Great small town diner in Mequon... Lots of seating... good breakfast food... Prices are a little steep for breakfast.. But the food was good...

Hidden gem in Mequon. There are some good places for breakfast in the area but don't let the traditional kitchen/diner decor fool you, this place serves great food. I had one of the best Eggs Benedict ever here when we tried it for the first time. I'm a vegetarian and they substituted spinach and tomato for the ham which made us really happy. Service was good, food came out quick. The prices were a bit steep but it was worth it. We will definitely be back!

I called the cafe a little after seven this morning to place an order for pickup. Just an order of French toast - that's all. The man who answered the phone and took my order was unbelievably curt - almost aggressive - and then hung up before I could get the phrase "thank you" out of my mouth. I picked up my French toast and the woman that helped me at the register was really nice. When I got out to the car, I couldn't resist eating a slice during the four-minute drive home (I live down the street). When I opened the box, I was extremely disappointed with what I saw. The French toast was thin sliced, like regular bread, which isn't a dealbreaker. When I opened the styrofoam box, it looked like someone just tossed the slices in there and then shook it up, like, for spite or something. It had clearly been crushed against the griddle really hard with a spatula. What ruined it, though, was it appeared that after the French toast had come off the griddle, someone, like, smashed one side of each piece into a bowl of cinnamon. I love cinnamon; it's an important part of a classic French toast, and the dish would be naked without it! But there was so much on there, I couldn't shake it off and I couldn't eat it. My family has lived in Mequon for more than 20 years now, and all the locals with whom I have ever discussed the Wooden Goose have nothing good to say about it. I'm sorry to say that I'm one of those locals, now, too. I spent over $7 to be treated rudely by a little man on the phone and to get a serving of French toast I had to take home and scrape the cinnamon off. Don't worry, Wooden Goose Cafe, I won't be irritating you with my business anymore. I'm super disappointed - I could ride my bike there on a nice day and would have eaten there all the time, if I weren't treated with such...hostility. It's a lousy way to start your day. If you're looking for a great breakfast with service that doesn't leave you feeling like you did something wrong by bothering them with your money, try Cafe 1505 or First Watch Cafe. Chuck's Place in Thiensville has been around forever - I used to eat there as a little kid, and Chuck Himself (God rest his immortal soul!) would come to the table to tell us jokes. Up the freeway two exits is an awesome coffee shop and a Milwaukee legend, Colectivo Coffee (Alterra's new incarnation after the name was sold to a major corporation) - the bacon potato burrito can't be beat, and the baked oatmeal is to die for.

Love. My grandma used to take me here years ago, but I rediscovered The Wooden Goose while in the area for a wedding. It was the morning after brunch spot, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is old-school diner meets country chic. The staff are friendly locals. They have all of the breakfast standards: eggs, hash browns, toast, waffles. But they also have all of these super-charged breakfast foods on steroids: massive scramblers called "hopple popple"and "goose bun" cinnamon buns the size of your head doused in homemade cream cheese glaze! Both delicious. They also make a perfect grilled cheese, and believe me, I'm an expert. Perfectly toasty and buttery on the outside, gooey and melty inside. With crispy crinkle cut fries and ketchup, I'm in heaven.

I LOVE BREAKFAST - REALLY GOOD BREAKFAST... Was referred to go their by some friends since we were looking in OZ county for a place to have breakfast (which, by the way, is hard to find outside of Cedarburg). When arriving, there was a line out the door (Sunday) and a 45 minute wait...no problem - we were hungry and didn't want to go anywhere else. Upon seating us, we waited for 10 minutes to get water and a server to take our order which was OK, cause it was Sunday. Then it got worse - we waited for over an hour for our meals - which was frustrating as we had already waited an hour to get seated and we didn't come with a big group. Overall, the food was OK. I was expecting more - and I guess I was disappointed in the end. We are willing to try this again, but hope that the next time we go - we'll get better service and attention.

We came here today for breakfast and was told that there was a 20 min wait for a table. Decided to stay and left 1 1/2 hours later! What a waste. Their is no bus server for the room so the hostess played triple duty greeting guests, busing tables, and play cashier. All this while the owner/manager sits on his fat butt being served 2 PBR's at a time while he sits at the breakfast bar. BTW - there is no liquor service here. Once we did get a table we sat next to a empty table that wasn't cleaned for at least 20 mins, so we had some entertainment watching the flies circle the left over pancakes. We waited for our food for at least a 1/2 hour and I never ask my husband to leave, but at one point I begged him to leave. He recommend we stick it out as we had to be getting closer to being served. The coffee is see through weak, the eggs benedict had a packaged made vinegar based hollandaise! The American fries were a sliced up baked potato that was just warmed up. While there is a steady stream of people none of their food looked any better. What are these folks willing to pay for this mush for? Keep your money and do the I-HOP or Denny's.

Excellent hashbrowns! Some other dude gave this place a bad review....don't believe everything you read! This diner had great food and service. Nice to find a good homemade meal in this fast food (crap) area of Mequon.

A quaint restaurant located in an office complex along N. Port Washington Rd., just North of Mequon Rd. We arrived Sunday morning to find a packed restaurant, only waited a short 5 minutes for a four top table. Our order was taken promptly & just a few minutes passed before the waitress returned with our drinks. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger even though it was breakfast time. I consider it one of the top 5 burgers in the greater Milwaukee area & never pass on a chance to inhale one. It was done to perfection & filled the void in my stomach well. The steak fries included are pretty good considering they were previously frozen. Amazing how good hot fry oil can make something taste. The rest of my party ordered breakfast type items. No complaints, just happy faces like usual. The kitchen always looks clean & organized. I'm notorious for sticking my head into any accessible kitchen to take a peak. The staff is always courteous & attentive. Parking is abundant on the weekends, weekdays can be a little tough with all the office activity.

Get here people! A great breakfast joint! The eggs benedict is a great breakfast to order - a large proportion with just enough hollandaise sauce to make this fellow happy (can you ever have enough hollandaise sauce? i think not!) The real winner however would be the hashbrowns - they were perfection. Those who follow me know I am always in search of the perfect hashbrown, and this place is ranking up there as having one of my favorites. Great service. Great prices. Nothing fancy, but for breakfast I just want good, hot food - and this place will not disappoint.

This cute little cafe is located in an office on the ground level so it may be easy to miss if just passing by and not looking for it however it should not be overlooked in terms of options for breakfast lunch in the Mequon area. I really liked the food here and judging from the constant stream of people, I think others do too. The atmosphere is something that you would find "Up North" - cozy and cute, just like a down home diner should be. Their menu is really extensive and their specials were really good too! A must try and cannot wait to go back. Only open for Breakfast and Lunch!

This place is riding on the "Only Game in Town" train. The food was barely palatable. I ordered Eggs Benedict and a short stack. The pancakes were so rubbery and cold I couldn't eat them, and the Bennies were terrible. Cold by the time I got them, bad cuts of ham and powdered Hollandaise sauce. The wait staff showed only the bare minimum of attention, Drinks, order, check. I had to flag down random employees for coffee refills. Save your money, this place blows.
