I'm from AZ and this was better than even some Mexican restaurants in Phoenix. The service was excellent, the food amazing and the portions HUGE! Such a fantastic find for driving around Kenosha and craving some delicious Mexican food.

Chips and salsa amazing. Flautas great! Guacamole awesome!!! Some of the best I've ever had. And the waiter taught us a cool tip on how to keep the extra guacamole longer with some sliced limes. Highly recommend this place!

This place opened fairly recent and no one comes here. The old bakery had a lot of space. The service is great. The food is fantastic. The chicken tacos were made to perfection. Probably my best to date today, on Cinco De Mayo. My parents also frequent here and they were the ones who recommended this awesome place.

Food is good. Real home cooking. It's not in big presentation or pizzaz, thoug the place is clean. I asked for mole with the enchilada on my tampiquena plate and was told a flat out emphatic "no", which took me a bit aback. THough in hindsight I am not sure the waitress/owner understood me - I'll give her the benefit of the doubt at this point. My skirt stek was good, though thin and a bit overdone. My wife's corn taco shells were SUPER oily. We had to get another warmer of flour shells and transfer the ingredients to avert a lunch disaster. Someone mentioned in another review that it's as good as the Mexican food in AZ. I suppose that's true of some places, but not the Mexican places I like in Phoenix. It's decent, respectable, but not top notch. For WI it's not bad. For Kenosha it's good. Compared to the places in IL and AZ I know nd love, it falls a bit short. Still, good though and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Do your tastebuds a favor and stop by La Fe Cafe! It is a straight shot and about ten minutes off I94. First time here, and I will make sure I visit again when I am in the area. Best enchalatas I have ever had!

When this place opened I couldn't wait to try it. There are very few Mexican restaurants I like in kenosha, but this definitely turned out to be one! My burrito was inexpensive, but HUGE! the steak in it was so good, and I even stole some of my fiance ' s chorizo which was very delicious as well!

After reading all the great reviews I was eager to try it out-big mistake. My family of 6 order a different plate each to share and were all a big disappointment. The beef milanesa had a weird taste to it, almost like the meat was close to going bad. The queso fundido was so oily and came with no tortillas. The enchiladas potosinas were just bad period. The "fresh horchata " was actually a bad artificial pre-mixture. The shredded beef was super dry and flavorless. Only good thing of restaurant was the cleanliness and brightness of place.

If you want chilaquiles then you must come here. The other breakfast dishes are amazing as well so I highly recommend this as a great brunch spot. We did try one taco and it was ok, I have had better. The service was great and the price was spot on. I wish I lived closer and could come every weekend!

Le Fe Cafe is a gem! For years I've gone to Tacos El Rey or Tacos El Norte, but this place takes the cake for delicious, authentic Mexican food. Their ingredients are fresh, the staff very friendly, and the place is always nice and clean. I've tried several different dishes (i.e. steak tacos, enchiladas, burritos) and have enjoyed them all. The salsa is wonderfully-spicy and they've got some of the best refried beans around. They're even open for breakfast! Please give this place a try! You won't be disappointed.

Food was great. Dinner for two under $30. Husband tried Potosino, I tried skirt steak with a cheese enchilada, Shells and salsa were great! We will be back. They need to work on service a bit.

This place is amazing! Best Mexican food in the racine/Kenosha area! I had the enchilada dinner and it was cheesy and hot just like I like it, and my girlfriend had this big oversized chimichanga she couldn't even finish it. The salsa is very spicy and the chips are homemade, and the horchata is the best horchata I have ever had. I loved this place so much I came back two days later! I got the fiesta Mexicana plate which comes with 1taco, 1 tostada, 1 enchilada, and one burrito, and my girlfriend got the 3 taco plate. Soo good! To top it off we got the Churros with ice cream for desert, so Goood! I can't get enough of it, come here you won't regret it!

We finally tried this after many favorable suggestions from friends and coworkers. Simply put, FANTASTIC food, good service, and quite comfy. This is so far the best Mexican type food we've had in Kenosha. A little hard to figure out parking, there is plenty behind the restaurant off the busy street. Everything is homemade, guac, corn tortillas, salsa. LOVE IT!

Im glad we found this little gem if you weren't really looking for it you might miss it but you would be sad if you did. After moving to kenosha about a year ago my little brown heart was broken time and time again by mediocre / taco bell type mexican food. Dang can a girl get a decent taco?!? And then I found this place on accident. Best wrong turn EVER!!! LOL Im slowly making my way through the menu and everything has been good. The carne asada, enchiladas verdes, tacos, tortas, burritos, menudo & caldo de res all were yummy!!! Nom nom nom... the waitstaff is polite and theres a kid that works there (i think hes the nephew) whos pretty funny and attentive. All in all this is a good family owned restaurant worth the trip. This place reminds me of a grandmas kitchen the food it hot but jummy and the ladys working there always have a smile on thier face :)

Had to try it since my wife and I love Mexican just about any night of the week, and it is very close to home. The chips are more like Fritos, which I'm not a fan of, but the salsa is great. I read that they serve two or three kinds, but we were only given the red sauce, which also has a pretty good kick. The menu is large, and pretty diverse. (They also have a breakfast section) - There are house favs, main entrees, seafood, many types of enchiladas and tacos, and and appetizers. My wife chose the Migadas which is fresh corn masa served with your choice of meat, and she added cheese. The pork in the dish was phenomenal . I had the gorditas with chicken, which was also stellar. And yes, the shredded cabbage/lime, cilantro/tomato salad is delicious and refreshing. Would eat here again in a heart beat, and probably will be back every other week for the rest of the year, considering it's proximity to the south side of Kenosha and the great prices. Muy, muy bien!

Service incredibly friendly. The chicken mole was good, but there are other better places to get it in town. The tacos were average with the exception of the steak taco which comes with guac on it - super tasty. I want to support small/local business, but honestly this place is good, not great. And there are a lot of other options for mexican in the area that I prefer over the food at this place.

Went there last night. Had the carnitas with corn tortillas. Nice place. Fair prices. Food is very good and the service was snappy. They give you chips and three salsas when you sit down, and all three dips were pretty hot, so be ready. Highly recommended.

Wow, so impressed by this new spot. Mexican food is my favorite (!) and Kenosha has a few reliable places already but the food here has blown them all out of the water for me. La Fe Cafe has authentic mexican food, and everything is prepared from scratch. The chips and salsa are as you would expect but the salsas (red and a green) actually have some kick to it for a change! I ordered the Potosinas, red corn tortillas rolled with beans and cheese and topped with carrots, potatoes, and chorizo. I have never had this dish before but it was remarkably tasty. Here is where La Fe stands above the competition: My entree was served with refried beans and a fresh cabbage salad. The beans here, thoug, are super fresh tasting and you can tell they are made in house - super delicious! Im not usually a fan of cabbage but it was sliced very thin and tossed with fresh tomatoes and lime juice so it was very crisp and refreshing and went together very well with the amazing beans and potosinas. The prices seemed very reasonable and the menu looks to offer authentic mexican specialties in addition to the usual suspects on all the other mexican restaurants' menus in the area. The husband and wife who own the cafe are very nice and hospitable. You might miss it if you drive by as it is a small space that used to be a bakery, but they have done a good job brightening it up. The decor is much more simple than that of a place like La Fogata, but the food and prices are way better in my opinion. Lucky for me, I live just a block away so I look forward to supporting this restaurant by visiting frequently! They are open from 8am to 9pm everyday so I think ill have to try their breakfast sometime!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
