Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. This place had a couple rough patches the last decade; however, now this place is back to what I remember it as a child. I've graduated from kiddie cocktails but it still feels like the Inn Between... Surely the best place on the lake for happy hour. You won't be disappointed.

We've gone to the Inn Between many times over the last 14 years we've been on the lake and I have to say I think they've gotten better over the last couple years. We went yesterday to have a late lunch and watch the Packers play the Bears. The burgers were great (I had the cheeseburger and my husband had the bacon cheeseburger) and the fries awesome. And the Pinot Grigio was very decent. Our server was friendly and efficient even though he was also working the bar and the place was hopping because of the game. The day was gorgeous and it's so nice to go outside and sit on the patio with the beauty of the lake as your view.

Came on a rainy Saturday afternoon with a group and were, frankly, disgusted. There was a bachelor party going on and in multiple places people had thrown up. Real live puke on the floor and no one seemed to care. Bartenders were pouring more drinks to people who couldn't even stand up. Children were walking around and still no one was cleaning up the puke. We went outside and an hour later when we left it was still filthy inside. We were so disappointed because we brought guests and were mortified that they thought this is our kind of place, like we initially told them while walking over. I hate to say it, but this may have to be the last time we ever go to the Inn Between. :-(

What's not to like. Bar on the lake. Park your boat. Get some decent bar food. Cold drink. Everyone is happy and friendly. Hey, you're in a bar...on the lake. It's nice to know some things don't change and the Inn Between has been going along, being itself. And when they do make some adjustments, it's always for the better. Like adding Tiki bar or bags in summer. Great place to stop and make friends. Keep up the good work. And in the winter, don't miss the softball tournament...on the ice. That is not a typo. One last thing, some reviews not so favorable about service. Not sure what happenedl Note: It's a small place with usually only a couple of people working bar and kitchen. I never had a problem by being a nice, patient customer. Everyone is friendly and everyone is welcome at The Inn Between.

Went here over the summer but after all day of being out on the boat, I don't know if it was the alcohol or the sun. But I do remember that was the best greasiest food I've ever had in my life. The waitresses were obviously doing the best they could, and you could tell they were young and doing it as a summer job, so I had no problem with service. The atmosphere was relaxing as well. Thumbs up.

Best bar in town, only bar on the lake with amazing views of Delavan Lake. Great friendly staff and good food. Big dock over looking the water with bags and a tiki bar!

Man... I don't know what happened to this place. Their waitresses are AWFUL. It took forever for them to come check on us for us to place an order, then the food took forever. The cheese curds were so salty we couldn't finish them. We ordered second drinks and never got them. Then when trying to ask for the check the girl behind the bar was checking her phone and pouring herself water to drink. Completely ignoring us. It was such a disappointment. The only thing that was good was the Bloody Mary. Would not recommend coming here, go to Lake Lawn instead.

Cute place with horrible unattentive service. Prices ridiculous! Walked out after 40 minutes of waiting for burger. Don't waste your time. They will waste your time for you.

  • Michael J.

Tiny bar with no service, and bad servers in general go there if you want to waste your time, and your money if you can squeeze around the bar, and your actually served. Worst bar ever, and I've been to a lot being around the Chicago land area my whole life I've never been to a worse bar.

The Inn Between is warming on me. The men's bathroom and beaver ball carpet hasn't smelled nearly as much during my most recent visits. The bartenders are still hit or miss, but the atmosphere mostly makes up for it. I've had too many good memories at the Inn Between to only give them a three. A four it is!

** Update ** Last 2-3 times I've been here it's been a disappointment. Steak sandwich hubs ordered was inedible. Burgers were greasy. Service non-existent. It's sad because this used to be a fun place to hang out by the water but seems like everything went downhill in the summer of '14 It really should have just one star but it IS still on the water, which is probably giving it more than it deserves.

Has a great view but it stops there. The service was so bad. I was there with 2 other people and had to wait and wait to get service for 3 drinks and there was only a handful of people in the place the bartender would rather talk with friends then serve the customers. I finally got out drinks and talked to other customers and they also had to wait. I decided to go get another drink and had to wait once again then my friend came up asking what was taking so long. Then 2 other people came up and started to wait with us. Bartender looked at me and I started to tell her what we wanted to drink she then told me that the other guy next to me that just walked up was here 1st. I said are you joking. But she wasn't. She served him 1st. I was never treated so rude. Views are great but that's about it.

I like this bar because you can dock your boat here and have a beer. Food is ok. Service is ok.

Awesome place to hang out on Delavan Lake. The view off the deck is unmatched. The food is great (especially the chicken sandwich). The bar staff is the best around especially the newest addition Nikki. The new owners are usually there with a smile and a story. I'd say the most relaxing bar in the area.

Beautiful views of the lake. Casual, friendly atmosphere. Clean inside and out. Lots of fun games including bags outside and something called beaver ball (reminds me a bit of bocce, a bit of shuffleboard) that's very addictive. Delicious, above-average pub food including a juicy, spicy chicken breast sandwich and fried corn (think fried cheese curds but made with creamed corn). One of their specialty drinks is a fully-loaded bloody mary which includes a pickle, olive, and pickled asparagus spear. This place is a treasure!

I think if this place were just sitting on my neighborhood corner in Chicago it wouldn't resonate so highly with me. As it is though, the Inn Between sits about 300 feet off of Lake Delavan. This makes it just about the perfect place to tie your boat up to after a long day of frolicking on the lake, and head inside for a few beers. The setup is simple. There's a nice outdoor patio in the front. Inside, a row of bar seats, two tables in the back, a couple tv's, a juke box, a pinball machine a dartboard and a golden tee. Maybe the Inn Between just piggybacks off the awesome lake atmosphere. But I have never been here and not had a good time.

I give the Inn Between an extra star because I can walk home from there. It has a great deck that faces the Lake and is a great spot to watch fireworks from. The food is above average for a bar in the area, I love love love the cheese curds. The staff is nice and helpful, it is not unusual to have kids there during the day. It is also a fun crowd after hours too.

Good drinks and good bar food. Has a great spot on the lake making it a great local place. Have been there numerous times for lunch and late night drinks and will continue to go there on my weekend getaways.

Ahhhhh The Inn Between..how many nights have I spent here??? It's a dive bar for sure but it's on the Lake and it's fun. My friends and I go here every time we are in Delavan and always have a good time. The jukebox is awesome, the drinks are super cheap ($21 for all night???), the bartenders (Dean and Jim) are cute - maybe that's why $21? and the crowd is usually fun. Some nights is more your local crowd and other nights it can be more young and hip. Ohhhhh and the cheese balls...so good!

Nice place to stop in, friendly staff, I've only been once as they seem to close a bit early if they aren't busy.

Biker Dive Bar all the Way! Lots of seating outside by the water. Hidden at the end of a dead end road. Decent prices on beer. Fun game they invented called Beaver Ball... Its using billiard balls for all you sick minded folks lol. Haven't tried their food but evidently they claim to have the "best burgers in the world." We shall see next time. If the burgers rock then this place gets 5 Stars.
