wood fire pizza selection and other selections for those not interested in pizza. I did not try the beer, but looks like they had a wide selection as well as seasonal beers. Monday lunch was busy, which makes me think this is a local favorite. I would most definitely return here next time I am in town.

Great pizza and the best hamburger I have ever eaten. We got a sampler of their beers and they were ok. The food however, was A+++++

  • Amanda A.

Went here with a group while in town for a conference. They sat us within 10 minutes and the beer was great! I had the dark lager (forgot the specific name) and everyone at the table enjoyed their beer. Most of had pizzas and they were tasty. I'd probably give a 3.5 if I could but don't want to lower to a 3.

Red Eye was listed as one of the gluten-free restaurants in Wausau, so I stopped in during a business trip. I had the organic veggie burger without a bun and the daily side salad (delish combo of cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers and roasted arugula). The burger was one of the best I've ever had. They do have GF buns and pasta available, but no GF tortillas for the wraps. I opted to just go bunless since GF bread products rarely live up to the "real" deal. The waitress was attentive and friendly and made sure to check with the kitchen that the food was GF. I didn't drink any beer, but the variety looked really great. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!

I think this is the most innovative restaurant in Wausau, with great beer to boot. Try the wood-oven pizzas and enjoy the bike-themed decor.

Great place. It has a good atmosphere and good quality food. I had the ribs and enjoyed them immensely. I tried samples of almost all the beers, and I enjoyed those very much as well. It's become somewhat of a go-to spot in Wausau and it's not hard to figure out why. It's simple, but good. It's not too serious and doesn't try to do too much. The menu is small, but has some great options, and is an overall solid option.

Good beer! Phenomenal food! Great vegetarian options! Try the farmers market risotto! Also must try the truffle parmesan tots!

I really enjoy this place. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the chicken salad i got this time wasn't as generous with the nuts and goodies as it was the last time I ordered the same salad. Our waitress was wonderful and very accommodating. I look forward to stopping in again.

Fantastic food and beer. Cowboy panini with cranberry BBQ sauce was incredible. Service was perfect. Nice patio area.

  • Dave C.

A bit disappointed. Beer was good - steak & potato was not. Filet was limp and cool, albeit medium rare. The twice baked potato was the stuff of bad cafeteria steam tables ... A soggy, dense, overly smokey mash-up of (I suppose) potato, grayish bacon, and a mere dusting of chive. The pizza looked good. If there's a next time, I'll try that. I'd have rated 2 stars if not for the very friendly service - and the very good beer.

The Redeye is our go to place for good food and great beer. A warm and urban style decor complete with wood burning pizza oven adds to the overall ambience. The wait staff is superbly trained and everyone has a great attitude. I love that they all have a personal knowledge of the nuances of the beer. The food is locally sourced and of the highest quality. Add all of that to a green/organic mindset and I can't think of a better place to patronize.

    1. Interesting/unique atmosphere 2. Low cost/fair price ($5 for a flight of beer) 3. Creative menu- a couple of dishes I'd never heard of before 4. Fast/Efficient service- there was a short wait for a table- but we waited at a bar- and our table was ready before we'd even sipped our beers! 5. I loved everything we ordered. The chicken mac and cheese was really good- my dad ordered the burger and thought it was great- large! My mom ordered the wings, which I thought were great- and definitely enough of them to make a meal out of!

Loved chicken mac and cheese and the truffle, parm tots!!! Great Moscow mules too. Fun place. Highly recommend.

Great beer, great food, great atmosphere. I was in Wausau last weekend for an overnight; checked Yelp for places to dine. Thank you fellow reviewers! Had a 5 cheese pizza (*almost* as good as I used to get when living in Italy) and one of the specialty beers (a oak-cask fermented sour-type ale - served a bit colder than should be but once it started to warm, the full flavor of the beer came out.) Great service too!

  • Shanelle S.

We've tried two specialty pizzas from Red Eye and both were excellent. All ingredients are local. The staff is very helpful and nice & they have excellent beer and homemade hot chocolate! The desert is well worth the price along with the atmosphere..great place!

Food was great and the service was excellent! Came here for lunch while visiting some friends in Wausau and had Lucas as a server, he was great and knew a great deal of the beer and was extremely friendly! Delicious Bloody Mary's and pizza. I would stop here again when in Wausau!

Best option for dining in Wausau. After a long, cold day at Granite Peak, this place hits the spot. We dined here two nights in a row, enjoying cold fresh beers and delicious food. We had the chicken n Mac, pizzas, and mushroom pasta and all was fantastic. Great atmosphere in a town where it was hard to find much other nightlife in winter.

Excellent ambiance, Red Eye is a really jewel. Beautiful Brewing with amazing food. I loved everything about it. Not only do they make their own beer, but they make amazing food. I had a amazing Grilled Chicken BLT and my wife had the Veggie Burger, it was sooo good!!!! We also had a appetizer, the Parmesan tots! HIGHLY Recommended.

We came here on a Friday night around 8:45. We were told on our way to our table that the kitchen would be closing shortly, so we were worried that we had come in at a bad time...on a Friday night. We thought we were being seated by what seemed to be a hostess, but after further visits, we were tossed around between two different wait persons, which made for an inconsistent dining experience. We both got salads that were delicious. Overall, we felt slightly rushed and un-cared for by the waitstaff. Particularly for a Friday night. But, the food was good enough that we would come back.

I go to Wausau on business frequently, and I always come here. If you are traveling from out of town, and you only have one opportunity to dine in this fine city, don't bother with any other place for dinner. Why? High quality, tasty food. Excellent beers brewed on premises (including the best beer I have ever had - an Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels which was, by some kind of mystical witchcraft that I cannot explain, both chocolatey and vanilla-y at the same time). Friendly staff and patrons who will help you pass the time in pleasant, casual conversation. Bonus - several times local musicians have gathered to play jazz standards at an enjoyable and non-invasive decibel level. I am the guinea pig - I've gone out and tried all of the other Wausau restaurants for you - and I come back reporting that this is your best bet.

Hands down the BEST restaurant in Wausau! Always excellent & friendly service, amazing food using local ingredients, great atmosphere, and my husband loves the beer. We visit Red Eye weekly and have many menu favorites including their fresh catch of the day, spinach artichoke dip starter (yum!!), and the cinque formaggi pizza. But honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu! Anytime friends or family are visiting this is where we take them, as well as many of our clients, and everyone has loved it!!

i had the grumpy goat pizza. it was really tasty. the service was awesome with the group i was with and there was 10 of us. i will definitely go again in the future. also i was super stoked that they let me change my reservations twice.

Food was good, had the pizza... Well done. Beer was good, although they only had 3 options. The major problem was that we were quoted an hour wait and we waited 2 hours! I asked at a hour and they said "another 20 min" which was fine. Then 30 min came and went and I asked again. We were still 7th in line. It's Saturday so maybe they got a bigger crowd then expected, but I was upset because I was hungry :-)

We've lived in Wausau since February. How is it that we just went to Red Eye for the first time last week? What a refreshing place! Stepping into this place is like stepping out of central Wisconsin. It's almost as if it doesn't belong here in Wausau and I so very love that it does! We went in somewhat early with our 10-month-old and it was packed well before 7pm - which is something I'm still trying to get used to. My husband and I already knew that we would be ordering pizza. Their inspiration is Neapolitan style pizzas and I have to say it IS more inspiration than authentic and that's great - they are just stating inspiration, they aren't claiming authenticity. The pizza is a little too thick for Neapolitan which is great considering their ample toppings - which you won't get from an authentic Neapolitan! I actually ordered the Margherita - which I always seem to do when trying a wood fired pizza place for the first time. I like to judge the sauce, cheese, crust before I get crazy with toppings. My husband ordered the Bella Bella. We ended up switching. I didn't care for the Margherita - too wet and the sauce wasn't right for me. I loved the Bella Bella and was happy to switch! I'll order the Bella Bella again - fennel sausage, gorgeous mushrooms, pine nuts and a bit of pesto. Really delicious. Service was sweet, food was brought to the table quickly and piping hot. We'll go back again for sure!

Had a great meal here. We ordered the clubhouse pizza and it was fantastic. Had one of their in house brewed beers with it and it was also excellent. Great atmosphere. We had a waiter in training, and he was very nice and helpful in selecting both the pizza and beer. He brought us a couple sample beers to chose from before we ordered. Had their dessert calzone and it was great also. Outstanding dining experience!

This has become our "go to" restaurant in Wausau. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Kevin always has creative offerings on the beer menu. Be warned, you won't get a Bud Lite. But you just may find a new appreciation for craft beer. Dave, Beth and the rest of the kitchen staff always try to keep the menu fresh and creative. Nothing is fried so if you get a pizza or wings expect them to come served hot and crispy out of the woodfired oven. Whenever possible their food is sourced from local farmers and businesses. They also have the best grass fed beef burger in town. And if you want something changed just ask. They usually can make accommodations and try something fun and new. Prices are reasonable. Easy accessibility to downtown Wausau. I really don't think you can go wrong with the Redeye.

Overall, the experience was positive. This is a kid friendly brewery/eatery. The IPA I had was hoppy and quite good. The staff was friendly, and the food was served promptly despite being busy (1/2 hour wait time to be seated). The one drawback is there really is a rather small variety of entrées, although I am sure this helps with shorter preparation times.

Had dinner here last night and everyone's meal was great! Short ribs, burger, chicken Mac and mushroom pizza were all terrific. The beer menu was not extensive, but perfectly curated so there was a choice for every taste. My son got the chocolate calzone for dessert and it was terrific. The other desserts were just ok, but the calzone was big enough for our whole family to share.

Can't say a bad thing about this place. My husband and I sat at the bar, all three bartenders were very attentive and nice. We ordered two flights (outstanding beers!), quinoa salsa (who came up with that? it was awesome!) and bella bella pizza which was terrific. Great atmosphere, great beers and outstanding food.

I will compliment and say the food was made with fresh ingredients, the food looked good.. Atmosphere, and service was first class. Unfortunately. the food was very bland, with little or no spices for my taste. Its really strange because I read other reviews of people complaining the food was too spicy. I had the Chicken Curry wrap.. Curry is suppose to be spicy.. This wasn't spicy. . My wife had the Napolitana pizza, it lacked spice, and was very bland.. My daughter had a Panini. She really liked her meal, but the Panini wasn't pressed or toasted like a Panini should be . Its nice to see a restaurant thinking outside of the box, and offering an alternative.. I would easily give Red Eye Brewing 5 stars if the food had a little more kick to it, and better parking. I realize the place probably has a very high overhead with a lot of employees, nice building, and fresh ingredients. Its expected some of the entrees will seem pricy. . I thought the pizzas were reasonably priced.. BUT I think $15.00 for an average sized wrap, and a scoop of tater tots was a little high.. If your a meat and potatoes type person, I suggest you look at the online menu to see if it is something you want to do before you arrive...

It pains me to give one star but on this night, red eye blew it. I'm a avid fan that comes every time I'm in town and came here tonight for another good experience but the hostess was less than accommodating. I'm a business traveler just looking for a quick pint and a meal and a long day of travel, but the bar stools were full. When I asked for a table for one the hostess told me it would be 30 minutes at least to wait. Normally I could understand but there were multiple tables open, both outside and inside, and it was 7:45 pm. I don't think there was a huge dinner rush coming in on a Tuesday night. I wasn't happy and thus spent my money at the Dane.

  • Zachary J.

Nice beer options, menu if ok'ish...it tries a little too hard to be a big city hipster spot and the menu and atmosphere shows this. The outdoor area is nice for drinks in the summer and the inside fine, just nothing too great here. If I was choosing between here or the Great Dane, I would choose the Great Dane

Fantastic! Overlook the odd bike warehouse feel of the building, the food and beer is almost worth the 3 hour drive from Milwaukee. We were not able to try all the beers but we tried 4. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the choices. I love to try the house burger wherever I go, the red eye burger is the best of the best. Do NOT touch those extra condiments, this baby has it all as is! Local meat and cheese, sorry all of Wisco but yeah, cheddar is meant to be white. The bun is made with the same grains used in the beers. Plus no french fries at this place, try the side salad of the day. I can't say enough about this place. Wait! Almost forgot about the Nutella calzone for dessert. Wish I lived closer.

We were up in Wausau visiting my brother and he was insistent we try Red Eye. Luckily, he has good taste in beer like his sister, as the meal was delicious and their beer selection was awesome! Amazing flatbread pizza and a fabulous waitress. She knew about all the beers, a true expert! Great experience, can't wait to go back!

Beers were enjoyable, across a number of styles. Service was friendly and capable. We had the Shrimp Thibodaux pizza, and it was fantastic... excellent crust, tasty toppings, and the jalapeños added a nice bit of heat (but not too much). Highly recommended.

Definitely never knew a place like this could exist in Wausau! Spectacular- you've given me a reason to stop now every time I pass through! Spectacular food, unique menu, great staff, great beer! I can't wait to come back! If you're IN Wausau, and don't want to EAT like you're in Wausau, get some Red Eye- your brown eye will thank you!

Fun place! Loved the pizza, loved the brews (which are always changing), and loved the fish special they had when we went. Great place for a fun date night or out with a group of friends. Go on the earlier side because there's usually a wait to be seated. However, the bar and brews help to pass that time quickly! Excited to try the patio once it's warm out. Good service too and great location in town. A must-try if you're in the area!

Well worth the multiple visits you will want to make there! Beer: They have a great selection of beer that they brew and 'guest' brews that they have where you can order from what you had probably had before. They also have a display of hops so you know the level of each beer and the hops it holds, along with the acoholic percentage... so great! I love the Raspberry :) yum! :) Food: We had the parma tator tots! Delicious to add with beer and had 3 different dips.... SOOO delicious and worth the visit!

  • Kimberly T.

I absolutely LOVED Red Eye! We got to the restaurant around 6p on Saturday night & the place was already packed. We waited for about 30 minutes for a table, which was fine since we posted up at the bar & started trying their great selection of tap beers. I rarely drink anything but Miller Lite, but their SQ Summer Ale was amazing. Once we were seated, we ordered the parma tots for a starter. They were so good! Pretty large portion that came with 3 different dipping sauces. We split the cowboy panini which was an excellent choice. We were too full to order dessert, but our server told us about a Nutella cannoli that almost changed our mind! We had excellent service at the bar thanks to Isaac & great service once we were seated. Cool restaurant with great food; highly recommend!

Their pizza is really good, other items average, burgers...crap...and I've eaten at Burger King before. Their beer is ok, A+ on effort, A++ on creativity, c+ on taste and selection. I'm not sure if Wausau is ready for the hipster biker (spandex biker not chaps biker) movement but they're always full, so maybe as the only one in town they're good for now.

Ate there last night 8/31 with my son in law. As always we were not let down. The RedEye is our "go to" place in Wausau. Have been going there since they opened and have never had a bad meal. Whenever my wife and I have company visiting from out of town, this is where we take them. The service is great, the bicycles hanging from the ceiling are a hit with me, I am a cyclist so that helps. Chef Dave and Kevin the brew master do a great job at their craft. I highly recommend this place to anyone in or around Wausau.

  • Jaclyn W.

Delicious food and beer! Atmosphere gets crowded & loud on Friday and Saturday nights but the service is still good, very efficient - I never have to wait long for food. Seasonal patio seating is really nice. Recommend the cinque formaggi or margherita pizza and the beer & brie soup is a must.

  • James S.

Updated review: Menu is much more 'robust' than it was when the place opened. Pizza was absolutely great. Beer is fantastic as expected. Atmosphere of the dining area still needs some work to make it feel less like a parking garage.

Try the Charlatan Stout! If you are an adult and want a kids pizza, it's pretty hit or miss if they will give you one. The last time I went, they did not. : /

Good atmosphere. Loaded tots were very good, bacon cheese sour cream yum. Wood fired pizza was tasty. Crust done just right. Chicken Mac and cheese will not disappoint. Vegan wrap was good and the mufalata sandwich was a different kind of good.

Been here to eat a few times and have always been pleased. Not just your typical bar food - it's a little more sophisticated. Their beer and brie bisque is simply fantastic. The beer's good too. It's pricier than the Great Dane, but the Red Eye proves that you do indeed get what you pay for.

I found Red Eye on the pub crawler website several years ago. Been here 3 or 4 times and enjoyed every visit. Good beer and nice menu. Cheerful staff. Parking can be a challenge but worth a little effort.

Not a huge fan of the beers as the blondes that I normall get left a nasty after taste. The atmosphere is pretty new age but I'm there for the beer and I didn't stay long. Although I may come back to give it another shot as I only tried one of the beers.

In town for business, came here for dinner based on other yelpers. I had the rack of ribs - some of the best I've had in years. Extremely tender, moist, and homemade bbq marinage/sauce with their own brewed beer - yummy! Serveice was very friendly and attentive, nice pleasant atmosphere, 15 minutes wait on Wednesday night - very popular place. Having worked in restaurants for many years, one of the crucial litmus tests is attitude of the folks that work there. These people were hustling, friendly, and seemed to really enjoy working there. Will definitely come here again. High Five! I tried their IPA and Belgium Dubbel, enjoyed both quite well. The IPA had a unique twist to it, not sure how to characterize it but, it was good, just different. The Belgium was quite true to form.

Simply put: This place makes living in north-central Wisconsin worth it. Some of the finest microbrews I have had. Second only to Ale Asylum in my humblest of opinions. Kevin manages to walk that delicate line between traditional and innovative; bringing the clientele beers the beers he wants to make rather than succumbing to the whims of the populace. A VERY rare approach in this part of the world. This proves that once people venture out of their comfort zone, they'll usually find that they quite enjoy it. The only reason that I deduct one point is that although I've generally found the food to be fantastic, their pizza is often a bit hit or miss and have experienced more than one that came out as a soggy mess. Don't let that deter you though! Wood-fired ovens can be temperamental.

We were skiiing at Granite Peak and were originally going to try Great Dane Brewery, but after checking other reviews decided to switch to Red Eye. I think we made a very good choice. There is nothing fancy about the place inside or out, which is fine because it's the food that matters to us - and it is good! We split a caesar salad and the BBQ chicken pizza. Both were very good and obviously very fresh. Their website states that they try to get everything as locally as possible and it shows. The pizza dough tasted homemade and looked hand tossed. They use wood-burning ovens (again with local wood) that adds a nice crispiness and a little charred flavor. I also had one of their brewed beers, which was also very flavorful. When it was all said and done we spent $36 for a beer, glass of wine, salad, pizza, and tip. I don't know if/when we'll be going back to Wausau, but when we do, I'll definitely consider going back to Red Eye.

Brewed beer.....(wiping drool off my face) How could you not enjoy right? Well I was tossed on this rating. As we waited 45 minutes for our table, which is understood bc we were a large party of like 12 on a sat night. At the sametime you start to analyze the restaurant. Too much extra space that could have easily sat more tables. Either way, it gave us time to taste all the different beers. :) My fav was the IPA. Apps - Had some definite menu winners! Apps were crawfish cakes there were def not shy w/ the crawfish. The aioli added a nice flavor. The spinach and artichoke dip was served with toast and was just a normal dip, nothing too impressive...The beer and brie cheese soup was awesome! It was def my fav thing I had, prob my two fav things together! They added some nicely diced mushrooms that gave the smooth tasty broth some texture! They accented the dish w/ a herbed cracker that was just ok. Food - Organic veggie patty sandwich w/ parm tots, instead the waitress recommended do it in a grilled wrap. Even better! I was super stoked for this but was dissapointed in flavor. It was a bland patty that I was trying to add different sauces to actually kick it up. Even as a lover of vegetarian dishes I couldnt even enjoy this one very bland veg patty. It didnt help, so I just hd to enjoy the parmesean tots! Service - This was 5 star quality! Amanda was our server and did a really awesome job...She was attentive to our table and making sure we had everything we had. Her awesome service made this brewery a 4 star!

In the spirit of openness and full disclosure, I'm going to let all of you fellow yelpers know that I am a bartender and server here. That being said, this truly is a place of magic and wonder. The brewer and chef (and most of the staff for that matter) put so much heart and soul into what they do that it is nearly impossible to miss. I have worked in the food/bar service industry for the greater part of the last 10 years (I've been at red eye for just over a year now) and the red eye is, with out a doubt, the best place I have ever worked at. I recommend our Thrust IPA for beer and our red eye burger for dinner...I order it all the time. We also have pizzas that are cooked in a wood fired oven that are just phenomenal (the Bella Bella is the best seller and my favorite as well). No one at the red eye put me up to write this review, I just really love this place and I think it's a prime example of what all restaurants (and any organization or business for that matter) should strive to be like. Cheers!

Came to Merrill to visit family and went here the first night we got here. WOW. Talk about one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. I'm from Chicago, so I've had many delicious treats, but this definitely goes into my top category. Their IPA on tap (thrust) also amazing. My boyfriend even bought a growler to bring home with us! The service was good and we will definitely be returning when we come back!!

Stopped in for dinner while visiting from out of town. The place has a great feel with the corrugated metal and cool logo. Our waitress was Amazing! I really wish i could remember her name (blond & very nice). BEER: Several of us tried the Beer Sampeler. Hands down a great deal $5 for 4 5oz beers! My favorite was the Jim Dandy which is made with peaches, it had a really great after taste. We were all impressed with the quality of the brews and the fact that you can purchase jugs to take home. FOOD: Mardi Gras Pizza with sausage, alligator, chicken and spices. Great (I'm a veg) but my boyfriend loved it!. Several of us ordered a panini, i got the portabella mushroom. The sandwich wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either, the earthy mushrooms with spinach and a mild cheese just felt bland. the sandwich needed more cheese, like sharp goat or blue, and a tangy sauce. The mushroom and brie soup was killer. overall we had a great time and would visit next time were in wausau.

I'm visiting Wausau for work and spent some time looking around Yelp for the best place and kept seeing great reviews of this location. I called ahead and asked if they had gluten free options and the hostess told me there were several options as she herself was gluten free, which I appreciated. I had a wonderful burger there and also had a great salad. Really enjoyable place to have a great dinner. The atmosphere is wonderful with the many different bikes hanging from the rafters. A co-worker of mine really enjoyed the beer they make there. Probably the best place I've been in Wausau

My fiance and I stopped in to Red Eye Brewing a few weeks ago. I chose one of their fine pizzas that they claim is inspired by Naples, Italy. The pizza had a good char on it but tasted very similar to Sbarro pizza you'd find in your local mall. I love Sbarro pizza so I was disappointed. The atmosphere is a great. Very "industrial" and simple inside with lots of metal and neutral coloring. The server was very knowledgeable about the micro-brew beer available with tons of unique selections. Be sure to try some!

  • Jai C.

It was a good experience, the atmosphere was very warm and seemed to represent the "Wausau" beer. It is a little sweeter, and if you really don't know the different beers, the bartenders are very nice about explaining, and they are very accurate. It was a good beer after a long day of snow boarding in Granite Peak...

What a great find for this tourist! Loved the beers! The El Tormento was very bitter, advertised with an IBU of 100+. The food wasn't that great, but a few more of the El Tormentos would have elevated it to gourmet status. Most of us should realize this is a brewery first and serving pub grub is a secondary pursuit. Great waiter....Lukas, he is worth his own star here. He overheard our party talking about my brother's birthday and brought out a folded desert pizza! reat touch. I'll be back.

Pretty good pizza, had the red eye. The soup was really good along with the atmosphere. Didn't care to much for the beer, but I would go back. Pizza, beer, and soup $19 not bad.

I enjoy good pizza. Pizza comes in a variety of different forms, but they can all be good, bad, or meh. Red Eye says it's pizza inspiration comes from Naples, the BIRTHPLACE of pizza. Pretty big claim- but pretty good pizza too. The crust had just the proper amount of char, but was still very light and moist. I had the Red Eye Special, which was topped with tomato sauce, fennel sausage (excellent), meaty slices of mushroom, roasted pine nuts (nice touch), and drizzled with pesto. Very well done, my only complaint being that there was actually a little too much cheese (most people would probably disagree with me, especially in Wisconsin). Slightly greaser than I might like, but a surprisingly good pie- I ate the whole thing. For a starter, I went with an item from the tapas menu, the asparagus and prosciutto. Again, well executed, although slightly salty to my palate. My server was very knowledgeable on the menu and the beer selections (as Red Eye is a fine microbrewery). Based on the kinds of beer I would normally order, she recommended two possibilities and brought me a small sample of each to try before ordering (I went with the Scarlet 7). Definitely will go back next time I'm skiing at Granite Peak.

I enjoy this place a lot. A good variety of beers and great food too. It's a smaller restaurant but has a very cute outdoor patio in the summer. It's a very trendy place and they emphasize local and organic ingredients. As a vegetarian I had lots of options to choose from.

This was my first visit to the Red Eye after hearing many good reviews from friends. I was very happy with my experience. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was nice and casual. If I had to say anything negative, the waitress was not the best, she seemed new and very nervous. The meal was a great value but the beer is pretty pricey. But overall a great meal, I plan on returning again.

Great food, good beer, good service. A fun place to go on a date or just with friends. Great location to add in a show downtown later, or to start a pub crawl. Can be crazy with families w/kids up until 7pm, then the crowd changes over to couples / friends. One of the more "trendy" places to go in Wausau.

  • Rob B.

I love this place!! I have yet to have something I did not like here. From apps to dinner, great food!!! With their own brewed beer on tap how can you go wrong? I am not one to leave 5 stars but this place is indeed unique in what it offers. I base this rating on the type of establishment, if this was a higher end restaurant it would be scored differently. None the less, excellent service & staff. Great food for the $

Red Eye is a new Brew Pub/Eatery in downtown Wausau, Wis. I have been there twice for lunch. They brew their own beer which is very good. I believe there are a handful or so. The menu is adequate with sandwiches, salads and such. Red Eye specializes in wood fired pizza's. The first time I had a pizza I questioned whether the crust was made on site or purchased and reheated. The second time I ordered another pizza, which was very delicious. The crust looked more handcrafted than the previous one. The Red Eye Special has fennel sausage, pine nuts, mozzarella cheese and a pesto drizzle. The pizza's are well priced and are artisan style, thin crust. Still not sure if they are handmade. There are other items on the menu I have tried, such as hummus (bland, tasteless and watered down). Lobster Cakes, were clearly purchased from a restaurant supply company (Cysco) and are not worth the price. I'd like to see these taken off the menu, they are a disappointment. The service is informal and friendly, which is to be expected and welcomed at a brewpub. Overall, Red Eye is a winner for an informal meal and a great pint of beer.

While visiting from the Southeast, my brother and I asked the hotel front desk where we could obtain a tasty meal, and the desk clerk suggested Red Eye. While this was early February, we didn't seem to mind the frigid, multi-block walk through a darkened downtown Wausau to find Red Eye. When we got there, we were quite pleased with the warmth openness of the space. We ordered pizza and beer, and both came out to our liking, the waitstaff offering suggestions about the wide variety of the latter. Everyone at the restaurant was very friendly, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Beer and pizza. This joint does good versions of both. They make five brews, two of which stand out: the white beer and the nut brown. Before I get to the pizza I ought to talk about what hit the table before the pies arrived. We ordered a tapinade that was generous and delicious. The house salads (Red Eye Salads) were tasty, but the dressing was overly sweet - no reason to have a honey mustard dressing on a salad that already has candied nuts and dried cherries. How sweet does one need a salad to be? Nowhere near that sweet, in my opinion. Still a good salad as long as you're careful to put only half the dressing on it. Then again, this isn't the heart of vinaigrette territory... They claim their inspiration is Neapolitan pizza, but the crust is more like Roman pizza. The lack of char on the thick crust seems to undermine their claims of an 800 degree oven. The did give is two perfectly good pies: a quattro fromaggio was as on the ball as a pie with walnuts and fresh rosemary. They make good pizza, especially when compared to other offerings I've had in Wisconsin. This is good pizza. Service was great, coming in the form of charming, attractive young women. Hard to argue with that.

Microbrewery and homeade pizza place close to the heart of downtown Wausau. Friendly wait staff and average prices. Interior has a cool industrial feel. Luv how they've utilized the older eastside neighborhood for their location. Great place to hang with friends and family.

Beer: My dad didn't really know which beer to choose, but the waitress gave him some samples (even one on the house). He thoroughly enjoyed a couple of the beers. I tried Tragically Hopped and it was so good I bought a howler to take home. Food: I ordered buffalo wings and the parmesan truffle tots. My dad and I agreed that they were both outstanding. Highly recommend the tots. He had the Wisconsin burger and raved about it. The chips didn't look too great, so get those tots for your side. Overall, I'd definitely go back if I'm ever in this part of Wisconsin again.

We stopped here on our way to Eagle River. The service was excellent, every employee we met was extremely friendly. The food was excellent. My beer was horrible, the description did not match what I got aside from the raspberry (I got some raspberry beer that I don't remember the name of). I did taste some other beers of those I was with and they were much better. I would definitely go back!

We ordered the beer samplers, mushroom brushetta reduction...shrimp skewers..badabing wrap ..side of finger ling potatoes and the chocolate pot for dessert. The guys didn't not like the dark beer ..found the lighter beers much better. The mushroom brushetta was not good...the wine was not reduced enough and it had a v bitter after taste... The rest of the meal was v enjoyable...the lemon aioli on the shrimp skewers paired beautifully...the wrap was good too. The dessert was the star..though a little high on the price.,it was delicious.I would have ordered it again immediately if KC hadn't pulled me out. Glad to have stopped for dinner at this place. Cheers !

Great beer on tap. & happy hour specials give you a dollar off! Food was fresh & delicious as well. I had the Red Eye Beer Bisque, LOVED IT. Seriously, give it a try. Also the Parmesan tots are great dipped in their garlic aioli. Friends had the Red Eye Burger w/ broccoli, and the Beer Cheese Nachos. Both raved about their dishes too. Our server was Ashley, she was really kind and attentive. She also knew a TON about heir beers and food, answered all my weirdo questions. Great service all around here. If you're in the area, it's a must!!

I loved the feel of the place and the bikes all over the ceiling were a cool and interesting twist. I understand the owner still rides a lot of them which makes it even better. I enjoyed my meal and we had great service. If I was a beer drinker, this probably would have been five stars but I think it is a great option for lunch if you're in the area.

3.5 - This is a good score!!!! A lot of breweries don't offer flight options, but Red Eye does at a very reasonable price. Four - 4 oz pours for five bucks. Can't beat that! I had their pilsner, Quad and two others which were not listed on the website, but I enjoyed each one. They were very unique and full of flavor. Well-done! The food was a bit of a disappointment for me. It could had been what I ordered (although, I tried everyone else's meal too), but my tastebuds were't satisfied after I took a bite out of my Soprano Panini and side salad. First, the panini bread was not panini bread. It was more of a pita and it reminded me of the pre-made pepperage farms packaged bread. The inside of the panini tasted like a pepperoni pizza sans red sauce and the chicken tasted like it had been found from the frozen section at the grocery store that my roommate buys that is already diced up and flavored. YUCK. Anyway, I had to order ranch dressing in order to bring my panini back to life - which is never a good thing. I could barely taste anything of their "dressing" on my mixed greens, so my ranch helped me there as well. Tastiest Dish award goes to - MUSHROOM MERLOT - most odd, and best concoction of mushroom, balsamic vinegar and red-wine reduction I've ever had. Eight out of the Eight people agreed. Could be good if...award goes to - SHRIMP FRA DIAVOLO - nothing unique about this dish, and the pasta was a bit overcooked (STOP DOING THAT PEOPLE!), but my friend ate most of it. I found this dish to be spicy but lacking any other flavor. I think more tomato and even some parmesan cheese would bring this dish a bit more life. Most far diavolo dishes I've had in the past are tomato based - Red Eye's was not. Never again award goes to - SOPRANO PANINI I saw that most reviewers gave this place 4 or 5 stars but nothing amazing came to mind to give Red Eye that rating. My group was happy. They described their experience as being "Good," but by Yelp Standards "Good" is not four or five stars. It's a three star rating. We did have a little service mishap, but the Red Eye team redeemed themselves fully (nice job!). Nevertheless, Red Eye was a pleasant dining experience.

This place is the real deal! Stopped here for our "last meal" before heading into to U.P. for a back packing trip. Beer, food, and service (sat at the bar) were outstanding! Watched the staff carry in stacks of produce from the local farmers market. Good sign!! We had the mushroom merlot appetizer and soprano chicken sandwich. De-licious! Lots of growler carry out options. Good mix of locals and tourists.

This place is always good. It's a place we always good to when we want something we know won't disappoint. It's one we also like to bring friends from out of town to and they are always leaving happy. Cannot suggest it enough. One thing I do have to say though is that their pizza isn't that great.

Pretty decent for Wausau. Alternative if you're into that sort of thing. The beer changes a lot so don't go there expecting one you previously liked to still be there. Every food item I've had has been amazing.

We came for skiing at Granite peak and decided to go for pizza on Friday night. The place was so packed and we were told to wait at least 1h so I advise to make reservation before going to that place. They have very good pizza, not too much cheese--just right and most important that is coming out straight from fire oven. The brew their own beer of which they have a wide selection. My wife had soup of the day which was very tasty, fresh made. I give it deservedly 4 stars!

My girlfriend and I had dinner here after skiing at Granite Peak- great food (the specials were delicious), excellent beer, very friendly service, and an overall great atmosphere. Love the bicycle theme. We will definitely come back next time we are in Wausau!

Such a cute little place with unique food! Staff was polite. I had the soprano panini which was awesome. My boyfriend ordered the nachos which were pretty good...The only downfall was that the cheese on the nachos had WAY too much beer and took away from the freshness and good flavor of the nachos. One thing is they should offer more specials and have more beers on tap!

Fantastic beer and fantastic food. This was an amazing surprise on our way through Wausau. If you are anywhere near here, at least stop for a sampler. As a homebrewer i am always very critical of breweries, so as a critical homebrewer, i am telling you to drink their beer. As a critical fat man, i am telling you to eat here too. Best burger i have ever had. Love the locally sourced ingredients.

For a small town, Wausau has it going on. The Red Eye is just one of many great local eateries - and a must among your top three stops when in town. It's a neighborhood brew pub, located in a real neighborhood, but just 2 blocks from the city center and Concerts on the Square. As cities this size all across the country want to jump start their downtowns, they would be well served to take a lesson from Wausau. Service was great - food was quality - prices are higher than you'd find at a shotgun shack tavern, and the ambience is great.

Overall the restaurant is not bad. We've ordered Red Eye Wings - Buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing - yummy! Woodfired Grassfed Meatballs - the sauce is good tasty but the meatballs is not enough tender.

Beer was good! Food was less than stellar. Based on the yelp reviews, I expected more. The mushroom merlot was delicious. However, the pizzas were just ok. For the price, I expected better. The flavors just didn't work together. This place was alright but definitely does not deserve #1 on Yelp for Wausau!

  • Lisa O.

Red Eye is one of my favorites! They always had cider on tap...but they don't anymore and the food keeps changing. So when I order something expecting to get what I had last time...it's different. I still like to go there but I miss a few things they used to have. Service is generally always good. A very busy place and usually a wait to eat but that's the way it goes when it's a popular place. If you haven't been there I would recommend it for the beer and the nutella calzone! The Red Eye Signature salad is what I had the last time I was there....it was very good. I miss the spicy shrimp scampi and I don't like how they have changed the chicken mac with green onions. I give them 5 stars! The pizza's are awesome!

Went there on a Friday night with a group of 8 last weekend and we had good time. Some small minor things were out of whack, like the salads coming out after the dinner. It was a simple mistake that was apologized for. The bartenders didn't know a lot about their guest taps either; I had asked what kind of beer their Souther Tier Krampus was, and she didn't know. But their beer is fantastic and the food was great. I had their fresh mussels in a tomato based broth. It was a huge portion and well made--damn tasty. The service is prompt both while seated and at the bar. My wife and I will certainly be back. In closing, they craft some of the best beer in the state in my opinion. They're not well know for it outside of the area because they don't bottle it/distribute it. But it's a great place to eat or drink at.

I love a good brewery with good food. I would for sure come back here again. The beer selection is great and I sampled a few before I made a final decision. The food was great too. I had the Red Eye Sancho burger (without ham) and I freaking loved it. I had tater tots as my side with a white cheddar jalapeno dip which was to die for. The whole experience was great. It was like being in Chicago but in Wisconsin. I almost think the best part is that my leftovers were wrapped up in the shape of a duck. Being a big Archer fan, this made my day. The meat in the burger was perfect, the tots were crispy and the beer was just delicious. If I come back to the area, I'll make sure to stop in.

Came for dinner on a Thursday night with 3 adults and 4 little kids, who immediately found the stash of toys in the waiting area. Unnecessary, as it turns out, since we were seated immediately. The bikes on the wall were a huge hit. The waitress was helpful in recommending a good beer, and our food arrived promptly. Their Bada Bing Wrap (sans sauce for me) was perfect. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to try more things on their menu. Travelling with all our little kids, I realize a group like ours is high maintenance for a restaurant staff. Regardless, we were made to feel welcomed and our waitress did an excellent job getting us in and out of there quickly - without making us feel rushed. After three hours in a van, this was a great stop for dinner. Thank you!

Visiting friends and they recommended meeting them with our kiddos at this joint. Fantastic idea! Great, friendly service. Prices were on the mark for the quality, service, and atmosphere. The menu was most definitely not typical bar food, but better summed up as gourmet bar food with an expansion beyond bar fare as well. I had the Bella Bella, a pizza with mushrooms, fennel sausage, pine nuts, and pesto. My wife had the steelhead trout. Both looked and tasted wonderful. The beers were delicious as well. I wish they bottled and sold back home, especially the Mind's Eye Rye.

The service was great and as we waited for our food we could comfortably watch the workers brew some beer. I'd recommend the pizzas or the burgers. The vegetarian pizza was delicious. All pizzas are cooked in a wood fire oven.

I give Red Eye Brewing Company Two stars. What are the two stars for? Two stars for the waitress, she was nice. Only problem I had with her was when I asked for a cup of milk she never brought it to me. The milk was suppose to come with the kid's meal. Anyways other than that she was friendly and accommodating. The Food is another story altogether. So I didn't read the total description of the Shrimp Scampi dish. I originally wanted the short braised rib but they were sold out of that and so I just on the fly ordered the shrimp scampi. Big mistake because it was very spicy. Not that I don't like spicy foods I do. But I didn't expect to be just spicy with no other flavor or taste. It was burning my mouth with no pleasures of buttery garlic flavors that I have come to expect with a shrimp scampi dish. Long story short, the waitress offered me a mushroom cream soup with rice and I settled for it. It was okay. I felt the food looks good but doesn't taste good. I did have some beer which I liked but I forgot which kind I had. It was a dark beer. My husband and other friends who dine with us that night thought the food was okay not at all worth the $93 that we spent there. I think Olive Garden would've been better than this place and I haven't been to an Olive Garden in over 5 years.

I have been here a few times when I'm in town visiting family. When we cant decide where to go. ..... we come to the RedEye because they always have great beer, great service, and great food. I had the bada bing wrap with grilled shrimp and LOVED IT. Save room for desert at this place and experience the nutella calzone! YUMMY

As a former resident of Wausau, I am impressed by the local renaissance. There's a handful of places that have opened up in the last 5 or so years that are really excellent and are trying to bring local pride to the area. RedEye is now at the top of my list for "Where to Go When in Wausau". My family and I had a celebratory dinner here and WOW is all I can say. The decor is very cool. The food is outstanding. Everything we ordered tasted great, from the chicken mac to the redeye burger to the scampi. Everyone in our group was raving. The beer was also very good and we tried a variety of their brews. Even though the place was expensive for Wausau, it was worth it and we will be back!
