Nice lunch spot in Shullsburg. Good broasted chicken, good service. Great broasted chicken! The gift shop next door is nice. They offer a wide range of products including many locally made. If you are in the area and are looking for more than fast food, check it out.

This was our first visit to The Brewster House in Shullsburg. It's conveniently located adjacent to and attached to the Shullsberg Cheese store - featuring wonderful Shullsberg Creamery products, which we love. Rachel was our server, she was energetic and "home town" friendly. She served up the deep fried pickle chips with pepper parmesan dressing - delicious and hot. I had the Reuben - perfectly prepared corned beef, chopped and topped with a full scoop of sauerkraut. She had the Reuben sans the corned beef, served with extra Swiss cheese - equally delicious. Our home cut fries were tasty two. We both tried the Pecatonica Nightfall Lager, brewed in Monroe - served with frosted glasses, perfectly chilled. Our visit to Shullsburg and the Brewster House was fun, thanks to everyone at the Brewster House. The next time you want to taste some quality products from Shullsburg Creamery and some "home town" hospitality, stop by the Brewster House. We wish Shullsburg Creamery would bring back their fantastic "Italia" frozen pizzas - they were the best.

Friendly service, good food and good price. Building used to be a hotel in the 1800 so there's a little bit of history. Cheese and gift store right next to the restaurant.

While visiting family in this gorgeous part of the world, we came back to eat here for lunch. We had been there decades before, and it was a pleasure to return. The old downtown Water Street was torn up, but luckily the Brewster House was still open. We entered through the cheese shop--so many cheese varieties there! For the past 3 years, I had shopped with this Shullsburg cheese company online and purchased gifts through them, so it was an unexpected pleasure to visit the shop in person. The atmosphere in the restaurant was bright with a Victorian feel, lots of historic framed photos on the walls, very clean. Our server was prompt and cheerful. For my husband and I, the only menu items aside from salad that we could eat, were the cheese sandwich and the veggie sandwich. Their soups were made with chicken broth. I'm not a big dairy person at all, but I ordered a grilled sharp cheddar on sourdough and it was delicious. The others at our table enjoyed their meals very much as well. We also enjoyed their large selection of locally brewed beers. That has become something I enjoy as I travel. You can really get a taste of the locale from the beer. Always an adventure! So all in all, I'd come here again when in Shullsburg, though with an understanding that the menu is limited for vegetarians. You're in a small Midwestern town, so I'd expect this. It remains a delight to visit Shullsburg.

Service was a HUGE bummer. They were really busy, and its a small town, but.. we waited a long time to be acknowledged, and have our order taken. The food was good once we received it. Cheese curds and cheese soup were of course a good pick, it's Wisconsin :). When it came time to get our check - we again waited FOREVER and eventually I went up to the register and had them track it down. I probably won't return, when in Shullsburg, we usually visit the place next door - the pub that was the old bank, can't think of the name.
