Unless you are a college kid, this really is not your scene. The place is a bit dirty and a bit crowded. There is nothing which really sets itself apart as a great bar. The drinks are a bit pricey for a college town and the music is ok. I have ordered three typical drinks at Mabel Murphy's. 1 - Rum and Coke. Yes, everyone likes to get their monies worth but over pouring ruins the flavor of any drink. 2. - A melon ball. Typical drink. The bartender not only had never heard of it but asked me how to make it. 3 - A cosmo. It was awful. It is a martini without vermouth and instead cranberry juice. Not tough. It was not great. Something about it. It just did not have that fruity, crisp taste. This is a neighborhood bar trying to dress itself up as something classier. Ladies - Do not, I repeat, do not use the restroom here. This place is great as a college student because there are tons of young people to talk, have a drink and move on to another place.
