We were not impressed at all with this restaurant. My husband and I were just passing through town And found this place on Yelp. When we put our name in we were told the wait would be 'a few minutes', it needed up being 40 minutes instead. When we finally sat down the service was very slow and the food, when we finally received it was sub par and not with the wait. The waitress didn't check on us regularly and we had to flag her down to get refills and the check. All in all it was not worth the wait or the price and I wouldn't recommend this place.

I haven't been to Robert's Roost in 2 years but decided to make the trip from Skokie with my husband for a little getaway. The place is still the same. The prices are reasonable. The hours are 6 -1 and we barely made it in....we saw others being turned away....I think the least they could do is extend the hours a bit and perhaps add a few sandwiches/salads to the menu for the lunch crowd. Anyway, both our coffees were cold and were sent back...I just had an egg which came with hash browns and toast or biscuit and I ordered a side of sausage. The sausage was BARELY cooked but tasty. My husband had the veggie omelet which he enjoyed. There are so many places to eat in the area that we are going to try another on our return.

This is a review based on 3 visits. Visit 1, 12 weeks ago, party of 4, 9:00 arrival for breakfast on a Saturday - 43 minute standing wait, 1 hour 18 minute order wait, half of the order was cold. Visit 2, 6 weeks ago, party of 4, 10:30 arrival for breakfast on a Sunday - 14 minute standing wait, 1 hour 57 minute order wait, half the order was missing, including donuts ordered Visit 3, 3 days ago, party fo 2, 10:30 arrival for breakfast on a Sunday - 11 minute standing wait, 44 minute order wait, including 20 minutes after order waitress came back and said they ran out of the "special" which was the Country Fried Steak. Ordered substitution of 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon & hash browns. Pancakes were excellent, bacon was at least a day old and tasted that way. Hash browns were cold and tasteless. Result: We will never visit this establishment again. Resounding the comments of others, wait staff are sometimes clueless, but the kitchen staff must be idiots because a place that small should be able to turn around meals under 15 minutes 100% of the time. We always believe some places can have bad days, but never 3 times in a row.

This place is great! I pass it at least once a week and am disappointed in myself that's it's taken me over a year to finally pay a visit. This building is beautiful inside and they've added cute, kitschy decor to go with their theme. There aren't a lot of tables, but be patient, they free up quick enough. They also have outdoor seating. (We're doing that next visit!) The menu is just right. The right amount of choices and a little bit of something for everyone. I worry when a restaurant tries to be all things to all people. They have a nice selection and add in a few daily specials to keep you wanting more! I can't think of another breakfast place in Racine that I would recommend more (and once I have lunch there, I might have to update my notes!). Stop reading this and get over to Robert's Roost!

Terrible service, rude owner. Went in there on a Saturday for brunch, waited about 1 hour for our food. Waitress could not do math, so she messed up our bill. She was nice enough and apologized. And since she couldn't figure out how to fix the bill, she asked for help from the owner. Instead of fixing it and apologizing, he comes over yell at us for making him do work. Because his staff messed up! Very rude, does not know the meaning of good customer service. I am very disappointed with the service, especially since I am a long time customer and have eaten there plenty of times. Refuse to go back.

I was here at some point in May 2012......This place has potential. Randomly wandered into this place on a Sunday, starved and hoping for yummy lunch. Walked in and then noticed they were closing within 5 minutes. Was still told it was ok to sit down to eat. We were only offered breakfast. Insert sad face. Great Great Great home made biscuits and jelly. My omelet was filled with uncooked cheese. insert sad face again. Hence the reason I feel this place has potential. Fun outdoor seating on a very quiet street. Love the homey feel of it. They get an extra star because of the outdoor seating, friendly faces and potential to be great!

Ordered a breakfast burrito which was delicious and substantial. My only complaint is that after seeing my daughter's "happy holidays benedict", i had not ordered that. Everything was tasty and the service welcoming and warm. Ok...my second complaint is that i live in Arizona and can't eat here more often.

Even though I only have one customer in the Racine area, it's where I end up eating the bulk of my meals throughout the week. I have been to Robert's for breakfast twice and both times it was delicious. I highly recommend the cinnamon sugar donuts, they are a most excellent way to start breakfast- they literally melt in your mouth. All of the breakfast food I've tried is excellent- eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, etc. And the cute, kitschy atmosphere is great- exactly the type of place Racine needs. All and all- it's a great breakfast spot.

Decent food, huge portions, and efficient staff will make this a place a keeper. Had the veggie omelet, which was typical and very cheesy. Came with a choice of toast and hashbrowns. People here get excited and as for the special jam, which was nothing special and I wouldn't have told the difference between this and smuckers. Got the pancake with two eggs and it came with a choice of toast or biscuit, which I found odd since it's usually one or the other. Came with choice of breakfast meet. Cute interior. Love the bricks and bar.

Great service! I had an omelet and my friend had pancakes. The omelet and sides were delicious, but the pancakes/syrup were incredible!

First time at Robert's Roost and it was fabulous. Food was tasty and the atmosphere was great. We didn't have alcohol - but their Bloody Mary looked delicious. We had donuts, eggs, biscuits, pancakes, ham and hashbrowns. All were tasty. The coffee was great too. And it was less than $20. Totally recommend.

The only reason for the 4 stars is that the service is pretty slow. The little cake doughnuts were good. Tender and fresh. I had the veggie omelette with Swiss cheese. The hush browns were well cooked but the omelette itself was just a bit greasy(could have been partly due to the cheese). The owner seemed friendly enough and he came out of the kitchen to chat with the regulars. Overall not a bad place for bloodies and breakfast but not good if you are in a hurry.

I am extremely disappointed with this place. I live in Los Angeles but am from Racine and frequent breakfast places when I am home visiting family and have come to this restaurant before. My experience today could not have been more opposite from my other visit. I try to give restaurants a bit of leeway when I'm home as I am a bit jaded from our high expectations of service in Los Angeles, but no amount of understanding could rationalize our experience. To begin with, we waited an hour for our food. Not to mention we also had to help ourselves to the coffee from the server station because we were checked in on so infrequently. Which, can be understandable sometimes but usually when accompanied by some form of apologizing for a backed up kitchen etc. Our server did not check or offer reason once until 45 min into our wait when we had to ask ourselves. The server had informed us that he was new, but basic customer service skills were not even there. He was just clueless. After our multiple inquiries we were told a manager would come out and talk to us. 20 minutes later we received our food and still no follow through by a manager. It wasn't until we saw what looked like the owner saying hi to another table AND my aunt cut herself on a sharp wire on her chair that we were able to get his attention. Of course our disappointment continued as he didn't want to "make excuses" but rattled off reasons that were just that. When we asked if the addition of the new outdoor seating could account for it, his response was "Well the kitchen didn't get any bigger." He even said that "If we do come back again, he invites us to sit by the kitchen" so we could see "that no one is standing around doing nothing." Not sure how anything he said was supposed to make us feel better. Overall, there was no effort to rectify the situation besides empty apologies and excuses. Sad thing to is the food is actually pretty good. I don't think my family will come back again.

Bloodies on Sunday! Doesn't get better. This is my favorite brunch spot in Racine by far. They have a cute, rustic restaurant with an outdoor patio in the summer. The owners are always there working hard and hassling the customers (in a good way.) The food is wonderful - pancakes that will keep you full for days! I sincerely get excited when I visit the roost because it feels "special" but not pretentious in any way. If you go on a Sunday, expect to spend a little time there because it is a busy place - but well worth the wait.
