Rudy's opening marks the beginning of spring for more than 40 years. A week ago my wife and I enjoyed our first Chili Dogs and Onion Rings and that drink of choice a Root Beer Cooler. Haa Spring! Thanks for bringing an end to winter.

Food always comes out good. $1 root beer float! Great steal. The service previously was better than the most recent. The most recent, gave me a water filled milk jug when I asked her for a pitcher of water which I've received before. I'm not a dog... So there's that. Also she knew I didn't have singles, but she gave me a $5 bill back when my bill was $5.15.... Don't know if that was purposefully, but rather dumb/disrespectful on her part.

Rudy's is one of those spots with chicks on skates that bring food to your car. We opted to go in so I could finally try some OG Wisconsin cheese curds! Maybe I built them up too much in my head and put them on a pedestal.. but, I am not sure I'm understanding the hype on the curds. Good but, not like holy shit good! They're basically mini mozzarella sticks.

Great place for lunch. Yummy root beer floats and tasty bacon cheeseburgers. They have 3 rolly high chairs inside if you need seating for little ones. Only open in summers.

Went there today (on opening day) ordered a chili cheese dog with onions and a bacon cheese dog. The cheese on top of the chili dog was just melted processed cheese & I got the onions on the wrong hot dig. Very displeased with the food. Staff & atmosphere are the only reason I'm rating it more than one star.

Americana lives on at Rudy's. Oh yeah and the food is great. Take the family and enjoy!

step one: order super burger with bacon. step two: order jalapeño cheese curds. step three: puts curds on burger. #howtowisconsin

Great food and great service, I always know what I'm getting with Rudy's. Very cheap take home root beer as well. I would say that Rudy's root beer is their pride and joy. Their floats are the best selling item, and the rootbeer isn't far behind. Pretty good burgers too.

It just doesn't get better than Rudy's. Try a burger with fried onions, tom, lettuce and mayo. Onion rings are amazing as are the cheese curds. The service is awesome and prompt. Thanks Gary for making my day with a float yet again! You can also try a root beer cooler or a turtle sundae for something different. There's no bad choices on the menu, so come often!

We all love Rudy's. It's been a mainstay of La Crosse for decades. My dad worked for old man Rudy and his son has carried the fine tradition on. the people are so nice and the food is awesome. Cooked great and many healthy option to accompany the drive-in favorites. Come here for cruise night or for many other community based things Gary and his crew support. Buy local support local!!!! Thanks Rudy's!!

I don't think I've ever gone to Rudy's and got only one root beer float. They make their own root beer, and when I go home, my twin cities friends make me bring back jugs. Absolutely delicious. Their corn dogs are fantastic, and the chili dogs to die for. Best place to eat in La Crosse by a long shot.

I LOVE Rudy's! Anyone who has lived in La Crosse knows about Rudy's. Always great food. It's a BIG part of the community around here. I look forward to their opening every year!

This is a great place to stop for a meal. There is a lot of variety on the menu, the service is quick, and everything is tasty. The atmosphere takes you back a bit and is, in my opinion, quite charming. Definitely a place that I recommend to anyone passing through town.

Not what we were expecting. Fried food prepared from frozen...not fresh and hand battered. A&W does it better...at least where I live. No free refills on Rudy's house root beer. A&W makes it fresh daily too and they keep it flowing until you say stop. I had the "NEW" BBQ Pork Sandwich. It was ok but should be half the price they are charging. We won't be going back.

Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Food: 4/5 Drive-up food stands....wow. I did not know they still existed. Coming from the city, we don't have the space for something like this, so instant ambiance boost for the classics. This place made me nostalgic for the good old days. Roller skate service and all. The food was not bad. Pretty standard burgers and above average fries. I had the buffalo burger which was surprisingly juicy since buffalo is known for its leanness. But the two items which really shone was the the Root Beer float which was great! and I don't even like root beer! But what REALLY made me love this place and come back EVERY day was the jalapeño cheese curds. I mean, this is so good it should be illegal! Clumps of squeaky cheese with bits of jalapeño DEEP FRIED? There was the perfect balance between crunch, chewiness, saltiness, and kick. One of those things where you didn't know you couldn't live without until you had it! Tip: Eat the cheese curds FAST. After about 15 minutes, they cool off and become pretty average,

I always look forward to Rudy's opening - the root beer is fantastic and the food is pretty decent as well. While the food is pretty typical american/fast food (but SO much better than McDonalds or anything close to it), you really go for the root beer and atmosphere more than anything. It's not intended to be McDonalds speed, but I don't think we've ever waited very long for food at all - you could easily get on your way in 10 minutes or less. You have the option of sitting inside, on a picnic table, or in your car. I always love their chicken tenders and their hamburgers. The fries are great as well. I haven't actually found something that I don't like on their menu and they offer Gundersen's 500 club items - things with the logo are under 500 calories. Not necessarily common for a restaurant like that. They don't take cards yet but have an ATM inside, as well as being just a block from a kwik trip. It's just a great experience if nothing else- very summery atmosphere.

Update: New chicken tenders. One word: delicious! Might be the single best restaurant item to be had in La Crosse County. I know that isn't saying much, but still. Bring your own maple syrup. Your basic dive-y drive-in, but with some local flavor (see other reviews). Two very important words at Rudy', though: chicken nuggets. Best damn chicken nuggets on the planet. Who knew chicken nuggets could be so good. Word to the wise: bring your own malt vinegar and deli mustard for the fried fish/nuggets/fries.

I don't get the whole drive-up thing that Rudy's and A&W has going in this part of the world - it's not fast. In fact, it's down right slow - really slow. The food is 3 star worthy, but the lack of "fast" brings it back down to 2. I got the walnut burger on a wheat bun and while it sounds kinda weird, it was good. My boyfriend said that the hamburger was good too. Not gonna miss it, but it was better than McD's.

After I had experienced Buffalo for the first time in steak and burger form at a sit down restaurant I was curious as to what it tasted like in a drive-through setting. So, of course, I ordered Rudys' Buffalo Burger and then realized afterwards it was just a normal burger with buffalo sauce...however it was still tasty. Skipping right to DESSERT next, (which is very important) their turtle sundae (which I'm a sucker for at all ice cream places) actually is not made with caramel but with butterscotch which I thought would be way too strange (not too familiar with butterscotch in general) but was very delicious. They also have those soft serve cones you can only get at zoo's or McDonalds' anymore that are swirly (and they have the zebra flavor!) Instead of their root beer float or just a plain soda I recommend you get adventurous and try the Root Beer Cooler. it's a BLEND of root beer and ice cream! And believe me, the only thing better than that mixture is root beer flavored milk (I'm an addict, I admit it.) The last little tidbit of info you need is that their cheese curds (which are Wisconsin delicious) are white cheddar. JUMP ON THESE!

The quintessential American drive through. Young ladies on roller skates bring your food to your car. However you can also eat at one of their tables. They have amazing food but the best is their fried cheese curd.

I cannot wait for opening day again. I love Rudy's. Great Drive In. Girls on roller skates. Great food. They have your typical American fast food. Delicious Root Beer floats...mmhmm. The thought makes my mouth water.

great old time drive-in. they offer the usual as well as buffalo burgers. The root beer is brewed by the owners and the ice cream is great.
