Yes, Fuddruckers is kinda cheesy and corny and feel's 80's but it's fun! Very good burger, though needed seasoning. on a butter griddled bun. You are then free to choose your free toppings as needed from there toppings "buffet" which has leaf lettuce, sliced or chopped tomatoes, sliced or chopped white onions, chopped iceberg, relish, salsa, pickles, jalapenos, banana peppers, and that's all I think. Then your choices for condiments are ketchup, 3 kinds of mustard, mayo, bbq sauce, and cheese sauce. So there are plenty of combos - according to my math that's about 77 different combos. Service was super friendly and enthusiastic. My only real complaint is that that they don't have standard thin fries - they have wedges. So for that reason and to make better choices, I got the salad but is came with shredded cheese - bleh!

Really impressed with the ladies restrooms. Has a fireplace! A light switch that notifies mgmt if the restroom needs attention(every bathroom sd have this) it didn't need attention! Anyway the burgers were great! The service was great!

FUDDRUCKERS! Wow, who knew that the burgers at this fast food place were so delicious. I like that when you walk in they have a glass case showing you the burger sizes (the actual meat patties). They also have Buffalo and Veggie patties. I like to keep my burgers simple - I ordered the 1/3 lb patty (smallest) classic style - meaning plain and you can dress it up at the beautiful bar with thin sliced tomatoes, sliced and chopped onion, jalapenos, peppercinnies, salsa, lettuce, pickles.......everything was fresh and well presented. Around the corner are the condiments, BBQ sauces, mustard's (yellow, spicy, honey mustard) ketchup and others.... I dressed my burger and it was delicious. The meat was really well seasoned. I was SURPRISED at how good this burger was. My husband had the Veggie burger and onion rings (the rings were really good) and he LOVED his burger. The entire time we were eating we were commenting on how good it was!

Good burgers. Excellent. They make their buns fresh and the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pico de gallo, pickles are very fresh. Shakes are superb (FYI: strawberry has real strawberries in it). French fries are good. The staff is nice and helpful. I wish they would remove dirty dishes though. Table stacked up with stuff. Drink cups are kinda small. Bathroom was dirty.

We stopped in about a month ago expecting table service and a n excellent burger like we used to get years ago. Boy, has this place changed for the worse. You now have to stand in line for a mediocre burger and so-so fries. Whoopie, they have bison burgers (very, very dry. I've had excellent bison burgers elsewhere). We both ordered our choice of burger and fries and I asked for an order of cheese curds. If it wasn't my second ever cheese curd experience, I might never eat them again anywhere. The fry guy forgot them and left them in the oil for about 10 minutes. No apology, and he still served them to me. The cheese had completely melted out of the coating so I had a basket of cheese curd shells. You also have to dress your burger at their fixings bar (so 1980's Wendy's) after waiting too long for you burgers. 15 minutes in a mostly empty restaurant is ridiculous. Basically, you get mediocre counter-service food at sit-down prices and horrible service. We won't be going back. Ever.

Walking into this place you can't help but feel a little overwhelmed. The décor is meant to show a slice of Americana music (I think?) but it's so dated and overstated that you really feel like they're selling antiques, not hamburgers. Having said all that they do serve burgers and shakes and they are really, really good. The 1/2 pound inferno burger came with a slew of fixings, but the self-serve topping bar is too hard to pass up. The end result was a burger that I could hardly fit in my mouth. It was definitely spicy and about as good as advertised, though to be fair world's best hamburger is a difficult moniker to live up to. The cookies n cream shake was nothing to scoff at. Oh, and sweet potato fries on fleek.

levels above other chain burger places. Custom sized burgers, both beef and different kinds of game. Doneness is pretty close, and you can dress your own cheesy fries.

I haven't been in a FR in about 20 years. I will wait about that long for my next visit. I had the 1/2 lb burger with avocado and cheese. I know that you can fix um the way you want to. But.... I thought it was just another over priced sloppy burger. A waiter came by with a post it and he wrote his name on it???? We do everything, pick-up and condiments. And this nut job is looking for a tip. So we left him one! Stop talking about spaceships and martians. He was quite annoying talking to the customers in back of us, telling them he would never sleep if he didn't have to. I wouldn't pay if I didn't have to. Good by to this self-serve nut house!

I love going to Fuddruckers with the family! They have a tasty burger that doesn't leave us hungry in 2 hours, a great fresh topping bar, and the standard mustard, ketchup and BBQ sauce.

I am going to give this place 5 stars just for doing some things that most restaurants don't think is even important. Everything was clean in this place. Number one in importance but just this week I have seen filthy windows, sticky tables, dirty floors and vents, spoiled lettuce and disgusting bathrooms but not at this place. What a pleasant experience. Someone here actually knows what they are doing. The food is displayed up front. The selection is simple and straightforward with just enough selection, the staff was pleasant and helpful, the delivery of our food was nicely done and there was real care taken in putting it together. There is a fixin's bar for your burger and everything was beautiful, fresh and appetizing. They also have a dessert bar for bakery and shakes and icecream. Just a really nice place that isn't sloppy like so many other places think is just fine. Oh and the food was very good too. Tons of onions. Thanks Fuddruckers. You restore my faith in the hope that there are still people out there that know how to clean.

I have never been to this establishment before, until just recent, and all i can say is IM GOING BACK! It was super tasty! I kept my order original and less exotic with the 1/3 lb burger, little pink in the middle, and American cheese. Then proceeded to top it off with lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes at the condiment bar. The soft buns are amazing and compliment the meal fantastically as well as the fries. Upon reviewing their menu i enquired as to the elk and boar meat and the staff was more than helpful as to describing the texture and the flavor of the meal. I would highly recommend this to a friend! Side Note: Bathrooms were clean and very cool with all the old photos of elvis. I hear that the ladies restroom had a fireplace in it.

If this review is a little pointed it's because I'm a tad queasy as I write it . We have been driving by Fuddruckers for years here in the Jvl and tonight we were persuaded to finally try it. Our decision being based upon a combination of looking for a quick, cheaper meal and being otherwise noncommittal in deciding where we wanted to go. Since I'm trying to be even-handed here in my first-ever Yelp review I'll say that the place was packed. It was very busy as it usually is when we drive by. We stood in line with everyone else when we walked in, both of us generally in good moods looking forward to trying something new. The decor is great in the front entrance, albeit not appropriate for anyone having any type of sensory issues. For me to describe it politely I would have to say "it's busy" and I'll add that it's not a place where I would take a child under the age of eighty. The menu is fair as far as selection is concerned and the young lady who took our order was very polite and cheerful. My first whiff that something was amiss was that an order of nachos, two burgers, and soft drinks (no alcohol) was close to fifty bucks. After ordering, we looked for a seat and took one near the bathrooms and their jumble of video games. It's a big-enough place but their vast array of hipster decorations and poorly designed seating left us little choice. After sitting down, before which I had moved the table back to avoid colliding with the young lady sitting behind me, I began to take a more in-depth look around. There are a lot of spider-webs and dust on all of the "pieces of flair" on the walls and ceilings. The carpet and walls are pockmarked and worn and the place could use a cleaning or two. While I did finally see a busser-person moving around, he was one of the numerous 16yo staff members that were there dressed in costume (it's near Christmas as I write this). I'm not knocking young workers, but there was absolutely no adult supervision and the kids working there weren't actually doing anything but goofing around quite obviously and noisily. When our name was finally called for our food, we walked up to the counter and asked the young man who was there which burger was which, as they were similar orders but not the same. He hesitated for a bit, then abruptly said "the one on the left is the xxxx" and then turned back to his important text-messaging conversation. We dutifully carried our trays back to our table through the maze of decor and disgruntled customers and then carried our burgers back to the "toppings bar." One should be sure to note the sign that declares how "fresh" everthing is supposed to be. While the toppings bar has a wide selection up to and including both sauerkraut and banana pepper rings, it can not be described as being anything close to "fresh" by any human living in the age of refrigeration and food safety standards. We dutifully piled on the toppings, and then attempted to find appropriate sauces among their wide selection of appropriate sauce dispensers filled with both air and the memories of the sauces once held by them long ago. When we returned to our table, we began to eat. The nachos had an ok flavor, but were obviously made with convienience-store quality chips that had been left past their prime and off-brand processed cheese-like food product. The burgers were... inedible. Mine was rancid. There is no other way to describe it. It was spoiled beef topped with some very tasty bacon and a quality whole-weat bun. Her burger was of similar quality. We had two bites and decided to leave. The fries were good though. Since we couldn't actually eat what we ordered due to health concerns, we looked for a potential manager type person to ask for a portion of our $50 back. Finding no staff other than teenagers wearing elf costumes and looking disgruntled, we left, never to return. There are a lot of quality restaurants in Janesville. This is not one of them. There is a nice travel mart next door, so if you're stopping by off of the interstate and are looking for something to eat I recommend that over Fuddruckers. However, judging by the fact that this place was absolutely packed tonight and is amost always busy, I'm open to the prospect that maybe I'm the one with the problem here... however I find that prospect unlikely

Not bad, more of a 3.5.. I didn't know that this chain was still open. Was searching for a place and something different so we ended up here. Nice young lady greeted us and took our order. Ordered the 1/3 Works burger with mushrooms and bacon and rings. Mushrooms weren't fresh, canned but alright. J ordered the Turkey Inferno burger w/ fries. Burgers are quite hearty. The condiment bar is a nice touch with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, banana peppers, jalapenos etc. This place was alright. Pretty theme-y with the nostalgia. The bathroom was the most impressive. At least the women's. This caught me by surprise and a few other people. The bathroom had a faux fireplace in it, along with a cozy little sitting area. Not something I would think I would ever find at a Fuddrucker's. Would probably hit Red Robin next time if looking for a quick burger, but this place was alright and hit the spot.

Excellent burger in a rather unique serve yourself atmosphere. You pick up the burger and fries and dress it from a salad bar like fortress of condiments and typical burger dressings that ranged from sliced to diced onion, Romanine lettuce, pickle relish, dill pickles (some sweet ones would be a nice addition). Seating is something you accomplish on your own and one of our party is wheelchair bound. They found entry, ordering, dining and getting extras to be very easy and would return for that reason, in addition to a good quality burger available in a number of sizes and fresh from the butcher. The buns had a concentrated seed pattern, in other words the sesame seeds were in a small pile in the center of the top piece. Unless you are a professional baker you wouldn't notice, but anyone employed by McDonalds would. All in all, a fun experience, lively atmosphere.

I feel as though this restaurant would be great in the 80's, Burger wasn't bad, but not good enough for a return visit. Hefty bill also. I think next time I want a burger... I'll just grill one at home.

I have never been to a dine-in burger place where you can add on as many toppings as you wanted. Every time we came here, our burgers were cooked just how we wanted. They have a lot of condiments that you can put on your burger, my boyfriend enjoyed the hot cheese. The price is a little hefty for a burger, but I think it's worth it.

If you have ever said "Hey! We have never been to Fuddruckers in Janesville. Let's go check it out!", do yourself a favor and keep driving. I am writing this review from my toilet. In the other bathroom my boyfriend is also sick. I am dead serious. A buffalo combo, a 1/2lb Works combo, and an order of nachos was $40.02. Yep. And now we have eaten little to no dinner due to the rancid tasting meat and the cold nachos plus we are sick. I could've purchased a box of ex-lax for probably $6 and saved myself $34. Upon entry the atmosphere was busy. The longer we sat there the more I felt like a seizure was coming on due to the crap hanging all over and the hoards of people running into each other like bumper cars. The price of the food was surprising but we were still hopeful. The fries were okay. The nacho chips were stale and the entire dish was lukewarm to cool. But the burgers were the best part. At the pick up counter the very angsty looking young man had not marked which burger was beef and which was buffalo. Since we both got them with the works we had to ask. He said "ummm. the one on the left." SUPER! However we soon came to discover that we did not think he was correct. We switched burgers and my boyfriends burger almost made me spit it out immediately. We sat it aside and I went to grab a knife to halve the one burger which may be safe. The knife was dirty. Like FILTHY dirty. We left immediately. Never said a word to management because the one guy working who looked like he may have been a manager was incredibly unkept and dirty looking. We simply will never return to Fuddruckers. I prayed the entire drive home that I wouldn't crap my pants. I was pretty sure it was gonna happen. So, if you need a filthy but great laxative with a side of seizure then Fuddruckers is the place for you!

Fudd's is great! Lots of burger choices including hamburger, buffalo, wild boar, and elk (which is very lean and savory, as advertised). They also have Chix sandwiches and JUMBO hot dogs which are almost disgustingly too big. Prices are a little high but the food is a nice treat once in awhile. Once your food is prepared, you can go through the burger bar to pick from a selection of toppings e.g onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, salsa, etc. And they also have a desert section with cookies, shakes, and ice cream available for purchase. Tips: wheat buns available by request. Cheese for burgers is an additional charge, however, their cheese sauce is the bomb and it is available on the burger bar for FREE! Alcoholic beverages are also served here.

Left hockey game today hungry and ready to eat. We got off on exit 171 in Janesville. There we found Fuddruckers "best burgers in the world" I ordered the elk burger at 9 dollars and some odd cents plus $1 for onion plus $1 for cheese(I was waiting for them to charge me for the plate and the seat to sit in. My wife ordered the fish and chips. My son ordered the cheeseburger. All came with fries or large wedge cut slabs of potato that were delicious and hot, but for the $50.00 bill for 3 I will be driving past next time. I have had a cost control class and for what we received for food and a couple of fountain pops we got taken by the "worlds greatest scam" Your food costs aren't that high if so find some other ways of cutting cost for the customers. Might help cutting the staff you have on hand never seen so many people to be a self serve restaurant. Burger was good but not that good.

"What does that sign say? ...Does that say Fuddruckers? Is it Fuddruckers?! IT'S FUDDRUCKERS!!!" That was the level of excitement in the car last weekend when 4 hungry meat eaters found a Fuddruckers on the way to Cascade Mtn! This is after a mad flurry of phone googling and texting to figure out where the heck it was! Oh wow. Talk about satisfying your craving for a burger! This place is Burger Heaven! Me and my fellow yelper Vivian Y., along with our men, indulged in some serious burger gluttony at Fuddruckers. First of all, I LOVE that you can get a beer with your burger combo! Awesome! They have several different burger sizes, from a 1/3 lb all the way up to a giant 1 lb burger! They also have buffalo burgers. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach, so I ordered a 1/2 lb burger, but really I could have been quite satisfied with a 1/3 lb. I ordered mine cooked medium rare, and it was a bit overdone, but it was still pretty juicy. Whatever you do, get some bacon on your burger, it is nice and crisp. You can get your burger made to order, or choose from some of their combinations--I ordered "The Works" which is American cheese, bacon and sauteed mushrooms. YUM, even though a few bites of mushroom were too salty, I think they were a bit over-seasoned. My man's cracked peppercorn burger with horseradish cheese looked amazing as well! Tom's right, the buns are super good. I LOVE the fries here--yummy seasoned wedge fries! The onion rings are also tasty. Instead of ordering a beer, I couldn't resist a mocha milkshake to go with my burger. While it was good, topped with whipped cream and a cherry, and I love how they give you the metal cup for a 2nd helping of milkshake, it wasn't much to write home about. I wish they had a Fuddruckers in the city of Chicago! I wouldn't mind a trek to the 'burbs for the occasional visit. It'll be a "must" the next time I find myself going to WI!

This was the first Fuddruckers I've been to and I was definitely surprised. The burger was really good. Better than any chain burger I've ever had...I think I even prefer to it 5 Guys. The decor is a little over the top but not annoying like Red Robin. Speaking of, these burgers are lightyears better than RR.

This is a typical sit down chain restaurant except that you order at the counter and then go pick it up when they call your name, so no wait staff and therefore no tipping. The prices are not that much more in light of that. The food is good, but not great. They also have shakes which are pretty good. Overall this is a decent restaurant and the decor is fun. This is a great place to take small kids. Recent visit on August 15, 2013 - Overall had a good experience. Does not change my three star rating. I had the 1/2 pound Hangover Burger and it was pretty good. Better than some of the past burgers I have had. I guess any time you add bacon and an egg to a burger it makes it that much better. The fries are still average as the seasoning on the fries is either way too much or not enough. This time I got a good helping of fries on the side but other times I have had small portions. It seems that depending who is on the fry station determines the amount one gets. The service was much better as this time one of the employees came to our table introduced herself and told us she would be happy to get us whatever we needed. This is different than every other time I have gone and you go do everything yourself. As well, when we were done she asked if we wanted to go cups for our soft drinks and so the customer service is improving. Also, the outside of the building was getting a fresh coat of paint and looks to be in the process of an update. However, as we were leaving we noticed that the painters didn't cover up the plants well and now there are red painted bushes (this is more humorous to me than a reason not to go). My son gets a cookie with his meal and the cookies are the highlight of his meal every time, but lets be honest a cookie is always the star of the meal for a kid. As well, we spent a few extra bucks to let him play some of the video games that are in the back corner. This is a great idea when you are targeting families as your customers. As kids wait for their food they can go play and mom & dad have less wrangling to do. On the economic side it makes someone money. This last experience didn't cause me to rethink my 3 star rating but if the restaurant continues to make positive changes it could become a 4 star. What would make it a 4 star is to update the interior decor and to really make the fries better and more consistent in the serving size.

My husband loves Fuddruckers. We visit Fuddruckers at least once a month. I've tried just about everything on the menu, literally. I have to say, my favorite item on the menu would be the Veggie Burger. Like any veggie burger, the worse part is the texture, but once you get passed that it's worth it. I would give this 5 stars if they were more affordable. My husband always end up spending $25-$30 here. Maybe that because of their delicious Bakery you are forced to pass on your way out. =)

This is another burger joint that people talk up about how great the burgers are, only for me to be let down again. I was there Saturday night with some friends of mine. One is a hug Fuddruckers fan and convinced all of us to stop in. The menu was large and it had a lot of interesting things on it, but it was very similar to a lot of the other burger joints I've visited. The most interesting thing on the menu was that they had buffalo, elk, wild boar and ostrich burgers. Although they where out of ostrich the night we were there. I ended up getting a Buffalo burger. I take it over to the Produce/toppings bar. What ever you call it. The vegetables there seemed fresh enough. Lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles, peppers, etc. All the stuff you would want to put on a burger. They also have free nacho cheese, so if you get fries and want to cover them in liquid cheese, you can. You do have to pay extra to have normal cheese put on your burger. The burger, well it was that, a burger. I've had buffalo before. There was absolutely nothing special about this style of buffalo burger. It was cooked just like all the others I've had in the past and there was no special seasoning or flavor to it that made it stand out. Was it good? yes. Was it great? no.

The food was ok. In their defense they were super busy. They were out of a lot of things and it was a stressful atmosphere to us. Only laid back people should eat here.

If you're driving through Wisconsin and suddenly realize that you've never been to Fuddruckers in your life, try to convince yourself that it's probably not meant to be. God's will, if you will. If that will isn't strong enough you will find yourself in line at Fuddruckers trying to figure out the appeal of making your burger, visiting the "produce bar" and sampling the watered down "cheese" sauce. Yes they have turkey burgers (pretty sure they didn't when I was a wee one) but so do most places that will build these things for me. Add on a couple steak fries fresh from the deep freezer, a 75 cent slice of cheese and your choice of pop (or domestic beer) and you've got yourself a meal that is sure to leave you thinking, what the fudd? seriously.

    (1)
  • Liza P.

Supa good! We like the food here--the steak sandwich is great! It is also good for kids, because it is fairly noisy, so if your kids are a little noisy or messy, you don't get evil stares from all the diners around you. The employees are super polite here. Lots of space, the tables are good-sized.
