Awesome breakfast here. Pancakes are light and very good, skillets are hearty. Always seems to be busy. We usually come for breakfast, have had lunch here twice. I ordered the Rueben both times. Nice crispy bread and hot and delicious inside. My son enjoys the beef noodle soup, he has had it twice as well. Worth a try, find your favorites!

Today was the first time I ever tried this local restaurant. I really tried to be positive and enjoy the meal. But it was not good at all. I had the 3 piece cod fish fry with creamy coleslaw,german potato salad and rye bread. The other people I was with also had the same meal. The waitress was very sweet and very attentive. We waited over 30 minutes for our food. Two of us had gotten sodas and had them drank by time food came. We were asked if we wanted refills we declined and asked for water. The third person in our group had gotten coffee and had drank numerous cups before food arrival. Immediately I noticed the potatoes used in the german potato salad were canned. The reason we all knew is the thickness and size was exact on all pieces and having used canned potatoes before we all knew. The sauce was bland and not very flavorful like german potato salad is. The coleslaw had large chunks of cabbage in it. The type you do not include when making slaw. The coleslaw was warm and had a awful fishy after taste to it. Only 1 in our party ate it as coleslaw shouldn't be warm or have fishy taste. The fish was quite small pieces that had a greasy after taste. One out of three of my pieces was all fish the other two were part fish and the rest hollow. Yeah ewwww. Another in our group went to take a piece of fish off the end of her piece and the piece literally crumbled under her fork. A sure sign fish was way over cooked. Another ewwww. We all should of complained and sent our food back. We did not because we had already waited long time for the food we got. I really wanted to like this place as it has been a local restaurant for many many years. I just never went because reviews were always iffy. But heard their breakfast is usually good. Sorry to say we won't be back to try their breakfast or any other meal as not worth the price and just not good.

Small portions, questionable ingredients, slow service., and watery coffee. Also expensive for what you're getting. Very hard to recommend for any reason.

Just keep driving and don't waste your money. A drive to look at a puppy brought me to this quaint one horse town. I felt like some home cooking diner type food so I checked the place out. The place is somewhat clean and the waitstaff is fairly nice. Let's start with soda....$2.50???? Are we in downtown Chicago or FarmVille Kewaskum? I ordered a turkey dinner, soup was decent, my turkey was dry and my baked potato, microwaved short of soft ,or fully cooked ,was dry. Back to the turkey.... One slice of dry ass turkey with no gravy or anything for $10???? The canned peas were a lovely shade of grey. My girlfriend ordered the baked cod after it was obvious that asking if they had anything gluten free was like asking for Chinese food. I don't think our waitress had ever eaten gluten... Cause she had no clue what we were asking and thought it was a meat or a vegetable? Girlfriends salad that accompanied her meal was all old and brown, wilted iceberg lettuce. Her cod would have been wonderful if it included more that 1 piece for $10. The food took forever and the place was less than half full. Our waitress never refilled or offered to refill our sodas until I asked for our check. I just was really disappointed at how bad and overpriced the food in this place really is.

This is a small and simple little restaurant. Nothing fancy, just a country diner type of environment. I've been there a few times, and everything is pretty consistent, from food to service. I ordered a turkey club with french fries. I was craving a turkey club, but there was not one on the menu. I asked the waitress if one could be made and she said that she was sure it could be done. The only reason that I'm even mentioning this is because I've had plenty of experiences at other restaurants where they refused to deviate one bit from the menu. But, that was not the case at this restaurant. When the sandwich came out, it was not quite a club style sandwich (3 pieces of bread, two layers turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato), however it tasted decent. The best thing about this restaurant is the dessert. All of the desserts are homemade, and are different every time I go. I love cake, pie, etc. I have never had a bad, or even mediocre dessert there. One of the best desserts is something that the owner makes herself. It is an apple crisp type of thing. If you happen to go on a day that they have apple crisp, you must request it warmed up with a scoop of ice cream. YUMMY!!!

We used Gateway Cafe and Catering for a 50th anniversary party for my parents this past weekend. The food was fantastic! We had many compliments. Everything was delivered to our party in West Bend. The portions were extremely generous. The price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend them!
