Anyone living in the area knows the Mama Mia chain of classic Italian restaurants. Since the break up of ownership, some have slight differences in pizza. Tastes differ. This is my wife's favorite. It isn't mine, but still it is very good. The main attraction for me is the classic garlic toast drenched in garlic butter. Next is the large dinner salad that that is loaded with cheese slices, pepperoni, pepperoncini, olives and what all. We always get the house dressing. If we don't have pizza, we usually get lasagna which is indescribably delicious. Garfield the Cat would refuse to be pulled from the premises. Parking is easy in a public lot right by the place. This is the only place downtown that we frequent simply because it is convenient to park.

To the credit of the owner of the restaurant I was offered a $30.00 gift card to come back in and try their food and service again after I contacted the restaurant privately to express my displeasure with the evening. I have not had a chance to go back yet as I do not live in the area and was in Waukesha for business purposes. The owner recently noticed my Yelp review more than two months after I posted it and contacted me privately to express disappointment in the review. As a diner I'm under no obligation to contact the restaurant directly prior to posting a review on Yelp. I was honest and factual about my experience and my four coworkers can corroborate that my review was truthful and accurate with regard to the food and the service. Maybe we caught the restaurant on an off night which I understand happens. However, this was my only dining experience there and it's the only way I can personally evaluate the restaurant so my one star rating stands.

I've been to Mia's several times and the food has always been superb. From salad to dessert, everything is freshly prepared. I'm hung up on the eggplant Parmesan. Finish your meal with a fresh cannoli! A little off the beaten path and not as flashy as some other nearby Italian restaurants, Mia's offers great food and friendly atmosphere.

Last time my husband was here was in 1983. Food was great then; now the food and service are even better. Ordered the chicken parm and mediterranean pizza which was fabulous! We will be back for sure.

Won't go back. Family outing of 7 adults and 3 children on a Friday evening. The place was not busy. Had garlic bread which is good if you like heavily butter thick bread. Very little garlic if any. Only adults ordered meals. It took almost 2 hours to be served food which came out at 3 different time. My husband and I were served our meal when others at the table had finished eating. The baked fish should be removed from the menu along with the fish fry. Excuse for delay in meal was due to the time it takes to make baked fish. Stick with the Italian food.

Do you like butter? Do you like cheese? Do you like meat in your salad? Then you've found the right place! Mama Mia's is one of those no-frills, old-school Italian restaurants. Nothing weird or gourmet on the menu, just classic Italian favorites like spaghetti and their legendary lasagna. (I don't know if it's really legendary but it should be.) I went there with my boyfriend and his parents, 3 out of 4 of us ordered the lasagna. If you order the meal you get a salad or soup to start. I ordered the salad - pretty standard - iceberg lettuce and the like - but my favorite part was the addition of jack cheese and pepperoni. Nothing says "salad" like pepperoni! The lasagna comes out and it's not on a plate -oh no. It's served in it's own baking dish. Like a casserole dish! The thing is huge, the lasagna is bubbling and drowning in cheese. so much cheese! (well it is WI) There is no way you could finish this in one sitting. Nothing fancy about it - meat, cheese, noodles - but it tastes so good! After you pig out on the pasta you get a scoop of spumoni to top it all off. But probably the best part about dinner at Mama Mia's is the garlic bread. Like the lasagna it's huge. It's bread dripping in butter. Get extra napkins - you'll need them. So prepare to pig out and then pig out again on the leftovers that you're sure to take home.

10/10/13 My wife and I thought we'd give Mia's Italian Restaurant a try. We had the pepperoni cheese pizza. It was okay. Lots of greasy cheese. We sat at the very well lit bar and were poured some of the biggest and stiffest drinks had. I'm not complaining. We were simply fast tracked to where we were headed. We probably wouldn't eat there again, but could be persuaded to stop in for a night cap. ;-)

Excellent menu selection, very fair prices, great wine (even the cheap stuff!), great food, great service. Our party was seated right away during busy hours on Friday evening, and the server was very attentive. The live music with dinner was fun and fit the atmosphere very well.

You like the old Mama Mia's? This used to be one, and now they have all the same recipes. You'll love it here if you like old school Milwaukee pizzerias.

If you love grease and cheese, you'll love Mama Mia's. I have been frequenting this location for 20 years. Although it has had its good and bad times food wise, the garlic bread and salad are always amazing. The local flavor come complete with a photo of the Mona Lisa.

Best thing about this restaurant was the service, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was very gross! We ordered calamari and garlic bread as an appetizer. The calamari was rock hard and the garlic bread was tasteless. I got a dinner salad with my entree and it was drenched in oil and there were many pieces of rotten lettuce in my bowl. The lobster ravioli tasted okay. It was drowning in sauce so it was more like soup than a pasta dish and several of the pieces were hard. My husband got lasagna and it comes in a giant serving dish that could easily feed 2-4 people. It arrived at the table with standing grease. Gross!!! Kids had a half cheese half pepperoni pizza that was sloppy, floppy, and greasy, greasy, greasy!!! Silverware felt dirty and fruit flies buzzed our table the entire time. The bill was over $100 for two adults and two small children. I feel ripped off!!!!! I will not go back. Gross. Greasy. Yuck. .

I've been a regular here for years. The neighborhood ambiance is great, as is the wait staff. I am a particular fan of the pizza, the ravioli, and lasagna. You can't go wrong with a meal at Mia's.

This restaurant actually isn't called Mama Mia's anymore. It is just called Mia's, after it was bought by a new owner a few years back. I think the pizza here is some of the best in Waukesha. The atmosphere at Mia's has remained the same for as long as I can recall - the lighting is low and they often play Sinatra. Regardless of what you order as your entree, it is mandatory that you get the garlic bread with your meal.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
