Log Cabin: defined as diner food that is served in a log cabin styled Up North house. Friends of mine always stay at the adjacent hotel, so I come here with them many times. I've often had their omelets and skillets in the morning. Hash browns always look underdone, but are cooked through (why don't they turn brown?). Don't be turned off by the staff asking how you want your eggs in Eggs Benedict, because if you request the obvious: "poached," then you will not be disappointed. Other dishes that have been good are their fresh fruit summer salads. Plenty of fruit and nuts or other toppings, and great fruity vinaigrette dressings. Of course like other diners, they have meatloaf, and liver & onions. One of my guests had the liver & onions once, so I tried a piece, and it tasted flavorful and had good texture. I don't usually like liver outside of a pate, so if anyone else really wanted liver & onions, then I would definitely come here.

Log Cabin has a special place in my heart. I came to the old Log Cabin with my grandfather when I was a kid. Today we will visit the new Log Cabin whenever we visit from Milwaukee. The breakfast food is my favorite and the waitress is always friendly. Recommended

After reading the reviews, I wish we had gone for breakfast instead of dinner. The restaurant is clean and maintained but the décor is a little dated. I ordered the steak sandwich and it was like a piece of shoe leather. Really bad. My husband ordered the fettuccini and said the sauce was horrible (it was really watery). We will not be back. I don't recommend coming for lunch or dinner!

Good breakfast. The corned beef hash was out of a can. Nothing fancy, but that is what I was expecting.

I ordered the Haystack Skillet. (Hash browns, ham, onions and eggs with shredded cheese on top). I was surprised with how quick my meal came. Normally I would be super impressed but in this case I am not too sure. I believe that everything was pre made except the fried eggs. The only thing hot on my plate was the eggs, the hash browns were warm at best and it made me think that they were sitting in some warming tray waiting to be used. The cheese on top did not even melt! Overall the taste was good (I did have to salt a bit) but I have to give the average rating due to the lack of freshness. In this case I would have rather waited a few more minutes and had the "skillet" part of my meal sit on the grill a little longer. The restaurant was very clean and unique (Log Cabin). Waitstaff was attentive and friendly. The host however never even made eye contact while I was paying my bill. (I guess I'm losing my charm a bit)!

This restaurant has been around for a long time. I remember going to it when I was a kid and I worked there when I was in college. The Log Cabin is a local landmark; everyone's been there. Its a medium sized family restaurant with a large menu. Everyone can find something they want to eat. Its decent homemade eats at a decent price. The Friday Fish Fry is tasty and the All-U-Can-Eat pancakes during the fair are a deal.

It's perfectly fine dinner food...we have not been here for breakfast, which is their declared specialty...just absolutely nothing spectacular. We had to wait quite a while for the server to notice we'd been done for 20 minutes, though, to be fair, it was 7 o'clock and, therefore, the busy time of the evening. The food was ok. The selection was ok. The drink menu was limited...it really is just fine for dinner if you don't want to cook. But it is far from the best place in town.

This is the kind of place you go to when you're not sure what you want and food quality takes a backseat to curbing your hunger pangs. We ordered Denver Omelets with extra crispy hash browns and english muffins. We were served lukewarm food with pale white potatoes and burned muffins. The waitress offered no apology for the burned muffin, only stating that they like to run through twice to make sure they are cooked. They should have been so concerned over the undercooked potatoes. If they don't care about giving me lukewarm burned food then I don't care to spend another cent in this establishment. Restaurants like this are profit driven and making quality delicious food is not a consideration.

Great food, great family atmosphere and just a super place to grab a bite. Come as you are and enjoy it!

Best breakfast in the Wausau area. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant is always impeccably clean. The #1 is my favorite: hash browns, egg, ham, and english muffin. If you order coffee they bring you a pot. no waiting to get your coffee refilled. Top notch place!

Despite the mixed reviews, I thought this place did a solid job on traditional Midwest diner-fare. Breakfast served all day (can't beat that!), order coffee and you get a pot let on the table (hey, sometimes quantity and convenience beats quality), generous portions. My wife thought it was greasy but I'm not sure what she was expecting, ordering some sort of "skillet scrambler". Had a massive menu with lots of traditional comfort food. I gave up pastries and pie long ago but what they had in the case looked tempting.

This really is one of the best breakfast joints in town. Even when there is a wait to be seated (it's obvious why there's a wait, because it's worth it) the service was always good for us, very friendly staff. And the food comes out timely and I have never ordered something I did t like. This is one of those places you can take that chance ordering something out of your norm and actually enjoy it.

What a find! We were visiting the area and visited the Log Cabin for breakfast. This was one of the most well managed places I've ever seen. It is impeccably clean and the service was outstanding. When the food servers weren't waiting on customers, they were circulating in the dining areas, or tending to other tasks. Our party of five went there for breakfast and we all had excellent meals. In fact, someone in our party ordered the steak and eggs and said that this was the first time she has ever ordered steak for breakfast, where the steak arrived exactly as she ordered it--medium rare. The icing on the cake was that in addition to the regular jams/jellies you see on restaurant tables everywhere (grape, strawberry, etc.), they had blackberry jam. I have never seen that in any restaurant. It's the tiny little details like that, that can really make a difference. Well done, Log Cabin! We will definitely be back.

The Log Cabin use to be an awesome place to eat. The last three times I've been there have been a disappointment and I'm not sure I'll go back. I usually order breakfast but the eggs have been extremely greasy, bacon and hash browns ordered crisp and were barely cooked when I received them.

Stopped in at 2AM for a late night brunch and coffee. Log Cabin is a friendly diner with typical, tasty diner grub and a bottomless cup. I'd definitely go back again.
