The blue willow cafe has been a staple of a great breakfast place ever since I can remember, after eating here it is easy to see why. Very great coffee, food and customer service. I would recommend this diner to everyone!! Keep up the great work!!

I love coming to Wisconsin for work trips during the fall and spring. Everywhere you go in these small/midsize towns reminds you of when you went to Wisconsin or Norther Michigan for summer camp. Earthy colors, wood shingles and the smell of pines. The Blue Willow is no exception. The wood plank walls and nature print on the seat backs are awesome. The inside is L shaped with a large open area and skinny area along the side. There's also a small diner counter. On to the food! Coffee and water came immediately without having to order it. I ordered a Ham and Cheese (Swiss) omelet, hash browns AND a pancake. Note: that is very unusual from what I'm used to in my locale. I also ordered a side of bacon. Coffee was good, not local creamer though, it's imported from Texas. The omelet was very good. If you are from one of the more cheese-deprived states, be ready for the amount of cheese in your omelet to shock you. Hash browns were ok, good crisp but nothing out of the ordinary. Bacon was both crisp and chewy, a rare find in the breakfast world anymore. Now the pancakes. The pancakes were the STAR! Slight butter flavor in the pancake itself, with a big dollop of butter on top. So good. I should/could have just ordered a pancake and been happy. Definitely way more food than I could eat in on sitting, except I did. And I don't regret it. Check it out! Note: They don't take AMEX for you corporate travelers. But, if you want some good breakfast, skip the continental breakfast at the hotel and go to the Blue Willow.

It's always worth it to seek out the independent restaurant over the usual U.S. corporate owned chains! Thank God some of them still exist and can be discovered on Yelp!

Was here for the first time with my fiancé and we loved it. We had nothing but good things to say to each other about the food. I had the St. Patrick's day special and they really got it right and it tasted so good. So much flavor! My fiancé had the chicken ranch wrap and he said it was the best wrap he's ever had. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and they were at our side with coffee the moment we sat down. The prices were good too even speaking on a college student budget. Definitely going back!

Great food and service! The staff is hardworking, but it's sometimes hard to get their attention. They have specialty pies that are amazing and the food comes out quickly. Great place to take the family for breakfast.

Excellent service and the best eggs florentine I've ever had. Will definitely be back when we are in town.

Good food, huge portions! We got the house omelet with hash browns and pancakes. The pancakes had a nice buttery taste and were good. The hash browns were crispy and nicely seasoned. I would recommend, but if we were to return I would split a plate. We had a lot of food left over that we couldn't eat!

Walked in here at lunchtime. It was packed. They serve a lot of different comfort food. It was very inexpensive. I had the stuffed pepper with a baked potato. Everything was hot and very good. I got the senior portions as I saw some plates with way too much food. The staff was very friendly. This place is much better than going fast food. I sat at the counter and my only complaint was that the bus tubs are kept near the counter and when they bus the tables they bang the plates around very loudly.

According to my wife, they have the best hash browns that she's ever had. We were seated quickly on a super busy day (new years breakfast) and my coffee was never more than half empty. I was initially disappointed that I missed our hotel breakfast but after finding Blue Willow we were content.

Love the food and the staff. Visited here while staying in Wausau short term, it reminded me of home sweet home. I was happy to return daily for breakfast, the waffle was my favorite. Will definitely come back on my next trip up north.

No one will walk away from this place hungry, and its cheap too. The food is a bit on the oily side. But portions are king here. It seems like its the kind of place that is always full and noisy so it's a great place to take young children. Lots of windows and booths here. Our server was friendly. The bill for two people with coffee, tons of food, and a tip came in for $20. We will stop again.

I just wanted to mention that the owner is very unfriendly and at times downright rude. Breakfast was blah so we will come only for lunch.

I have been to this restaurant numerous times & never once have had a complaint until I went there last Friday May 2, 2014. (mind you we were there when it wasn't busy.) My french fries tasted like fish, my salad was nothing but a bowl of water under the lettuce (which turned the salad into mush & could not even be eaten, & this was the 2nd time they had to make my salad because the waitress screwed it up the first time), my shrimp tasted like fish (and it wasn't a 1/2 lb. like the menu said), my boyfriends fish (which was deep fried) wasn't even cooked! It was raw inside!! When we complained & showed our waitress, she said the manager/owner would come over & take care of it/take $ off the bill because of the food not being right. We waited 30 mins & he never once came over to the table! When I took the bill up to the register & complained to him how bad our food was, he replied "that's just the way it is" BULLSHIT!! If you own/manage a restaurant, you want to keep your customers happy. Not tell tell them "that's just the way it is" when your food is prepared wrong & don't taste like it should! I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK after what the owner told me!!!

Just returned from spending a week in Wausau for a business trip. The group I visited recommended the pie. Went there for lunch, I felt like I was at the Whistle Stop, very nostalgic. Friendly staff like Mel's Diner..lol I ordered the Tuna Melt and I must say, that was one of the best Tuna Melts that I had. Followed up with a pie, the Caramel Pecan Cheesecake Pie. The portion was huge and it was yummy.

Blue Willow was bought by the same owner as Tri City. The menu is pretty much the same as Tri City, maybe a little different. There's not much else to say in adition to what I already wrote about Tri-City. I come to this location now instead of Tri City only because it is closer to my house. Other then that, the food, service, and prices are all great and what you would expect from a family restaraunt with diner type food. It's a great place to take the family and I would definately recommend it. Oh, and they have great cheese curds!
