We stayed here for a night over Labor Day weekend and it was our first time at a B&B. The owners Bob and Louise are extremely friendly, helpful and just overall great hosts. The Inn is in an ideal location and close to everything! The property is well maintained, comfortable and makes you feel very much at home. You have access to a dinning/porch area, an entry area and a living room with a TV, couches, tables, chairs, guest bathroom, etc. They have games available, as well as a piano for those that can/like to play. There is coffee, tea and cookies out at all times! Also, Louise makes an AMAZING breakfast!! We had stuffed cherry croissant french toast, bacon, a blueberry muffin, cherry juice and coffee! The meal is included with your room and is probably better than you would get at any of the local restaurants! Our room (#5) was tiny, comfy and quaint. It had a bathroom with shower and small sink in the room. No TV, but it was not needed. There was an alarm clock and some relaxing CDs provided, as well as some chocolates. We had our lap top and watched movies after we came back from dinner. All the guests were friendly and quiet. You could still hear people from the local bar/restaurants b/c of the location, but it was not too bad. They have a parking lot in the back, as well as a nice porch and backyard. The property itself was built in 1902, but you can't tell b/c it is updated and well kept. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. If you are planning on coming here and want to stay at a B&B, I strongly suggest you give them a try!

Excellent. From start to finish. Goat cheese app, lobster bisque soup, pork entree and the seasonal Alaskan salmon... Marvelous. Debbie was a very attentive and superb server! Top notch. Watching the sunset was an amazing perk.
The dining room & view are beautiful and great attention was taken to the artwork and overall atmosphere. With that said, we left disappointed. MENU Standard options that are prepared with local products. They did not have a vegetarian option on the menu that evening. When asked they offered a pasta primavera of sorts. Kudos for coming up with something but we were disappointed by their lack of creativity and that they didn't offer a non-pasta option. FOOD I had a very tasty Summer Salad with local cherries and candied walnuts. I'm told the scallops and polenta were good as well. SERVICE Acceptable.
I so wanted to like this place, but both the wife and I were distinctly underwhelmed by the quality of the service and the food. We sat down and I ordered a glass of single malt Scotch "neat" and a glass of club soda with ice. Not too difficult - especially for a place that claims to be "renowned for creating a dining experience that rivals the brilliant sunsets seen from every table in the dining room". Well, our server brings me a single glass of Scotch mixed with club soda. Umm, what part of Scotch neat with a glass of club soda on the side did you not understand? Moving on to our meal: I ordered the Seafood Spaghettoni which was described as "Hand Rolled Pasta, Preserved Lemon, Saffron, Little Neck Clams, Mussels, Grilled Calamari, Prawns & Shaved Octopus". What it tasted like was a seafood medley (sparsely) sprinkled on top of undercooked pasta with butter. It was bland, tasteless, and pretty much inedible. I had our server wrap up the 3/4s of the entree I didn't eat but shouldn't have bothered because I just threw it away

Chaotic table management: manager/maitre-d/chef's mother seated us late for our reservation and seated tables in blocks, which led to a backup at the kitchen's salad station. The waiter service was very good and efficient, though. Food is definitely 5-stars, though assertively salted. The plates are well-coordinated with good presentation. Desserts are excellent. Atmosphere is 5-star, as well. This is a great place to visit on a non-peak night; on a busy Saturday, have an open mind.

We've been coming to Door County for 30 years and now spend considerable time here. Door County Ice Cream Factory is our favorite ice cream, and we're very familiar with all the shops. Island Coconut, anything cherry, English Toffee, Fresh Strawberry, Chambers Island Fudge are just some of our favorites -- never had one we didn't love. Soup and sandwiches are great, too. I agree its time for all food serving establishments to wear gloves, though.
I wasn't impressed by their ice cream. I think there are much better choices when going to Door County. I am partial to Wilson's ice cream in Ephraim. I think it's much better but this place will do if you are in the area.
I think they have some of the best ice cream in Door County. Good selection, decent service, not horribly crowded since they aren't on the main drag. Unlike Wilson's, where you pay twice as much and have to battle a crowd of cranky 10 year olds and their parents just to get your ice cream, this place is much more reasonable.

My tag line would be that this is a city restaurant in the middle of Door County, and by that I mean the menu isn't just pizza and burgers. The decor is nice and I found the wait staff to be very attentive and friendly. My wife and I both found the food to be good. If you're looking for a nice dinner in Door County you can't really go wrong.
We haven't been here in a long time but after finding Kristofers closed on a Tuesday night we kept walking and found ourselves at the Mission. We got an outside table on a beautiful night in August. I highly recommend sitting outside! We were just in the mood for small plates so we tried a lot of things and they were all terrific. We started with the lobster ravioli which was fabulous on a pillow of bechamel. The aritisan cheese plate was also great. We both had the wedge salad, chipotle shrimp and bruschetta. I now crave their chipotle shrimp. We also enjoyed some great wine. My only complaint lies therein. We were familiar with many things on their wine list as well as their prices. Do they have to charge more than 3 times what I could buy the bottle for myself? Yeeeesh. I just think people would buy more wine if the mark up wasn't so crazy. Service was exceptional. Our waitress was well versed on the menu and the wine list and when we had a question that she couldn't answer their wine purchaser came right to our table. A separate water and bussing staff kept our table cleared and well hydrated without feeling rushed. Bravo Mission Grille we will be back for your mid week pre-fix dinner for $28 - sounds like a deal.
I thought this place was going to be amazing as are the reviews of the place. My ravioli was dry (asparagus sauce). The salad with goat cheese was okay...drenched with dressing. The chicken and pasta combo was good, but overpriced. Nice place. But I guess my expectations were too high. Compared to the rest of the recommended restaurants I tried in Door County, this was the best quality food...just on the blander side.

Might of been the worst burger of my life. Shouldn't be able to screw up a burger unless your just awful.
Clean and relaxing. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Just outside of the bustle of the main part of town. Food was average at best and a bit expensive for a lunch. The burger and sandwich menu is a-la-carte which means $7-8 for meal plus $3.50 for a side of fries. Fountain drinks are expensive with no refills. A conservative lunch for two with one appetizer and tip was over $40. Bottom line: nice atmosphere, decent food, but a bit pricey if you are on a budget.
Man everything in Door Country closes early. We were way too busy taking pictures and savoring the awesome fall foliage on display in DC and lost track of time. We tried knocking on several doors to get some dinner and eventually chanced upon this busy bar and restaurant in upper Door county that was still open at 10pm. Got some Fish Tacos which were decent enough for bar grub. The water they served us tasted decidedly fishy so we didnt touch that. Food was decent, but standard pub fare and a combination of mexican and american food.

Drink Coffee

The coffee drinks are weak and low quality. We asked for two extra shots and our mocha still tasted watery and was very disappointing. They seem to try to make up for the lack of coffee excellence by over-sweetening. Though their customer service and tea selections and atmosphere are good, a coffee shop should simply by nature provide good coffee, and therefore I rate this establishment two stars. I wouldn't return for the drinks, but I would definitely return for the cute decor and lovely people behind the counter. The employees are the best part of the whole shop!
I am from a Chicago burb and visited just today, our last day here. The shop was not busy, and the iced mocha was fine. But I was charged 13 dollars for two cookies a petite cinnamon roll and one muffin. We only ate some of the items as the energy bar cookie was blander than bland and the Cinnamon roll was the texture of cardboard. I wish I were exaggerating! Girls, if you are reading this, throw those cinnamon rolls away! Try all your goods before you sell. Also stop taking yourselves so seriously! They are just baked goods. Let's not charge entree prices and not even be up front with customers about what items cost.
Breakfast for the foodie crowd - interesting flavor combinations with large portions. Great coffee (thank you Anodyne Coffee Roasters!) and good pastry. Very small, so expect to be cramped - and the line may take a while to get through because the cashier is also sometimes the barista. Have never actually had a cookie from this place, but the selections usually look beautiful. We go here at least once during each annual vacation - great little place!

HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE!! Service sucked!!! Our waiter barley said 2 woods to us!! Waited 1ons for drinks!! People after us got their food first! Will NEVER go back!!
Food was average to below average and expensive. Nearly every dish involved ordering 'sides'. Waffle (1) was flat and soggy. But, this wasn't the bad part. I've never had such RUDE service! It's a small, crowded place with 2 or 3 waitresses. (Although I did see the cook serving, too. At least she was nice). One young girl sat us. I had to later ask for menus. I asked her for coffee and never received it. 10-15 minutes later I approached the breakfast counter to inquire how I order. The older waitress told me, in a sharp tone, "No, you don't order here. Where are you sitting?" She took our order, reprimanded my teen daughter for not speaking clearly and off she went. Later delivered food and was clearly frustrated with no place to set her tray on our table. When my other teen asked about her side of sausage we received another nasty answer "I don't have any room on my tray, do I?" Then at the next table we heard her complain about all the rude people coming in today. I never did get my coffee.
Overall, the Carroll House was nothing special. The food was rather cheap, but it wasn't that good. The place is really small. Very forgettable place. They're only open until 2 pm as well.
