I went to dinner on Thursday night. The place was not full so slow service could not be blamed on that. We were seated at about 6:10 PM. We ordered wine and that took a while and then the time between getting the order for dinner and getting dinner was about 2 hours. It does not seem it was the wait staff, but more of kitchen management of the meal. They even took our desert order at the same time we ordered the main course. And desert was slow to appear after the main course plates were cleared. The food was good and I liked the mango desert. But the time between courses and the time to actually eat was painful for me and my two guests who were clients and live in the area. I am not the first to experience slow times at dinner. I asked a friend who lives in the area and he had the same experience. It's too bad that this aspect of the restaurant suffers because the food is very good. I would pass on going again.

Very cool place, both elegant, yet old school at the same time. We were here to watch a two man band on a Friday night. Great intimate place to watch a show. Get here early if you want a seat though!

The Good: beef tenderloin was excellent, 1 person liked the walleye, 1 person liked the duck. The Bad: 1 person felt taking the skin off the walleye was a chore and left most of it, 1 person said their duck breast was only warm. The Ugly: a young female server asked "are you still working on that?" I expect that at Denny's, not at Andrews.

Superb food and excellent service in the setting of an historic hotel. The management goes out of the way to serve their customers, too.

We go to Andrew's often for breakfast & lunch...always great service & fantastic food! When the weather permits, I love dining on the outdoor patio.

Some friends and I took a day trip to Delafield, WI, and met at this restaurant which is in the Hotel Delafield. While the town itself was kind of a bust, the restaurant was an excellent find. Delafield is a very small town, located on a lake, so pretty much a resort community, and it is about a 20 minute drive west of Milwaukee, just off I-94. The Delafield Hotel, I had thought from reading an article a few months back, was not as it turns out, and old hotel. Instead it is housed in what used to be an old warehouse, which was renovated in 1995. You cannot tell by looking at it, though, that is isn't an old hotel. It has that walnut-paneled, classy, clubby look everywhere. Andrew's bar and restaurant is in the hotel. We were the only patrons on a Saturday afternoon. Matt the bartender was a very friendly guy (and undoubtedly happy to see customers.) He chatted us up about the history of the place and recommended the turkey/roasted pepper panini. I ended up ordering that sandwich. My friends had the angus burger, a shrimp/scallop caesar salad, and a Nueske ham, cheddar and fig preserve panini. The food was well-prapared and infused with great complimentary flavors, such as delicious mayos and sauces on the sandwiches. A little bit pricey, but definitely a good spot for a special occasion lunch with friends. I wouldn't make Delafield a destination, necessarily, unless you or a fiend has a place on the lake with a boat. It's one of those new, well-scrubbed, old-fashioned "faux towns" which are popping up everywhere. Full of "foofy" boutiques and gift shops, but not a decent antiques place anywhere in town. One funny story from our search for fig jam (so we can make our own cashew butter, fig jam and morbier paninis like they have at The Hop Leaf.) My friend Doug at my urging went into a small gourmet market in the center of town looking for the fig jam. After much hemming and hawing about whether they had it, the clerk advised him that "we don't have fig jam but we have these fig preserves!" Gosh darn those knucklehead cheeseheads. They just crack me up! This would be a good spot if you were in Lake Geneva, and wanted to take a day drive. You can take route 83 north to Delafield. It passes through some scenic spots since you are on the southern end of The Kettle Moraine area. Nice rustic windy roads through scenic farms and small towns like Mukwanago and Genesee Depot. You can get a dose of authentic rural before the surreal experience of Delafield.

A nice spot for a quiet date. My wife and I made reservations for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We were running a few minutes behind, so we called ahead to make sure our names would not be skipped over. We were politely told it would not be a problem, and would be seated when we arrived. We pulled up to a beautiful hotel that looked as though it has been meticulously manicured for close to a century. At the time, I did not pay much attention to that we were one of 3 or 4 vehicles in the parking lot. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by beautiful wood work and towering ceilings. The bar area, like the parking lot, was empty. Not even a bar tender. A waiter walking by welcomed us, and took us to our seat. We walked through the main dining room, where one other couple was seated, to a very private booth near the back of the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly, and personable. The menu was tailored to the season with a couple steak, fowl, and fish selections. I'll admit, it was nice to be in a restaurant that didn't have 30 burger and sandwich selections on its dinner menu, and a full page dedicated to Mac & Cheese and Corn Dogs. The wine and drink list was decent, and covered the full spectrum. We ordered by the glass, but if it were a Friday or Saturday, and didn't have to pay a sitter, I could have stayed for the bottle. My wife ordered the fillet. Although I'm not a big fan, (I prefer more marbled cut like a NY or rib eye) I did try a bite, and it was one of the best steaks I've had in quite awhile. After difficult deliberation between duck or pheasant, I went with Roast Duck. I'm sure it's was the right choice, it was excellent. Tender, moist, and seasoned to perfection. For dessert, we shared Creme Brûlée. With the bar being set so high from a great meal, the Creme brûlée came up short. Although, we did have a good laugh at the waiter's expense. Our first Creme brûlée ended up on a wall and in the carpet. We did not see it happen, but we did hear the CRASH, the "Oh Man", and some random comments from other staff members. Maybe because it was just after thanksgiving and a Monday night, but Andrew's was empty. The atmosphere, menu and prices all fit. However, do not be fooled. This is not some local treasure that has been around for generations, thought I don't think they are intentionally trying to pull one over on us. Andrew's has definitely done a wonderful job of providing a warm, and classy place to get a delicious meal.

The food is always very good at Andrew's and it is the best place in Lake Country from a decent business lunch.

My husband and i went here for our first anniversary given that we had our wedding reception at The Delafield Hotel. We had a cocktail at the bar before dinner and the bartender was very nice. The restaurant was fairly busy. Our server was fairly decent, although he messed up and brought my husband the monkfish instead of the salmon. He was very courteous about the mistake and fixed it. My husband had the salmon and I had the filet. Both entrees were delicious and were served with a house salad and bread. We were very happy with the quality of the food.

On a cold day, there is something to be said about atmosphere. Andrew's makes one feel as though you will never find a warmer place. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, and they only add to the charm that is present here. I highly recommend a night cap AND dessert, if you are unable to stop in for dinner. With a new head and pastry chef on board, you will experience the talent that has been brought on. Smart moves on Andrew's part. The warm apple tart with homemade caramel sauce? Slap yo mama good. Well, at least I can guarantee that your mama never made anything this good. The pastry chef has the tart shell down to a science, and you can taste the salty and the sweet, and the collision of the warm, tart apple and cool vanilla bean ice cream. This is true dessert joy, and with a hot cup of coffee, it was impossible to feel the wintry chill that was blowing outside.

Let me start by saying, Andrew's has changed hands a couple of times since Andy Ruggeri first opened it. From what I understand, it started out great, then I went and it wasn't great, and now a couple years later, it's awesome. We went for brunch on a Sunday morning on a whim, so I don't know if they even take reservations, we were just seated right away. They asked if we wanted to eat in the dining room, but we opted for a booth, which was a far better choice. Each booth is almost like its own private room with soft lighting, and a soothing mix of pop standards playing over the speakers. Who knew breakfast could be so romantic? My wife ordered Andrew's Eggs Benedict, which I thought was totally amazing. It was a deviation from the traditional Benedict with a layer of Camembert cheese between the muffin and the egg, but I thought the cheese was subtle enough, and gave the whole dish a different, sort of earthy taste. Her fresh-squeezed orange juice was perfect. I ordered the Peach Ginger French Toast with a side of bacon and coffee. My cup was only filled once and the bacon never came at all, but the French toast was so good I can't even think about anything else. The sweet cream that came on the side was a delicious alternative to the standard maple syrup, and the peaches were great. This was a great experience. I was a little worried I might be underdressed for the restaurant until I saw a table of people who had obviously just come from Be Fitness next door in their tennies and shorts. "OK, we're good."

Long wait for food (35 -40 minutes btw salad & main course), cold soup, extremely salty walleye, scallops drowned in rich sauce (same with Root Vegetable Streudel). If you have to dine here, have a salad and get out! Top buck for poor food & service

Our server tried to rip us off. I really thought I'd be able to write a positive review of this place. Unfortunately, our sneaky server thought he'd pull a fast one on us and "pad" the bill to increase his tip. We drove up from the Chicago burbs to visit our son who is currently stationed with the Army Reserve in nearby Pewaukee. Since we wanted to provide him with a nice upgrade from Army food, I did some research and found Andrew's We really liked the decor and the food and drinks were good. My wife, however, had had a big lunch and only ordered an appetizer and soup. Our server apparently thought that two entrees for a party of three would have an unacceptable downward pull on his gratuity, so he added another round of drinks to our bill thinking we wouldn't notice. He doesn't know my wife though. When the check arrived, she spotted the discrepancy immediately and called him on it. We try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and at first assumed it was an honest mistake. But, the reaction of an honest person would be either defensive ("No, I'm sure you had that many drinks") or embarrassed ("Oh my gosh, how did that happen!?"). Instead, our server merely said "I'll fix it", picked up the check and walked away. What this jerk did not realize is that both my wife and I worked in restaurants during college and tend to be very generous tippers. My wife would have adjusted the tip to compensate for the fact that we did not order three entrees. As it was, instead of leaving him no tip (which is what he deserved), she left 15% (which, IMO, was more than generous considering the stunt he pulled).

Andrew's is one of my favorite places to dine. The bar and restaurant staff have been friendly, attentive and knowledgable in each visit, all things I look for in an establishment that keeps me returning to their pleasant, colonial ambiance.

Andrew's is in the beautiful Delafield Hotel (not historic but nice nonetheless) and the decor througout is reminiscent of the old hunting and railroad days. We were greeted at the outside doors by two charming young men from the military academy around the corner. In the bar/lobby area, there was some sort of gathering going on, and there were lots of sophisticated city types sipping wine and chatting. (Later on a 3 piece live band played in this space and we got to enjoy their music.) There were 7 of us so we were seated in a private room with a large square table and period paintings on the walls. Our waitress (Deanna) was very friendly and totally helpful and constantly went out of her way to accomodate us. The menu was short (which I like) and it sounds like the offerings are constantly changing. I ordered the night's special which was chocolate rubbed short ribs with a sweet potato mash and grilled peppers. It was large and savory and so tender it slid right off the fork. It came with the option of the house salad at no extra cost. I was wary of the bland-sounding salad (mixed greens w/ onions and tomatoes) but it was delicious! The dressing and greens were just perfect. Afterward we ordered three deserts to share - the profiteroles, the ginger carrot cake, and the creme brulee. All good, as was the wine we ordered. We had a long, enjoyable dinner assisted by gracious and patient service. If I lived in the area I would definitely go back!

Like Brian said above, beware of the wastewater treatment center. Beautiful view, but the treatment center was there first, silly developer thought no one would notice.

Situated in the pictureous Delafield downtown. Andrew is right inside the Delafield hotel which has classic decòr with elegant furnitures through out. Dishes ate some how limited but very tasty. Price is on the high side - $46 for a filet, $38 for scallops but no doubt all nicely and delicious prepared. Services are definitely 5 stars- very knowledgable and pleasant, "invisible" but always there before you even asked. Verandah is a perfect place to enjoy the wine flights in the afternoon. Lives music/band over the weekend in the bar. Different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Definitely the most formal elegant restaurant in the lake country.

Good spot for a slightly-fancy meal. We randomly had to wait in an empty room for two minutes before anyone came in to seat us, but I guess that's okay. I got their soup and quiche of the day - potato and fennel for soup, caramelized onion, tomato and goat cheese for quiche. It came with a bread basket (that I shamelessly polished off single-handedly as my table mates were gluten free and had their own GF bread basket), a simple side salad and a side of fruit. I always judge restaurants on the quality of their fruit bowls, as I think it's so lame to get a bowl that is 90% honeydew, 5% melon and 5% of the stuff you actually want - strawberries, grapes, pineapple. This one did have one piece of melon in it but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rest. A kiwi slice even snuck in there. I thought the atmosphere was a little stuffy but I think that's the vibe they're going for. All in all, good food and service. I'd come back!

I stayed at the hotel - AMAZING hotel for a peaceful small town getaway, but anyway, the restaurant; I ate there THREE times (Breakfast & Dinner Room service, & Dinner in restaurant). The breakfast I had was their homemade granola & yogurt with fruit & coffee - awesome. Simple & healthy. Dinners - first night I had the Pan-Seared Salmon & the Petit Greens salad - it was amazing, fresh, moist, not overcooked at all. The sauce with it was amazing as well (Wild rice - Dried door county cherries - Cinnamon - Arulgula. It was a healthy light but filling meal that was excellent, every bite. Second night I had the Petite Greens again (loved it that much) with Duet Pinn Oaks Ridge Farm Lamb (Grilled Loin & Braised Shoulder with lentils, celery root, turnip, celery root, swiss chard & raisin. I have never had lamb this good - it was amazing. I couldn't decide if I liked the Shoulder or the Loin better - both tender, cooked to perfection, tender, juicy & flavorful. For dessert I had the Brown Butter Apple Tart & Hot Cider Toddy - Also awesome! The atmosphere was great with historical feel, 1930's & 40's tunes playing, nostalgic artwork & genuinely friendly & attentive staff who make you feel at home. I met the chef - she was down to earth, friendly & excited to serve - clearly loving the environment & work. Top notch meal both in room & in the restaurant. Well worth the money, not like a typical fancy restaurant - extremely nice but comfortable & warm. Would highly recommend to anyone.
