My experience here was excellent overall. I called in an order and went to pick it up so I didn't dine in. After searching a bit for the actual location I discovered in was inside the Asian produce market. The area that they share with a Vietnamese restaurant looks a little shady and uninviting so I'm glad I was taking out. Lady at the counter, who also was the one who took my order, was very nice and offered take home paper plates and plastic wear when I was picking up. Once home I found my order of volcano chicken and order of spring rolls packed neatly and in appropriate containers. Packaging is a big deal to me as nothing bugs me more about take out food then getting home and having half my order spilled all over the place. The food was top notch! The spring rolls are the fresh type, not the fried ones you would get from Bangkok House. The volcano chicken was perfect. Unlike most places that add only cabbage and carrots to the dish, Kims adds small broccoli and green beans! Everything tasted so fresh and no one flavor overpowered the other. All very complimentary of eachother. The combination of spices with the different textures from the veggies made this dish incredible. The flavor is unbeatable! Normally I would dock a star for the odd location and semi-creepy seating area but the food was just too good! 5 stars!

Kim's Thai to go has authentic Thai and if you want she can also make Laos food too! Is located next to a bahn mi place inside the Pacific grocery store. The lady that works there is very friendly and so is the cook that creates all the delicious food! There is about 4-5 long booths to seat and eat or you can order and I think she also delivers. When you first go in, you will see pictures of delicious eye drooling food on the wall. They also have a big pictures of each single food in the menu so you know what your exactly will be getting, which is think is a plus! I always order pud see eww and honestly all of her food is amazing. She makes the besttttt Thai iced tea everrrr! They also make pho, which I tried about 2 x and it was tasty too.

The flavors here are really spot on. This time I tried all new things: red curry with chicken and pineapple, basil fried rice and Thai eggrolls with pork. The red curry is delicious, creamy and rich. Just the right amount of bright orange fat floating on top, and lots of veggies: bamboo shoots, green beans, peppers, onions, cabbage, carrots. Ordered it medium and it was much tamer than the "hot" I got last time. If you're unsure, ask her for a little container of Thai ground chiles and you can adjust your heat level accordingly. I ended up with red curry+pinapple because I ordered the curry, and asked about the pineapple fried rice. She said, "oh I can just add pineapple to the curry, you'll like that." When in doubt, listen to her. The basil fried rice is simple but well done with lots of Thai holy basil. It's got larger pieces of veggies than Chinese restaurants' fried rice. The only miss so far has been the eggrolls. The filling was mostly cellophane noodles, and while that's not a terrible thing, there just wasn't enough filling. They were greasy as well. But no biggie, there's plenty of other mouthwatering stuff to order!

Pad Thai was sweet and delicious with the sauce not being so overwhelming. The stuffed chicken wings was very new to me but it was good especially with the sweet and sour sauce. The Thai tea beverage of course was awesome. Also very very friendly service there! Definitely my new little spot.

WOW....WOW.....WOW What more is there to say about this place. I'll start by saying Kim is the coolest, friendliest, and awesomest owner ever. She has just a great interaction with customers, you almost feel like a family member is cooking a meal for you. As far as the food......IT's AWESOME..... We ordered the Pad Thai vegetarian, green curry with tofu, and volcano tofu. Each order of Pad Thai was easily enough for two people and it was authentic, probably one of the best Pad Thai I have ever had. We asked for the green curry to be hot and it was spicy, but not the crazy spicy that has no flavor....it was a good burn. Again the quantity was HUGE. The volcano Tofu was a little dry, but I think that dish is best eaten at the restaurant or very shortly after.....To be fair, I did not get to enjoy the food until nearly 90min after it was prepared. The place is located on the LEFT side of a large asian grocery store and is somewhat of a challenge to find. Also takeout on a Friday night can take between 30-40min....this place is no secret. Kim said they are moving soon to an independent real restaurant, but I was not sure exactly when. Overall.....If you want good Thai....this place is the BOMB....

First time eating here. Been shopping many times in Pacific Produce but never stopped to eat here. Decided to stop here for lunch. I am reviewing this with an Asian palette so my opinions may differ from yours. The menu is posted on the wall to the left of the register and has your typical Thai dishes. They also have menus but they are incomplete menu books so I decided to go with the tried and true order of Yum Nua (Spicy Thai Beef Salad) and the Volcano chicken. You pay right away and have a seat at the limited tables or to go. Decided to get couple drinks at Pacific Produce while we waited and by the time I got back the Beef salad was out. Good rice portion and free water bottle. Now the food. I will be comparing this little restaurant with its big brothers Thai BBQ and King and I. Yum Nua is a salad consisting of beef and cucumber slices along with onions, green onions, cilantro and sauced with fish sauce, lime juice and crushed pepper. Thai BBQ and King and I do a great job of balancing flavors. However their version is very sweet. I would have preferred more lime and less sweet. Not only that but it seems to have a unique sweetness to it, meaning it's not just sugar that is sweetening the dish. It might be some sort of fruit purée that they use. Overall it was ok. I would rank this third to the other two restaurants. The volcano chicken dish was similar. It comes out in a hot skillet but for some reason our skillet was not sizzling. I will also compare this dish with the other two restaurants mentioned before. Volcano chicken consists of battered and fried chicken breast over a bed if cabbage and carrots topped with a tangy vinegar tomato based sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly and you get a good portion. The cabbage and carrots were a little overcooked but nothing to really complain about. The problem for me was the sauce. It was too sweet and not enough tang. Reminded me of General Tso's chicken. The other places when they bring the dish out your nostrils start burning from the vinegar. And the balance of flavors is better. So overall good chicken with average sauce. If you want great volcano chicken King and I has a better dish followed by Thai BBQ. Overall service was good and quick. Like I said not much seating so either go during off times or to go. It's a good place for quick Thai take out, not so much for a date. I would rate this little restaurant as average. A good place to try at least once

I made a curry last weekend that took six hours to prepare. I now appreciate how much work goes into making a paste from scratch. That being said, I ordered Kim's Chicken Curry and wasn't that impressed. The curry had a nice flavor, subtle heat allowing the nuances of the myriad of ingredients to be detected. The jasmine rice was cooked perfectly. My problem lies in that for $11.50 the dish consisted mainly of bamboo shoots. A few pieces of white chicken, a few yellow and red bell peppers, a couple sprigs of basil, some lemon grass and ginger but mostly bamboo shoots, lots and lots of bamboo shoots. Yukon Gold potatoes would be an improvement. Not impressed.

Things I Love About Kim's Thai- I absolutely love the food here. My wife and I very hesitantly walked past the almost as awesome Bahn Mi counter here in Pacific Produce to try Kim's and we were not disappointed. We didn't order anything super special, just a plate of stir-fried mixed vegetables and an order of crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon came right out of the fryer right to the table, and it was creamier than most crab Rangoon I've had. The mixed vegetables at some places are mostly bok choy and shallots; this stir fry had an equal amount of broccoli, baby corn and many other veggies. Easily the best veggie stir fry I've had. My wife and I only came in for a small, quick meal, so we shared everything. The woman at the counter was happy to bring us out separate dishes and silverware, making it easy for us to divvy up the food as it came out. Customer service is top notch. The portions here are big and well worth the dollars. It's good enough to have awesome food, but when you get so much you feel happy. We split the two orders and felt like we at a large meal. Not to mention the baby was eating her fair share as well! They gave out free samples of Thai Tea the day I came in. I always love free samples, but a sample as stupendous as their Thai Tea had me opening my tight wallet to buy some. Try the tea!!! Things I Don't Like At Kim's Thai- This is very much nitpicking, since Kim's Thai is about as awesome as it gets when it comes to Asian Food. These two restaurants should really keep a high chair off to the side for folks who want to sit down and eat. Don't let this scare you away, parents of youngsters. We were able to wheel a shopping cart next to the table for sort of a makeshift high chair, but that didn't stop me from feeling like I was taking up too much room. Stop reading this review. Go to Kim's Thai. Now!

This place is so good. I mean, I can totally look past the location and the questionably clean booths that they share with the vietnamese sandwich shop. The portions are generous and the price is totally fair. Like $9 for your standard noodle dishes, $11 or so for curry dishes. Not sure how healthy it is because I did see packages of MSG being sold in the grocery store but the flavor is spot on. Very comparable or even better than the flavors I've had on more highly Asian dense west coast. I wish this place was closer, though. I find that all the good places are far from me...maybe I should move. Food is more important to getting to class on time, right? Who needs school. Just kidding. Stay in school.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. There are TWO restaurants within Pacific Produce, not just the one where you get the sandwiches and sesame balls. Kim's has such a loaded menu that it's difficult to look through them all. Since I was in a hurry, I ordered what I knew: Pad Thai. Spicy. And they definitely do the spicy thing spicy! It was about $12 which I thought was a lot. That may have included a bottled water, too. (I asked for water and instead of a glass, they gave me a bottle). The Pad Thai was waaaay too sweet for me, personally. I've had it many places and they all do it differently. The extra sweet isn't my thing - but it was still good. Next time I want to try some of their curries and pho's/soups. Authentic good stuff.

The owners are helpful and friendly! The food is not Americanized and is very authentic, the stuffed chicken wings are crispy and tender and have kefir lime leaves in the stuffing with chicken- not pork. The Panang is great and not too heavy and the curried squash is better than EE San my other favorite. This gets 5 stars legitimately and I drive 1/2 hour for my thai pilgrimage twice a month! It is truly delish. The pad siew is great and they will customize any dish! I my only complaint is that they aren't on the North side if Milwaukee! Simply awesome!

I have to say, Kim's Thai is the one place I miss after 8 years of living all over the Midwest. I still can't believe I haven't had better Thai food even here in LA. Kim's Thai, dare I say, is the best Thai I've had period. Can't wait to visit Milwaukee again!

This authentic Thai food stall is hidden away inside the grocery store near the front entrance, between the bakery section and the fresh produce. Just past the Vietnamese banh mi shop, in the back. Talk to the friendly woman at the counter, and she will tell you everything on the menu is good-- she's not kidding! My favorite: Green curry with chicken. Eat this and you will realize that every other green curry you've had at the Thai restaurant around the corner is fake Americanized crap. You can order it to the spiciness you desire, 1-10. I'm a spicy girl, so I requested a 7 and the cook refused! She said-- "Trust me, 5 is very spicy." At first I was offended, I can take it, I told her. Again, she was not kidding. 5 was seriously spicy, and flavorfully, with tender chunks of chicken and lots of veggies. There was so much I had to take it home for lunch the next day (the heat mellows out by the way). If you don't want to eat in the cold grocery store in a tiny back room, take it to go, but whatever you do, get some!

Awesome hole-in-a-wall place located on 27th street inside the pacific Asian market grocery store. Kim is the owner and she provides wonderful service every time. You have the option to make your food as spicy as you want on a scale of 1-10, I like mine at a level 5 which makes sure that I can enjoy the food. They have absolutely amazing volcano chicken, prices are affordable ranging between $10-20, and the wait time for food is usually between 5-15 minutes. If you're feeling adventurous for some Thai food, this place is definitely recommended!!

Interesting place. My brother was scolded by the nice woman behind the counter for attempting to order Orange Chicken. "why you want that?" she said. "that for little kid. You big man, you order real food!" I instantly fell in love with her. Glad he went first, I resorted to my Thai stand-in, Volcano Chicken. It was great. True to its name, my entree was served on a sizzling hot iron skillet/plate. It tasted as great as it smelled. I said I wanted it spicy, but spicy for me, not spicy for her. It was spot on. My brother had the chicken in peanut sauce "not spicy." Big mistake. When in doubt, order Thai as intended, burn-your-ass hot. There are a few tables here, but the atmosphere is about as nice as a clean bus stop. You might be better off ordering your food and eating it in your car. I will be back to try more things from the menu, but I'll be sure not to ask for anything stupid.

I'm from Thailand and the food you get here is exactly, if not very close, to the food you get in Thailand. Their gem is not the typical American Thai dishes like volcano chicken, but rather the authentic Thai dishes that you could never get in other Thai restaurants in America. Their panang curry is exactly how it should be served in thailand, with less gravy than Indian curry. Their Tom Kha soup I'd an explosion of flavor. And my favorite: Thai-style bbq beef. Not sure what is called on the menu, but if you ask for it, she would know. Mention that it's from the northeastern region in thailand and they will immediately get it. Trust me, it's heaven in your mouth. The place is a hole in the wall, but who cares? I would come here everyday than go to a nice looking Thai restaurant that adds peanut butter to my curry!

This place has been my go-to when I have a crave for Thai food. I'm Thai and the food here is phenomenal ! I love their pad-ped Pla, pad hoi (stir fry clams), larb beef (order very spicy--trust me, it's so good). Their prices are very reasonable too.

Great little place! Always super friendly! The menu is enormous, and I've had the chance to try a variety of items, all of which have been excellent. Although there are some tables located there, it's mostly for carry-out, so be prepared. Don't stick with your routine. Try something different. It'll be worth it!

Excellent Basil fried rice with chicken. I ordered it a 10 in a 1-10 scale, and it actually was a 10. Despite being incredibly hot, it was terrifically flavored.

Awesome, fantastic, amazing Thai food. Super fresh ingredients, wonderful friendly service. Don't let the atmoshpere fool you, this is great food! They are located inside Pacific Produce, another hidden gem. I didn't have time on my first visit to do more than order food, but the grocery/asian market side definitely caught my attention for my next visit.

I love this place! I went before and got pud Thai and said medium cause I thought I could hang with that. Wooowwweeeee spicy but I kept eating it cause it was soo good and my mouth was one fire! Haha went again today with my boyfriend and that lil old lady is soo cute, funny and sweet! You gotta love her! I got it less spicy cause I said last time was a bit too much spice for me. She gave us spice on the side, my boyfriend has no issue with mouth burning heat. She gave us our food and pointed at the spice and said that go on here and pointed at our food and smiled. We smiled and laughed I added a little at a time a pinch goes a long way! We will be back, my boyfriend really loved talking to the lady there because she is soo friendly.
