Little Fat Gretchen's is one of my favorite places to take friends. They have a small menu but it still has a wide variety on it (I recommend the chicken cashew salad!). They also have a large list of specials that is changing daily. Great desserts, great coffee drinks, great service. The cafe adds to the quirky laid back downtown of Waupaca.

I'm so in love with this place and come here as often as I can. Creative cuisine, friendly staff, and sometimes if you are very lucky, you will get to see Gretchen herself!! There are always many fresh pies, bars and other pastries. The coffee is good and hot and not crazy strong. Iced tea is perfect. The smoothies are AH-mazing. Keep an eye out for local artists' work hanging on the walls!

Excellent food and service. Worth the 2 mile detour off the highway. Will definitely go back. Everything was home made. Blueberry cherry pie was amazing.

Little Fat Gretchen's never disappoints! Went today for lunch for myself and breakfast for my husband. He loves the pancakes, real thick - cut bacon and sausage. I tried a special of BLT Chicken salad on a croissant and it was delightful! I also had a cup of their creamy potato soup which was awesome! We always leave full and happy and usually with some pie to take home! Today's pies were a slice of blackberry peach for my husband and cherry rhubarb for myself. We love the vintage atmosphere and great service. A great place for breakfast or lunch!

We stopped at LFG while we were in town visiting from Virginia and I must say I was more than impressed. The service by Danielle was excellent. She explained their specials, different ways to serve their food, and made great suggestions on a cup of special coffee. The food was wonderful, so much so, that we had lunch there again the next day. I highly recommend this great little place.

My second time to Little Fat Gretchen did not disappoint. It might seem like a dive when you walk in, but the quality and value of the food are exceptional. Went here for lunch with a colleague and ordered Breakfast. The biscuits and gravy are a signature dish and it's one of those "stick to your ribs" dish that will last you the whole day through. Service was a bit slow on this occasion. On my previous visit I had the Cheeseburger chowder which was excellent. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you're in the Waupaca area.

Great cup of soup and a Spinach Salad for dinner. Everything was prepared really nicely and served by a very pleasant staff. Love the retro décor!

Best place in Waupaca for breakfast. Everything is homemade and the staff is so friendly. We love the decor and this place is very family friendly.

This is now my favorite place to eat in Waupaca. The coffee is great, the staff is friendly, the decor is fun and colorful, and the food is delicious! The daily specials are interesting and many steps above the standard coffee shop fare you usually get in a small town. There are lots of healthy options and great combinations. I find the portions decently sized; generous enough but not gargantuan. I recently needed to spend a couple of weeks in Waupaca and hardly a day went by that I didn't find my way to Little Fat Gretchen's.

I loved everything about it! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, but best of all was the food. We had breakfast and the biscuits were the best I ever had. The pies are also homemade and are delicious!! And talk about value for money - all around, a wonderful experience!!!

I love Little Fat Gretchen's so much I wish I could take it back to Chicago with me. I travel to Waupaca pretty frequently - the manfriend lives there - and we go to LFG's at least once per visit for breakfast. The food is delicious and masterfully prepared, and their daily specials are always just unique enough (but not overly fussy or pretentious). Amazing, creative homemade soups, which is important to me. Big portions, everything freshfreshfresh. Perfect biscuits and gravy. Cornbread french toast made a believer out of this Savory Breakfast And Brunch girl. As a self-proclaimed expert on breakfast sandwiches, I adore their Sunrise Breakfast Sandwich on a biscuit. The first time I ate it I almost cried, it was so good. Last time I was there I had their ribeye breakfast quesadilla, which was basically a steak-n-egg platter...INSIDE A TORTILLA. With cheddar and mushrooms. It was perfect. It's also a really bright, clean, and cutely appointed space. I'm usually the kind of person who doesn't really care what a restaurant LOOKS like as long as the food is good, but LFG's is, visually, very pleasant to be in. Even the ladies room is pretty! I will fall into a very deep depression if Little Fat Gretchen's ever closes. I wish I were there now.

The definite go-to place in Waupaca for breakfast, brunch, lunch. LFG uses quality ingredients, has a charming decor, and the servers are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. They also offer interesting specials. Not only do they have outstanding main dishes, the desserts are great also. Their homemade bread is to die for! I had rated them a solid 4 in the past, but I have eaten there many times since and they are truly deserving of a 5 star "as good as it gets" review.

Travel to eat here! Ingredients are all high quality and fresh. The home made rye bread toasted was to die for! Will be back for the fresh baked pies. #BestFood The atmosphere is eclectic, casual with a real sense of being part of the community.

This is a cute retro place. Good coffee and very friendly fast service. Food is pretty good. Always has fresh baked pies that are delicious. I would pass on the pancakes unless you like them really large, thick, heavy and a bit gummy. I was hoping for light and fluffy...buttermilk style. Side order of bacon was generous. We will be back, but will be careful about what we order. I'm giving 3 stars because I believe they can do better on the food. We do like the feel of the place and again, very friendly.

Interesting place in downtown Waupaca. Worth the trip off the nearby highway if your looking for a good home-cooked meal. Prices are reasonable and serving size is large. Lunch seems to get pretty busy and the waitresses work hard to keep everyone happy, but I can be a little wait for you food or bill..... Go to McDonalds if you are in a hurry! I have an omelet with hash browns. Omelet was large and tasty. Browns were the old fashion type where it was more like fried mashed potatoes. I also had a parfait for desert. If was really good! Fresh strawberries and bananas with homemade granola. (It thought it was a steal at $2.50) I counted 8 freshly backed pies on the counter, along with cakes and cinnamon rolls. They also have smoothies and flavored coffees. Great find in the middle of a small tourist town!

Maybe it was just an off day but our experience was quite the opposite of what other reviews are showing. Not only were both orders of pancakes completely burnt, one order of bacon was barely warm and very undercooked but the pancakes, other than the burned flavor were not very tasty. The table next to us also had to send hashbrowns back because they were blackened on one side and raw in the middle. Our server did offer to bring both of us new pancakes but the first go-round had taken so long that we were just ready to leave. The pancakes were taken off our bill but in a place that specializes in breakfast, one would think they would have this down to a science. Instead the burned pancakes were flipped upside down on our plates like we would not notice but I don't know how the cook thought it was OK to serve black pancakes. This was our second time here and I don't think we will return.

this is why Yelp is such a great application because you can find the gems off beaten path. As for Fat Gretchens my son and I really enjoyed our breakfast.

When you spent the previous night pouring gnarly barrel aged beers into your face hole and as a result have hangover sweats strong enough to peel the paint off of passing cars you just want some GD biscuits and gravy and a strong ass cup of coffee. Being quite unfamiliar with the area, I used my trusted method of selection (Best name wins. Works extremely well for diners and bottles of wine). You get homemade biscuits absolutely drowning in wonderful sausage gravy, 2 eggs and toast for like 7 bucks. You cannot beat that deal. Surprisingly for a greasy spoon they serve some top notch coffee as well. This place is quite frankly awesome and everything you want in a small town diner. It is clearly a labor of love and if my hangover I ever make my way back through Waupaca I'll be stopping in for more relief.

Rosemary beef sandwich was delectable. Peanut butter brownie was worth every calorie. And they let me sit there for hours using the wifi to get some work done. Hot coffee the whole time. A solid find on the road!
