My 3rd Fish Fry for Lent 2014 took me to Coach's Pub & Grill in Milwaukee. It has a small private lot but plenty and available street parking on 13th street. In the outside rear area they have 2 volleyball courts and a place that looks like it is for bags. When you enter the bar the main and only bar is right at the entrance. Plenty of TVs to watch sports (perfect for March Madness) It looks like it seats about 20 around the bar and 4 and 4 more on 2 table tops of 2 along the side. In the main dinning area, there were about maybe 8 tables that were 4 tops. They also have a semi indoor heated deck area that had 7 tables - mostly 4 tops. The hostess station is to the right of the entrance and if we didn't go early (before 6 pm); we would probably have to wait about 15 to 20 minutes. We waited about 5 and were seated in the heated deck area. It was plenty warm they had the heat on...on to the fish. They had nice options for Fish Fry with reasonable prices - cod, tilapia, walleye, perch, blue gill, shrimp; sides: mashed potatoes (gravy optional), potato pancakes, regular fries, waffle fries, homemade chips, onion strings, onion rings; choice of soup: regular claim chowder or spicy cajun clam chowder or salad with your normal choices of dressing. Dinners start at $9.95 for the cod dinner (extra piece is $1.25 each) to the Fisherman's Platter for $14.50. You also have the choice to have buckets...yes I said buckets of fish to go: 8, 12, and 16 pieces of cod from $16.95 to $24.95 with choice of potato and rye bread. My wife had the cod dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy and clam chowder. I had the Fisherman's Platter (perch, blue gill, cod, & shrimp) with waffle fries and clam chowder. The chowder was a nice consistency packed with clams, potatoes, etc. We were off to a good start. The fish was probably the best we have had so far - even beating the catfish I had in Nashville. The fish were lightly breaded so that you could enjoy the actual taste of each fish. The blue gill maybe too fish for some. The waffle fries were a nice touch but the mashed potatoes looked good too. Our waitress - Jess - was very attentive, friendly, and very customer service focused. What I could tell the rest of the wait staff was the same. It is refreshing after the end of the work week to find good fish and good service. I'll be back and not just on a Friday!

The new beer batter cod is fantastic. Love it. See my other reviews. Always a great place to watch any NFL game, but packer games are special.

Best pub grub in Milwaukee! Rueben? Awesome. Wings? Phenomenal. Broasted chicken? Best I've ever had. Big boy burger? Exactly like the original. Seriously come here and eat any of these things and I promise you'll leave happy, full and with money to spare. Oh yea fish fry is pretty good too!

Some of the best wings I've ate in milwaukee hands down. Perfectly cooked juicy not dry shriveled up chicken jerky like some places everyone needs to try these wings

My husband and I had time to kill between our hotel checkout and our flight back home. It wasn't enough to go into the city so we decided to look for a place near the airport to grab some lunch and hang out. I'm so glad we settled on Coach's. This is a great place and if I lived in the area, I would be a regular. We ordered the fried cheese curds to start and I got the reuben while my husband had the chicken waffle sandwich. Everything we ordered was delicious. I loved that the 1000 Island Dressing for the reuben was on the side. Even better, the reuben had some of the most delicious corned beef I've ever eaten. I don't know if they make it in-house or get from a local deli/butcher that does but it was melt in your mouth perfect. I would order this sandwich again in a heartbeat. I can't say much about the chicken waffle sandwich since I only had a bite but my husband seemed really pleased with it. The maple mayo that came with it gave it that extra something and I liked what I tried. I don't get to WI very often anymore but this would definitely be a place I'd come back to.

Local bar with a local crowd and following. Great wings, some of the best I've ever had in terms of quality. Bartender is friendly, patrons also good people, and the bar itself is exactly what you'd expect in a bar and grill. Great value too.

Coach's is just great little corner pub and grill. We end up there occasionally on Saturday afternoons for lunch and beers. Karen, the bartender, is great- greeting everyone by name if you've been in there a couple times. I usually can't stop myself from ordering the Reuben, I'm originally a Cleveland girl and damn if we don't love our corned beef. In general I've been disappointed by most corned beef in Milwaukee, but they do it well at Coach's. Again, as a native Clevelander I always hold the Thousand Island and add yellow mustard and sour cream. That is the classic way that it was served at the Silver Grille in Clevelandtown and I've always found it superior. Their waffle fries are what you'd expect but they also do make a great homemade potato chip. Wings seem to another big seller when we are in there, their chicken sandwich is also a winner. We've ordered their fried veggie basket later at night when grease and fried food tastes the best. Gotta love some good fried mushrooms and other deliciousness.

Good for what it is, corner pub. Full of regulars but everyone is nice. Nothing fancy. Owner is awesome. Huge new LCD TV.. probably 80". Packers games is where this place shines. Free buffet at halftime! Raffle for prizes at the end of the game. Fun atmosphere.

Fried perch was some of the best I've had in a long time. Generous portions too!

Their Cajun chowder is yummy. Fish is better then some in the area but still nothing super special. Small restaurant/bar area so sitting outside is a little nicer and quieter. The staff is usually on top of getting your drinks and orders quickly except last time we went our server forgot to bring out our soup. She did discount it from the bill, which was nice. Have been a few times because out of town family enjoy it. Nice "small town" bar atmosphere.

Yes, 5 of them. For a bar fish fry, sitting on a patio encased in plastic wrap, this place was phenomenal. That crazy patio with plastic lawn furniture was super cozy and not a bit drafty, believe it or not. They have indoor seating as well but the place was packed to the hilt with fish fry revelers. The service: I think Linda, our server, had some bizarre mind reading thing going on. Not only did she repeatedly appear from nowhere, she brought us things without having to be asked. Now to the fish fry.... Deeelicious! Hot, fresh, not greasy, just kissed with batter and plentiful. The salad was a romaine mix and was equally fresh. They have a special cocktail menu including an old fashioned for $3.50 ! Oh, I almost forgot the potato pancakes: Fluffy and flavorful. Coach's belongs in a fish fry hall of fame.

I found Coach's online as I always look for holes in the wall when I travel. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was in the mood for some college football and bar food, so what better place than a neighborhood bar! The wings were great, nice selection of beer on tap, including a couple of craft brews. Karen the bartender was as kind as could be, introducing me to the owner who was enjoying a couple of cocktails with the customers. By the end of the night, I felt like a friend to everyone; great place! One thing - if you are in the mood for a quiet establishment, this isn't it, which is what I loved about it. F bombs were dropped, people were yelling across the bar, etc. It was great!

Had 2 pitchers of beer and a dozen wings. Probably the best wings I've ever had comparing to others in Ohio. The waitress was the nicest lady to ever grace me with beer. Great people and amazing GB fans. Definitely my top bar to go too.

I go on a regular basis... they have daily food specials and a good variety on their menu. I definitely recommend the soup of the day regardless of what it is.... from bean soup to chicken dumpling can't go wrong. The prime burger is excellent, chicken dinner has very generous portions, wings are great, huge fish sandwich, and good thin crust pizza. You really can't go wrong. Sit inside , outside or at the bar.

Finally a decent fish fry on our 2015 Lenten fish fry tour! It had been years since I had their fish fry and my hopes were riding high and then BAM!....they nailed almost a perfect fish fry. For $10 you get 3 pieces of cod, soup or salad and your choice of side. Having been disappointed lately with fish fries, I didn't risk the potato pancakes. When others got their delicious potato pancakes I was filled with regret looking at my boring french fries. Again, having been burned a few times with limp, iceberg salads I opted for the clam chowder, The chowder was pretty good, but the salads were nice and crisp with romaine lettuce. Do I regret my choices? Life is full of regrets so that is why I can always come back and try the potato pancakes which were homemade deliciousness. The cod was lightly breaded and cooked light and flaky with lots of flavor in the breading. Rye bread was run of the mill as well as the coleslaw. Now let's talk about that supper club bread basket......a basket of gluten goodness with bread sticks, saltines, and butter. Service was spot on with our lovely server Linda who we honestly thought was just serving our table because she was so attentive. Linda was serving other tables but just had a knack to know when to check back on us. A couple of tips....call ahead during Lent for a reservation...sit on the patio if it is busy because it is heated (granted the chairs are plastic lawn chairs)....branch out and try their other fish fry options like perch, bluegill, walleye, shrimp....take out a bucket of fish if you don't have time to stay for dinner.

First time here. Had the perch dinner and my husband had the cod, it was good but we were expecting spectacular based on the reviews and the fact it was on the top ten fish fry places in Milwaukee. Service was excellent though. Stolley's Hog Alley has a far better fish fry but you can wait an hour or so for a table but next time we will wait.

Coaches will satisfy any craving you may ever have. Waffle fries, the WINGS, all the fixings.... The staff will remember you by name and welcome you like family. Everything about this place screams "Milwaukee".

Absolutely love this place. It's where everyone knows your name. Full of welcoming regulars. It's your typical corner bar where the bartender stills buys you one when it's your drink that empties the bottle. We been here several times for food as well as for Packer games. The food is amazing. The owners sister runs the kitchen and almost everything is made from scratch. The wings, which are on special on Mondays and Saturdays are amazing! You can get sauces on the side if you can't decide what flavor you want or you can stick with the plain broasted wings. Yummy!!!! The Friday fish fry is very popular as well. In the fall the eggplant is a must. Lightly breaded and done just right. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! On Sunday's, the special is a Big Boy burger and fries for $5. Gets a little crowded for Packer games but get there early and you'll have a great time!! There are always some sort of raffles and give aways. Try the Bloody Mary bar where there's a wide variety of homemade pickled veges. Cauliflower, asparagus, mushrooms. At halftime they always have a great spread. Enchiladas, subs, spaghetti, etc. This bar definitely knows how to treat its customers!

Ok we hit Coach's for a Friday Fish Fry, first time. O my God, Fantastic about sums it up. I asked how big the Walleye was and that was one of 2 disappointing things about dinner. The waitress a little slow coming back to the table, ran out of drinks a few times, said the Walleye was about half as long, the other was the cod. I don't know just not the best flavor. No let's get to the Blue Gil, Shrimp, Perch, WOW, GET IT, GET IT ,GET IT, can't say any more. The fish was FANTASTIC, INCREDIBLE, UNBELIEVABLE! O sorry forgot the Cajun Chowder, it belongs in the FANTASTIC group. What took us so long? Live 1 mile away Coach's you are doing it right!
