We went to Morton's based on the recommendation of a local shopkeeper who heard us talking about the long wait at the Farmstead. We went to Morton's for dinner and really enjoyed ourselves! We had the fried mushrooms - they were huge and good! I had the Brat and Cheese soup (really good) and the garlic, blue cheese steak (also really good). My wife has the crabcake sandwich, and she said it was great. Service was very good, and friendly!

Pros: French onion soup Cons: service, cost, all the other food The French onion soup was as good as advertised by all other reviews. However. The food is quite pricey for the overall generally mediocre quality. The service was atrocious, there were 4 tables in the restaurant and 2 waitstaff and our waitress had to be flagged down for refills, the bill and to pay the bill. Unless you are dying for good French onion soup, I'd look elsewhere.

It's a nice place with a good vibe... but it's not run especially well. I understand the problem... there's nowhere for anyone to wait for a table. It's a small room with people eating... and a bunch of vultures looking on and waiting to be seated. It was cramped, but still fun. The food was pretty mediocre, unfortunately. The scissor thing with the french onion soup is a cute idea, but the soup is nothing special. Way too salty and just not that good. I also shared a Reuben, which was better than the soup... but that isn't saying much.

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. I did Yelp beforehand and wish I would have listened to the rest of the terrible reviews. Unless you are one of the "regulars" who sits at the bar, you are nobody. Our drink cups weren't filled up unless we asked, the servers were unfriendly, after we ordered it took nearly an hour for our two sandwiches and a bowl of soup to come, the food was cold, the bread was hard, and we had to track down our server for the check. Trust the rest of the horrible reviews and STAY AWAY!

The food was great! Serving the French onion soup with a scissors...genius! Our server Erin had excellent customer service, however, the bartender, not so much. It was Super Bowl Sunday, and we asked if she could turn up the sound on the TV. Her response, "You're killing me." She turned it up for the halftime show, then immediately shut it off once it was over. We would have stayed and spent more money there, but the only the only music she would play was the Beatles. I like the Beatles, but come on... It's Super Bowl Sunday!

Grilled Veggies are a must, steaks are a must, French onion soup is a must. But, one of my biggest pet peeves, horrible service.

I came here during the Ozaukee County Fair weekend with a group of friends. We actually did the wine tour and then came here for a bite to eat. The food wasn't all that impressive but the inside decor was amazing and definitely eye catching at all angles. The place had a nice warm cozy feel to it, seemed like a lot of locals frequent the place regularly. The staff/servers made us feel very welcomed and comfortable, and took our orders right away. I ordered the cheese steak and fries, both items were dry and hard. I tried dipping one of the four big steak potatoes in ketchup and it still didn't help. The cheese steak sandwich appeared to be served on french bread, which was a typical french bread selection but it wasn't buttered or warm. Plus they sprinkled paprika over the bread and onto the plate, a unique touch to try to spruce up an otherwise boring entree. The cheese was melted on top of the lettuce which made for an unappealing, unaesthetic sight. If you're going to serve cheese and lettuce together on a sandwich, shouldn't the cheese be melted before putting the lettuce on, so the lettuce can maintain some of its crispiness and be placed on top of the melted cheese? Or maybe that's just a matter of personal choice or preparation style. I've heard that they have great bloody marys and awesome ribs, so maybe I should have ordered that instead. For the $20 I spent on this meal, the best thing was the cool refreshing glass of coca cola soda, and of course a great time spent with friends on a beautiful summer night!

This is mainly a rating based on the food: A really awesome, old style atmosphere. Most similar to the style of a Brit pub. Good beer selection. Seems like a great place to have a drink and watch a game. The food was just okay. Nothing special. I wouldn't recommend coming here just for the food, but if you're here for a drink, there's enough of a selection to grab a bite of you want it.

Ate here before, but a few years ago. Food was outstanding then. We were in area again and it stood out. Should have known when you walk in to a place on a Friday nite and it is 25% full. We decided to do the fish fry. We had blue gill and cod. Blue gill was good. Cod was over fried to the point that one piece was crunchy all the way thru. Cole slaw was a lite brown very dry and peppery. Being in " the business" for over 20 years, I would have never let that cod dinner or slaw go out of the kitchen. I was so disappointed I did not want to complain. Service was good, but the place had 2 bartenders, 4 ppl at the bar we still had to wait for the wait staff to bring our drink order after 10min. A lil team work on taking care of a customer. Ok enough said on my part.

Very disappointed. Always liked going here, so close and like to go local. Everything was off including the waitress who could of cared less how our dinner was. Dinners we have previously loved were salty, undercooked and not what we have always had. Very sad because this place has changed

My partner and I were in Cedarburg Sunday night, on a holiday weekend. We didn't expect as many restaurants to be closed as there were. Thankfully, Morton's was open. There are a lot of mixed reviews for this place. I believe our experience shows those mixed reviews are not justified. Morton's is a typical Wisconsin supper club / bar. If you're looking for fancy, go somewhere else. Upon entry, no one greets you, but it was easy enough to find a seat. We were approached by a server fairly quickly, and she took our drink orders as well as our food order at the same time. We were looking for the Filet, but knew neither of us could eat one alone. Our server was gracious enough to allow us to split the twin Filets between the two of us including splitting all of the side dishes. She delivered an extra large salad, that was fresh and tasty. The Peppercorn Parmesan dressing was just the right touch. While waiting for the main entree, we were entertained by the various characters at the bar and at the tables around us. If you don't enjoy bar banter, again this is not the place to go. After a reasonable wait, our entree was delivered. The twins Filets and accompanying sides were more than enough for two people. The Filets were cooked to perfection with a garlic butter topping, yum. But I ask you, what restaurant do you know serves acorn squash? It was delicious!!! The seasoning and spices used on the Filet made this meal outstanding. Add to that an attentive waitress and the overall supper club ambience; what more could you ask for?

The bloody marys were on the small side here but they were bloody good. More zesty than spicy thanks to a lemon wedge, the breakfast-in-a-glass really packs a punch. The pickle spear, shrimp, olive and sausage will get rid of that hangover in a jiffy. Comes with a beer chaser that I would rather have traded in for more bloody mary. Morton's also has some breakfast/brunch specials. The Slammer (which you can get with chicken or steak) might sound to you like a breakfast burrito, but in reality it's more of a chicken or steak quesadilla topped with scrambled eggs and salsa. The boiled potatoes that come on the side are pretty good thanks to the addition of copious amounts of bacon. Their lunch/dinner menu also looked pretty good; can't go wrong with a burger and fries. And if you're too drunk to read all of that, just remember: bloody mary.

I really enjoyed the food and ambiance. The baked French onion soup had so much cheese, it comes accompanied by a pair of little scissors! It doesn't get much better than that! It was so delicious and filling that by the time our jalapeno cheese brats with mounds of delicious onion rings arrived, we could barely eat anything at all. It's sad other reviewers had poor service. I thought the service was perfectly acceptable.

Ironically sat underneath Herbie Husker on the ceiling... it was meant to be. The french onion soup was ok, could have been hotter temp wise. The breaded mushrooms were really good. The burger was dry but the pulled pork sandwich was tasty. I asked for my side item to be the steak fries... I received 5 fries in total. A-ok, I'd probably go back.

So after stumbling around downtown Cedarburg (we may or may not have had some amazing drinks at both the winery AND the brewery before we ate...) we decided we needed some food in our stomachs, and we needed it THEN. Bob, our winery expert, suggested Morton's for dinner. He is a local, so we trust his opinion! We were a little confused because when people say "Mortons" around Chicago, we think "Steakhouse". Turns out we couldn't be further from the truth!! This place (which was kiddie corner to the inn we were staying at--perfect stumbling distance!) is a quaint little bar with a small-town atmosphere. It was very swank, very laid back. Perfect for a nice little meal and some drinks! however, it was VERY busy on a Friday night, and you might have to get cozy and rub a few elbows. If that makes you uncomfortable, then this is not the place for you! Our server was good, don't get me wrong, but she was a little heavy on the pouting and the attitude. Sort of like we were bothering her by being there. That being said, the food and drinks were delicious! They were featuring Fireball Whiskey in their little menu. If you have never had this, you NEED it! It is like taking a shot of something that tastes like those yummy Redhot candies :) Soooo delicious and smooth going down! We ordered the buffalo wings as an appetizer, and they were HOT HOT HOT. Way too spicy for my white-girl palette! For an entree, my husband ordered the enchiladas, and those were really good. They came with a side of rice. I was just going to eat some of his food, if I was still hungry after my side salad and my french onion soup. Let me tell you about this French Onion Soup. There is SO MUCH CHEESE in the soup, that they come with a pair of safety scissors to cut through the cheese because a spoon isn't going to help you! You have been warned! Overall, it was a very pleasant meal, and we will be back if we trek to Cedarburg again :)

What can I say.... This place came recommended by someone who worked at TJ Ryan's. My husband and I figured we would give it a try instead of going to our usually pizza spot. The decor was kind of wierd - it looked like a little corner bar that belongs in a small town that is full of hunters. The food was okay - I had a build your own burger and it was cooked like how I wanted it to be done. Although, I felt that the burger needed a little more seasoning (it was a little bland). Otherwise, it was fine...for the most part. Although the kicker that got me was that once we got the bill, we noticed that they charged us $2.25 for 2 cups of water with lemon....seriously? Usually when I go somewhere, it's free. That just left a bad taste in my mouth...ugh.

For the area- the food is probs the best around. We liked it over farmstead. What to get: *surprisingly their Mexican dishes are good ** best thing here- French onion soup * steak with blue cheese What not to get: *their wings. They are the size of actual fryer chicken legs. So gross *no surprise their stir fry Why they get 2 stars over three stars. 1) this is on a scale. The food in the area is not good 2) SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. ONE WAITRESS IS THE RUDEST WAITRESS I'VE EVER WITNESSED. Time after time. She must be a family member of the owner because she sincerely just doesn't care at all. It's actually almost funny how apparently rude she is.

I had never been to Cedarburg but went there to explore with some friends last weekend. On the advice of a local bartender we went to Morton's. And I must say I was really surprised how good the food was. *****Here is what you need to know**** -Don't let the outside steer you away. It may look like just another local old bar but they really do have above average bar food. -Get the French Onion soup. It was a little salty (which is fine by me) but they give you these cool little plastic scissors to cut the long stringy bits of cheese that you get when you try and eat this soup. Awesome idea. -Don't go here if you want to eat and watch a sporting event at the same time. They have maybe 2 tv's both on the same wall and I was sat with my back to them so I missed the Badger's game. So I had the Fajita salad (I have no idea why I ordered this, for some reason it sounded good) and it was good. Got it with steak and they had basically stir fry veggies on the salad (baby corns and all) but it was totally good. So what if there is a piece of broccoli in my fajita, just put some guacamole on it and it is great. My friend got a Tenderloin sandwhich and I could kick myself for not ordering it because it was really good and cooked perfect med-rare like she asked. I would go again if I find myself in Cedarburg, but will make sure I get half acorn squash side I saw someone eating, it looked yummy.

Food: The food I've had at Morton's - especially the fish fry - has been very good to exceptional. The fish fry is certainly one of the best I've had anywhere. Atmosphere: Morton's is small, often crowded, and a bit noisy. Somehow at the time I wrote this review, it was listed as Kid Friendly, which I disagree with. The bathrooms are full of pinup photos, which I'm personally fine with, but wouldn't feel comfortable having a young child see. Service: The service has been hit or miss. I'd say it's been miss more often than hit. I've never had a terrible experience, but like other reviewers, have sometimes felt like the server felt inconvenienced by my presence.

I originally vetoed this restaurant based on its outward appearance. It looked like your average small town bar that offers an abundance of fried foods, so we planned on going elsewhere. I'm so glad we ended up going back because our meals were incredible!! I had a rib-eye which was huge and cooked perfectly. My husband had the swordfish was also huge and flavorful. They bring out a lot of food (loved the squash!) and the prices were just right. We dined there on a Friday night, so I was able to check out the parade of fish fry plates going to other tables. Wow, that look incredible too! We got there early, around 5:15pm, so there were only a few tables occupied. When we left around 6:45pm most of the tables were filled, but the noise level still seemed reasonable. Don't judge Morton's on its appearance or you'll miss out on a delicious meal.

Ordered Chicken Wings and got Chicken Tenders...other than that, things went well until I ordered a second beer and our server brought only the check. Message received...we're outta here.

This place deserved to be busier than it was when we stumbled upon it Sunday afternoon. Cedarburg's numbering system is not user-friendly for out of towners; just know that this little bar is one block west of the main drag and it's on Center St. That said........we walked into the bar around noon on a Sunday and decided to try something off the menu board. I had the Andouille Hash and my husband had something I think was called Joel's Big Dog. Oh, but before that, we had the most wonderful Bloody Mary's (which they serve with a sidecar....in this case, a lager). The Bloody Mary's almost qualified as a food item....they had the pickle spear, a large shrimp, an olive, and a slice of sausage. Never seen anything like it, really. Our waitress, contrary to some of the other reviews, was very sweet and helpful in a non-obtrusive way. She warned me that the Andouille Hash was spicy. She was right.....lots of Tobasco in that dish. I was forewarned, and I liked it although I would probably order something else if I was in there again. The hash consisted of the andouille sausage slices, potatoes, creamy sauce liberally laced with the above-mentioned Tobasco, and topped off with two perfectly poached eggs. Also served with a great slice of multigrain bread which had been cooked on a grill. There was enough to feed two people. My husband loved his "dog". It was a hoagie with their homemade sausage, eggs, etc. He made the comment, and I agreed, that if we were locals, this would be a place we would be coming to consistently. As far as ambiance, it's a bar (which I love little bars), and it's interesting and cozy with lots of beer signs and memorabilia. We liked it.

The service was, like everyone else has said, not great. The waitress struggled to make eye contact and was distant for most of the meal. We ate on the lighter side for dinner - no entree with the squash that people have raved about. The food we ordered was standard WI - deep fried, heavy, and tasted just okay. We recently moved from San Francisco so not much around this area has lived up to our standards.

Very good food. Very interesting specials (the jerk red snapper on pineapple is great). Decent beer selection. The last time we went, service was slow. Maybe that was to be expected on a Friday night, but the wait staff was defensive instead of apologetic. The decor is interesting. I agree with Jessica's post, it is schizophrenic. But I like brewerania, so I like it. I think Guy Fieri should feature this restaurant in an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, because the food is really good and the ambiance is humble.

Love Morton's Bloody Mary's, Burgers and onion straws. Do not love the servers....I mean seriously....what gives? It can't be a bad day....they are the same very time we visit. Obviously we are addicted to the food and drink....we keep returning and dealing with the bad service. Silly us.

Just went into Morton's on Friday night this past week and of course had the Fish Fry. The food was good and the there was plenty of it... I was there with my parents (who are from FL) and we wanted something local in Cedarburg since we were there seeing a friend. This was about as local as you could get. The walls and ceiling are covered in beer signs, which was much better than the tacky places that have $1 bills all over the wall or are covered in bra's! All in all, the fish fry was good and the place was crowded. Service was marginal, but we didn't care as we were engrossed in conversation the entire time. I will go back and try the squash for sure.

We've been to Morton's several times over the years, as has the other couple we went with on a Sunday night. There was only one other table in at that time and they were finished with their dinner, so there shouldn't have been a problem with service or our food. That being said, our waitress could have cared less. She was adequate, but nothing else. Three out of four of us ordered steaks, all requesting medium rare. We received them medium to medium-well. Mine in particular was also over charbroiled (burnt) on part of the outside. When we flagged another waitress over to tell her, she proceeded to look at mine and when I said it was really more medium-well, she replied, "No. That's not medium-well, but I guess it's medium." Well, thanks hon but I expect my $22 filet to be medium-rare like I ordered it. By the time we received our replacements, my husband was done with his swordfish (which he liked). Disappointing experience for the prices charged. As other reviewers have said, the kitschy of the decor is fine, but could you overall clean it better? The carpet is filthy, the tables are sticky, and when I reached on the underside of my chair to scoot it forward, well I needed to go wash my hands. Also, in order to take a good look at my steak I needed to use the flashlight app on my phone. The lighting is so dark in there, it's pretty ridiculous. I'm not sure how the waitress could even see that my steak was medium, in her opinion. That was our final time going out of our way to go there. It's a 45 minute drive for us, and it definitely has gone done hill. It's not worth the effort anymore.

I stooped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the large menu with lots of healthy options. I had the shrimp coctail and the grilled veggie platter. This is the best grilled veggie platter I have had in Wisconsin. There was a great variety of vegetables and there were lots of them. The shrimp was very good as well. The staff was friendly and the service was good. I wish this place was closer to home.

The food used to be much better. The food used to be excellent so I'm not sure what happened. I used to go more but now I only go 1-2 times per year hoping something changes like the food gets better or the wait staff is actually more pleasant. Sadly, the wait staff is rude and makes you feel like you are bothering them. (especially the shorter older lady with spikey hair.) The walls are filled with unique signs and you'll never get bored looking around.

We go here on a regular basis and love the food. Fun atmosphere, reliable food with great portions, homemade soups, specials on most night including Mexican night on Wed and a great fish fry on Friday nights. Many beers served and awesome bloody Marys. Try the garlic infused vodka and spicy bloody mary. All bloodys come with a chaser of beer. Try it out and enjoy!

We like Morton's a lot. They care about their food, and the quality of the ingredients they use shows that. Fantastic hamburgers grilled over charcoal and other Classic Wisconsin tavern food. The atmosphere is kitschy fun too.

On most nights, this place provides excellent service, top notch bar food, and a great atmosphere. However, on a recent trip to Mortons, we were treated like we were an inconvenience to the staff. Staff took order, did not make eye contact, and seemed disappointed that we wanted to start with an appetizer. App came, tasted great, onto the next course. We ordered Blue Cheese and Jalapeno Burger (A++) and Reuben (B). When plates came, waitress slammed them down and quickly scurried away. Waitress was obviously upset she had to wait on us, which made us feel quite awkward and unwelcome. Although there were other tables in the place being served as well, she continued to stomp around and text on her phone--completely ignoring to ask how things were and follow up on tables. We'll be back, but service on this last visit was absolutely awful. Good food, great bloody marys, great live music, and great service (on most nights...)

Interesting lively atmosphere. Good margarita. Terrible wine selection. Food was mediocre at best. Blue cheese jalapeño burger--asked for medium rare, got shoe leather burnt- was a disaster. Onion rings were pale and pasty. Guacamole tastes like it came from a can.

Ambiance: Pretty standard local corner bar feel. It's a small space so it feels bustling even if it's not. You seat yourself at any one of the 70's dated table and chairs. Lots of beer signs from different breweries/eras tacked to the ceiling. Has that schizophrenic décor vibe going. Food: Burger with Colby, fried onions and Bleu Cheese sauce with steak fries. As per usual I ordered my burger rare and stressed that I like it VERY rare. Once again another restaurant that has no clue what that means. If you aren't going to teach your staff how to cook a burger to temp specifications then just don't offer. All you are doing is pissing people off. My burger was medium and therefore I did not enjoy it. The bleu cheese sauce was good though and I dipped my steak fries into it especially since they were quite dry and had nary a seasoning on them. Deep Fried Cheesecake: Oh holy night. Let's just be clear on this. It's cheesecake, wrapped in pastry , deep fried and served on an anglais type sauce. I could not stop shoving this in my mouth. It was rich and sweet and fried. I would return to this establishment based on the cheesecake alone. I'm a sucker for anything fried. Staff: Average staff, not overly friendly or unfriendly. They did their job and we were taken care of. Bathrooms: Single private bathroom plastered with pictures of pin up men. A young cigarette smoking David Bowie watched me pee, it was delightful. The lock worked, it was relatively clean and it was well stocked.

We went to Morton's because most restaurants had already closed for the day. Our server gave us a slight eye roll when we walked in instead of a smile or a greeting. I sat down with my elderly mother, my husband and my children. Were rushed through ordering with more eye rolling and foot tapping by the waitress. Then I went to wash my hands. I walked out of the women's bathroom because there was no soap (yuck...please tell me employees are not washing their hands in this bathroom). I went into the men's (knocking first) and the bartender asked snootily if I needed to know where the women's bathroom was. I nicely said, oh, there was no soap in there....just looking to wash my hands before I eat. A few minutes later I overheard her talking to our waitress about how pretentious our table was. Because nothing says pretentious like a woman using the men's bathroom, and washing your hands before eating. Then she poured our waitress an alcoholic drink (which she was drinking while working). I guess we were just too much for her. Food wasn't bad. Beer selection okay, but I've seen better. F- for service. Won't. Be. Back.

I used to come here years ago and remember the fajitas being really good. This time I went with the fish tacos. They would've been excellent if it wasn't for the tortillas being so soggy that they ripped. I couldn't even hold the tacos.

Heard so much about Mortons we had to try it. As advertised, we had the best onion soup on the planet, once our server took time to huffily take our order. (She had six tables, three of which had their food. She was overwhelmed and quite nasty) I ordered the spinach salad and it was a huge mistake, as in everything was huge and uncut. Very unpleasant. The spinach leaves were dinner plate size and tough, large uncut cherry tomatoes, small balls of soft mozerella that was soft and nearly old, huge slices of white mushrooms, a very overcooked sliced chicken breast, a handful of unflavored and dime sized pieces of walnut, and a salad dressing that tasted like speghetti sauce thinned down with water, ordered because she "out of any vinagarettes or balsamic dressing". All in all, service was extremely slow, server was very rude, salad was awful, onion soup was awesome and my friends burger was perfect. Thats only two out of five. Not good enough.

I learned two things that I never knew about Bloody Mary. First, Bloody Mary needs to come with a gigantic shrimp. Second, Bloody Mary needs a side beer, evidently. Whatever the case, rules are rules!

Have loved this place for years. Amazing pub grub cooked with a very upscale steakhouse feel to it. The side dish of the baked acorn squash is unique and always a must have. Baked french onion soup comes with a kindergarden pair of scissors to cut the motz. Bloody marys are always served with a ginormous shrimp cocktail and beer chaser. Service is always a little distant, but the food is amazing enough to come back. Sunday brunch is also great - where else can you get a can of PBR and egg benedict without hitting the bayview or eastside hipsters hotspots?

I was in desperate need of a fish fry on a Friday and I thought back to a place I hadn't been in awhile. Not much has changed here since I was last there. I ordered the blackened catfish and it was as good as I remembered. It came with 2 sides: garlic mashed potatoes and an acorn squash. The sides were enough to make a meal out of. The whole dinner was great and service was ok. The place is cramped and seems like a dive, but it's a dive is a nice way.

HOLY ACORN SQUASH BATMAN!! Our B&B recommended this place for dinner one of the nights we stayed in town. Typical local bar ambiance. Lots of regulars, very crowded and loud. The server was, well, slightly odd and not friendly... not mean.. just all business and I don't have time to use any extra words with you. Okay, that's okay.. I can deal with that... we heard the food was good and we were hungry. When our meals came, we certainly were not expecting a big ol half a acorn squash as a side with our meal. I was intrigued in a good way but I mean, nobody told us before hand. I guess they were keeping it a surprise? I don't know, maybe I'm weird but I'd expect a heads up from somebody... "hey get ready there is a half an acorn squash coming on your plate, so don't be shocked!" It was packed with what seemed like a quarter stick of butter and a teaspoon of brown sugar. OH. MY. YUM! It was so good! Very unique and a great idea. I loved it ! We had the fried artichokes, yum. I ordered the swordfish, freaking yummm. Hubby had a burger and gobbled it up. Great menu for a bar. Def we will be back some day!

This place is filthy-stinky, tables all sticky...nasty. They seriously need to take all the kitschy-CRAP off the walls and bleach 'em and paint 'em. Too many years and too much smoke. GROSS!!! Food is mediocre -- but the prices are EXORBITANT!!! Got charged $9 for 2 sodas with lunch. Staff was rude, just seemed too, too put out to be bothered.

The food was bellow average (had ribs, chicken, shrimp starter and artichoke starter). Service of the bartenders (one was the owner) was not friendly. In a tourist town like this I would have expected them to have Wisconsin beers but was offered Goose Island instead!
