Stopped in after Summerfest return bus ride. Tried a pepperoni pizza. Not bad. Friendly server too.

I'm definitely a huge fan of Paulie's. I've stopped in on a couple tuesdays for their burger special and I have been more than satisfied each time. Normal burgers are $5, specialty burgers (including the double cheeseburger) are $5 and fries are another buck or two. Great seasoned burgers, quality buns and real friendly service will keep me coming back for more and more. Maybe I hit the jackpot for finding them on a cheap night, but this is one of the best burgers in West Allis...if not the best.

Place is OK and convenient to the Milwaukee Mile across the street. Food is general Pub fare and average at best. Service is very good and staff remember us each year when we are in town for the Indy Car Race located in the Fairgrounds. I would recommend stopping by if attending an event Fair related.

Decently priced drinks, great service, and shuttles to summerfest!!! What else can you ask for!?

Been sitting on the patio for about 15mins with no service. Really? And I would've stayed for another drink and food. Bartender and waitress had no clue. Plus waitress goes from Paulie to the Field Trip no wonder we got no service.

Paulie's is a cut-above the rest sort of place. Plentiful menu without going wild. Great wing selections, and great sauces. Always personable waitstaff. Great stocked bar.

Normally I really like this place, but today's experience was horrible. I took the shuttle to the brewer game- waited forever to get a wristband and then when I got back, couldn't get a drink. It was noticeable even to the couple sitting next to me. I've never felt more unwelcome and won't be back. (I was drinking water at the game, too, so it's not like I was over served or something). Super disappointed.

Paulie's is as comfortable as an old shoe -- maybe a little smelly, but on a Saturday afternoon, there's nothing you'd rather have under your feet. I've had a lot of fun in this building. I'll never forget the time State Fair (across the street) lost power and everybody left the grounds and seemingly headed to Paulie's. (Might have been Bunker's -- the business that occupied this space prior to Paulie; I'll call it Paulie's, whether it was or not.) With a dearth of electrical power, things that needed refrigeration were carted off the fair grounds. Some genius thought it a good idea to bring cases of yogurt to Paulie's and share his rapidly warming cultured milk bounty. It was all well and good until Paulie's patrons realized that yogurt and beer go together like Adolf Hitler and Bette Midler ice fishing. Next thing you know, drunk people were hurling yogurt everywhere. Yes, Paulie's was the site of my first and only yogurt fight. What fun! Paulie's is also the home of my first Double Bubble experience. Well, that may not be entirely true, but I've never seen anything quite like Paulie's. We were just sitting there nursing our beer and munching some nachos when a bell rang. 9 p.m. -- the start of 2-4-1's for two hours! Man, the place became a buzzing hive of activity. Bartenders poured tirelessly as locals lined up 3-deep at the bar to take advantage of this great Saturday night deal. Honestly, we would've left at 8:55, but once we discovered we could get two Captain and Cokes for only $5, well heck, only a fool would leave then! Besides great specials, Paulie's has a nice variety of draft beers and serves better than average pub food. In fact, their wings are right up there with Milwaukee's other chicken wing luminaries. There's a good number of TVs for checking out the game and the service is always good. Not surprisingly, however, is that there's no yogurt on the menu. But that's okay, West Allis is more of a frozen custard kind of town anyway. ;)

I went late Sunday evening with a friend of mine. I had 2 Corona Lights and my friend had two Angry Orchards on tap. Bill was $20. I thought that was a bit pricey at $5 a piece for a drink. Plus when I went for a second round it took over 5 minutes to get served. The place wasn't busy as one bartender was busy restocking and the other was talking with patrons at the bar while counting out receipts. Both saw me but continued on with their other duties. I figured they could've stopped for two minutes to just get the same drinks I ordered.

Not bad guys, not bad. We watched the badger game at the sister bar next door (paulies field trip). You literally order the food at the bar and they walk it over from paulies eater. We ordered wings (hot and spicy bbq) they were pretty dang good, and the hot was especially tasty. Next up-sausage, mushroom, onion pizza, also very good. Others have mentioned the crust is exceptional-I agree. Lastly, nachos, could have used more cheese but overall good. I was surprised at how good the pizza and wings were. Would definitely be back. Paulies field trip also carries a good selection of micro brews. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood.

Yum! Great food. Italian beef with Parmesan ranch chips (ask for extra Parmesan) delicious. We were in town and watched the Iron Bowl. Great place. Service was excellent. I hope to go back when we are in town again.

Massive, diverse menu. The portions are huge so I'd recommend sharing some entrees/appetizers if you can't decide! I've only been once, but had the cheese breadstick pizza with marinara dipping sauce. Fantastic. Also had a taste of the mozzarella sticks. Freshly made, not the usual frozen kind. The meatball sandwich that a friend had looked delish. Great outdoor seating area in the summer. Our server was attentive and friendly. Kept our beer topped off!

If you go in expecting a Milwaukee pub, you will do okay. I have never been much of a drinker and thankfully my formative years were shaped in a town where drinking/bars/pubs were not the loci for social development. So I realize that I am visiting only a small percentage of the spectrum of eateries in MKE because of my disinterest in pubs. Anyway, Paulies was across from an event we were working at State Fair, we were hungry and it was open. The staff - well, grumpy but trying to smile through it. We did not need to hear that the girl who was supposed to be our waitress was late, again, to work. She forgot some of our requests as well. Ambiance - a pub, and darkish. Bar with booths and bar tables around the parameter. There was some outside seating but it was too chilly. Food- We had burgers, ruben and onion petals/rings. The burgers were pretty good, fries were okay, onion petals were made well and mom liked her ruben. So, food was okay - nothing stellar but not bad. Friendlier staff might make it more appealing to return to.

I started going here on Tuesday nights for the Racing Round up Show. The sandwiches here are very good and loads of people seem to enjoy the pizza. The best part of this place is that they always seem to have plenty of staff so your not waiting around too long and there prices are very reasonable. They offer shuttles to games and Summerfest. Friendly staff and big selection of food items along with a Happy Hour!

  • Mollie S.

Friendly fast service. Small menu, I had the BLT wrap which was pretty good with fries. The fries are very basic Krinkle cut - small serving. My friend had the basic cheeseburger and fries, with cokes, total was 22.00- a bit too high

I've been to Paulie's many times over the years. Each time I've had good experiences with their food and their larger than average selection of tap beers. It's one of the better bars in the area and I've always enjoyed myself there. Probably because I've taken the shuttle countless times to brewer games and I used to live down the street. With a 2 drink minimum (non alcoholic drinks also count) how could one pass that up? There is also trivia one night a week with gift card prizes if you're into that.

Well, in my previous review I mentioned that I've been going to Paulie's for years and that I have never had a bad experience. I'm sad to say that streak came to a screeching hault last night. I was with a group of friends & we decided to hit Paulie's for a little late night pizza after leaving Wednesday Night Live at State Fair Park. We knew it would be busy, but we managed to get a table anyway. My friends beat me there by a few minutes so they were already at a table and had water when I got there. I was just about to stand up to go to the bar & get some water myself when the waitress came over. I polietly asked her for a glass of water when she had a moment. After several moments of uncomfortable silence & my friends looking at me questioningly (did she hear you?!) she finally responded with "yeah". OK ... that was a little rude. Finally got my water & she dropped off a pitcher for the table. Good to go ... some guy brought us stands for our pizzas, no one ever brought us napkins or silverware so my friend went & grabbed them herself. Our pizza took a very long time to come out, and the waitress never checked on us again. Someone else sitting with us was on a separate check & had ordered earlier, so she tapped him on the shouler (while he was still eating and while in mid-conversation) to give him his bill. The rest of us were sitting waiting for quite a while before our bill ever even came. Worst service I have ever had there! The pizza was still delcious though, it's just too bad she was so horrible that she killed the experience for us all! If I could base my rating solely on THIS experience and THIS server, it would certainly be 1 star, but damn, I like the pizza! :)

From the MEATY wings, awesome pizza and the best fish fry I've been able to find on the west side - this place rocks!! I've partied with Paulie for over 7 years now and can say that without a doubt there is no better place I would want to relax and unwind with friends for a great meal and friendly service that makes me feel that I'm sitting in my Living Room :)

Not bad if you're looking for pub food. We went this time at lunch. The mozz sticks are awesome. They had a pizza, soup, and salad bar going on for $6.99 all you can eat. Smelled good. I went with the meatball sandwich and my hubby went with the rueben. Couldn't complain! Fries and chips were good. We'll be back.

My second mistake was not turning around and walking out when we were greeted by a snarling "hostess" who informed us that there was no room to sit outside. Ohhhhkay, we cautiously replied, might we be seated next to the bathroom or in some dim corner then? Our friendly waitress rescued us and things looked up for a while.....until my friends' food came but mine didn't. No, I didn't order anything complicated or excessive. I went with a grilled cheese - mistake number 3. Really, how do you manage to screw that up? Not only was it late but the cheap processed cheese didn't even span the width or length of the bread, wasn't melted, and the bacon tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill. Even the water had a foul taste. My friends' meals - a cheeseburger and fish fry respectively - were adequate they said. The owner and his mother, a sweet lady who makes the rounds of the tables, were truly nice people but I never want to step foot in there again.

Paulie's menu has changed recently as have their specials. I liked the old menu and old specials better. The servers are generally nice especially Lynda and Kristen. The patio is nice and the wings are excellent. They can't seem to cook a burger to order. 3 stars maybe a little harsh but needs some improvement to get a 4. I'd say best bar food in West Allis area.

  • Scott B.

I really like Paulie's Pub. First, let's talk entertainment: they have the better local and regional bands playing on saturday nights with no cover charge and a great double-bubble an hour before the band starts at 10pm. Secondly, the food is really good, and more importantly, reasonably priced for a good portion. And as mentioned in other reviews of this place, the pizza is AWESOME! Also, they have a loyalty program (Paulie's Party Patrol) that can save you a few dollars here and there....OH, and the make-your-own-bloody-mary bar on the weekends is pretty cool!

  • Chad C.

Definitely an interesting place. The TV's were way too loud (playing the Milwaukee Mile today or whatever it was, yuck), but our waitress was super nice and gave us great service. I'd been here once before and gotten a salad, and that was a bad move. This time I returned to try their Legend Larry's wings. Legend Larry's is a really great wing place in Sheboygan... but I never have any reason to go to Sheboygan, so I went to Paulie's instead to see if the wings were as good as at the original Legend Larry's. They were. Great wings, 8ish flavors to pick from. If you are into chicken wings this would be a good place to check out.

Waitresses and bartenders are great and friendly!! Always willing to play some dice!! Great food with new menu and good specials!!

    (5)
  • Lauren D.

Disclaimer: this review is for their Monday night wing special only. This is my favorite go-to wing spot in the area, mainly because they use Legend Larry's (of Sheboygan's) sauces, which are phenomenal. Paulie's will give you the choice of sauce-on or sauce on the side, breaded or plain. One star off just because they raised the price from 25 cents to 50 per wing!

Paulie's is super-packed on weekend nights and when large events take place at the state fair grounds and Milwaukee Mile right across the street. They have a double-bubble time frame on Friday nights from about 6-10 p.m. It gets very smoke-filled, but that should end with the statewide smoking ban beginning in Summer 2010. They do have a patio now. The service is inconsistent. I've had excellent service about half the times I've gone and poor service the other half. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground. There's a good mix of men and women, mostly in the 24-35 range on weekend nights. The food has always been good when I've eaten there and they have good deals at times.

    (3)
  • Patrick T.

The Bar - I'm not really a big fan of the bar. It's super crowded on Friday and Saturday night and really smokey. The ban will help fix this come July 2010. The Food - The food from the restauraunt is far above average. I enjoy the italian beef, burgers, fish fry, crab legs, but most of all the PIZZA! Far better that Mia's right down the street and any national chain. Thin crust and delicious! The service is okay. It's an all female wait staff there to get guys into the bar.

  • Jake N.

This bar is ok. The only downside is the clientelle can be interesting at times. Some days it's going to be dumb frat boys, and other days Nascar fans. There are women that go to this bar, and they don't look too bad. However, they have a aire of skank about them. I should preface this by saying I'm not a fan of Nascar. Period. So race days it's stupid packed with the Milwaukee Mile right across the street. After the race, a lot of the people are so lit up I wonder how they're getting home. Normal nights it's ok. The food is good, reasonable priced, and good service. Drinks are decently strong, and reasonably priced. All in all it's a good bar if you're single or a race fan.

    (3)
  • Justin E.

Owner does creepy strip club introductions and that makes me giggle. Food is good and drinks are excellent. Outdoor seating is nice during the warmer months. Drinks are reasonably priced and they are always running specials.

What happened? This place use to be awesome. At least looking at the patrons (if there are any) will make you feel good about yourself!

My Worst Dining Experience of 2009 Ambiance - You typical American Corner Tavern. Staff: Oh Jeez - where to start. We were told we could seat ourselves so we choose the patio because the inside was really smoky. The problem is the patio is right on busy Greenfield Avenue so it's loud with cars buzzing by constantly. Not exactly relaxing. The waitress took our drink orders and came back with them. We put in an order for potato skins right away because we were starving and said that we'd order our dinners once we had a chance to look over the menu. We were then left for 15 minutes, at no point did the waitress come back to see if we were ready to order or to explain why our potato skins were taking so long. When the potato skins arrived they were luke warm and the cheese had started to harden back up. We placed our orders for food. I ordered a Mushroom Swiss Burger - very rare with chips. My boyfriend ordered the Brat with chips. She walked away and we realized she never brought flatware or even napkins. I decided to just go inside and get some cocktail napkins myself. I enter and our waitress is right there ringing up our order. So I ask "Could we have some napkins?" she looks at me doesn't acknowlege my request and says "Did you order chips or fries with your burger?" Ummmm.... okay you literally took our order 15 seconds ago, what would you have done if I hadn't come in looking for the napkins you neglected to give us? So I reminded her I wanted chips. She rewards my answer with napkins. I return to the table and decide to time how long it would take for our dinners to get to the table. Turns out it took over 20 minutes!!! At no point during that time did she return to see if we needed beverage refills, how our potato skins were, or to let us know what was going on with our orders. Unacceptable. When she finally brought out our food she drops it at our table and says "I hope you both wanted chips because I couldn't remember when I rang you up." What? How can that be? I was standing next to you when you rang the orders up and you even asked me if I wanted chips or fries because you forgot?!??!?! I just glared at her. The food was horrible and I will address that below. She did not stop back to see how our meal was until we were finished eating. She asked if everything was okay and I explained what was wrong with the food. In the waitresses defense she did remove our dinners from the bill. Food: Potato Skins: Had they managed to get these to our table while still hot, they might have been good. Mushroom Swiss Burger: The waitress asked how I wanted done, and I stressed, VERY RARE. I can't stand well done meat, it makes me retch. What was brought to the table was a gray well done burger. It was awful. Add that to the bun that was dry and crumbly and this thing was a disaster piece. Brat: Dear lord just thinking of this brat makes me sad. It was the dinkiest, driest, most shriveled and charred brat I have ever had the displeasure to see. It was served on a gigantic hard dry roll. No toppings to speak of. Just a dry brat on a dry bun. This is Wisconsin, you can't serve brats like that here, we know better. I've had better brats at gas stations. I brought all the food quality issues to the waitresses attention. She seemed confused when I told her the burger wasn't rare, I had to tell her to look at it herself so that she would understand. As I said above she did take our dinners off the bill. She said that there was a new kitchen staff that hadn't been fully trained and said she was taking the meals off so that we would come back. I appreciate that, here's the thing. I still wouldn't come back there was too much wrong with our dining experience that can't be blamed on the new kitchen staff.

The best "To-Go order" experience ever! On Friday 4/4, Friday, 4/11 and Saturday 4/12 I called in some pretty large orders with no warning ahead of time. Each day we ordered anywhere from 11 - 20 orders. Everyone I dealt with that took my orders were patient and super nice. The kitchen never missed a beat. Not only was the food terrific each time but there was not one mistake. I usually have the worst luck with to go orders as most orders are always messed up but not at Paulie's. They even wrote everyone's name on the containers for us. We are a busy accounting firm and this time of year we appreciate good food and great service from our neighboring businesses.

If you don't get the pizza here you are missing out. If you are scared off by the bad reviews here go there during lunch. They used to have a $5 all you can eat pizza buffet. Their pizza is ridiculously good. (I think the secret ingredient is they put beer in the crust, but that's just a theory). The pizza is easily top-5 in Milwaukee.

Great happy hour. Buy 1 get 1 till 6pm. Reuben sandwich is awesome, they use real brisket slow cooked in house. Think its on special Wednesday. Pizza is well above average. I normally never order a chicken sandwich as they are usually dry. not here. They use legend larrys sauce on the wings, which is so much better than plain old franks red hot. often have live music on weekends with no cover. Recommend.

Paulie's is a decent choice if you are in the area. I walked in with a Reinhart Food Service guy on my second visit. That pretty much sums up the food here. I don't think anything here will blow your socks off but you won't be disgusted either. The menu has a lot of choices and the service is good.

Friendly fast service. Small menu, I had the BLT wrap which was pretty good with fries. The fries are very basic Krinkle cut - small serving. My friend had the basic cheeseburger and fries, with cokes, total was 22.00- a bit too high

Paulie's is a decent choice if you are in the area. I walked in with a Reinhart Food Service guy on my second visit. That pretty much sums up the food here. I don't think anything here will blow your socks off but you won't be disgusted either. The menu has a lot of choices and the service is good.

Recommend.
