I stopped by with a friend for the Friday night fish fry. We arrived a little early, around 5:30 or so, and had no wait for a table. The main dining area was absolutely covered in kitschy Christmas decorations! Train set, multiple Santas, dolls and all. As for the fish fry, there was a broiled and fried cod - the broiled was super and had some amazing seasoning. The fried was simple but tasty. We went all out on sides - fries, potato pancakes, and applesauce... Like the fried cod, it was all simple but delicious. At about $12 a person before drinks, the fish fry is a great treat at the end of the week.

This is THE PLACE you want to go for dinner on a Friday night if you find yourself in the area. It is located out in the middle of nowhere such that only the locals (and savvy Yelpers) know about it. They've been doing a Friday night fish fry for something like 40 years. Really good food at a really absurd price point. Seriously, AYCE for about $12. Unreal. First up was their cheese & crackers. A scoop each of two different cheese concoctions. The herb version is made in-house and better in my opinion. Note: this is something they don't habitually serve on Fridays but all you have to do is ask. Next up was assortment of condiments and sides. The waitress brought house-made tartar sauce which was quite good and slightly tangy. Coleslaw which was acceptable but nothing spectacular. Apple sauce which was very good and sour cream in the event you want some on your potatoes. Up next is the dinner platter... The fish comes two ways - broiled or fried. Can you try a piece of each? Absolutely. Both preparations were just about perfect with the breaded offering edging out the low-fat version as is prone to happen when there's a deep fryer involved. The potato options are fries or potato pancakes. Can you try a little of both? Absolutely. The fries were just fries but the potato pancakes were delicious. A little bigger than a silver dollar and about 3/8" thick. Unlike any potato pancakes I've ever been served but really good. Slightly salty, slightly crunchy and not at all greasy. I tried them with maple syrup (waitress' suggestion), sour cream (bus girl's suggestion), apple sauce (duh) and the aforementioned cheddar cheese spread. My favorite was the cheese. They will bring you as much of everything as you care to eat. Personally, I was smoked after the first plate so I asked for the check and got on with my weekend. So glad I found this place! I'm sure I will become their least regular of their regulars as I will only have the opportunity to get in there once a year. That said, I know exactly where I'm having dinner one Friday next summer...

My family and I love to come here! great fish for Fridays but the other food is SUPER good as well. The staff is great! It's cozy, quaint and very welcoming. It also accommodates larger crowds which is nice. Best Fish Fry around!!

In my opinion, the Emperor is " NOT" wearing any clothes. Because Hickey bought his way into reviews, we must do a reality check into the quality, care, taste and experience of his restaurant, the Yuck Inn. Over exaggerated, over priced and over reviewed! I looked forward to my dining experience - long planned and eagerly anticipated. Huge disappointment - on every level. The service lacked professionalism - by any standard, the GM, John has a lot to learn about customer service and accommodation and the food - hence, Yuck Inn! Kevin Hickey, well, as I shared with him tonight, there is a reason his room was empty on a Friday night - perhaps it is the overpriced food, bad service and lack of attention to details. I say run, don't (duck) walk away from this place! Bridgeport now has so many wonderful dining options - stay away from the Duck Inn and lend support to the local restaurants, who have long served great food at fair prices to the community we live in. If I could rate the Yuck Inn on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the best......I'd say.......-11. By the way, about the 1 star rating, only because I had to - it is the lowest rating possible. If I could, I would have rated it in the negative - well, well deserved as it is a poor excuse for a restaurant. Shame on you guys - I know you are better than this. Maybe. My apologies - these review is for a Chicago restaurant by the same name. This place sounds great! The Chicago restaurant could learn a thing or two!

Friday night fish fry's are among those quintisentiall occurrences that typify a region. Most are average but The Duck Inn pulls it off with a delightful German spin that makes it a personal favorite. The breading on all of the fish from Cod to Schmeldt is perfect and the potato pancakes with applesauce on the side are to die for. The wait staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient. I always go out of the way when I'm in the area -it's well worth it.

Generally disappointed. I had Wiener schnitzel and my wife had the vegetarian pasta. Pasta was virtually unseasoned and schnitzel was pounded to within an inch of its life. Veal was so thin, you could hardly tell there was meat in it. What bulk there was came from the breading. Ordered a Brandy Alexander after the meal. It was huge, tasty, but took nearly 15 minutes to create. At one point, I commented the bartender must have needed to express a cow to get the milk needed for the ice cream. Really wanted this to be a positive experience, but unfortunately left disappointed. We're Foodies and love trying new things and places. Unfortunately, l doubt we'll be back.

Visited this restaurant on a sat nite to celebrate our anniversary. My husband & I ordered the prime rib. The queen cut portion is a good size & quality of the meat was excellent & very tasty. We plan to go back with our whole family. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Xmas and the fireplace was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place.

The food was solid but unfortunately our service was by a young waitress that gave attitude and kept disagreeing with us. Maybe she had a off night. The duck was indeed very tasty and I preferred the apple sauce from the sampler. French onion soup was serviceable but a little too salty. The salad was very plain but generally what was expected. The mashed potatoes were delicious with garlic and butter, but for some reason the menu said we had a choice of rice, potato, or pasta, but the waitress kept telling us we didn't have a choice. Strange and confusing. She also wouldn't bring bread for us when we asked. We had a cocktail which didn't taste very good but it was strong. If it weren't for the service, I would give it four stars. The other reviewers seem to have had a good service experience so I think ours was atypical. We are from out of town so don't know what quality if restaurant to expect in this area. If you are nearby and looking for good food, I would still recommend it.

We LOVE supper club type restaurants...and this is a great one! Second time here and enjoyed the friendly, prompt service...even on a really busy Saturday night. Food is delicious...husband raves about the duck....my son and I loved the filet mignon and I had a side of broiled scallops that were very flavorful and tasty. Nice, old time atmosphere but, clean and well kept up. On busy nights I would see if we could be seated in quiet bar area next time but, it cleared out quick so we liked that. Definitely a must!

Had a great experience at this wonderful Wisconsin supper club! Went on a Saturday night with a large group. Spent some time at the bar enjoying drinks first - nice cocktail menu, blue cheese stuffed olives, and attentive bartenders. Cozier atmosphere in the bar area than in the dining rooms, but in the dining rooms you can hear the great music being piped in. The owner was busy but still took time to explain the interesting history of the building and the restaurant. The food was SO good, my steak was on the special menu that night and was cooked perfectly in what I think was a red wine/balsamic sauce with carmelized onions and bacon. Others in the group had duck, the apple/brandy duck was especially good (I think there are about six duck entrees on the menu!). The menu has steaks, chops, pasta, poultry, and seafood selections - even blue gill, which isn't so common. All of the food was served hot and all nine entrees came out at the same time. Hard to choose from the dessert options, but we shared a few that were scrumptious. We left stuffed and with to-go boxes! Wish you could hear the music in the bar but we will absolutely be back!!!

Old school Wisconsin supper clubs are one of my favorite things about coming home to Wisconsin. And this place is one of my favorites. The food is phenomenal, while I get the half baked duck every time, I have sampled other items from family. Duck is one of my favorite foods and they do it so perfectly here. Always cooked so it's unbelievable tender and juicy, the skin has that little crisp and saltiness that makes it so good. The service is always wonderful, we always have a great time chatting up the bartenders and ordering fun cocktails. I especially love coming here on cold winter nights, the atmosphere is so warm and cozy with all the lights and fire they have going, makes for a great experience. This is place is one of my favorites any where and always will be.

Truly represents the traditional supper club! Relish tray when seated, yum! Great brandy old fashioned cocktails made by Connor. The Parmesan crusted calamari is so delicious, only recommend if you are ok with capers and pickled banana peppers (like peperoncinis). The duck vegetable soup is a must. Ordered off the specials menu, 20 oz. T-bone and sirloin with blue cheese-bacon butter. Sirloin was prepared perfectly medium rare. Prices are well worth the value. We will be back soon!

First off our server rocked it out (Wendy) and was absolutely terrific! Friendly, outgoing and a pleasure to have as a server. Food varied... I couldn't find the Escargot in the Escargot stuffed mushrooms, I assume it was cut up really small or pureed with some type of cheese/butter stuff. The duck sampler was tremendous, cooked perfectly, skin crispy, my husband and I both loved the mushroom sauce and the others (l'orange, cherry, apple) were good too, I really liked the cherry and all of them went well with the duck. We also split the pheasant and it was a half pheasant over dressing and gravy. Dressing and gravy was delicious... the pheasant was good but the breast was dry... that was extremely disappointing. If you covered it with dressing and gravy it was edible but we didn't want to return it so we wound up taking it home and basically tossing it out. Martinis were decent but served in a small martini glass and not a size that fine restaurants usually use. Atmosphere was crowded but very friendly and quite comforting. Although the tables are close together and the place fills up the patrons were friendly and I never felt uncomfortable or annoyed. Would we come here again? Probably...

They don't make them like this anymore. Surprised that none of the reviews mentioned the heavy pour Manhattans served at the bar. I had the roasted duck a few months ago and found that it was a bit dry. Last night, I had the prime rib which was a strong choice. I wish they enforced some sort of dress code since this isn't a Culver's. A lot of hunting hats and Carhartt overalls. Friendly attentive servers and a nice overall experience at an old-school supper club.

I've driven by this old supper club many times, and always had the thought "We really need to try this place.." So, last weekend we went camping at the "Snug Harbor" campground, and checked out the "Duck Inn" As other reviews have noted, there is no shortage of petrified fowl- everywhere. Hanging from the bar, hanging off the wall, and also unfortunately served on my wife's plate. The duck was dry. More info on that in her review. My experience was a cascade of beefy bites, smothered in blue cheese and a savory red wine sauce. A perfectly cooked beef tenderloin, topped with a crispy, cheesy blue cheese cap. The sauteed onions perfectly blended in with the red wine sauce. A basket of breads accompanied the meal, as is the norm for the old supper clubs, but this basket included a light cracker later identified as Swedish flat bread. Biting into this delicate cracker was a very surprising taste. Our bartender, as it turns out, is the person responsible for making these wonderful delicacies. I would go back, for no other reason, than to fill up on these crackers. In other words..YUM It was a tad pricey, our two meals, a few drinks, and a couple of desserts, ran us a bit over 120$- so it won't be a weekly stop for us, but it fits the bill for a nice evening out. That is, if you're in the Delavan area.

We were stoked to see this supper club so close to where we were staying in Delavan. Our meal began with a bread basket and the French onion soup I selected. My favorite from the bread basket was a warm roll topped with sunflower seeds, and some delicious graham cracker like Swedish flatbread baked on site. It seems that the baker also makes some cream cheese spread, but we didn't get to try any of that on this visit. The filet I chose was topped with a large peak of Gorgonzola walnut mixture, and I also tried the duck. I've only had duck one other time, and found this to have a crispy skin and to be a tad dry. They had a good wine selection, and we were tempted by the homemade desserts. I went with the custardy key lime pie, which was quite delicious. While we were at the bar, we saw the young bartender make a grasshopper, which was super thick and mounded WAY up over the glass beautifully. Service was great and we enjoyed our visit.

Great old fashioned supper club...Sinatra playing in the background, low lights, cloth tablecloths, leather booths, perfect atmosphere. Wisconsin is known for these supper clubs. Duck Inn served the traditional supper club favorite: cheese ball, crackers and fresh veggies. Several duck entrees to choose from but we both ordered one of the specials. Reasonably priced---entrees range from $18 - $30. Good food...good time...we will be back.

I've had two trips to the Duck Inn. They are a 3.5 star joint for me. The name is cute and clever, but I do have to say I was a little disappointed by their duck entrée I ordered on my first visit. However, you definitely get a hearty meal. My second visit was for their Friday Fish Fry. We had a big group, because we were celebrating a pair of birthdays and a wedding anniversary. The Duck Inn has great accommodations for big groups and families. I thought their fried cod was pretty tasty, and they have some really nice beverage selections! You should probably get a reservation Friday evenings--for how big this place is, it's impressive how quickly they fill up!

Came here Friday night for the fish fry. The fried cod is good and the potato pancakes are fantastic. I was barely able to walk out after. If your looking for a solid Friday night fish fry in southern Wisconsin this is your place.

Love the Duck Inn...we have never been disappointed.Brought my niece and her husband there and again...delicious!!They almost licked their plates. My filet was done to perfection...we asked for a table by the fireplace..even though we were late..they had our table waiting even though they were busy as usual. We live in Chicago and it is impossible to go out with 4 people...have soup or salad..entree and wine.....for $120 + tip......we can't wait to dine there again..........their record now is 5-0.........:)

We had a great experience here tonight on our road trip from MA to MN. Found it by doing a little online research and dove right in. First off, the atmosphere in the place is just what we were looking for. Old decor, nice old bar area, just a great-feeling old place. We didn't know about the Wisconsin supper-club tradition, but we got into it right away at this place. So we were ready for some compromises on the food because old places like this can sometimes serve stuff that's a bit heavy and sometimes even a little gross. No matter--we're willing to relax our standards just to get in on something totally local that's been around for a good long while. But there were no compromises needed at this place! We first realized something was up when my wife said, "Wait a minute! I think this peppercorn ranch dressing on the salad is homemade." Sure enough, we asked the waitress (who was great), and she said yes indeed it is. The duck soup was hearty and great too, and waitress brought out fresh dinner rolls and Swedish flatbread as soon as they came out of the oven, All really really good. I had the Hunters style pork medallions with spaetzle. I loved it. The sauce was very rich and dark, with a mushroomy flavor. The pork was breaded and fried and stayed crispy and tender in the sauce. I've had lots of this kind of thing in my lifetime--schnitzel and veal parm and orange crispy beef etc. etc.--but this was among the best in the way the sauce and the breading and the meat itself came together. It was a huge portion, and I ate it all. My wife loved her shrimp dinner too, which again was really breaded and fried well. Kids had duck soup and a hamburger, and they did well with them. Also loved the fresh-baked cookie that came with the kids meal. Again, the waitress was great and the whole dinner came to less than a hundred bucks (wife and I each had a cocktail and a glass of wine). I can't imagine a better WI supper club experience.

Very nice traditional Wisconsin supper club. The staff was friendly once we got seated, and we enjoyed the food (barbecued ribs and the evening's special, baked chicken). We didn't try the duck and the food was generous enough that we didn't need dessert. Seems a step above the usual supper club food-wise.

I have been eating here since I was 10 years old and I am still going back. I had a great gorgonzola crusted new York strip that was dripping with gorgonzola. Some may not enjoy that but it was delicious. Love the duck phone in the bar as well! The staff is friendly and quick to pass you a spotted cow.

The Duck Inn is an old school Wisconsin Supper Club where generous drinks are served in "tubs" and nobody goes home hungry. I've been dining at the Duck Inn for over 30 years and have never been disappointed. Located at a midpoint between Delavan, Elkhorn, Janesville and Whitewater it is a midpoint for many residents and visitors alike. The food is classic Midwestern fare and offers something for everyone, but meat is the order for the day. The complementary heaping relish tray and cheese, cracker and bread basket will tide you over before the meal arrives. The knotty pine dining room and roaring fireplace will take off the chill of winter while you sip your overflowing cocktail and peruse the nights specials. Friday's are a madhouse, but what restaurant in Wisconsin isn't on a Friday night. The Friday fish fry is a crowd pleaser, but I usually opt for a nice beef or walleye fillet. A little more expensive than other places in the area, but a value for the quality and amount of food served. If you find that you are not completely satisfied by the end of dinner, top it off with and artery clogging Grasshopper or Brandy Alexander.

I have enjoyed this place for years. However, I recently had a very bad experience with one of their waitstaff. Her name was Joyce. I have seen her there before and previously noted the sour expression she always seems to have on her face. Well, I recently had the displeasure of being seated at one of her tables. I have never been treated so poorly by a server. It was crazy - she acted as though I had done something to personally offend her and we had never interacted before. I eventually gave up and requested a new waitress -- and she saved the evening. Be warned - and if you dine there -- request, "May I please have a server - any server - other than Joyce"?

The restaurant has three seating areas. The main dining room that is beautiful and rustic, the bar area which is also nice, and the back room that has no warmth, good lighting, or ambiance. If you go, wait for a good table in the main dining room. The service was great and our waitress was well trained. But honestly in the seven years I've gone here off and on, they just fall short of a good meal. They may do one thing really well and then the next really bad. There seems to be no consistency and this is what my neighbors say too. The Friday fish fry was good. I have no complaints with the fish, however, they served possibly the worse potato pancakes I've ever tried. They were old and had a pasty consistency. The cold slaw was OK, but nothing special. They do however give a very generous pour on their alcohol, and I really appreciated the generosity with that. It's not a bad place to eat, but a foodie would be disappointed.

Kind of surprised at all the 5 star raves.....it is okay, maybe even good, but not GREAT with 2 !!!'s.....we made the trip up there from Lake Geneva and were a little disappointed....the duck (we all ate duck in one form or another) was a little bland and, for some, a little dried out....maybe that is the way folks there like it, but I was looking for a little more 'forward' treatment like filets or spice.... All that the others noted is true...not a noisy place; definitely not a 21 year old hangout...

My husband and I went to the Duck Inn while vacationing in Whitewater, WI. We try to make the trip to Whitewater yearly, but we won't be returning to the Duck Inn. We went on a Monday night because Randy's - our intended destination - was closed. The Duck Inn was clearly short-staffed; we waited more than 10 minutes for our waitress to come for our drink orders. While our waitress was clearly trying very hard and hustling, she was just stretched too thin. She was also forgetful - which is not really a problem if service isn't slow, but which becomes a big problem when you wait 10+ minutes after getting your meal just to have an opportunity to ask for steak sauce...for a second time. I also wasn't terribly impressed with the kitchen - I asked for a medium rare steak and got a medium well steak. I didn't bother complaining because by the time I had steak sauce to eat the steak with and discovered the problem, we would probably have been there all night waiting to get a properly cooked steak. Frankly, I'd give the Duck Inn only one star but for two facts: my husband's pheasant entree was apparently quite good (I couldn't taste it because I was allergic to it) and the Duck Inn did successfully feed me a gluten-free meal from which I did not get sick.

We just returned from the Duck Inn after our first trip and I would recommend it, without hesitation. Our server (Omar) was attentive and personable, without being pushy or hurried. Granted, there weren't too many people there tonight (but it was later on a Monday evening). My son had the Wasabi Salmon, which he loved! My partner ordered the duck, I ordered the blackened rib-eye, and we went halves on everything. Both entrees were delicious and generously portioned. Salads/soups were good, and the breads/crackers/butter/cheese were plentiful. As noted by others, the decor is pure Wisconsin Supper Club which we found to be entirely delightful. We'll definately go back!

Read about this place in the book - Wisconsin Supper Clubs. Extremely disappointed in the service and the food. The waitress was wearing a filthy apron and the place had only just opened for the day, Not very appetizing. We told her we were there because of the write up in the book and her response was a shoulder shrug. There was a typed page of specials which included Prime Rib but apparently that is not served on certain days. Why would you list Prime Rib on the list of daily specials and then make it unavailable? Now let's talk about the food. We chose the French Onion soup. It was so salty it was inedible. It resembled au jus rather than French Onion soup. Would advise avoiding it at all cost. The steak had no flavor and the sauce was ridiculously salty. We brought the steak home and fed it to the dog. It was that bad. The mashed potatoes with thyme sounded fabulous, but even adding butter didn't help. The asparagus was overcooked and soggy. Also ordered the fried shrimp. The batter was very good. Looked like the same batter used for the fried fish everyone else was eating. It would have been nice if the fried fish had been on the menu, on the list of specials or mentioned by the waitress. Guess you have to be 'in the know' about the fried fish. It looked fabulous. I would order if we ever decided to go back, but that won't be happening.

Well it certainly was worth getting lost on the way from Lake Geneva. I love supper clubs and this one is fantastic!! The room is filled with stuffed fowl and we were the youngest people dining by 20 years. So they start you off with crackers, bread, and cheese. I got the combo of a petit fillet and 1.4 duck o'lorange and the wife had the cherries jubilee duck. Some of the finest duck I've ever eaten. And the had pheasant on the menu which I was really curious about. Almost forgot to mention that each meal comes with soup or salad. I had an amazing duck-vegetable soup and the wife had the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing. They give you so much food, that we couldn't even look at the desert tray. And our tab was $75 with a nice bottle of wine. We were livin the high life.

My wife and I have eaten at the "Duckie" many times and we love it. There is a huge bar and you don't need to worry about drunken 21-year-olds getting in fights - this is definitely an older crowd - a good mix of 30-70 year-olds. Drinks are generous. Everything I've had here has been very good - from fresh fish to shrimp to chicken and beef. Soups and salads are excellent. The Friday fish fry is great - get there early or a little late to avoid a wait. The atmosphere is classy.

The best dining experience of our weekend. Please...if you are anywhere near here give the Friday fish fry a whirl. Priced $10 to $15 depending on your all-you-can-eat choice (cod baked or fried, perch, smelt, or shrimp). You have a choice of french fries or potato pancakes....thick, plump, and fried to perfection....not the flat grated ones you'd expect. Apple sauce, tartar sauce, and cole slaw is served to the whole table. Our party of 5 ordered the cod, cooked both ways, and the shrimp. The first serving was so plentiful that no one asked for seconds. We were also given "to go" boxes for what we couldn't finish. We also ordered extra potato pancakes to go. The atmosphere was rustic and cozy. Our server was young but knew what she was doing. She made wine suggestions, was attentive and very personable. Despite as being listed as "dressy" we found that casual dress is perfectly acceptable. I would recommend reservations as this place is very popular even though it seems to be in the middle of no where.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! I had the Duck al'orange. So good. The atmosperere is great as well. Very rustic and kinda outdoorsy, lots of wood with a bit of class. This place is constantly packed. Very well known in the area for the quality of food. My parents say the fish there is very good as well and my sister inlaw ranted and raved about the baked cod served not in portions but large filets.
