We decided to go to Charcoal Grill for an early supper tonight. The wait staff was fantastic, attentive and quick. Our food however was very disappointing. My mother ordered a medium well hamburger. This seemed like a simple order. When the burger arrived, it was literally fried to death. It had a very hard burned exterior followed by a dry light gray interior. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. When it arrived it was a soggy mess. I couldn't even eat it. I spoke up and told the server about the issues. They were quick to offer replacements..However we declined. The manager was nice enough to remove the items from our bill. I apologized to our wait staff for the complaint. It was clear that the kitchen dropped the ball. No sense in beating up the front of the house for a kitchen issue. I tipped the wait staff 80% of the bill. At this point, I'm not sure if I would ever return

Have gone out to eat pizza at many establishments; Charcoal Grill's pizza is very delicious. Never had a bad pizza yet! Service is friendly, nice and attentive. We will continue to come back.

We were heading to Costco with a friend Friday and decided to stop at this Charcoal Grill just two blocks away for lunch. With it being Friday, it would be interesting to see what Fish Fry specials they would be offering. Pulling into the parking lot just a few lanes from the main entrance, we were surrounded by the sweet smell of hickory in the air. Steps later we were greeted and led to our table in the surprisingly large restaurant, almost big enough to get lost in. Joy was to be our server and welcomed us with large water glasses with lemon and told us about the Friday Fish Fry specials. Not being a fish eater, I had to take a few minutes to study the lengthy menu. As "first-timers" we were impressed with the number of selections. If you can't find something on this menu, then good-luck I first thought. Martie ordered the Baked Tilapia ($12.99) and my wife the Claim Dinner ($12.99). Each came with soup or salad and two side dishes. I ordered their specialty, Rotisserie Chicken ($8.99), all white meat. It too came with soup or salad and two sides. The ladies were well satisfied when Joy brought their meals, each presented on over-sized square plates and completely filled with food. Both remarked the meals were as good as they looked but Martie's Tilapia serving was skimpy at best. As for me, my combined 1/4 chicken breast and wing were not only tiny together, but insulting to serve. If not for our dear guest, I would have said something which I am now doing. Charging an extra $2 for white meat was an added insult. I know you may say I should have spoken up, but it will be hard to ever get me back to any Charcoal Grill again!

Generally, I/We've enjoyed eating there, and it's relatively kid friendly. I must tell you though that their BBQ Chicken sandwich is a joke. It's basically a McDonalds quality bun with a piece of boneless chicken and some bbq sauce on it. No lettuce, tomato, or anything else on it. Super super weak. Tasted fine when I added my cole slaw side to it, but that sandwich is NOT an $8 sandwich. The kids cheese pizza was basically school cafeteria quality. Other times have been fine. Not great food, good enough service. If you want an OK experience, go there.

The restaurant is great. Clean and comfortable. The wait staff is friendly, could be a little more efficient. The food was awful. I ordered a large meal salad and was given 2 oz. of salad dressing! When I asked for extra, I was told I would have to pay for it! The whole salad was warm, nothing was cold or crisp. My friends burger came on a large white plate with 6 onion rings, nothing else. We are not coming back.

Made a pit stop at this local gem. Everyone ordered different things from salad to burger to smoked or rotisserie stuff. Very delish was pleasantly surprised. Staff was speedy and accurate and food was pretty quick. We liked it so much we even made our at home pit stop this place. Again everyone had different things. Pizza was good sauce maybe could be a tad tastier but that's coming from a Chicago pizza buff. Great place and great staff.

I came out to enjoy lunch with my son. The waitress was nice but when we got our food there was a hair on it. Not sure when she would return I found her and told her I found a hair on my plate. She stated she was glad it wasn't hers either. I'm not sure who's hair it was but it saddens me that I came out to enjoy lunch and we couldn't eat together. The second plate came out looking different from the first, more slapped together. They also didn't put bacon on my second burger. I get things happen but if one order came back I would make dang sure the second was perfect. I asked to speak to a manager and he comped my meal. I will return to charcoal grill because clearly they care for their customers and corrected the issue.

In my opinion a review starts when you walk in the front door. If the place is dirty or you have bad host before you sit at your table that starts to ruin the entire experience. This Charcoal Grill was not dirty, very nice place. But when we were greeted, it was very unenthusiastic. Fine. Then, I was asked if a booth was ok. I replied I don't care for booths and preferred a table. Then this "Connie" or "Carrie" perhaps came in to take over for the inexperienced young gentlemen that was trying to host. She let me know they had no tables available and we would have to choose from a booth or a "high top" table in the bar area. Normally a High Top wouldn't be a big deal but my wife is pregnant and this isn't a good ption right now. CONNIE preferred we leave and find somewhere else to eat. But that didn't sit with me and I was sure the manager would want to serve us. I asked, he came out.. and had more options of course. We opted for a normal table outdoors. Perfect! Well until the bees came out in force, but that certainly was not their fault. We ended up at a high top after all.. Food.. not bad. Not great. Potatoes with peppers and onions were terrific. So good in fact I was surprised by the canned dog food they called corn beef hash. Was expecting homeade. Biscuits and Gravy, ham, sausage.. pretty good. 6 or 7 on a scale to 10. French toast, mushy like most other buffets. My wife thought the pancakes were really good. Fresh whip cream was nice too! If you choose to visit this place just demand good service. The manager was accommodating but obviously has a tough time getting good help, like a lot of places. Christine was a good waitress, attentive and pleasant. But the walk through the front door to be greeted by inept hosts was not acceptable so the place gets a 2 star.

Worst experience in my life. We should have left and not paid. I can't believe they still gave us a bill after waiting an hour and a half because they forgot to put our order in. Then they gave my boyfriend his meal and by the time they gave me mine he was done eating and my order was wrong so I returned it and ate nothing. In the hour and a half that we were waiting no one came to refill my soda or explain what was taking so long. We only knew because we overheard them yelling at our first waiter. Never will go here again. Zero stars.

Located over by the Home Depot and Target in Grafton, this place was a good addition to the area a few years back. I have been here around a dozen times as I used to work close to hear and really hit this place up a ton when it first opened. They have a huge bar that wraps all the way around and a decent beer selection. The place has a national chain type feel when you walk in. The service was always decent, especially during the workweek for lunch. The food really falls flat for me here since it seems to be pumped out like crazy and no thought or quality put in it. Overall, if you need somewhere to quick bite to eat and want to try out a new place, check it out, otherwise I would head to a different place.

Charcoal grill is no where close to where I live in Whitefish Bay WI so it's a bit of a drive. We don't come often but when we do it's always a stuffing meal. Their pizzas are really good if you like a lot of cheese. The cheese is stringy and yummy. If you get a pizza with basil on it you have a choice of fresh basil or just from a spice container but you have to ask. The weight staff unfortunately every time we come is rude and don't seem like they want to be there. You have to ask for refills or flag them down for something. There's an extra charge for any type of sauce you want which is a little ridiculous when you order something that usually requires sauce such as my chicken sandwhich. Also they box your food at the table which is a little uncomfortable, at that point I could do it myself. Definitely a decent meal though.

Good service, great atmosphere, location, and smells coming from this place! The food is pretty anemic however (think Applebee's- great appetizers, questionable low-quality entrees) If they could up the quality of the food it would be a frequent stop.

Tried the burger deal for the first, and last time ever going there. The Cooks there need more training. Burger temps are not a hard thing to get right. I ordered a medium burger got a well cooked dry hockey puck on a fake brioche' bun.I wanted saute'd onions none to be found. We had to get up,and get plates for burger toppings I should not have to carry my large plate up like a prision tray. The floors are greasy enough to skate on.The servers seem like they are under paid, and hate being there. The waffle fries were soggy. Lazy cooks poor service, and crap food god bless corporate restaurants. Just greasy spoons. I will give my business to the mom and pop places in town, and near they deserve it more !

Service was very good, our waitress was very quick with checking in on is and bringing us our food. Our water cup was dirty, looked like it was never washed. There was also something in the soup we ordered, looked like string or something. The entree also came with grilled veggies, which consisted of a large carrot cut in slices. I would not recommend this place.

Big portions. Huge fan of the chicken dumpling soup. Weekends can get crowded. Consistent good food and service.

Stopped here for lunch. Good prices on the entrees. High prices on the desserts. Some terrific deals on some days for chicken or sirloin steak. Something like 5 or 6 bucks. Looks like a great deal. Everyone in our party enjoyed their entree. They grind their own beef and the beef on my burger did taste very good. The burger itself didn't wow me. Just sort of ok and I would have liked a larger portion of beef on my sandwich. Sweet potato fries were excellent and of a large proportion. We ordered dessert and were disappointed with the size of serving for the price. 5.50 on some and 6.00 on others. Some very small slivers of dessert that looked much better than they tasted. Plenty of room for seating. Nice and clean all around. So go for the entrees and skip the dessert. Good and friendly service from our server.

All in all, the times visited, usually on Sunday brunch, food is usually pretty good , they definitely do chicken well in my opinion.

I've gone to this spot twice and received poor service both times. I really want to like this place but I just cannot when I'm not great when we experienced what we did both times. Both times when we walked into Charcoal Grill we weren't greeted for 5 minutes. The first time we sat down and waited for a hostess. We saw open booths/tables but we waited because the sign stated to. Once we were seated we waited 15 minutes and no one came to greet us at the table, no water, nothing. We had 3 waitresses walk past our table each time and not once did they stop and ask if our server had come to see us. At this point we had waited 20 minutes and hadn't even had a server. We decided to leave and no one said a word while we got up and walked up. The 2nd time (probably 2 months later) we returned and I told my girlfriend that I'll give this place a 2nd shot but if they fail again I would never eat at Charcoal Grill again. We walked in the 2nd time and there were 2 young hostesses. We looked at them but only one greeted us (the one that was not behind the podium). We told her table for 2 please. She looked at her co-hostess and she was busy mumbling to herself about how everyone is yelling at her and she doesn't have time to do this. After I jokingly said, 'Well don't worry, we won't yell at you' she gave us a buzzer to wait. We looked around after receiving it and noticed that 1/2 the restaurant was open and no one else was waiting for a table. This was a Saturday evening around 830pm so it was a later dinner. The majority of people in the restaurant had PGA Tour gear on as they must have been coming back this way from the PGA Championship in Kohler Wisconsin earlier that day. After about 10 minutes of waiting the co-hostess came over and said, you can come this way and asked that we just hand her the buzzer back. (It never buzzed). The hostess who didn't make eye contact with us and was clearly upset about something never said a word to us besides 'here's a buzzer'. Her name was Sydney. Once we sat down our waitress was actually very kind and nice. The service wasn't the best but she was cheerful at least. The food was decent but in the middle of our meal we noticed there was water dripping next to our table. We looked up and saw it was coming from the air vents. Shortly after the table next to us who was just seated got up and told their waitress they were moving because they were also being dripped on. Looking around all the air vents were dripping water (this was a 90 degree humid day) but the vents looked moldy (orangish/brown) and as we walked out of the restaurant we noticed there were clear puddles on the floor in there where each vent was in the ceiling. Overall the experience was very poor and I think the environment is very cool so I was disappointed to say the least. I will not be visiting Charcoal Grill anytime soon and I would highly recommend not going to this restaurant. I would suggest going across the street to Noodles & Co.

Food was fine, but there has been a noticeable decline in the food quality. Another noticeable decline is the service! Absolutely horrible. We waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come for drinks and it was NOT busy! She barely looked at us and was curt. We waited another 10 minutes to order. We asked the server about the specials and were told "I don't memorize all of the specials!" horrible, horrible service! We likely won't be going back again. And Charcoal Grill used to be one of our favorite places.

You can't beat their happy hour specials (3-6pm) - super cheap drinks and cheap appetizers. They also have specials during the week like buy one, get one burgers. They also have a nice brunch buffet for only $10, which includes a variety of breakfast foods, pasta, and fresh fruit.

Wonderful food, and generous portions make this one to revisit regularly. Only downside kind of loud, more sports bar like atmophere.
