The service it's great. We were treated really well by down-to-earth staff who gave off an "everyone knows your name" appeal. The best part is the food. It's a little surreal how bar food can be this good. We had soup, burger, wings, cornbread, and drinks. EVERYTHING was amazing. Must visit!
Normally, when I'm traveling around Wisconsin, I brace for fact that as a vegetarian I'll be stuck with some pretty dire food options. Brown Bear has, without a doubt, the best bar food I've ever had. Great house made veggie patty with some amazing side options. I went with roasted Brussels sprouts, but the cornbread is also pretty astounding.
Really cool place with surprisingly awesome food and a nice staff. Only complaint is the beer selection. It seems like a place that should have a great selection of local/craft beer, but it falls way short on that front, sadly. Busch on tap? Why?

This place is great if you are camping here. The food is pretty average, but it's so convenient and the people are nice. Looking forward to returning.
After Lolas on the lake bungled our reservation we were looking for something good and tasty and found it here at Three Guys and a Grill This is a very casual but good restaurant/ bar that is in a recreation area a couple of miles out of downtown Elkhart lake. Their meat is pretty high quality from Miesfields in Sheboygan. My wife and I each had the large T-bone and it was a thinner but very tasty steak. The subtle accent the wood fired grill added with a well seasoned steak made this meal. The warm potato salad was a really good side as were the fries. Lots of interesting choices on the menu.
We'd rate this somewhere in the range of 3-4. We stopped in for lunch while we were exploring the area. The restaurant was very clean and friendly for an out-of-the way location. Lunch sandwiches were solid - nothing fancy. Broasted chicken was tasty. Service a little slow during the lunch rush.

Had lunch today with the family on the patio. Great menu and kids menu as well(important for a resort restaurant). Ordered Bloody Mary's for my wife and I. Our great server, Andrea upsold us with a shot of beer! Nice! They were simply perfect. Although I prefer blue cheese stuffed olives & pickles, the pickled asparagus-olives-lime combo worked. Andrea was HUSTLING! She had help from a Manager/Hostess but the timeliness of our food could have been improved with one more server. (I'm sure someone called out sick as it was a beautiful day). The pear salad with bleu cheese, carmelized walnuts, & marinated grilled chicken was phenomenal. Highly recommend this place!
Terrific bar area with outstanding selection of scotch choices. Great view and atmosphere....amazing food. Bone in rib eye was delicious. Gracious, well trained staff that exhibited proper serving techniques for a semi-formal restaurant. Will definitely go back.
I only had a cocktail, so I cannot comment on the food. Attentive service from the bartender just before closing. I had a bourbon old fashioned, which was very good. (No muddled fruit :-( ). Classy bar, nicely decorated, dimly lit.

If you go to this restaurant make sure you are dining with people you enjoy because this is NOT going to be a quick meal. Dinner was tasty BUT we waited over 2 hours for it to arrive. ALSO, bring your own space heater. The staff will politely decline your request to tickle the thermostat buttons. Cold cold cold!
Went there tonight and a new bartender again. She asked if we wanted old fashioned's but didn't ask if we want rail brandy or a different which is what everyone else has done. I'm also used to mettled orange rind in it which I had here which is why I came back in the first place, didn't happen and had rail brandy. Was ok at best. We ordered shrimp scampi and scallop pasta. Shrimp scampi was shrimp with cherry tomatoes soaked in lemon juice. So much lem juice you couldn't eat it. The scallop pasta had veggies and small scallops. The sauce had no flavor and so much grease it left film in my mouth. Won't be back for long time. This place keeps going downhill. For $50 I can go a bunch of other places.
Went there for thanksgiving. Absolutely horrible. Fake potatoes, cut up deli looking turkey, dry deserts, no pumpkin pie. I was really excited not to cook this year. Huge waste of $90.

Braun’s Ranch

We frequently visit Elkhart Lake and stay at the Osthoff resort. We recently were looking for a new place to dine (new to us). We chose Braun's Ranch and we liked it. Upon entering Braun's you are immediately hit by the classic, huge supper club bar. This bar snakes and snakes. We will have to go back just to sit at the bar. This would be worth the trip. The decor is lacking but the establishment is clean and tidy and the service prompt and speedy. We placed our order and in what seemed like 5 minutes our food was delivered. My drink, a Brandy Old Fashioned, sweet with vegetables was excellent! Now, we should have ordered beef as the meat offerings looked delicious. The night we were there they offered an "all you can eat" buffet featuring prime rib. It looked very good. The buffet was a bit odd with heat lamps rigged below the buffet lights, making all the food very dark. I ordered the baked cod and my wife a salad. Both were good. We will not be counting the days until our return trip to Braun's but it provided an overall quality experience that was tasty and budget friendly.
We were up at Elkart Lake for Jazz On The Wine and stopped in to Brauns for Friday night dinner. We were there last year and it was wonderful. This year we different. The place wasn't busy for a friday. The service was poor the owner Glenn was sitting at the bar not concerned about his customers. He had Jett, tending bar with a bad ankle. We had the buffet. Food Wasn't hot. Seems like the food was out for awhile. Will never go back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. OH by the way, there was a FOR SALE sign out front. Go figure.
OMG, this is the best place to eat in Elkhart Lake. This is real food for real people. Don't be turned off by the old-ish looking wooden building. Every meal comes with a wonderfully fresh soup and salad bar. This alone is a great deal at $6.95.....but order a 2-piece broasted chicken dinner and you get the soup & salad bar, plus choice of potatoes or rice, plus vegetable for the same price. I can honestly say I've never had better chicken in my entire life: farm fresh. This is where the locals eat and where I'll be eating when I return.
