High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. Ee took a quick stop here for dinner last night. Our server was J.J. He was overall fantastic. He knew the menu well and was helpful with suggestions. plus he was very good with my rambunctious 2 year old. Service was quick and friendly. The food was as expected, not awesome, but I've never been a huge fan of chain restaurant food. It was neither terrible nor excellent. J.J. was pretty great. My only complaint is that he never cleared any of the empty dishes from the table while we were there.

Applebees is what happens when 4 people of very different ages have to pick out a place to eat FAST! My mom, my bf, my stepdaughter and I came back from a trip to Old World WIsconsin wiped out and starving, so naturally no one wanted to cook and we opted to go to a nearest place to our house, which was this Applebees. The waitress was decent but not very familiar with the concept of personal space as she bend down to my level as I was sitting and told me right in my face/ear why she doesn't like the salmon meal. I had to literally lean back the whole time. Ok, so I change my mind and go with the steak. Bad idea! The steak, which looked like it was taken out of a frozen dinner box (one they sell at a Dollar Tree in a frozen section, not even Stauffers), was laying next to something dry looking and yellow. Upon closer inspection I determined that it was corn. Looks can be deceiving, so maybe this would be the case? No it wasn't. When I put a forkful in my mouth, my senses were met with a hint of mop that was kept out in a bucket full of dirty water for a week. The corn STANK. It tasted appropriately to the smell, which was saltless, dry, and moppy. I don't even want to know what happened to it, but I refused to eat it. Then I took a bite out of the steak. A good steak should have some fibers that melt in your mouth. Melting aside, as this is Applebees and my expectations are low, it should at least taste like steak. Just a little bit. This tasted like oversalted mess-I don't even know what kind of poor animal had to be sacrificed to create something this awful, but good chances are that it died on its own. Probably somewhere behind a freezer. When we were ready, the waitress came up to collect the dishes and ask how was everything. With my corn, most of average mashed potatoes, and a barely touched steak on the plate, I told her I don't want it anymore because I didn't like it and thought it was awful. She...asked if I would like a to go container. Um, if I didn't want it in my mouth NOW because it was disgusting, I doubt I will drastically change my mind once I get home. Ofcourse thats where my mother chimed in and said "yes, please give us the container" because she has an aversion for complaining and said that she will take it with her. Overall, this is probably what prison food tastes like.

Yep, its an Applebees! This one could stand to be updated a bit and could use some later hours during the week. I sometimes stop here for a quick bite/drink after work. I always seem to have the same server, Randi. I don't even come here all that often, yet she always remembers my name, what I like to drink, what I usually order, where I work, etc. It's awesome to see someone have such passion for good service. Whenever I think about coming here I always know that I can find some friendly faces here :) I've never once had a problem with any of my food or drinks here. The half price appetizers after 10:00 PM are always awesome.

My grandma had a gift card so she wanted to visit Applebee's for the first time. I usually enjoy Applebee's in Racine an get great service. Service sucked. Big time. And I'm usually not too picky about service. Grandma got coffee served. Took a drink and told me it was cold. I thought surely that granny had lost her mind. I took a sip and he was right. Not a hint of even lukewarm in that cup. I flagged down the hostess who said that the manager would bring her a fresh cup. Waited about 25 for the soup we had asked for "before" our meal. The meal came out no more than a minute or two later so here we were trying to finish our soup quickly so our food didn't get cold. Coffee came finally about 5 minutes after the entree, 30 minutes from when we asked for hot coffee. Ridiculous. Didn't see a manager at all and no one cared to even try to comp us for all the problems. I would drive out of my way to not go here and granny said that her first time at Applebee's is also her last.

Seriously. The three times my boyfriend and I have visited this one, has been NOTHING like any other apple bees experience ive ever had. I LOVE applebees. You can not go wrong with late night half off appetizers and two dollar long islands. However somehow someway something goes wrong at this location. The first of the three in a row my boyfriend ordered ribs and about fifteen minutes of waiting, the waitress FINALLY comes and tells us that they are all out! WTF! He had a burger then that was pink, and no money off the bill for the inconvenience. The second time (a month after the first) was the waitress that we had, I cant remember her name but she was SO GHETTO and rude. She didnt bring me a lemon for my water and when i asked for it, she LEGIT rolled her eyes. Then took long to bring the food, and we know it was her fault becauste it wasnt hot. We did not tip her. The third and final time we went there, about a month ago, I ordered a trio and they managed to mess it up and send me two out of three items wrong, I then had to wait for the RIGHT food, and she took my plate, it wasnt like she left it for me to eat so I had to sit there and not eat anything while my boyfriend finished up his meal. Again nothing off the bill for the inconvenience. No MATTER what we will take the drive to one of the other area Applebees!

Place is okay until one day I asked for food, they didn't give me food until I told them what I wanted, they asked what I wanted and I told them I wanted food. They went back and got me food. I didn't like the food so I just ate it anyways because I was hungry. When I was done with my food they gave me a bill. I payed for the bill regardless of how I didn't like my food. How rude. Hey that rhymes. Well Applebee's maybe next time.

I just love Applebee's... Mostly for the long islands, queso dip, spinach artichoke dip and wings. This specific location has always had a friendly staff and timely service. No complaints!

Applebee's is certainly never your first choice. When rattling through things you'd like to do on a Thursday after work when you're hungry your brain does not gravitate towards, "hey, you know what would be the most perfect thing right now? Applebee's!" So that doesn't happen and that's fine because nobody expects that to. You expect consistency, marginal service and a quesadilla to be a part of your meal whether you order one or not. Last night I saw something in the wild that I've never seen before. I'm not looking to faulty anyone or use this as some weird Yelp leverage to convince you not to come here - it just struck me as odd and worth mentioning. There was a host in training. Which I guess, most jobs require some sort of basic training/boot camp to get you prepared for servitude. But hosting? Strange. The very green host was the least of my concerns. The service was slow, extremely slow. And they knew it. The waiter would apologize and dish out sympathetic eye-rolls as if to say, "you see what I'm dealing with? I'm on your side, this is ridiculous." But this didn't correct anything or improve the dining conditions. The food was pretty hit or miss. Fries were old tasting, shrimp was OK, Oreo shake was divine. Oh yeah, and it was cold in there. It was like they were filming the sequel to Ice Station Zebra in your Neighborhood Grill. That coupled with the polar vortex, limpy fries and off service - P.U. Pass. Go elsewhere.

I tried the shrimp linguini for 13$ and u only get 5 little baby shrimps! The sauce was overpower by the tomato sauce they use on the pasta that it tasted sour! I will not tried again or recommend it to any one ! Oh and to top that off my dinner was cold at the bottom!

I am fairly certain that there is little cooking going on in the kitchen at any Applebee's. I imagine there are several microwave ovens going during dinner service and frozen pre portioned entrees is the norm. I don't understand why anyone would claim this is good food. Yes this location is clean and they serve alcohol. The servers have plenty of flair and while some of the customers seem suspect, the staff was polite and did their jobs with a smile. They serve alcohol.

The only reason I came here tonight is because my son gave me a 50 dollar gift card for Christmas. I ordered some kind of chicken in bourbon sauce with mushrooms, green peppers, & potato chunks. The sauce tasted sour, the potatoes were overdone, & the whole serving was full of grease & looked like a mess. I traded with my Granddaughter she ordered chicken tenders & fries & it came with a cole slaw that was awful. The tenders were like you get at the grocery in the freezer. The fries were warm so I complained & the waitress brought me a fresh hot batch just out of the fryer. We were seated by the hostess & then had to wait about 10 minutes to get menus. Our waitress forgot our silverware then forgot to bring me back my gift card . I just hate to go back to spend the rest of my gift card. The only good thing here is the desserts. Don't waste your money. Oh also the ladies restroom was dirty & a mess.

My wife and I were looking for a bite to eat after the theater down town the other night. Several friends had spoken well about this Applebee's, so we decided to stop there on our way home. My wife had the the Oriental Chicken Salad and LOVED IT! It was tasty and had more than enough chicken breast on top of lettuce almonds and delightfully crunchy Asian noodles. The dressing was, she said, very good and a great complement to the salad. I was hungry so I found a dinner that proved to be absolutely delicious. I don't recall the name of the dish but it was a grilled chicken dinner with grilled shrimp over seasoned rice. The name of the dish had something to do with the sauce that came with it. Our waitress suggested that I allow her to bring it on the side because some customers didn't care for it. Her suggestion was a good one not because the sauce was bad but because it allowed me to experiment. I found the sauce to be delightful and not at all inappropriate for the dish. It was a mild white creamy sauce with ever so slight hints of horse radish. I know horse radish is not a favorite flavoring for a lot of people but, it is, in this case really not a problem. I would next time allow the sauce to be served atop the dinner. Both of us decided that the meal was good and we would return to this location.

I enjoy eating at Applebee's on occasion. For a chain restaurant they generally are better than most. This Holt Ave. location is very good. The place is clean. The waitress was attentive and skilled (there's nothing worse than being served a meal with the slam and bump of a gutter ball -- which did not happen here -- she had a smooth, confident delivery). I enjoy the Oriental chicken salad which was fine. I also like the fact that they're open until midnight, for those rare times when I need to eat very late. All in all.... a pleasant-enough visit. I'll come back.

Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar.
