Club 45 was a winter wonderland paradise. Great north woods vibe. Huge deep dish pizza (better than Chicago). Snowmobile trails lead right to the bar. Owners were super nice and fun! GO NOW - I'll buy the first round !!
Cheaps beers, good little selection, and the best cheese curds I've ever had (you can even get a half serve which is perfect.) It's a tradition to ride our bikes here from the family cabin (it's a wobbly ride home!) Super friendly bar staff & free wifi! It's great to sit out on the deck or closer down by the lake.
We were up for the weekend in Sept and the Bears were playing the Pack that Sunday. Had a total blast - place was super crowded with fans but the service was great. They had free hot appetizers and gumbo during the game which was yum. Free slices of the their amazing thin pizza were brought to the tables as soon as it came out of the oven. Also ordered a deep dish House of Payne while we were watching the game. Dave didn't like how it was baking, so he started one over again for us. He brought over 2 beers to us for the inconvenience of the extra wait. A must-stop if you head up North.
First time poster. You will never get a bad review from me. If I have an issue, I always take it up with management rather than ruin a reputation so I just won't write anything if it's a bad experience. This place deserves the best I have to offer. North woods supper clubs are fine but if you are up here and want a change of pace, this is an excellent alternative. Service was great. Had Scott taking care of us and he did a superb job. The cocktails were generous and Scott knew his stuff all the way around. He shared that what we were thinking of ordering were top sellers and I can see why. The potato soup was broth based with cream giving it a nice light balance with plenty of potato and green onion. We both ordered salad with lemon vinaigrette that was enough to bring us back. My wife's tenderloin tips and gnocchi were everything you would expect. Meat was tender, gnocchi was delicate yet al dente. Rich sauce with bits of tomato was just right. My chicken saltimbocca was incredible (I never order chicken but love saltimbocca). The prosciutto, cheese and spinach along with the velvety masala sauce was a perfect compliment to the chicken breast. We didn't have room for desert but it all was home made and sounded terrific.
I don't know WHAT the other reviewers liked about this place. It smells. It's expensive. The service is nonexistent as far as I can tell. We were there for at least a half hour before anyone even acknowledged us. When someone finally spoke to us, all they said was 20 minute wait. It was a Tuesday night in the off-season! Our table was full of half-eaten food from the previous party the whole time. No one bused the table. Even though the bar was right by our table, nobody ever acknowledged us, offered us drinks, or anything. We weren't into spending a hard-earned $100 for two meals at a place where we felt invisible. Instead, we blew the place off & went down Hwy 45 South to Green Hills Log Cabin Bar where the food was great, service was excellent & everyone made us feel at home. Don't waste your money or time on Lanny's. They think waay too much of themselves.
Mediocre at best. Walleye had bones in it. Seafood pasta was tasteless. Stuffed walleye was tasteless. Would not visit again.
Great place to eat on the trail. I had the tacos that were the special and they were great. My wife had a chicken sandwich that she enjoyed. The fresh popcorn was a nice touch. The popcorn popper never seemed to stop. We would stop here again.
We stopped in last night for the fish fry. Somewhat busy but we were able to be seated without a wait. We were camping nearby and found this place on yelp. Overall it was a great experience. Food was cooked well, came in large portions and at very reasonable prices. We got a combo basket as the starter and it came with so much food! We had the curds, tenders and jalapeño poppers. All of it was great but I just couldn't get over how much food was there! Also, great bloody Mary's and my spotted cow was only $2.50 regular price. As for the fish fry, you have the option of perch or haddock and your regular sides. I had the haddock and it was lightly breaded, not greasy at all and while nothing spectacular, it was good and satisfied my fish fry craving. I don't eat tarter but I heard from others in my group that it was kind of weird. Lastly, we had absolutely wonderful service. Our waitress quickly picked up our indecision and offered suggestions and was just very friendly and likeable. Also saw her talking to other tables with kids and she was so sweet and friendly. Also, we didn't get the pizza but it looked awesome! I definitely recommend checking this place out.
We've been going here for breakfast for about 2 years now, usually about every other weekend. The food is always great, but with the service we had the last time we were there, we will never be going back. Our waitress was rude and disrespectful, so we left her a tip that reflected that. Our group was standing outside when we were done, and she walked out, handed us our tip back and told us that we didn't tip her enough. I'm a bartender myself so I understand how the industry goes, but there was absolutely no reason for that.
My parents brought me to this place 20+ years ago when I was a kid. Loved it then, loved it now. The pizza is WAY better than Tombstone and the owners are more than friendly. I was the first and only person in the bar for quite a while and had some great converation over some PBRs and during the Brewers game! By the way, the first thing we did when we walked in when I was a kid was put Pink Cadillac on the jukebox. Same jukebox, same great tunes!
Wonderful place. You MUST figure out the notes on the window. If you don't, ask. It will make your visit. Had a great trip down memory road on my visit.
I give it an A for northwoods atmosphere. Would give it a D+ for friendliness. The old owners are obviously worn out and tired of the business. They struggle to be nice and you can tell they are just tolerating the customers. The bar is really cool. Food has been ok the times I've eaten there. Great wildlife viewing behind the bar. Would be a perfect place with new ownership that were motivated and had personality.
