I guess I found new place to buy bread from now on. This is my new favorite bakery, found this place through yelp, I got to try samples, their prices are pretty steep, but when you taste their products you'll understand, last time I was there I got a dollar loaf of bread because they had made to many loaves. I will be going back.
Came here for breakfast during a work trip in Wisconsin. This was pretty much the only place that was open and we were delighted and welcomed by the smells of sweet bread. GHB makes their own bread and granola in-house and also sells giant cookies, oils (olive/rosemary/garlic) and pre-made soup mixes. A huge bag of fresh pecan granola was only 8! I ordered the pumpkin chocolate muffin and some granola and it was super yummy! The muffin was kind of greasy but it was definitely tasty and fresh- prob because it came out of the oven hours before! The store also has a frequent punch card and the wonderful woman at the counter gave me 2 punches! (13 punches get you a free item, I believe!) I would have definitely stayed longer if not for a meeting.
Great fresh bread, so addictive. The bakery there is also delicious.

Free pie with a meal on Wednesday!
Their pie was good. I grabbed the pick 3 special which was half a sandwich, soup or salad, and a slice of pie. I had the BLT - good, lots of bacon, good tomatoes. Salad w/ranch - good crisp lettuce. Didn't taste like it had been sitting all day. Apple pie - warm, good crust, not dry. it was good. Lots of old people (lots) but that shouldn't stop you. They know good pie.
We got a couple of pies to go. Not only were the pies great, they also provided an abundance of utensils, napkins and plastic containers to eat from or carry your piece home after the gang broke up.

We did the work lunch here today and everyone really liked it. We had sandwiches and wraps. OMG was the chicken fiesta sandwich was really good. The fresh jalapeño roll is so freakin good. All the sandwiches start with one of there house made fresh speciality rolls. The quality of the bread is second to none. There is seven different roll flavors you can choose from. You can custom build any sandwich with any of the of the menu items if you don't like there offerings. The chicken fiesta was very good. The jalapeño roll was fresh and on the light side because it was not very dense. The outer crust was that moist lightly chewy style. The chicken is a whole chicken breast not sliced lunch meat. I ordered this because the combination of ingredients is something I just have not seen anywhere. Jalapeño roll, good cheddar cheese, chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, sour creme, black olives and red onion that I added because I thought this would complete the sandwich. All the sandwiches come with one side that is a bag of chips, pasta salad and one other salads that changes. Today was Moroccan rice which I have never had so you know that's what I'm getting. I have never had anything like this and it's hard to describe because it has precise amounts of complex flavors going on. Two kinds of rice and I think cranberries, nuts with a bunch of other ingredients I can't figure out, see my picture. It was a cold side that was on the sweet side. The texture was firm and not mushy, if you ever had left over fried rice and didn't heat it up this would be the texture. Over all I couldn't stop eating it because the taste and texture intrigued me, no way I could copy it. This creation is out of my league and why an Elm grove cafe is even offering something like this just blows me away. They do so much so right here. The fresh bread and top quality fresh ingredients really stand above most places. I didn't have the wraps but they looked amazing with hand carved meats and fresh ingredients, I'm not a wrap guy at all but I'm getting a wrap next time. The lunch items are awesome but the breakfast was not so much, pre made and microwaved. When you go here for breakfast all you can hear is microwave beeps and doors opening and closing. Over all this place rocks.
There is always a juxtaposition with hidden gems. It's hidden and awesome, but when you overshare--as I am about to do--you worry that it will now become well-known and less of a gem. It will certainly not be hidden anymore, but it will certainly not become a dull gem. In this case, it shouldn't be hidden; everyone should know about River Mill, Jill, and the rest of the great folks that operate this beauty of a café. It's really special, from the warm greetings and humble hospitality to the homemade dressings, soups, and desserts, as well as their made-before-your-very-eyes, fresh menu items. I was frequenting this spot almost every day, and I had to take a tiny break, but that doesn't mean I adore them less. I had to pace myself. It's difficult when a restaurant has really mastered their craft and shows they care. You experience that passion the minute you walk in the door. Elm Grove has a major player on their hands. Yes, they're not open late, and you'll have to make your way between the breakfast and lunch hours, but it's worth that window of time and will have you anticipating your next visit. Take a menu with you and call it in. Even if you can't sit a spell with the ladies of River Mill, you can take a bit of "homemade" back to the office with you. I promise that your cubicle-mates will ask where you got your goodies. It's always good to be the trendsetter.
I work nearby, so The River Mill is a frequent choice for me and my co-workers. We LOVE their home-made soups, but the Taco Salad is my favorite. I try to stay gluten-free and am so grateful that they have many choices for GF. The mini-cheescakes are "just enough" to satisfy that after-lunch craving for something a little sweet (I don't eat the crust although it looks fabulous!) Now that the weather permits, the outdoor seating in the adorable courtyard is so enjoyable.

I was only here briefly today and actually didn't look around the inside too much - my biking party and I ate outside. I appreciated their 3.99 deal for a sub, chips and a drink. The sub seemed smaller than a 6 inch but for 3.99 I think all in all was a good deal. I really liked the bread on the sub. Cute place.
LOVE this place. It's a great change-up from the normal sub chains. Friendly staff, amazing shakes, and really tasty subs. I also enjoy the little chocolates we get after each purchase. Cozy environment. Convenient as heck for me. Always a pleasure.
I have driven past this place plenty of times and only seeing chocolate factory I thought it was a candy store so I never gave it any thought. When I accidentally came across the menu and saw that it was much more I knew I would try it. The inside was very nice and clean looking. My first impression was that it was an up scale version of those custards places that serve food. I decided that this would be the Friday work lunch spot. I opted for the Italian with extra meat because I have had subs with very little meat and I will not mention any names. It had Genoa and cotto salami, provolone cheese, red onion, lettuce, vinegar/oil on a fresh roll. The roll had a crispy crust with soft bread on the inside that was great. There was plenty of meat, see my pictures. The sub was now my second favorite behind the pick nick basket. The sub was very tasty and it all worked very well. Overall it was very good with a good quality sandwich. The ice creme options looked very good. 6 subs will get you a small free Sunday with the punch card and 11 is one free sub. We will be back.

O'Donoghue's is an institution, and my home bar. Large food menu where everything is made fresh, good tap selection, and an impressive Irish whiskey selection. I highly recommend the reuben rolls. While being a great place for locals, this place pulls in notable guests from all around SE Wisconsin. The owner is one of the friendliest and most professional I've ever encountered, and can be found making his guests feel at home most nights. The atmosphere is perfect for a neighborhood Irish bar, cozy and welcoming with a great energy.
Not a bad place for lunch. Kind of a divey atmosphere and the dining area was freezing. But the service was good and quick and the food was pretty darn good. The prices are pretty cheap, but if you want to add chicken to a salad it's an extra $6 which is redunk.

Firehouse Subs

FRESH! Was told about Firehouse by a coworker who raved. Went on a Saturday evening and sadly the place was empty. The restaurant itself is immaculate with a cool "all things firehouse related" motif. I ordered a large "hook and ladder" which was a turkey/ham sub with all the fixin's served warm. My wife had the medium "turkey bacon ranch' sandwich. Both subs were delicious and all ingredients very, very fresh. The staff was very pleasant, attentive, and appeared happy in their work which unfortunately seems rare these days in the service industry. Free fire helmets for the kiddies too!
Stumbled upon this gem with my brother when we were helping my fiance' move, and needed a lunch break. This is an amazing sub shop that is truly unique from your usuals (subway, Cousins, etc). I had the Roast beef, bacon, and cheese sub, and wow it was incredible! My brother loved his as well, although I forgot which one he went with. I loved the hot sauce bar they have set up at the end, with the heat rankings (just went with their barbeque sauce though, which is delicious!). If you want a change of pace in the way of subs, check this place out! Oh, and they also have a large sandwich selection as well! Can't go wrong!
We have been here a few times for dinner. It;s a very nice sub shop, but it just another sub shop to me. On our first visit, I had the New York Steamer. It was flavorful, but the I did expect a sightly bigger portion of meat on the sandwich. The meat was thinly sliced, and for a corned beef and pastrami that just doesn't work for me. I'm a classic New York pastrami on rye with mustard kind of girl. It was just okay and I should have known better than to even order this sandwich. On my second visit, I opted for the Hook & Ladder sandwich. This was a step up, and the thin sliced ham and turkey made much more sense. Again, it was good, but it didn't blow my socks off. They do have a kids menu. The grilled cheese and rice crispy treat were perfect for our 2 year old, and they even have organic mild to drink. We most likely will stop again when we need a quick bite to eat, but honestly my favorite thing is the fancy Coke machine with the 100+ flavors.

The biscuits n gravy is excellent! A thick sauce with a hint of kick. Served hot with a side of Tabasco.
Descriptive phrase: friendly, older Greek diner. I had a perfectly nice breakfast at Penelope's Restaurant in Elm Grove on a Wednesday morning. It wasn't full, but had a nice little population inside for that time of the week. Our server was very friendly, and the space reminded me of every single suburban Greek diner I've ever been in; that's an okay sentiment. My Grecian Skillet ($8.95) was enough for a meal and a half, without even touching the three slices of toast. It was exactly what I was looking for: eggs on a bed of chopped gyro meat, onions, green peppers, and hash browns, fresh off the griddle. The feta cheese ties the tastes together. Comfort food.
In from out of town..The place must good as we found our way down there almost every other day for 2 weeks.. awesome staff..good food.

Cheese curds and concrete mixers.... need a say more? For a niche market which I believe Culver's is this is the best it gets. By niche I mean great tasting greasy burgers with high calorie items like curds and mixers... if you want to binge eat this is your spot.
The northern Midwest makes me think of one culinary delight in particular: fried cheese curds. Imagine my delight when even a fast food restaurant serves them in this neck of the woods! I visited a Culver's for the first time ever this week and would definitely visit again. Not only were the famous butterburgers scrumptious, you can get fried cheese curds as a side item. I was in artery-clogging heaven when I went here, chowing down on both my burger and my side. The restaurant itself was clean, the staff was friendly and well-groomed, and service was quick. All in all, it was everything a busy traveler could hope for in a quick bite to eat!
Typically a great chain, this operation has had 8-10 chances to please but this is what our burgers always come out of the box looking like! The bag is kept vertical just as it's given to us. We have notified them and problems persist!

Silver Spur Texas Smokehouse BBQ

The worst restaurant ever. If you like your barbeque sauce watered down, chicken cook days before and microwaved go here. I took one bite and had to leave. I'm not that picky, but for gods sake, this was horrible. Might just call the health inspector. Gross!
My friend and I were visiting friends in West Allis and decided to take a little detour to grab some desserts from Sweet Tooth, which is across the street. Our drive up had taken a little longer than anticipated and we were hungry. There were a few options in the area, but BBQ sounded the best and we decided to check this place out. Service was a bit slow but not terrible. We got our Bloody Marys relatively quickly and they were tasty, though a bit hot. We had to wait a while to order and I found that the Saturday Prime Rib isn't available until 4pm, so I had to make a new choice and waited again for the waitress to return. I was hoping they'd have Rib Tips or something similar. I was given the Fat Jacks as a recommendation. It ended up being a BBQ sandwich and was pretty good but nothing I'd be in a rush to order again. My friend's salad, though large, wasn't as satisfying as she'd have liked and she said if she were hungrier, she'd order a second serving of chicken since there wasn't much. All in all, it was a good meal; I'm just not in a rush to return. However, I am still interested in trying their Prime Rib, so maybe I'll check them out again the next time I go to Sweet Tooth because I'll definitely be going back to that business.
Visited this place at the Waukesha county fair. I had the pulled pork sandwich and can say it was absolutely tasteless and bland. What a letdown! The bbq sauce that they provided in a tiny plastic cup was nothing special. I was surprised that they put out such a mediocre product- I've done similar pulled pork in a slow cooker without spices. I never post negative reviews, so I hope they were just having an off day.

Can't beat this all you can eat sushi joint. The sushi is fresh and the service is quick! I do appreciate there rule "25 cents for every piece left on you plate". They are trying to reduce people who over order. So just keep that in mind. Other wise great place to get your sushi fix!
Yuck! I LOVED this restaurant under its two former names. Now that it's Yamato, my last 2 experiences have been horrible and I won't go back. 1st visit: Sushi tasted like it had been pre-made hours before and then refrigerated for the lunch rush. 2nd visit: The spicy California roll used to be my favorite thing to order prior to the restaurant's last name change. Now it's just a California roll with some spicy mayo thrown on top. No thanks!
Been a few times. Sushi tasted ok. One of my last visits I had intestinal issues a few hours later. Thinking it was a one time event or coincidence I went again about 6 weeks later, same problem. I won't be returning.
