Love eating here! The staff is great and pay attention to their tables. The vegetables on the table are great (could eat them as a meal they are so delicious) I normally get the steak tacos and grilled onions. I think both are consistantly cooked on my many visits. I would agree that some of the steak has chunks of fat on them. My only critique would be the inconsistency with the mix drinks. Sometimes they are extremely strong other times I wondered if there was alcohol in it.

Simple no frills authentic Mexican food. While visiting Lake Geneva, I asked the wait staff at several restaurants where do they go for Mexican food. They all recommended this place. Had the Chilaquiles with Cecina. Salsa was not spectacular but overall we had a solid dining experience. Well recommended.

Casual authentic Mexican cuisine. Tripe, tongue are on the menu so you know it's no chain restaurant. The place is small so most likely not good for large groups. I went in for a late lunch. I had the steak tacos, the queso was thick and cheesy. Not thinned out with milk like you see in some places. We also had the steak burrito. Thick and filled with plenty of tender bites of chopped steak. I wasn't to impressed with the chips. They seemed a little stale. Perhaps they were sitting for awhile. Salsa had a good note. Not overbearing. Table side bottles of salsa verde and chipotle sauce made for nice condiments to the burrito and tacos.

Everyone in the area obsesses over this place. It is no where near as good of food at places like Guanajuato or some of the other neighboring Mexican spots. I got the breaded chicken torta dinner and I couldn't even bite through the chicken it was so tough. And my teeth are rather sharp. Their steak taco meat always has large chunks of fat.

Food was only okay. Enchilada red sauce was not very pleasant and enchiladas were small. Chips were stale. Waitress was very kind and prompt, but smelled of cigarette smoke. Okay for the only thing open on a holiday.

Best Mexican food I have had in the Midwest by far! Great prices, lots of options. Free chips and salsa when you dine in and the salsa is amazing!

Co-workers and I eat lunch here at least twice a month and we have never had a bad meal or bad service. We all love this place! I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican food and this place is as authentic as it gets. Their prices are dirt cheap and you can always get in and out quickly for lunch. It's mind boggling that people pick Hernandez Restaurant over this place, when eating in Delavan.

This by far is our go to Mexican restaurant. They have an amazing menu of authentic Mexican food. The prices are very reasonable and the service is always exceptional. The guacamole and salsa is always fresh. The steak tacos are one of the best!

This i believe was my 3rd visit to Los Agaves, I got the steak taco dinner which is 3 taco's rice and beans. I also got 2 more Chicken tacos, My Fiance ordered a Chicken quesadilla, without onions, the server stated the onions are diced up in the chicken mix, so she was going to order pork taco's the server stated again that the onions are diced in the pork, just not the steak, so she went ahead and tried the chicken tacos. It's kind of upsettting that they put the onions in the meat for those who dislike onions (I'm also one of those people) The free Chips/Salsa is pretty good. and service is always good, Just a heads up for you onion haters out there.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in the Delevan/Darien area. I am from Chicago and am SPOILED when it comes to good Mexican food. The food here is truly authentic and they have an abundance of combo dinners to choose from such as 2 tacos and a tostada, 1 enchilcada, 1 taco and 1 tostada, etc. That way you can sample; Carne Asada, Pastor and Pollo for a variety of great Mexican flavors. They also have the infamous carrots and cauliflower on the tables with a great kick. This place is better than the touristy place around the corner. The Agaves is a great spot and the food has flavor and has never ever been greasy or bad.

This is our favorite Mexican Restaurant in the area. They have always impressed us. Guacamole is made fresh from scratch and it is family owned. They make Mexican tacos as well as Americanized versions.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
