I made a more recent trip! Update time. Despite coming in shortly before close (which I hate doing, because...y'know, it's kinda a dick move), the server was super friendly and attentive. My friend and I both had a lasagna special. It was really saucy. I enjoyed it. The salad bar is pretty well stocked, even later in their dinner service. It seems like they're on the right track. +1 star.

This place is surprisingly good! I have known of B&B Hitching Post for some time now. I have family that lives in Portage and we would often forget about this being option when we wanted to dine out. We decided to try it one night during the week and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, quality of the service, and the cleanliness of the place. Everything was perfect. The soup and salad bar provided many options. The menu had tons of different choices. I had Cod which is available any night of the week, it was really good! Another family member also ordered Cod. The third person decided to try the chicken strips and he described them as home made and VERY good quality. The waitress was very personable and even had a southern twang to her accent! She was quick to provide the check when asked too. The only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars was the fact that we never received our appetizer, cheese curds. We asked for them and requested we get them first. We never did get them, when we received our food we decided to forget about it. They weren't on the check either so we didn't get charged. Generally I'd say something but we celebrating an occasion for a family member and I didn't want to sound like I was complaining. We will be back for sure!

Enjoyed the prime rib. The food was okay for the most part, since it can be considered as an Olive Garden with its unlimited soup and salad buffet style. The overall feel of a local diner or restaurant. In addition, there was a very eccentric waiter. Since this place is in the middle of nowhere, I would most likely come back if I am around the area.

The server was friendly. Nothing special. The salad bar was decent. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin and shrimp. The shrimp was really good. The sirloin wasn't cooked enough (I asked for medium well) and wasn't very warm. So a little disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the 16 oz prime rib. He said that was really good. Prices were reasonable. Glad we had a Bucky book coupon though.

Had a wonderfully delicious meal this evening (bacon wrapped pork tenderloin). Staff was very friendly and attentive, not to mention easy on the eyes. Will definitely return the next time I'm in Portage! :)

My family and I had dinner here and it was the best food we've had in a long time! I had the ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection. I also highly recommend the beer battered fries and if you get ribs (also super fantastic) get the house BBQ. So delish!! It was all so filling yet we still made sure to save a little room for homemade pies. You can't go wrong here. Our server was also a sweetheart! Great service and great food!!!! Just make sure you don't pass it up!!

I had breakfast at B&B. The service was terrific! The waiter was very friendly and didn't even get annoyed by all of my questions and alterations to what I was ordering. The Bloody Mary was fabulous one of the best I have ever had. Not too spicy but just enough to make it flavorful! I loved that they had quite a few selections for breakfast which in this area is uncommon. I went for an omelet with crab meat & asapargus and it was super yummy! I think this will be our new choice for ladies breakfast dates!
