Great emergency shelter to get out of the cold and snow. Although it does smell a little smokey.

My family and I were traveling from Minnesota to our home in Virginia it was around 10 or 11pm the kids were hungry so we decided to go here being that no where else was open . We ordered 2 whoppers, 4 chicken fries, and an order of onion rings. We drove around to the window to pay and get our food and the young man informed us that their grill had just caught fire and we could either change our order or wait about 15 mins for them to get our burgers ready. We waited. In the 15 minutes we waited they came out 3 times to apologize. When our food was done they brought it out to us along with an entire batch of fries and onion rings a large milk shake 6 coupons for free meals and toys for all our children. They were super nice and even though we had to wait they made it a good experience . Best service I've ever had at any restaurant let alone fast food.

Love the Rueben pizza with sauerkraut! Good taco salad and chef salad too. Slices avail. The Brooklyn sammie with cream cheese and pastrami is awesome with double meat. Take and bake or hot and fresh! They deliver. Not open Sunday :(
The pizza here is amazing, but it's very greasy. The sandwiches are good, but the pizza is better. Minus 1 star for being closed on Sunday.
Looove the pizza and the taco salad. We eat here or carry out every time we're in Rice Lake!

I grew up in a region of the country known for their Mexican food, yet I found what is possibly the best Mexican food I've ever had in rural Wisconsin. I had their pork tinga, which was so amazing. Soooooo amazing. Standard service, standard decor, standard tex mex menu, INCREDIBLE food. Incredible.
I wish I could give higher rating, I was disappointed. Multiple children were absolutely screaming from the moment we walked in, I don't know if it was kids eat free night. We were seated exactly next to the children when there were clearly several other spots available. Our food came out fast, though it is what actually earned them 3/5 stars. It was hot and made as described on the menu but my shrimp were bland, no seasoning and there was an unnecessary amount of white cheese whiz on top. The same happened with my mothers beef tacos, they tasted like absolute ground beef in shells. No cumin, nothing. If I traveled through again I might try them, but I'd order something different.
There is not a better Mexican restaurant ANYWHERES period!!!! Burrito California and cheese dip is by far the best and I've had the whole menu at least once. Go here if in rice lake you will be very happy you did.

Best Chinese in the area. We usually do takeout; always very friendly, quick service. Large portions, reasonable prices.
Hit and miss. - Egg rolls are great - Great service for lunch - Frequently when I order take out there is no one in the restaurant so somewhat concerned about longevity. One of these occurrences was when I ordered Lo Mein and the noodles were burnt. Did not notice till I got home and opened the container but the whole restaurant smelled of it. They should have obviously re-fired the dish. - The Friday fish fry is interesting and unique
Judge a place on its fried chicken. They did it right! Fairly priced for generous portions. Nicely updated decor. I would expect top notch across the board.

Best *nice* restaurant in Rice Lake. Butch & Trudy run a great ship & a grand family tradition that spans generations. They even let spouse & I bring our own particular brand of bubbly for our anniversary & didn't charge corkage. Fried chicken and popovers are not to be missed. I'm partial to the swordfish and crab legs. French onion soup au gratin is a house specialty. Horseshoe-shaped bar is very conducive to socializing without being rowdy. Wonderful vibe, esp. on those typical 10-below-zero winter nights up there!
Classic supper club from a great dry martini, through relish tray to on site aged beef. Food was well prepared and tasty. Popovers were exceptional. Desserts looked good to but we were out of room! Would eat here again if in the area.
This place is pretty good for Wisconsin. I ordered the shrimp plate and it was medium sized but they give you salad and a potato so you leave stuffed anyways. The dining room, however, is very dark and mildly feels like you are eating in the cafeteria of a retirement home. They also have a good wine selection and full bar.

Excellent service! Devyn was just fantastic. Food arrived quickly and tasted wonderful. Great Jack Daniels pork chops but rolls were a bit on the hard side. Nice atmosphere, interesting decorations and you could hear others at your table. Will stop in again.
Great atmosphere but the food was average and the service perfunctory. Maybe because it was 2pm. I had pulled pork burrito. Not much pork.
Great place for lunch. Rolled into rice lake after red eye flight plus 2 hr drive,4 Adults, 5 kids, all hungry and punchy. Super nice waitress/hostess, very friendly, got us all set up quickly. Pretty much anything you'd like on a pub menu, fries were super yummy! Kids loved the log jams, burgers, everything. My sis appreciated the locally raised grass fed beef burger, and the Reuben was great! Overall a good stop!

One of the more interesting places to eat in the Rice Lake area. A very diverse menu with a more 'metropolitan' feel to it. Although not required, I would suggest 'resort casual' dress or better to feel at home. The setting is GEORGEOUS: nestled in the middle of the golf course. Choose a window with a view of the 18th fairway for a beautiful backdrop to your meal. The lunch menu is very reasonable.

Maxine’s

Reviews:
Maxine has built the best breakfast destination in Rice Lake over the past 25 years, and her Bissonette family offspring is continuing the tradition, with daughter Debbie coordinating the dining room and grandson Bryan running the kitchen. The omelette was huge, the sausage patties were not greasy, hot coffee was plentiful with a pot left on the table, and our friends' Eggs Benedict was perfectly done. Looking around, every chair was taken at 10:30 on a Saturday morning! I daresay no other Rice Lake restaurant can make that claim. They're only open until 1:30 daily, so plan accordingly. See you at Maxine's someday!
The sausage was burnt, eggs overcooked, English muffin burnt. Maybe it was a bad day for chef. Waitress was very pleasant and friendly .
We stumbled upon this little gem and loved every bite. The breakfast was better than home cooked and the people were so friendly and engaging, Very efficient, very affordable. And Maxine was there behind the cash register-whatta sweet lady! Highly recommend!
