I'm not one to write a review for a place that I haven't been to in a long time, but since I never plan on going back to Beer Belly's, here goes. The food was ok; edible, but nothing to write home about. Perhaps it's really just the bar atmosphere that keeps this place packed, I don't know, I'm not a beer drinker. Seeing as it was the middle of the afternoon when I visited, I wasn't going to have a cocktail, either. I opted for a coke. Now, if you know me, you know that I could keep a business open just by the amount of coca-cola I order. So, when I first took a sip of my drink, I knew something wasn't right. I asked our server if she had given me diet coke by mistake and she said no. I told her that the coke tasted funny. Her response? "Everyone says that." Matter-of-fact, no remorse, no embarrassment. Now, either the workers have never told management about the customer complaints, or management doesn't care. It doesn't take much to clean the soda lines, so there is no excuse. My first visit was my last. 38/2015/132

First time here in, like, 20 year's. I had the Clam Strip Dinner and a $5.00 Margarita. The Clams were hot and crispy and reminded me of Family Dinners at Howard Johnson's years ago. The dinner came with really good Potato Pancakes and Marble Rye Bread. The Margarita was surprisingly good for the price. Service was quick and efficient and they are Wheelchair Accessible. I will definitely be back in less than 20 year's!

Second time is the charm, well kind of. Exact same as last time, though this time bellied up to the bar. The local spotted cow is a great choice and the burgers are more than needed. Mine was the Blue Burger and was not disappointed. Barely touched the fries and not for disgust but for the size of the burger. They know how to turn the place and are very quick and efficient. Ps. The check-in coupon is only good for the high school beers.

The reviews are mixed. So, let me set the stage. I came for an early lunch at 11:15. There was one other table at the beginning and the staff was doing some housekeeping. Service was prompt and with a smile. I ordered the Belly Burger as I am in pursuit of the world's best burger. The burger was prepared as ordered at medium-rare. The seasoning was good, and the produce crisp. The burger is huge; I actually strained to open wide enough for the first bite. On my 10 point scale, this burger gets an 8. it is well worth another visit. Now, the rest. This is a bar. I imagine if you come during a game, or after work when it's busy, your experience is going to be different. Also, don't bother with the ranch fries, they were just powdered ranch shaken on the fries. Enjoy!

I've been here a few times now and have been overall happy with both the quality of food and the service. They have a decent fish fry, I would recommend the pan fried Bly gill. Anyway, tonight I came in well after normal dinner hours to get a fish fry. Having a very long day at work I found a seat at the bar away from everyone... just wanted dinner and a beer and to check my work email and news. A small group came in and sat next to me and were talking which was obviously normal which I zoned out and continued with my smartphone activity.... my food arrived and I started to eat. At this point one of the women asked the guy next to me to move over, then proceeded to stand behind me timidly mumbling something... at which I turned to her and just told her to say what she wanted to say..., I was obviously in a bad mood which caused the whole group to start talking. I literally moved over to the other seat, told them to quit talking to me and continued to eat. Of course the comments on how rude I was started.... I didn't say a word after... but wasn't it rude to ask someone actually eating their dinner to move? Regardless, the waitress/bartender did nothing to step in and control the situation, my meal basically was ruined. So I got my bill, paid, and left. (Thought it was a bit too high but didn't want to add fuel to the fire. Not sure I will go back. I had the Perch this time which was good but the side of red beans and rice were subpar.

Beer Bellys is a good place to stop at if you are heading or staying near the airport. I was the latter and was recommended here by the hotel I was staying at. Glad I took their recommendation. At first glance the menu looks to be of normal bar fare but if you look close it's quite varied. It was also mexican night but did not see anyone order anything off that menu. I went with the Prime Rib Panini - a hot steak sandwich loaded with mushrooms, onions, provolone, and marinara sauce which helped elevate the sandwich from good to something I would recommend. Paired with my panini was fries which were solid. And to wash things down, I grabbed two local beers. The bartender was on point knowing the differences between beers and service was quick.

I do love a south side bar with great bar food and unfortunately I was let down...*sighs*. I have tried this place multiple times with the same outcome which is my problem. The saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is completely applicable. I tried the chicken parmigiana sandwich which was fair but not anything to write home about. I "upgraded" to the ranch fries and sprinkling ranch powder on fries is nothing earth shattering in fact it was WAY TOO MUCH ranch. One person had the burger and they were satisfied...yeah for the decent burger! Now let's talk about the prime rib sandwich and Italian beef sandwich...first was $12.99 and the latter $9.99...tick tock...tick tock...game clock...which one was better? Ding ding ding.....the answer is the $9.99 Italian beef which honestly tasted much better than the more expensive prime rib. If you have the ValuPak coupon for 20% (which we did) then definitely use it. I just wish the food would have been better but on the bright side the beer was fresh and tasty!

Not the most appealing name for a restaurant -- no six packs here. It's cold as hell this evening in Milwaukee, and this place was in walking distance from my hotel. The place is mostly bar which lends well to its namesake. But there's food. I had myself the pictured Prime rib french dip sandwich, and had pretty much every grilled vegetable that the waitress offered. A fantastic french dip, I highly recommend. Anyway, it's cold as hell as I said, so, back to the hotel for me.

Slow service, food marginal, expensive prices for quality of food. Disappointment after hotel gave high reviews about their food. Won't go back.

Gave this place a chance TWICE. Never will be back. First visit, I ordered a cheeseburger medium. I got one almost rare. Blood all over the bun and plate and fries. They said they would remake it. Wrong! Slapped it back on the grill and back on the same bun and plate!!! GROSS. Trying to get me sick? I just ate the pattie because the bartender catered to the regular drunks and couldn't be bothered. The second visit was with a Group in gift that I received. Had my parents in tow. My mother's dinner was served ice cold and my father's steak was overdone. Waitress was awesome though. We sent the meals back but this time both steaks were tough as shoes...again, slap the same meat on the grill to reheat rather than make fresh. The place ought to really do something about the congregation of 10+ smokers standing right in front of the door both times I came. Patrons shouldn't have to say "excuse me?" in order to get to the door to open it to come in.

I really like this place. The inside is nothing that special. It's not bad, just not that big. The outdoor seating in the summer is nice though. On to the food...LOVE the burgers, especially the Belly Burger and the Rajun Cajun. Their steak sandwich with cheese, peppers, onions and au jus added is excellent as well. I really enjoy the ranch fries EVEN THOUGH they are only fries sprinkled with ranch seasoning and sour cream with the same seasoning in it to dip. Whatever, still good! Their fish fries are decent...not great, not bad. Decent selection of beer and the prices are pretty reasonable, or comparable to similar places. Friendly staff...what more can you ask for?

My wife, son and I stopped in because our hotel was just across the road from there. Jessica our server was mediocre at best. She was slow and not very personable, I wish we had moved so we could get another server but would have felt uncomfortable doing that. We also were disappointed that after spending $240 there we weren't comped even one drink, we found that unusual. When we come back to Milwaukee again in a few months we may give them another try but not if Jessica is our server, she's unfortunately a dud.

One of the best spots to eat for your money in Milwaukee I think. Thick burgers are made to perfection, chicken sandwiches are great and the ribs... Wow. A must try at least once.

What can you say? Bar food, although good bar food. The steak sandwich is very good, and a great Friday fish fry. Being an out of towner, the beer seemed a little more than I'm used to paying at home for a domestic bottle. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Will come back for sure when in town again, but will drink water.

This is my second time. The first time I was a little uncomfortable with the layout (dining is there as well plus I don't like new places)... Tonight I went there and was pleasantly surprised at how attentive the bartenders were and how nice and respectful the regulars were. I got served right away and was treated pretty nice as if I was important. Very big plus to talk to regulars and not be hit on. I love good conversation as if I was one of the "family". I will repeat and am glad I gave it a second try. Was very happy my soco and red bull was a drink rather than a bomb. I like to drink not chug. Also got help for taxi when I asked. Big plus. I can be anal retentive, so me saying this place is good.... means alot. lol

I remember coming here and enjoying the food however that is no longer the case. They seem to have no standards of quality anymore and the service at 2pm on a Friday was atrocious, unless you enjoy listening to the entire staff laughing for the entire place to hear about how many bottles of Patron they finished off. Burnt potato pancakes, tough cheese curds and a combination of undercooked French fries alongside fried twice French fries...definitely won't be back and I'd be pissed if I were the owner.

This was a very disappointing visit. We arrived and sat at the bar, the bartender greeted us courteously. The bartender took our order and first arrived the Reuben rolls, they we slightly under cooked, nothing I would ever be upset about, they we're pretty good. Our food came out and my boyfriend's food was warm but the fries we're so overcooked that he wouldn't eat them. He said his reuben was good, but average. I got the corned beef and cabbage, took one bite, and realized it was hardly luke warm. (My boyfriend had noticed the food sitting under a heat lamp for the better part of five minutes) I politely asked the bartender if she wouldn't mind warming it up, and apologized for inconveniencing her. She didn't say anything and took the plate. I sat for over ten minutes thinking that maybe they had forgotten my food in the microwave and watched her as she texted on her phone. She finally brought it out and said that it had been put in the oven which is why it took (until my boyfriend was done eating) so long. Still no apology or hopes that its hot enough. It was now, warm, but so over cooked that I had it boxed. I'm not normally picky, but I wasn't interested in over cooked and mostly bland corned beef and cabbage. Our bartender was forgetful of little things like sauce for my dinner, and a lemon for my beer (no big deal), but it did become annoying when I saw she continuously went to text. When I went to pay for this over priced dinner she asked if I needed change. Never ever ask if I need change, wait until I tell you to keep it. There were some more small things that made for a poor experience that if I keep listing will sound petty, but in general I was completely underwhelmed and annoyed by the bad service. I really have no interest in trying it again. My boyfriend who had gone several times before and always been a fan, said it has gone down hill since he'd last been there.

It's Friday night and we decided to order fish fry from Beer Belly's. The estimate that I received over the phone was 20 minutes and it ended up being 35 minutes. As I walked through the door, past the awesome patio seating, the scene was loud, with every bar stool occupied, televisions everywhere, and servers running like wild. There definitely was a buzz. It was mostly people meeting for drinks after work. I can see that they are a bar, and that is where they make their money. A little old soul like me just getting some food to go, was trampled and pushed and I was completely lost when I walked through the door. There was no front counter to inquire on my order and nobody really greeted me. I finally asked someone about my order and then had to wait a little longer. There was nowhere to sit and wait, or even stand and wait for that matter. After about an extra 15 minute wait, I received my food. We ordered cod fish fry and a clam strip dinner. The fish fry fit in the category of heavy, and completely satisfying comfort food. The fish was really flaky and extremely fresh. I got three huge filets and actually could only eat 2.5 of them. The batter almost seemed like the hero over the fish. It was a very thick, crunchy beer batter. The batter was so good and I could taste the beer in the batter. The cole slaw was chunky and roughly chopped, probably by hand, and it had a thick, sweet and creamy dressing. The onion rings ($1.50 up charge) were, of course, beer battered, thick and made with love. The ranch fries came with some special dip, which seems to consist of sour cream and the most delicious seasoning. The food was so good. The prices were about $6 more, before tax, than I expected. Ignore the prices on Yelp, those go to allmenu.com and they are way off. The menu on their Facebook page also seemed lower than reality. In addition, they charge $ 0.50 extra per take out entree, I guess for the styrofoam container? The price, although higher than I expected, was still well worth it! The food here was so good and I can let go of any bumps that I may have had to get there. There was a cool check in offer for dine in. I'll definitely be back!

Well, I've been here a few times in the past and was completely satisfied and full with their burgers, fries, and beer.. However today was a quite different experience. I got the bayou chicken sandwich with sour cream fries. Well the beer was good, I had 2 blue moons. I think the cook used at least half of a shaker full of lawrys season salt on the fries and chicken sandwich. I think he used another half shaker full of sea salt on the fries. It was a shame because I could see the chicken was very succulent, i almost could not taste it due to the lawrys. The dip for the fries was good except it had about 4 tablespoons of salt in it. In one 10 minute period near the end of the meal I sucked down an extra beer, a diet coke, and a water to get rid of the salty taste. I hope my bp is ok. I seriously don't know if they were trying to get us out of there or what. But they say that they serve food Late, so I dont get it. I hope i dont have a stroke I wont be going back unless they hire a new cook prices were cheap and there was a lot of food. bartender lady was fun and cute.

i seriously love, love, love, beer belly's food; especially the friday fish fry! from the cod to the beer battered walleye, perch and the shrimp bisque to start with! also, they have fantastic appetizers, like the wonton mozzarella sticks, jalapeno cream cheese poppers and the shrimp bruchetta.... in addition, they have a chips selection of foreign and wisconsin domestic beers on tap, let the beer keep flowing and the fun times rolling, :)!!!!

Let me start by saying, it's BAR food folks! If you want a 5 star restaurant, go elsewhere. If, however, you want fabulous Bar Food, this is the place. (By the way, FLAT screen's EVERYWHERE). Because it was very convenient, and after reading "between the lines" on some of the reviews, I thought I would give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I realized that no "strangers" walk into Beer Belly's. I was greeted with "hello's" and had a beer by the time I sat down. (Great selection). Ok, I'm a wing "connoisseur" if you will, so I thought I would start with the wings. I get them "naked" fried extra crispy with the Volcanic sauce on the side. In a word, PERFECTLYAMAZING. Although the sauce is not hot, it is full of flavor. The wings will go right to the top of my list. Fried perfectly, wonderfully crispy and with a little parsley (who would have thought about great presentation on wings)? Then, I decided to try a burger.... It's not on the menu, but Sheila (she's a flippin' HOOT and should own the place) recommended the cheeseburger with a brat patty, smothered in grilled onions warm sauerkraut and American cheese. All I can say is DAMN! Let's start with the bun, fresh, grilled, soft with that little bit of crunch. The burger, lightly seasoned, cooked to perfection with a very flavorful brat patty. The combination was amazing, a party on my palate! And do yourself a favor, order the FRIES!! So, when I come to Milwaukee, I will stay very close and will become a regular at Beer Belly's. And for you "cheap" folks, it won't break the bank. Enjoy!

Went here for the first time this past Sunday during a packers game, it was pretty busy, had no problem getting a table though. Service was great! Server was Jessica, she was friendly and efficient! Can't ask for much more than that! Started with the soup, not positive...but pretty sure it was homemade...very good! Next I had some wings, which had a nice crunch to them and were delicious...Parmesan garlic flavor, yum! Bacon cheeseburger was up next, and was also delicious, the side of ranch fries were really good as well! Also tried the ultimate Bloody Mary, which was quite tasty and came with almost a full meal on s skewer. All in all a good experience and would recommend to others.

Restaurant was good. Older crowd at 5 pm. Busy place which was a good sign to us. My complaint is I feel our waitress rushed us out because it was a Friday and they had people waiting. I paid for my food too you know. The waitress literally started picking up my stuff off the table my napkins and so on. She saw my face when I looked at my wife with a "can you believe that look" and when she came back to take my plate made extra sure I was ready. Food good, ambiance ok, service fair. Don't rush people when they are eating at your establishment. But, I would eat here again as the prime rib sandwich was good and my wife had the russian which she enjoyed.

I would come to a place like this to drink rather than eat. But I did go there to eat and I was left wanting a lot more. The menu was large and probably had something for everyone. Side salads...um more like lettuce that was cut up days ago, and left in the refrigerator with a couple slices of cucumber and tomatoes. Cucumbers that are opaque? Probably not safe to eat. Onion rings were pretty delicious as were the fries, hand cut, yum. My patty melt on the other hand, had a strange flavor, sorta like the ingredients had been sitting in a fridge too long and absorbed a stale taste. My boyfriend ordered prime rib - not the place you would usually order that, but it was one of their specials and he went for it. It was good, but not great. So it's probably safe to say anything fried in this place will probably be good. But anything else, it's a toss up.

Great atmosphere, good prices and very friendly wait staff! We had the Friday night fish fry, and although the place was busy, the waitress and bartender both were every efficient. Fish fry and crab legs were outstanding, and the beer selection was great. Definitely going back!

For an accurate and more detailed review, see Lindsey O's. I was just the getaway driver. We called in the order from the road at 6:00 and said we would be arriving for pick-up in about twenty minutes. The nice lady on the phone (and then it takes a horrible turn) said she would put it in at 6:10 so it would be ready when we got there. At 6:20 ,Lindsey O went it to pick up the order (Fish Fry for us Catholic-types). At 6:30, no sign of Lindsey O so I called her cell and she explained that the order just went in at 6:20. This was after she was verbally abused by a server (our theory is owner's daughter but pure speculation only). At 6:54, Lindsey O walked out with our soggy slop. Due to absolutely horrid customer service, Beer Belly will never see these Os again.

Good drink prices, very good gastro-pub food. Never once have been disappointed coming here. Make sure you have time as the service is slow, but the food is worth the wait. Only real complaint I have is that they need to update some of their TVs as they are outdated and have a crappy connection. Standout on the menu is the Prime Rib Dip sandwich. Ranch fries are also a bit of a hidden gem. Update: They have all new, huge HD flat-screens!

In the past, I enjoyed eating here but the last few visits have been disappointing. I enjoy bar food normally but expect it to be good. When I ordered a hamburger at one visit, it was dry and the bun just ordinary (ie: cardboard flavor). I tried their ribs last time and was suprised at the small amount served. It looked like they had been cooked a long time ago, reheated and a tiny bit of BBQ sauce placed on top. There were 4 or 5 small pieces of ribs and the last two were so dry i couldn't bite into them. Service was fast but she only stopped once right after bringing our food but before we got to sample it, and then again after we were done. I mentioned that some of the ribs were too dry, she just said "Oh" and then took our plates away.

This place was close to our hotel and was recommended by the concierge as a good sports bar and a place to watch the football games. This place shouldn't be considered a sports bar. There a plenty of sports memorabilia on the walls, but there are only a handful of TVs... and they are small and crappy. They only have the local games... no Sunday Ticket. No Wi-Fi. And the stereo was blaring out crappy 80's music the whole time. Cindi Lauper and Ray Lewis don't mix. We ordered wings when we first arrived. They were very good. However, once they were devoured, we left on our way to a different bar that was more in line to what we expected from a sports bar.

Sort of yum... I was out in Milwaukee for business and came here with a couple of work colleagues. At other restaurants in the area, we'd been reading "Friday fish fry" in the menus all week and it was finally Friday and we were in a restaurant with fish fry so all three of us decided to go with the fish. The fish was tender and moist and fried in a nice crisp batter. The dish came with a side of cole slaw and I asked for fries with my dish (though there were a few other options for sides). Overall, it was nice, but nothing outstanding about the experience. There was a full bar and I got beer to wash down the greasy fried food. Our waitress wasn't v. attentive though and we had trouble tracking her down to get us ice water and again to refill our water cups. It was a busy night though, crowded, with lots of locals watching the baseball game or something. I don't recommend going here, but I also don't discourage it. It's just an okay place.

Good local place to grab a beer and bite to eat.

Not terrible. I've been here a few times since it's close to my place of business and has "American" food - you can get sandwiches, fries, "Bumbas" of beer. The usual.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon and had a WONDERFUL burger. Even though I had to request lettuce, onion and tomato (which I feel should be standard issue), they were very accommodating, and didn't even charge me extra. It did come with freshly sautéed mushrooms though, which were outstanding. The service was great, and my friend's bacon cheeseburger was equally fantastic. My only complaint is that there weren't any vegetarian options on the menu, besides sides and appetizers. Still, it really was a shame that more people weren't there... although that could be because I came on a Sunday. They have a pretty big patio and many TVs inside to watch. I will definitely come back another day to sit outside!

Nothing was bad, but nothing was great - besides the service! Consensus was that the mixed drinks were weak, the fries were good, and the oversized french rolls made the sandwiches a bit dry. The non-smoking area was approximately 10 feet from the smoky bar, which didn't quite do the trick.

With a name like beerbellys I would expect a much better line of beers or at least Wisconsin brews!?!? They didnt even have the full line of new Glarus. The one draft I had ($5.50) was not even that cold. Please get more beers and make sure they are cold for your customers. So beer 1 star for this place. Now the burgers are rocking and I highly recommend them! Service was great and had a very clean bar.

I've been looking for a place to call home for my weekly grocery trip to Woodman's in Oak Creek and I think I stumbled upon it this evening. Beer Belly's is bar food that's worth getting excited about. I've definitely got to stop on a Friday as their menu is the first I've seen with both smelt and bluegill on it. This evening, I had the Ragin' Cajun burger with fries and was happy with both. My burger was cooked to perfect and the fries were quite enjoyable as well. I had a buffalo wings appetizer which also was quite good...nothing spectacular, but definitely good enough for a return visit. Prices were decent and service good. A comfortable atmosphere for the sports fan with multiple HDTVs throughout. Patio dining was also available.

First time here, last time too. First Friday of Lent, time for some fish fry! Called for pick up around 6 pm and told her we would arrive in about 20 minutes. She said she would put it in at 6:10. Awesome! Crispy hot food when we get home. The person that answers the phone (Maria?) is fabulous. Super nice and accommodating. When ordering, I requested an extra piece of cod and fries for one and potato pancakes with the other. When I arrived the place was uber busy. The lay out isn't very conducive to carry out. The bar takes up most of the entrance and you have to pay at the bar, so use your imagination. The bartender (very friendly) originally told me to wait near the entrance and then asked me to move to the other side of the bar. No problem. I can follow instructions. When I got around to the other side of the bar one of the waitstaff, we'll call her She-Ra, barked to move back. I told her i was picking up and she responded in a loving way (insert sarcasm) "Yeah, well, there are a lot of people in here right now. You need to move back". So I moved back and considered walking out. A man at the bar turned and asked me if I was helped. I replied "Yes, after I was yelled at." He stared at me for about 5 seconds and then turned around. Well, why'd you ask mister? I think he may be the owner, he was then at the door greeting his customers (which I am not?). Meanwhile I'm waiting and standing on top of some dude trying to enjoy his meal and She-Ra is texting and talking about "this sh&t is bad. I'd rather have 6 kids than deal with this sh&t". Wow, I think that 5 year old at the table to my left just repeated sh&t to their mother. Hi, customer here. Mind you, I can drop a bomb every now and then so I'm not so prudish as to believe people don't swear. Its usually not your waitstaff in ear shot of customers. Perhaps mister's daughter? Why else would she be so bold? Our order finally was ready at 6:54 pm. So much for 10 minutes. Oh wait, the food. I was so happy with my experience I almost forgot. Remember I said I ordered an extra piece of cod. Yeah, didn't get it, but paid an extra $2.75 for it and a $1.00 for take out. The fish was unremarkable (but big) and greasy. The coleslaw was standard, the marble rye soft and rye-ie, the fries, eh...greasy. I did like the potato pancakes, however, they were large. So, if you want to go to a super loud, bad service, get yourself verbally abused, go to Beer Belly's. You won't forget your experience.

I came here while spending a random night in Milwaukee on a recent midwestern vacation. I totally enjoyed the atmosphere of this spot and was really stoked to find what I would consider a good beer... The bartender, a wonderful woman who I have since forgotten her name (sorry!), helped me decide on the "Spotted Cow" when I told her the kinds of beers I normally like. I loved it and was very impressed because I was worried Wisconsin might not own up on their beer the way California does. They definitely did, thank goodness. If I'm ever back in Milwaukee again, I'll have to stop by!

I had a cousin visiting from Manhattan who made one demand of me for his trip. Like any good old school Catholic, he said wanted to sample the best Friday fish fry Milwaukee had to offer. And to me, that's Beer Belly's. Now I say that this place is the best in fish fry alone. The exterior has all the charm of a restaurant named after an unfortunate physical attribute, located near a medium-sized Midwestern airport. The service, even in a nearly-empty restaurant, is usually slow and lousy. It either takes them forever to take your order, deliver your food, bring you your bill, or bring your receipt back. Or all four of these things. But if you're looking for the best Friday fish fry, this is it. It is moist and hot and flaky, and the portions I always receive leave me feeling like a tranquilized animal whenever I attempt to finish the whole thing. I have recently taken to eating half and bringing the other half home. It can really serve as at least a meal and a half. So if you're looking for great service with a smile, mosey on down the line. But if the Pope is visiting and demands the finest Friday fish fry in all the land, feel confident in taking him down West Layton to Beer Belly's.

I went to Beer Belly's on a Friday night - it was busy but the staff was definitely on top of the situation. There was a lot of communication amongst the staff regarding clean towels, clean glasses, hot water in the cleaning stations, etc. Overall I got the vibe that mgmt was on top of things. My steak was perfectly cooked, and the sides were fresh - the meal overall was delicious and definitely worth the price. I haven't tried the Wed/Sat prime rib but will make a point of it now. The decor is very Milwaukee sports bar, but it completely fits. It's perhaps a little bright (though I did visit at 7:30, they may dim later on), but overall I'll definitely stop back.

We stayed near the airport and upon asking for a reccomendation for an affordable place that might serve some seafood, we headed to beerbellys. The place served me a great meal. Prime rib and Alaskan crab leg in a bar? And yes it's a real live, grimy little bar. Don't go there expecting restaurant decor, it's a bar, with great food at a great price for the meal you are served. I got a 12 oz prime rib and 1 lb of crackers (scales must have been broke probably 2 lbs total) for like 22 dollars. I would have paid twice that minimum, anywhere else. And yes the spotted cow is very good beer from a non beer drinker.

Here in milwaukee for Summerfest and to eat at many of my old favorite haunts. Thought we would try Beer Belly's as we were staying around the airport and had never tried it and had heard and read good things. Friday night and was headed to Serb Hall. Saw Fish Fry at Beer Belly's, who would have thought. Stopped in and greeted promptly even though Belly's was busy. Seated and ordered from the great selection, walleye, perch, and blue gill to name a few. I ordered the walleye (fried) with french fries and coleslaw and my girl ordered the pan fried perch, potato pancakes, and slaw. The walleye was a tremendous portion, hot, lightly breaded, and delightful. The best I have had in some time. The french fries were old style and great. My girl's perch was excellent, the potato pancakes were served cold (unfortunately) but replaced with a heaping order of fries after alerting them to their miscue. Overall we were extremely satisfied and definitely will return for another fish fry Friday or try something else. Pub fare at it's very best. When we are back in town we will make it a definite place to dine.

Don't get your hopes up. The locals sit in here at the bar and yell at each other. It's got the atmosphere of the 50's. Nothing special of a place unless you are deaf. All in all, a sad place.

Never understood the appeal if this place. Ok ribs. ok beer. ok food. Usually too crowded. The few times I was here, it was usually at the request of co-workers who wanted to rave about the friday fish specials. I always left wondering "why"? The one bright spot here -- the staff -- they were always been outstanding.

Had to go down star based on a recent trip. The restaurant itself is surrounding a full bar.....just not a fully stocked bar. I went in for lunch on Sunday, and the waitress immediately offered me a beer. I told her I wasn't interested in beer, but asked if she had any cider. Not an unusual question, I thought, since anywhere else I go will usually rattle off the cider they carry (Strongbow, Crispin, Woodchuck, Mangers, etc.) But, the waitress just gave me a blank stare. So, instead, I rattled off the list of possible ciders they could carry. She turned to the girl working the bar and asked her if they carried any cider. She then looked back at me and asked, "Alcohol Right?!?" My response, "Um....Yeah". Then the waitress apologized that she was new to the whole "alcohol thing" and said she was only familiar with the basics. The bartender then came back up front from somewhere in the back and said all they have is a hot, spiced cider. Clearly, not understanding what I wanted. So, I settled with a Coke. How is it possible to have a full bar and not have any clue what cider is? It is Everywhere!!! So, as much as I liked them before, the lack of basic bar knowledge leaves me a bit disappointed.

Well, to begin, this part of town isn't one of Milwaukee's finest, so the neighborhood itself adds a bit of a grungy feel. Going in, however, it felt extremely "bar-like," and not in a good way. It was a pub, of sorts, but extremely loud, and it just looked dirty. That isn't to say that it was dirty--- but it just gave off that "dirty feel." The food wasn't bad. The paninis were pretty good, but they weren't what one of think of as a panini. It was more of a toasted sandwich. Typical pub food, in a sub-par pub atmosphere. It seems to me to be more of a place to go if, in Milwaukee, you wanted to re-create the movie "The Hangover" for yourself.

We've been to Beer Belly's 2 or 3 times before, but those visits were always on weekends. So, I think we allowed a great deal of patience for table waiting, food delivery, etc. Last night, we thought a Tuesday night would be pretty quick and easy as we had some other errands. We were seated and had drink and food orders taken right away, but then proceeded to wait almost an 45 minutes until our food arrived. My husband and I both ordered sandwiches - one was the daily special and one was a BLT. Seemed like a pretty simple order. After about 25 minutes, we flagged the waitress down (who had not stopped by once to refill our empty drinks.) She said that the food was "almost ready" but there were three parties ahead of us. No apologies - just a statement of fact. Based on the amount of additional time it took to get the food (15 minutes), I suspect she forgot to put the order in and didn't want to admit it. The first apology we got was right before I had to sign the credit card slip for the tip. We had a coupon and strangely, I had to sign a separate slip to verify the coupon was valid?!? Not worth it for us to go back. Plenty of other nearby restaurants with food that is more interesting and service that is more efficient.
