This place is great. You've gotta try the mac and cheese pizza. They always have interesting and tasty combinations. Open late and very good quick customer service. Perfect way to soak up some of that beer in your stomach and just as delicious if you're sober!

Usually I love Ian's, so I ordered it for delivery tonight. I've called twice on my order and it hasn't shown up yet. Shame on you Ian's, I expected better. If you can't do delivery and have people eat in your store simultaneously then you need to pick one or the other. Waiting 2 hrs for a simple order is completely unacceptable.

While not as trendy (or big) as its neighbor to the north, they serve the same pizza with the same amount of choices. Sometimes the lunch slices have limited variety. Another college campus. Another Ian's nearby.

Vegan slice nights on Thursdays! Ok, so I am a big fan of the crazy pizzas Ian's makes, and love that they do vegan slice nights. BUT (of course there's a but....), every time we order from this location, they screw it up. 2 hours to deliver, wrong items, it's always something. Does that stop us? No, of course not. Vegan lasagna pizza to my door? yes please. I forgive all of your past sins! Slate clean. Still, they could stand to get their shiz together a little more, and then I'd be completely in love.

Best East coast pizza that my husband and I have found in the area. We went back 2 times in one day!!! The monthly eggplant parm pizza was delish.

I just love late nights at Ian's! If you want Extra cheese just ask. Want it to go just ask. Keep a tab rolling while you stuff your face and go back for more just ask. Pretty flexible, friendly service. Doesn't bother me, but be prepared for really, really stupid drunk people. I was young and cool once so hey, have a great night and I can always get the pizza to go. I enjoy the four cheese, Mac n cheese, anything with a noodle like the lasagna. You really can't go wrong people.

This pizza here is on point! ...went late on a rainy Thurs night after the bars closed....hear some ghetto-azz rap music blaring as i walk in the door...i think it was The Game "F***k Yo Feelings", but that's was part of the charm lol...wide variety of pizza by the slice options....thin crispy crust...real fresh ingredients....loved it...can hold its own with any East Coast pizza joint.

Descriptive phrase: nom nom pizza nom. I've said it before and I'll say it again: get whatever pizza has potatoes on it, smother it in ranch, be the happiest person ever.

Maybe it was the fact that I entered Ian's after a long night in downtown Milwaukee, and the Rogue's Gallery DJ had suggested it at closing as someplace the crowd could go, but I think the pizza was very good. Innovative pies, of which I sampled the mac and cheese, beef quesadilla, BBQ chicken, and some form of penne/sausage/cheese which looked too amazing to pass up. Very nice and efficient staff, working in assembly-line fashion to take care of the 30+ customers crowding in at 2AM and keeping everything moving. This is the only logical choice for post-drinking munchies in Milwaukee.

The worst service ever. Waited for almost an hour for a pizza, despite later orders being served before us.

Good place friendly staff pizza slightly pricy but always go here at bar close on water street #gooddrunkpizza lol

Ian's is the best pizza this North Carolinian has had. Super thin crust, and a host of topping themes to choose from. Brisket BBQ was fabulous. Staff is lively and helpful.

Super tasty drunk food! (Hey, its right by all the bars) I stopped in and got a slice of Papa & the Bandit which had cheese, sliced potatoes, bacon, ranch & BBQ sauce. A strange but yummy combination! My boyfriend got the Mac n Cheese pizza which immediately reminded me of CiCi's Pizza until I took a bite and realized it blew that place out of the water! They have pizzas already made that get sliced up and warmed up in their oven upon ordering. If they don't have what you want already made, they'll be happy to make it for you no problem. Specialty slices are $4 a piece and SO worth it!

Awesome, glad I drove here from other location. The north end one is being remodeled. This one is narrow and has funky seating!!! I wish they still had the old take out containers, I use them as postcards!!!

If I could, I would give this place zero stars. This place is a joke. My wife and I are in town this weekend for a show. To save time last night, my wife came up with the idea to just order in and get pizza delivered to our hotel. That way we can just relax, eat here the. Walk over to the show. We ordered the pizza at 5:42pm. We were told that it would be here within an hour. At 7pm I called to see what the deal was. The response was, "driver is leaving now. Sorry man". "Click". (He hung up). We now had an hour to get to the show. So we got ready and still no pizza, no call, nothing. It's now 7:30 and I call again and ask what the heck is going on. I was told the driver should be here soon. Finally 7:50 rolls around and we have to leave. Haven't eaten, we walk down to the lobby. As we are leaving (almost 8pm!!!) the pizza guy pulls up. We quickly stuff our faces in the lobby. The pizza is cold and nasty. What the heck?!?!? 2+ hours for a pizza!!!! No call, no apology.

It is what it is. Decent pizza with funky names and toppings at a cheap price. Rightfully served on paper plates. And they sell PUPPY CHOW! What's better than plate sized slices of pizza and puppy chow to end on a high note.

  • Bennett B.

They delivered to the wrong address, all the way across the city. This makes me think their online ordering service is hot stinking garbage. Luckily I know the people at my former address, so I still got the pizza, no thanks to Ian's Pizza.

Nothing makes me more sad than a soggy crust. Mush, mush, mush... gross.

If it were legal to marry a pizza store, I would marry Ian's. I've always loved Ian's and now that they are satisfying my vegan pizza needs, I've found a new appreciation for them. Saturday was a rough day. Work sucked and then I had to go to my part time job and I was tired and cranky and hungry. My coworker was walking down to Ian's to grab a slice and I asked if, by the smallest chance, they have vegan pizza in shop that day that he grab me a slice. He came back with the most delicious vegan chili pizza ever. Spicy, with just a touch of soy cheese, and a crispy crust it hit the spot. I've also tried their vegan lasagna, veggie, and mac and cheese pizza all which have been really freaking tasty. Ian's, I thank you. I thank you for your kind employees, your vegan friendliness, and your crazy toppings. Forget Snickers, when I'm hungry and cranky I will get some Ian's.

What is this line at 1 in the morning? Oh it's for MAC AND CHEESE PIZZA! There was literally a line out the door of people waiting to get a slice (or 3 in my case) of some delicious NY style late night pizza. This is located right near a line of bars, so of course they are busy and probably the most satisfying for the stumbling crowds. Drunk or sober this pizza is on point. They are cheap and quick. The menu shows a ton of different, unique pizzas but they are pumping out the ones they know are in the biggest demand, so unless you want to wait like 20 minutes for them to make you a pizza that isn't out yet, just go with what they have. I got 3 slices at $4 each. I went with a pepperoni, mac and cheese, and BBQ chicken. I would have to say the BBQ was my favorite. Each one was so good. Lot's of cheese, just the right amount of sauce, nothing overpowered the other. I really wish we had better pizza offerings in Oswego, because every time I try something like this, it just makes what's available in my town look more pathetic.

I mean honestly - if you haven't had Ian's mac & cheese pizza yet - I don't know what you're waiting for. Slices as big as your head & ready in minutes - delicious ANY time of day! Keep it coming Ian's, keep it coming!

  • Bret P.

Really good pizza at a decent price. Definitely got full after 2 slices. Nice location and good atmosphere. Music a little too loud and bass was rattling my table entire duration of meal. Give my recommendation!

  • Bryan M.

Dont see what the hype is about this place. . Breadsticks were well just bread and very bland and dry. The pizza was better than chain pie joints but not all that good. They are open late and deliver late so that's a plus. $30 for a soda, Breadsticks, small pie.

  • Margaret R.

Ian's is my favorite place for a slice in Milwaukee. They also do huge whole pies and deliver, but I go for a slice here regularly. So many fun flavors from Mac 'n Cheese to Penne Marinara to Smokey the Bandit (BBQ Chicken, Bacon & Ranch) - these few are my faves. They have specials each month and week to choose from too, the breadsticks are decent and I've yet to try their freshly prepared salads. I also love that they're open super late. Their pizza crust is crisp and tasty and all flavors nicely done. There's been a few that weren't for me, but I can tell that's my personal taste, not their wrong doing. The staff is super friendly and seem to enjoy working there. A nice bonus for the regular customers is a punch card to reward you with a free slice after purchasing 10.

I placed my order 2 hours before I didn't receive it. I am staying in the Pfister and the person on the phone was a little slow, but very nice and seemed to get my order correct. Then...yeah. I was laying around waiting for my order. I got up to use the restroom and came back to keep watching tv. I thought to check my cell phone because it seemed like I ordered food forever before (doesn't it always with delivery?) and realized that I missed a call from an unknown number 3 times. I called the number back and the kid I spoke with informed me that he had been to the hotel and left because I didn't answer. I asked him why he didn't come up to the room and he told me he couldn't because you need permission to get in the elevator. I asked him if he spoke to the concierge and he said 'yes'. He told me he'd be back in 10-15 minutes after he delivered his next order. In the mean time, I called downstairs and spoke with the concierge station who stated that delivery never spoke to them. 20-25 minutes later I finally called the store and asked to speak with a manager. I told him of the situation and he offered to take 1/2 off of my food. Um - after waiting for TWO HOURS? He was very nice and professional and maybe that's their policy, but I can tell you that if I owned a restaurant I would have offered to remake the food and send it out ASAP. Instead, I asked if I could cancel the order because I was pretty sure by the time it would get here, if it would get here, it'd be cold. He agreed, graciously, and I hope to see the refund on my card. Of course, 5 minutes later the delivery guy came up to my room. I explained to him that I had called to cancel the order (the store couldn't have contacted him?) and he left with major attitude. What a terrible experience. Maybe they're good for eat in? The best advice I can offer is that if you order from them, be prepared to wait longer than the quoted time and bring your phone with you wherever you go in case they need to call you for some reason.

The mac and cheese slice will make you slap yo mama its so good. Dont really be slappin yo mama or any other woman! Its the oddest things i've ever heard of .. but all you yelpers talk about it. And YOURE RIGHT! If my arteries clog up tonight.. I won't regret it.

I ordered a serious amount of pizza for delivery from this Ian's. Probably too much pizza in fact. But, in my defense it was really hard to decide if I needed a smoked brisket and tots or mac 'n cheese or spinach feta pesto pizza more. Plus I simply had to order a pepperoni pizza - I mean that's the basic pie to compare notes on how good of a pizza place this is, amirite? The delivery took about an hour, which was the quoted time and nothing unexpected. The pizza arrived hot and fairly fresh. And it was just as good as I could have hoped for. In fact it was good enough I may have eaten one or two pieces more than my stomach wanted to handle. With such a creative menu it's definitely hard to figure out what to get, but it's also a beautiful thing to have so many options. That way you can try, try again until you find the pizza of your dreams. Yep, I am indeed a fan.

I've eaten here so much I'm sick of it now... But it's a great pizza place. I recommend the Smokey and the Bandit pizza, which is- chicken, bacon, bbq sauce, cheese and ranch. Delicious!!

In town and found Ian's via Yelp. Big kudos for a Gluten-free pizza prepped right for my daughter with Celiac. We ordered 4 pizzas... And they were HUGE! Margarita was great, inch thick tomatoes and huge basil. Timely delivery in the quoted 45 minutes. Ian's exceeded expectations.

Ordered delivery. The delivery guy was really nice and complemented my choice pizza. This was my first time in Milwaukee and he made me feel very welcome. The pizza really was 5 stars. I ordered the Florentine and everything was baked perfectly. I'm glad I checked Yelp first before ordering. When I'm back in Milwaukee I will be ordering this pizza again.

Visit: 5/26/14 | 10.25PM We had the munchies of heard of Ian's Pizza by the Slice, which just so happened to be the only place open late-night from the hotel. If you want pizza with a million different variations, especially at late night, Ian's is your place to go. The crust was not too soft, but not too hard --it just right, and the portions were gi-normous (not surprising considering they offer 20" sizes in pizza; drinks are by the can - oh, and YES, it was delicious! Price-wise, it was pretty reasonable; $9.50 for 2 large slices and 2 cans soda. The only negative thing I have to say is the music playing for the restaurant; was a bit loud for my taste, and a little vulgar since I'm not into Rap; but if I could say to them: Just turn down the music late night as there are not many people eating in and it's hard to talk when the music is blaring. FINAL SAY: Would I go back? Yes.

I ordered a pizza for delivery while staying at the intercontinental hotel. And it was soooooo slow. Yeah, summerfest was happening, but I saw several other pizza places come and go...I should have ordered from those places!

Delicious vegan pizza options! I visited Milwaukee for five days and went to Ian's twice. The staff was super friendly and gave great recommendations. The first I tried was a vegan chorizo sweet potato pizza maxed out with veggies and daiya cheese. Need I say more? The second visit I had a penne pasta pizza with spinach and vegan mozzarella. I added pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. It tasted perfect. I've been dying for my pizza fix since taking on a complete vegan diet. Just a note- the vegan pizzas are made to order and aren't available as ready single slices EXCEPT for Thursdays. So be patient. It's worth it. Thank you Ian's!!!

Definitely on par with Pizza Man and Classic Slice as far as quality... I used to live in Madison and remembered many late nights on State Street getting a slice or two while bar hopping (back during my college daze). My recent experiences/interactions while ordering delivery or take out have gone above and beyond exceptional as far as friendly and accommodating service. Couldn't decide between a vegetarian and a vegan pizza (awesome!). I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with the guy taking my order and his words were, "We'd be happy to do half and half of two very different specialty pizzas and then you could know for next time if you like the vegan cheese". Most places are willing to substitute one or two items but these guys are here to make you happy. Pizza Man was difficult with me the last time I ordered (only one substitution) and I have encountered bitchy service with Classic Slice (men included). Nonetheless, as I mentioned, all three are very good quality. I'm excited to try the Ratatouille and the Tri-Vegan soon! Stomach is growling...

If you're an out-of-downer or just a local who is living in a bubble, you have to add Ian's Pizza to your "must-eat" list. Anything you could imagine on pizza, Ian's probably makes it. Favorites: Mac & Cheese Buffalo Chicken Cheesy Potato Four Cheese Lasagna Do it. Ian's offers a "punch card" so make sure you pick one up to earn free slices!

I went into this summer with one goal - receiving my free slice of pizza. After every 10th, get your 11th free! I didn't know what to expect before coming here. I originally thought it was just a regular pizza joint, but I was totally wrong. Ian's has so much more than just your regular pepperoni or cheese. Pizza by the slice - you got it. Each time, I've gone I've been able to get a non-traditional slice of pizza that I normally wouldn't get anywhere else. Potato, cheese, and a cream sauce was pretty delicious. Don't be skeptical of the Macaroni and Cheese; it'll rock your socks off. I definitely love the environment. This Ian's smaller than the one on the East Side, but has the same character. It's music selection is also more up my alley (coincidentally, this Ian's is located near an alley) - if you like old-school rap, you'll feel at home. Staff is friendly and totally willing to talk it up with you while you make your decision. Their recommendations also never fail.

This place was very cool. They have many different varieties of pizza. I shared a slice of one that had potatos, bacon, bbq sauce, and sausage. Everyone was so friendly. I also liked their humanitarian superhero atmosphere. If you're ever in Milwaukee I recommend swinging by. Prices are reasonable for the craft you get.

After being turned away by the crowd at AJ Bombers on a recent Friday night, I remembered that Ian's had recently opened a location in the area, so around the corner we went. We were immediately greeted upon entering. There was a group of six or seven people working well together in the small space behind the counter, all hustling and bustling with various tasks. Nice to see this sort of thing rather than the boredom and apathy some employees can exude. Perusing the pies behind the glass (a young man helped I.D. the pies for me), I decided on the BBQ ranch chicken with bacon. The slice was savory and had a lot of sauciness between the ranch and BBQ, and the crust was nicely crisped on the bottom. I also noticed that Ian's offers a build your own salad option. There are a few tables on the main floor and more seating available upstairs. If you are in the area in search of lunch or need a bite while whooping it up on Water Street, give Ian's a try.

I used to live across the street from the one in Chi on Clark, I was quite upset when it vanished... Then I stumbled upon Ian's brought back to life in Wisco!! First I thought I had too many 7% beers on the brewery tour, but there it was! I loaded up with 3 slices for 11 bucks and headed back across the border with my goodies. 1 mac&cheese cheese, 1 BBQ chick w/ bacon & 1 spicy chic taco slice (see my pic).

    (5)
  • Chad C.

I find many of their slices dry, so I'm not a regular here. I like Classic Slice much better... but Ian's is much faster. If you're boozin and need carbs fast, this is your place. I find the Mac'n'cheese slice dry... so the BBQ Chicken is more my speed.

  • Howie P.

Ian's is great. It can hang with most pizzerias in New York. Simply delicious pizza. I had a spicy chicken taco slice, which is not something I can get in most places back home. I did not have high hopes for this, but I was drunk from dollar pints at Duke's. God bless that place. The bizarre combination on pizza called to me and I was quickly proven wrong. Although it had taco elements, it still tasted like outstanding pizza. The only problem here is that slice cost me $3.75. Ian, are you high? You're in Milwaukee, not Manhattan. That slice can't cost more than $2.50. If one of your slices costs 25 cents less than 4 beers at the bar next door, you really need to re-evaluate your pricing.

After skating at Red Arrow, my two kids and I stopped in to Ian's. When my kids were struggling to make a decision over what kind of pizza to get, one of the staffers offered up a sample. Whoa! Awesome! In my daughter's words "this is the best pizza EVER!" She and her brother ate their famous mac and cheese pizza, while I had the spicy chicken taco. Both were amazing. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience at Ian's. We will be back!

Excellent pizza AND customer service! I was totally impressed and will definitely come back if I'm in the Milwaukee area. BTW Macaroni & Cheese pizza is killer!

Pizza is always fantastic here no matter what you get. Staff is as friendly as ever and actually look like they enjoy their jobs very much making it a fun atmosphere. Great customer service 5 stars!!! Pizza seemed to take a little longer than normal. They tossed in 2 free slices and couple free breadsticks just because they were a little slow because of how busy it was. We didnt even complain or ask they just did it because they have THE BEST customer service. I suggest this place to anyone wanting pizza over any other joint!

This place is fantastic! Loads of different pizza options, super-fresh salads (including several home-grown or local-grown ingredients), great dressings. And the service is outstanding. Thomas was super-patient while my group hemmed and hawed over all the great food options. Great great great!

The last time I had Ian's pizza I had a little too much to drink and it was the joint on State St in Madison. I decided since I couldn't recall if it was good or bad I'd give this Milwaukee location a shot. Luckily I was stone cold sober and got to experience one heck of a great pizza. I ordered online which was painless and had it delivered to my hotel room. It arrived a little later than expected and I was worried it would be cold. When it was getting late I feared I did something wrong with online ordering so I phoned Ian's. The guy who answered was great and explained about summerfest traffic slowing his driver down. A short time later the pizza arrived! Hot and delicious. I had a simple sausage and mushroom. I wanted to play it safe! It was anything but ordinary and absolutely delicious! I woke up thinking about how great it was and texted my buddy telling him I wanted to try the state st location again when I got home. It was worth the wait of my pleasant delivery guy! Give this place a try. I loved it.

Until very recently I lived near the North Avenue location and was a frequent visitor and fan. I had tickets to a show at the Riverside and needed a quick meal. Ever noticed how there aren't so many options for that Downtown for dinner time? There's places only open for lunch and the food trucks show up for the bar crowd, but in-between it's a bit of a wasteland. So that's where this Ian's steps into a void for me. I know it's good product and I can get a quick meal. Of course parking is an issue - it's downtown. When I went in they didn't have the slice I wanted ready, but were able to suggest a close alternative and provide me with some condiments to make it better. I also asked for breadsticks, which weren't ready at that time. To apologize for not having either of my requests, they gave me a free dessert. That's good customer service. They can't always have everything available, but noting that they somewhat let someone down and moving to make amends goes a long way.

Great for College! I have never loved having pizza, that not the standard pizza....and I love me some regular cheese pizza! They have that if you want it but I would suggest trying any of the layer out specialized Ian pizzas! Make sure to get the bread sticks...get 3 u get free sauce with it!

  • Michelle A.

Meh is all I can say. I was expecting a lot tastier pizza based on all the rave reviews here. Service was slow , I ordered on the internet, it told me to head over and when I got there they said it would be another 20 minutes!? The size of the slices is huge but taste wise they are pretty bland. I think I will stick with classic slice in bay view, their pizza is yummy!!

    (2)
  • Grant C.

We actually found the traditional pizzas to be notably tastier than the creative pizzas, however we did appreciate finding a place in town that could offer both styles, along with excellent service. It was strange going upstairs to see tables with no sound system or windows you could see out of, though. Best to stay downstairs where all the action is.

Ordered in to our hotel saturday night. The pizza was great ( though i am a fan of thicker crusts and would have preferred a thicker pizza). The quality of ingredients seemed very good and price wasnt bad at all. I only wish i would have had a refrigerator in my room. The leftovers smelled great the next morning.

Ian's is my pizza of choice in Milwaukee, so it's nice to have a downtown location rather than chasing over to the East Side (well, nice for my appetite, maybe not-so-nice for my bank account and waistline...). The location is great -- close to Water Street but not directly on it, so the traffic hasn't been too hectic from what I've seen. The staff has consistently been super friendly, so two thumbs up there. The only slightly odd experience has been with delivery -- took about 75 minutes on a Thursday night and came unsliced (is that normal? I'd never really had their delivery), but not a huge issue. Overall, I anticipate entirely too many return trips to this Ian's location and have been happy with it so far!

  • Brian E.

Well let's just put it out there. It's not the greatest pizza in the world. Ian's opened a new location right next to Art's PC or across from Trinity on Juneau. Parking is limited to street which can be hit or miss. If you never have been to Ian's before here is what to expect. Basically there are a lot of uncommon pizza options to choose from which are typically a far cry from traditional. When you read the menu you may think some of these are entrees. The menu itself doesn't do a good job at being descriptive for the monthly featured pizzas. Simply listing "BBFAT" or "Salad Pizza" doesn't help. It's odd because on the other side of the menu options like "smokey the bandit" and "Macadilla Killa" have the build broken down in the parenthesis. You will find the prices here are cheaper than at Brick 3 which is what I would somewhat compare this pizza to. I think the size of the slice may be a touch smaller though. I had two different variations. A burger and fries slice and the Smokey and the bandit slice. Both had a bit too much BBQ sauce which overpowered the other toppings. When I was young I used to love taking tombstone pizzas out of the freezer and then adding leftover food to them to jazz them up so to speak. It was a good use of leftovers and could transform an otherwise boring pizza into something more interesting. The same concept applies here but to a somewhat better crust. If you have ever read other reviews for other locations you'll notice that this appeals to the after bar crowd or for the hungover guy who seemingly doesn't care. If you are looking for a definitive pizza option this isn't remotely it by my opinion. I am sure I will get people that disagree but hey.... food is subjective. Though in this case I would argue how this city has many more pizza joints that are better in comparison. If i was going to compare it to it's similar competition I would chose Brick 3 over Ian's. Then again I am spoiled by other joints that don't have pizza sitting out behind a glass counter for who knows how long. In my personal opinion MKE's best option is Classic Slice. I wouldn't rank Ian's as worst though..... it's just that there are a lot of better options out there.

My wife and I had read an online piece about Ian's Mac and Cheese pizza, so we decided on a whim to drive from Chicago to try their different offerings. When we arrived, most of the non-regular types of pizza were fresh from the oven. We tried the mac and cheese, the chicken parmesan, the bean burrito, the steak and fries, and the tomatoes basil with feta cheese. Everything. tasted. delicious. We even ordered a 20" Mac and Cheese pizza to take back home for family in Chicago. But let's not forget the service! The service was *fantastic*. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Was it worth the 180 mile roundtrip drive? Absolutely. I can't wait for my next dinner at Ian's Pizza.

This is my family's favorite pizza by the slice restaurant. I first made this a regular stop when I visited Madison, now that there are two in Milwaukee we are ecstatic!! This is the closest thing you can get to NY style pizza anywhere! And I love trying a new slice every time, and I have never been disappointed. But one thing we always have to share is a slice of the Mac and Cheese.

Ian's. I cant. I just can't resist. It might be a problem but I am NOT complaining. I could (and maybe have but I will neither confirm nor deny) eat Ian's several days in a row, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Smokey and the Bandit (BBQ chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and ranch) is my jam. I always go into a state of depression and confusion if they are out, but I have never been disappointed with a backup choice. Lots of cool flavor choices, even if I have a favorite slice I tend to stick to. Second favorite pizza joint in Milwaukee hands down.
