You should go to Lucille's Rockin' Pianos if: -You want to hear songs you can hear 14 times a day by just turning on a pop radio station (ie. Jesse's Girl, Sweet Home Alabama, Don't Stop Believin') -You like to be surrounded by idiot, unoriginal bachelorettes that drink out of penis straws and stand up to yell "Wooo" every time one of the above mentioned songs is played -You enjoy paying for expensive watery drinks (shot glasses are less than an ounce in size) -You want to pay $5 cover to squeeze yourself between overweight middle-aged women and some anorexic girl's cleavage -You want fat men in loud shirts playing piano for you -You enjoy pointing your finger at brides-to-be and yelling "You Bitch! You Slut! You Whore!" (I'm serious...the idiot bachelorettes volunteer themselves to sit on the piano and hear this) So there you go, decide for yourself.

This place is a must-see if your either living in Milwaukee or visiting it. They have a rotating circuit of piano players, a circular stage with 2 pianos (hence--dueling), and an attentive staff. The owners are very nice and actually care about your visit. The piano players are lively, fun, and always seem to engage the crowd. I have been to a number of dueling piano bars around the country and this place is tied for my top one (along with a place in Little Rock's warehouse district). It's not a chain-bar, so you get the uniqueness of a locally owned bar that brings in top notch entertainment. The drink prices are in-line with other clubs and they also have a grill/kitchen. The location is ideal because it's close to other clubs, the Bradley Center (Bucks, Mustangs, Concerts, Marquette) and the Cell (UW-Milwaukee and the Wave) as well at the Milwaukee theatre and Turner Hall. It's within walking distance to all of that and a number of hotels. They also have things going on during the early-week, if I remember right. It's been around since 2002 or 2003 (?).

I've been told to check this place out a few times, and to be honest, it's fun to say you've done it, but it's not that exciting. A friend wanted to check it out for his birthday, so I finally tagged along to see what it was about. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, it's a bachelorette party trap. There were at least 2 there on the Friday night we were, and they were all very obnoxious, loud, and wasted. One girl got a hold of a whistle and could not leave it the hell alone. It was very unpleasant. There was the proverbial "sh-t show" going on with the group behind us. A girl had spilled her drink all over her shirt, proceeded to eat the face of some guy nearby, and spill the rest of her drink on the floor. None of it was interrupted or cleaned up after. The not cleaning up party is what really bothers me. People seem to be there for group gatherings, and if you're not the bridal party, the rest seem to be sleazy guys who are there to flirt with said parties, and drunk college students who carry their ID to avoid the cover charge. The ladies' room had an attendant, which obviously wasn't doing her job, because I got the use up what little toilet paper was left in my stall, and women who did check for it had to move to other stalls. I can't stand them to begin with, but one that isn't doing her job is even worse. No, I'm not giving you $1 because you have a counter filled with cheap make-up and perfume, and you handed me a towel. There are pros, though. Our server, Stephanie, was very sweet and attentive to our group of 5. The 1.5 foot drinks are $10, which isn't terrible because it took me a while to finish off my blue raspberry margarita. There were also a handful of $5 martinis, which isn't so bad either. Other bars are better value, but you're paying for live entertainment as well. The piano players were relatively talented, and a group of 4 rotated during the night. I guess they take requests along with tips, and as another reviewer said, most of them are for drunk girls and cost lots of money to get. Most of the requests are lame parodies; one player replaced words in the free credit report song with more vulgar terms. It was really awful. I don't really understand how the pianos dueled, either, as it's just 2 guys taking turns. Overall, it's a neato place to experience, but I probably wouldn't go again since it was mostly a disappointing and embarrassing experience.

I have always had a great time here. I love the dueling pianos! They can play anything! Also if you give them $20 they play your song next. This place is just so unique! I have gone here multiple times and I don't have a problem getting a drink from the bar. I'm pretty sure its because people are paying attention to the music instead of leaning on the bar for support! They also have decent drink specials. Especially their margarita deal! The bartenders and the servers are all very nice and attentive. If you have a group they can accommodate for that as well.

I'll agree with other reviewers in that this place is filled with bachelorette parties!! In fact- part of the show revolves around it. They are constantly up with the pianos and dancing on the little stage. It gets so that you forget you're at a dueling piano bar wanting to listen to music, you feel like you're just at a party for these women. And- do NOT forget to make reservations ahead of time here on the weekends, or you're just out of luck. If you're looking for more music, less bachelorette paries- go to Howl at the Moon in downtown Chicago. But still a neat place to enjoy one evening if you've never done it before.

Love it! Been here quite a few times now. Coolest live show in town! Two pianos and drums taking song requests. They bring in piano players to play with the local players from all over the country (We saw a guy from California and a woman from Nashville recently.) So the show is always different depending who's playing and what the audience requests. They can go from Spice Girls straight to Billy Joel and then Great Balls of Fire. Drinks were reasonable. Good specials on Thursdays. Okay! Here's how it works. Last time we were there I saw a lady get all huffy and come up to the piano and take her, like, $3 request back and storm away. This request was surrounded by five, ten and even some twenty dollar song requests. Why do you think it hasn't been played yet? On a Saturday, the price can get high to hear your song right away. And bachelorette parties are putting up like $40 to get their girl on stage. After midnight it chills out a little. On Thursday, you can get a song played for two bucks. We usually put up requests for like five bucks and they get to them pretty quick. If it's busy put more. Or don't. Just enjoy the music. We'll definitely be back!

If you ever want to be swarmed by cat calling woo girls and played typical popular music by okay piano players, this is the place for you. The prices are over the top and the piano players voices are high pitched and rival only those of the Bachelorette party woo girls. Save your money and attend festivities elsewhere.

I definitely would not come here unless your forced to come with a bachelorette party like every other schmuck that comes here.... the idea of it is really cool the piano guys play almost any song u can think of and make fun of the bride and embarrass her and that's all fun but this place is so run down. We were one of the first few groups here and they ran out of chicken tenders, they ran out of menus so we couldn't get a drink menu then they took our ketchup and mustard then they're fridge went "out" and they served my friend a warm beer with a cup of ice??? Then another server walked up and took her cup of ice?!? She didn't really need it anyways who drinks beer in a cup with ice? Service is very slooooowwwww it took our server almost 40 min to come back after she dropped the check so we could pay our tab (they take your credit card and didn't give it back when she brought our check so we couldn't even pay cash and then leave) and on top of that we were all charged for the chicken fingers that they "ran out of" but this place is so loud and unorganized the server could barely hear anything you had to say. Stay away very far away from this place unless you want a cheesy as heck bachelorette party it would've been cooler if they played better music but if was mostly what a bunch of girls would play on a jukebox at a dive bar I would never go here on purpose...,,,,

Have you ever been to a dueling piano bar before? If so, think of the douchiest, skeeziest person you've ever met, and put him on the piano and you have Lucille's. listen, I know what piano bars are all about and they're pretty much all the same- small town tourists and bachelorette parties. I was with a bachelorette party and cringed the whole night at the giant asshat with the huge teeth playing the piano. We stayed until it was our bachelorette's turned to be humiliated with a gross song- though I will say that it would probably be a lot funnier if the piano player weren't such a troll. Drinks were gross and way over priced. I wouldn't return here if you paid me.

Omgsh what an amazing idea for a bar: dueling pianos!!! A friend of mine brought me here for my birthday because he knew I loved music, and what a treat! Listening to the two pianist back and forth with request from the crowd, it was seriously awesomeness! There were birthdays present (mine included), bachelorette parties present, and lovers of music present; what an atmosphere! I highly recommend to all, and while I don't remember the price of the drinks, I'd say bring cash because that's how you can get your requests advanced.

Very friendly staff, great atmosphere. Dreamsicle martini was awesome. Fun time, had a blast, will definitely go back when we are back in town.

I visited Milwaukee and went for a walk to find this Gem! I totally enjoyed the R & B Band, they were outstanding singers and musicians! Friendly waitress who checks in to take care of you. Great to know Wednesday nights could be so much fun! I will definitely be back!

Visited this past weekend for my Bachelorette Party. Nothing too special. They change the words in a song to make it dirty to embarrass people. Kind of funny, but meh. They played a lot of really laid back music for a Saturday night. To be fair, we are all used to the amazing piano bar that is Sluggers in Chicago, so our expectations were really high. We hung around for about a half an hour and then headed out to find something better. There is an amazing bar about a block from here. As soon as I find the name, I will add a review. Had the time of our lives there.

This place was awesome! My fiancé and I went here this last Saturday (3/21/15) and we ended up staying for almost three hours. We didn't have reservations, but we were able to come in with another group, that said that we could say that we were with them. Good people. Anyways, the three piano players were amazing. They were talented, funny, and entertaining. Couldn't recommend that place more. We were hesitant to go in because of some of the negative reviews, on here, but my fiancé talked me into checking it out anyway. I'm glad she did. One of the highlights of the weekend.

Located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, Lucille's may just be my new post Admirals game tradition. The location is very convenient, a block away from the Bradley center, and just a few blocks from Water. They have live dueling pianos on Fridays, and the performers drink as they go, meaning that as the night goes on and the livelier the crowd, the more entertaining the performers become. Keep in mind that they take requests, and if you give them a decent enough tip, they'll play literally ANYTHING. Ever see a scrawny white boy sing Aretha Franklin and DMX? I have. I've been there a few times, and it seems that the crowd varies from being full of college kids, to a nice mix of younger people and a few older groups as well, and it mixes perfectly. They have a full bar, as well as wait staff that can bring you food/drinks as you watch the show, and once the ball gets rolling, the live music becomes a bit more interactive as they invite people up to the stage to sing along, or dance, at the mercy of the crowd. Prices are decent, and you can expect to pay the same price you'd find at most bars downtown, but the bartenders make the drinks strong, and mix them well. One of the only downsides is that when it gets busy, it can be quite hard to get service, and you might get seated in a spot where you can't see the live music very well, without leaning around a pillar. I have to say that this is a great place to go with a group of friends or a date, and one of the few places downtown where you can legitimately start a friendly conversation with a table next to you, and it's perfectly natural and even welcome.

Two pianos. Decent piano players. Bad sound. Bad ambiance. Ok. So the pianos players are good. They just don't have the venue to perform. Not a good spot for a dueling piano bar. In fact, this place kind of sucks. As I type this - they are dying for people to tip $20. Haha. And the drumming. Pretty bad. Don't come here.

Stumbled upon this place and had a great time. Brilliant pianist (plural.) Stopped in on a random Thursday and enjoyed $1 domestic drafts and $2 1800 tequila shots. Well worth checking this spot out.

Awesome vibe if you are looking for great music. I did go on Saturday so I am not sure what it is like on a weekday.

A specialized and cultivated bar. I've never seen so many bachelorette parties in one place. The place was full of women, about 10:1. The pianists were adept performers and adroit at working the crowd. The piantists took bribes to play songs and bachelorettes were routinely brought on stage to be roasted. There were routines and rules specific to the bar. Such as, all drinks brought on stage were to be chugged instead of placed on the "$40,000 coasters," yelling "Lucille, you *****, you *****, you *****" to the bachelorettes at the end of their roast, and certain drink specials (see photos).

Great time every time! The food has really improved and the piano men and women are so talented and fun.

This place is like Chuck E. Cheese for adults. You go once or twice a year (usually for a birthday party) spend too much money, eat a bunch of greasy foods, drink a bunch of empty calories and then you are set for about 6 months. The piano players are great, but they are kind of dicks about how much you tip them. They should just say 10 bucks to request a song and if you want to tip more to get your song moved up, you can (someone tipped a dollar and they were making fun of them. Ha! Poor people) As has been previously stated, the crowd is mostly Chad's and Stella's intertwined with Birthday and bachelorette parties. They have a decent beer selection, but their mixed drinks are pre-made, syrupy, and heartburn inducing. I feel like if someone were making a Milwaukee travel guide, this would be a spot they would recommend, even though us locals know of far better spots.

  • Alex R.

Potentially my favorite spot in the whole city. Not for the bar, or the food. Purely for the unabridged sillyness that erupts upon entering. I have never eaten here but I have danced until closing on more than one occasion. Typically we have been known to take over the entire back section and boogie like no one is watching...eventually the lights come on and we must part. The dueling pianos a great and occasionally they let up audience members or guest artists who really have great chops make sure you request your song otherwise the song list can get stale. Leave your preconceived notions an attitude at the door be ready for a good time. avoid Saturdays if possible.

  • Jason K.

If you are looking for dueling pianos, good drinks, and singing your face off, this is your place. Rule 1 is to get here early. it gets packed. Next you need to settle in and loosen up with a couple drinks. By 10-11 it will be packed and the singalong songs just keep coming. The more you tip for a song, the quicker they play it. It's a blast, especially with a group. We had a group of 20, got there about 745, and had no problems. It's one of our favorite bars in the city

    (5)
  • Patrick H.

What's there to say? There's dueling pianos. Hopefully they're better if you go than when I did. The crowd was pretty tame as well. The bouncer did give me a high five for doing the splits off of a table...as well as the boot. Oh well.

Forget Lucilles! I was looking forward to having my bachelorette party at Lucilles and my Maid of Honor called to reserve a table for our group a month in advance. When we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time there was no table and 'nothing they could do' to find room/compensate for us. Monday we called to follow up with person who set up our reservation and she told us her manager informed her they might be really busy, but that she didn't want to call us to change your reservation since we made it so far in advance. WTF?! For a place that sees a lot of bachelorette parties I think they would be more equipped to handle them. Frustrated we left for the Whiskey River Saloon which was a great time.

Meh is a good way to phrase Lucille's*. It's a hive for Woo Girls and Woo Boys who want to hear the same cliche songs that one would hear at karaoke on any given night. The fact that they want to pay 20$+ bucks to hear most of (they skipped two verses) "American Pie" is pretty funny, though. The pianists themselves are pretty good. Well, two of the three are really good. The third is a beat weak. It's annoying how they'll drag a song out two or three times it's normal length with chatter and banter. "Sweet Caroline" took forever for them to get through. I don't mind a bit of the banter and stuff, but sometimes they drug it out far too long. The food is okay. I had the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato with fries ($10). I wasn't disappointed with the grilled cheese. It wasn't taste bud orgasmic, but it was good. My husband had the mac n cheese which was, I think, excellent (especially at $5). I've read a ton of reviews about the drink prices and it's true that $12 for an Absolut Dirty Martini is excessive, but the beer prices weren't bad. You could get a pint of Lucille's Lager from Point Brewery for $4 (along with your usual macro and relic beers at that price point). The other beers ranged from $5 to $8 (Ephemere Apple). I felt like drinkwise they offered a variety of choices from ridiculous fish bowls to yards of margaritas to wine and beer. A choice for every mood. *I admit, I'm biased about piano bars having spent years in New Orleans.

This was my first piano bar experience, so I don't have anything to compare. We were here for dinner, drinks, and the show for a bachelorette party. We planned on eating elsewhere, but when that fell through we resorted to Lucille's for dinner... and they welcomed us right away even though we were early for our reservation. The staff was great, service was on cue for drink refills and any other requests. The singers were talented, especially the girl. I enjoyed the show and the competition, but many of the songs I couldn't sing to because I didn't know them. Kind of ruined the experience because here I am drinking with the girls, but I can't sing along. It'd be nice if there was a theme to the music each night, maybe. I don't know- like I said, I've never been to a piano bar before... The food was really good. I just had a turkey wrap with salt & vinegar chips (yummm). It was really good. Some of the girls had pasta dishes, which looked amazing and tasted just as good too. I just wasn't keen on carrying leftovers around once we left Lucille's. =P The drinks were yummmmmmmy! The Federline was our groups favorite, it was really delicious. Wouldn't want to know the sugar or calorie count though! Haha. All the drinks we got were great, no complaints! I'd come back for the food and drinks, maybe for some music, but probably not for the "piano bar" effect. I guess it's just not my thing!

Worst piano bar I've ever been to. Their cover charges / table reservation system / $20 credit card minimum are over-complicated and poorly advertised. Also questionably legal. There is nowhere to stand in the bar. The piano players are offensive and did not play any songs after 1992. Lots of drunk cougars taking disgusting "shots." We got the $4 margaritas that were pretty much straight sweet and sour, no alcohol. The bathrooms reeked of urine. Skip it.

  • Becky Y.

My sister really wanted to have her bachelorette party here and you know what? We had an ok time. I think this was mostly due to the amount of alcohol consumed before we got there. Really this place is like any other bar and for that I would give it 4 stars. Here's the but. The pianos take song requests and so I requested a specific song and paid for it. They said ok no problem we'll feel free to take you money for this specific song and then play a completely random OTHER song that you did not request. Normally I'd be ok with this but I picked a silly song (Fat Bottomed Girls) because my sister gets really easily embarrassed and I thought she would be ok with that choice. They changed the song to Take it on the Run and sang about her having herpes. I have a sense of humor I really do I promise and had it been me up there I would have laughed it off but I could tell she was really uncomfortable and it just kind of bummed me out because who wants their sister to have a bad time at her bachelorette party. What's worse is that an hour later or so they played Fat Bottomed Girls so they obviously knew how to play it. I don't know, I just thought it was a jerk move. I won't be back. That being said our waitress was a sweetheart so the service otherwise is good.

Always a pretty good place to go. I haven't ever been blown away by this place, but this latest visit came awfully close. We ate at Molly Cool's next door so we got in without having to pay cover. We asked for a table and got some reserved seats for our group of 8 immediately. We were with a birthday girl, so that may have helped us. Great service as well. The entertainers didn't have the best voices, but I was certainly impressed by their versatility. Very up beat and fun crowd. Warning: graphic language and loud atmosphere are likely.

  • Beth B.

I was in from out of town and some coworkers told me that I just had to check this place out. I went on a Thursday night, there was a really light crowd but it was a blast! What's not to love really -- two pianos playing songs that you want to hear. Yes, please.

  • Michael G.

What great fun! The piano players were fantastic and they know hits from every decade. However, 4 of us ate dinner there and the food was not good. The mixed drinks were not good either. Eat elsewhere and get there by 7:30 for good seats. Drink beer or soda. Spend the several hours there... You are guarenteed a really fun time. Only 4 stars due to the quality of the food and mixed drinks.

  • Alicia K.

The piano players here were pretty good. Had a bit of an attitude when they were asked to play song's they didn't like. The staff were not very friendly and kept moving us to different locations. Overall if you got here early enough to get a seat I think the experience would be good.

I received a voucher for up to (10) complimentary admissions when I was attending the bridal fair a few weekends ago (I shared with their marketing rep that my fiance has never experience dueling pianos). A friend of mine was visiting from San Francisco, so we decided to take advantage of the complimentary admissions and give her the Lucille's experience! We had a fantastic time! We were able to reserve a few tables for our crowd - and had fantastic (prompt) service for the duration of our stay! They played all of our favorites to sing along (off-key, of course!). My fiance was "coerced" to get up on stage for some inappropriate fun - at his expense (might have been the highlight of our evening!!!). All in all, it was an extremely enjoyable time! Thanks Lucille's!

I've been here a few times with a party of 2-3 total. I can't attest to large groups gone wrong. We have always had a great time! The bartenders and servers are friendly and fun. The drinks are strong. The entertainment is the main draw. Dueling pianos are a treat to see. They really know how to get the crowd to interact. These are true entertainers. Lucille's is a great place to take a couple of friends, especially out of town guests for a good time.

  • Anna W.

I'm really surprised at the low reviews on here! Granted, Lucille's is the only piano bar I've ever been to, but every time my friends and I come here we have a great time. I have always liked the fact that there is such a wide variety of ages that go to Lucille's. Last night my friend ordered a margarita (the special was $4 strawberry margaritas) and I was surprised that I could taste the tequila in it. I do agree that some of the songs are overplayed. Some of the great songs we heard were Blister in the Sun, With or Without You, and a medly of Soulja Boy, Baby Got Back, and Apple Bottom Jeans. We ended up spending about 3 hours there and, like always, had a great time.

What a wonderful place, My God what a wonderful place. I can't think of any cooler or more fun place i've been to in a long time! This place was great. I went here on St. Patty's day with a couple friends and the "ticket guy" or bouncer or whoever was wasted and that was a little off putting but this place is so clean even on St. Patty's Day! I probably would be a little deterred by the $5 cover that is supposed to be in effect here but like I said, the "bouncer" was trashed and there was no cover at the time! lol. You walk into a big room with two gorgeous pianos directly adjacent to one another. I didn't catch the names of the guys playing that night but they were a great duet! They played off each other well. Anyways, this massive room is set up in almost stadium-type seating with landings of inclination away from the piano stage making so that everyone can see and have a great time! It is winter and they had their patio closed but from what I could see from peering out the window was that it looked quite nice! Yes it can be a little bit of a grungy bar but if you are there with friends listening to some great music?! None of that matters! I think the drinks were pretty reasonably priced however some could have been a little cheaper. All-in-All, probably a place I would love to return to! Who knows what the second trip would be like!

happened to stumble into this bar on a whim with my boyfriend on a saturday night. Was skeptical as first because as a Chicagoan, I have been to the many piano bars in downtown Chicago. I have to say, Lucille's was a pleasant surprise. The piano players were very entertaining and they even had their own 'skits' and musical lyrics to common classic tunes. Overall a great and funny entertaining experience.

This place is just like any other dueling piano bar-- filled with bachelorette parties and women celebrating their 40th birthdays. But, considering it's the only dueling piano bar in the city, it's definitely a fun and "different" place to try once in a while.

    (3)
  • Mike W.

Just another piano bar. Worth going to once if you've never been to one, but a second time? No

    (2)
  • Kristi K.

As far as piano bars go, there are two kinds. There the "Redhead Piano Bar" set-up, where it's interactive, and fun and classy. But not snooty (if you're in the Madison area, there's a great little place there too called Vines on Mifflin street). Definitely places to check out. THEN you have your obnoxious places, such as Howl at the Moon, and this place. Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of fun at these piano bars, but they really are filled with bachelorettes and birthdays....not so much about the music. I live in Chicago, so whenever someone says "let go to HATM", I kinda cringe a little, but wind up having fun. This Lucille's place is a different story. Good: Cheap drinks. That's it. Oh...we got seats almost immediately. But that was pure luck and the fact that we're pushy. Bad: First of all...WHY are there paper napkins all over the floor? It's bad enough coming out of the bathroom with TP stuck to your shoe, but here you have to worry about it throughout the entire bar. The place was filthy. Also, it's not set-up the best. The pianos are pretty much just stuck in the middle of a big room. No character or design at all. It was like they weren't even going for ambiance...just cheap, and let the pianos take care of the rest. Bathroom attendant (which I despise anyway...I realize you're trying to make money, but I can get my own paper towels thanks) screamed at everyone who didn't take her paper towels, and used the wall dryer. Maybe if people used the wall dryer there would be less crap on the floor of this bar. Piano players themselves: talented enough. The one guy was a really impressive piano player, but I wasn't really that impressed with the others ( 4 rotated throughout the night). Also, I don't need every song made into a dirty song in a piano bar. I just don't. Sometimes, I just like to listen to the song. The filth is because (in large part, as mentioned) of the thousands of bachelorettes there. And numerous birthdays (which is why I was there anyway). I requested a song, and plunked down a $20 for the song so my friend and her sister could go on stage....everyone's dream, right? Well, they began to call my friends on stage, then they got interrupted by, of course, a bachelorette who needed to go on stage I guess. $20 lost. Great. Last, and certainly not least was the one skeezy piano player. My friend, whose birthday it was, has been there enough that he recognized her. She's cute. So...he came over to the bar and started hitting on her during his break. Not just flirting...he took her outside when we weren't looking for about 1/2 hour and we don't know what happened. She was so drunk she could barely stand up (they actually should have cut her off...not here I guess) so this was completely gross on his part. We later saw him macking on another cute blonde too young for his bald ass. Did I mention he was wearing a wedding ring? Gross. All in all, I will go to great lengths to never step inside this place again. Gross performers who fully grab T&A to give these girls a sticker on their "special nights" and filth all around. Drive to Madison or Chicago...there are better options in terms of piano bars.

I was in from out of town and some coworkers told me that I just had to check this place out. I went on a Thursday night, there was a really light crowd but it was a blast! What's not to love really -- two pianos playing songs that you want to hear. Yes, please.

The piano players here were pretty good. Had a bit of an attitude when they were asked to play song's they didn't like. The staff were not very friendly and kept moving us to different locations. Overall if you got here early enough to get a seat I think the experience would be good.

What's there to say? There's dueling pianos. Hopefully they're better if you go than when I did. The crowd was pretty tame as well. The bouncer did give me a high five for doing the splits off of a table...as well as the boot. Oh well.

Skip it.
