My spicy chicken dish was very bland. It consisted of all canned or frozen vegetables and was not spicy at all. I asked our hostess for some additional peppers or even some hot sauce but she wanted to charge me 50 cents for a packet of hot pepper flakes. She also laughed at me. I know that's not a lot of money but it really showed me the integrity of the establishment. Another Yelp review pointed out that their menu was probably reminiscent of a 1984 American Chinese resteraunt. I agree. The place was tidy and I did feel somewhat welcomed. Blah. Never again.

I never leave reviews, but I feel compelled to warn people- Ho Ho's is super gross y'all. I just got to go food of sesame chicken, crab rangoon, and egg rolls. The sesame chicken was oblong, overly processed, greasy crap in that beer batter type breading. That was a strange choice for sesame chicken, and it got grosser because the sauce was a broth-thin, soupy mess with a few sesame seeds and a bunch of slimy green peppers. Wtf. The crab rangoon was super greasy. Like, dripping with oil. My stomach hurts. I threw it all away, so I guess I should have just lit a twenty dollar bill on fire. Yuck.

I got the sweet and sour chicken. I played it safe and was somewhat disappointed. Didn't think you could get that sauce wrong but hey, now I know. If you want something affordable and quick, here ya go.

We live super close, and would rather wait 40 minutes for delivery from another place than from here. Super gross.

We have been coming here for years. It's never really busy, but the food is delicious, flavorful and very reasonably priced. We've tried the chop suey, egg fu young, egg rolls, spicy beef and others, never disappointed or bland. The fried rice is great here too.

This place looks like a dive...just like I like 'em. When you walk in it looks like you're entering another world. The carpet is dark red and plushy. There is an absence of odor that seems like it would be lingering in the air. They have booths and some tables. When we went there were only a few tables occupied. We tried several things on the menu: chicken hong shu and my husband had almond chicken (like he's used to in Detroit). The prices were cheap. The service was great. I've heard the egg foo young is fabulous so I plan to try it next time.

Ho ho ho's is a NO NO NO!!! I must be a dummy, I should have left when the 'hostess' didn't notice or believe we were coming into the restaurant to eat; Or we should have left when there were no car parked in the restaurant. I was craving dirty Chinese food and that's what I got:bland, freezer tasting garbage. Why is it so hard to get old school Chinese food in Milwaukee? Does anyone here not care? Apparently. The decor was not kitschy or cute, it's just plain dirty and disgusting. Why I stayed: for the food poisoning so I could clear my system out. Don't go unless your looking for an uneventful, flat, depressing time.

Another South-side time capsule. If you want to see what "Authentic Chinese Food" was in about 1972, Ho Ho's is where you need to go. I would refer to the restaurant as a dump, not a dive. Maybe it was the 14 watts of light, but from what I could tell at least the carpet was clean. I don't mean to infer that this place is dirty, it is not. It is dank though. The interior is 1970's rec-room fabulous. Wood paneling, black Naugahyde, no natural lighting. The only thing missing is Barry Manilow. Now on to the food.. I've only been here for lunch, so I can't speak to the dinner menu, which other reviewers seem to love. There is no buffet here. The menu consists of about 6 or so different lunch combos of all your grandparent's favorites. Really nothing special about any of it. The people who own it may be Chinese, but I don't think they have ever been to any other Chinese restaurants in this country to see what other people have been doing since about 1985. The food is just OK. On the redeeming side, prices are super cheap, and service has always been very friendly. I would like to give 2.5 stars, but it's just not good enough to round up to three.

I loved their food. The hong sue chicken was exactly what I was hoping for. I thought they were very nice and its very cute in there, it has a certain charm to me. I will be returning.

I have been going to Ho Ho's since the 70's. I always had Chicken Hong Sue. It. was always good. The last time I went was in January. Naturally I ordered my regular CHICKEN Hong Sue. Boy was I shocked ...the breading on the chicken was burnt. I told the waitress and she went and got Benny the owner. He began to argue with me that the breading on the chicken was always dark. I said I've been coming here for many years and it was never so dark and burnt. He said he is the cook and it's always that dark which is a lie because he is usually behind the bar and a woman is in the kitchen. He continued to treat me very rudely. He did take the plate back and brought another Chicken Hong Sue out but the rice was cold by then and he didn't bother to bring another hot dish of rice. I should have got up and left but I was so hungry that I ate the food. He then had the audacity to return back after I finished eating and start arguing again with me! I told him he was so rude for treating a customer like that and I would never eat here again.

This restaurant is definitely just OK in my book. Not the most amazing Chinese I've ever had, but it's solid and never of poor quality. I really like their veggie fried rice, egg fu yung and shrimp hong su. The decor is rather comical to me. It reminds me of a 1960's Chinese place complete with full leather bar and kitschy decorations. I've heard from some people that they haven't enjoyed their meals there, but I've never had a bad experience so I can't offer negative criticism here.

Terrible.... I ordered take out, and when arriving to the location i almost walked right back out the door. When i called, the women on the phone seemed legit so i thought we struck gold. Ordered 4 items for the menu, 2 of which had hot or spicy in the name, they turned out to be the most mild flavorless chinese food items ive ever put in my mouth. I also added broccoli to one of the meals and they charged 1.50, come on its broccoli for gods sake!! Never again, pricey and terrible experience.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
