Despite the fact that a large retirement party was going on while we dined in the upstairs area of Bonnie's, this place has ambience. It's clearly run the way it always has been, and probably by the same folks, but that's part of the charm. You won't find anything crazy or exotic on the menu, but if your grandpa wants a good dinner on his birthday, as was in our case, he'll get it. The entrees are also classic (prime rib, filet mignon, chicken alfredo), and they come with classic sides. The food is actually surprisingly exceptional, though the salad bar is disappointing. Then again, you're in Wisconsin. What do you want but a pile of shredded lettuce and dressing? If you can get the seasonal vegetable medley and roesti (a hash brown-like concoction with onions that is to die for in the way your grandma's classic casseroles are) with your entree, you're going to have a great meal.
