Researched Yelp for fish fry close to Brookfield and came across O'Sullivan's Public House. The ratings were better than average so I decided to give it a try. It didn't come close to resembling the public houses of my acquaintance in London but more resembled a WI tavern with dining space. The crowd was local and the staff friendly. I got there late by WI standards, around 8:30 pm so the restaurant area was empty save for 1-2 tables. The menus are printed on common bond paper and I recognized some of the dishes from their Yelp reviews but I was there for the Fri. fish dinner and so ordered a 2 piece cod dinner which came with French fries, coleslaw & a single slice of rye bread. A small plastic cup of tartar sauce accompanied my dinner but no butter for bread either on the table or with dinner. The cod tasted fresh and wasn't overcooked but the breading lacked flavor. This was shared by the fries which badly needed seasoning. The coleslaw was overly sweet. I will probably return & try some of the other menu items but won't revisit the Fri. fish again.

I was in the area for three days for work ... 3 of my friend came with me. We went in on Thursday evening to have a drink and see if the Cardinals game would be showing on Friday. We spent some of Thursday evening, 8 hours on Friday and lunch on Saturday at O'Sullivan's. The owner is very personable, all of the staff wonderful and the food was great. I would highly suggest this place whether you are going to be a one time visitor or a regular customer. This would be our hang out if we lived in the area.

We've eaten here enough times to know that we can always count on getting a great meal! Delicious fish fry -- and the tilapia with mango sauce is awesome. The ribs are incredible. Enchilada soup--yum! We've never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, the waitstaff friendly...and one of the waiters looks just like the driver from Cash Cab. No kidding!

This was the Friday work lunch place this week on Thursday. Every one liked the food with no complaints. I had the Shepard's pie which is something I have never had so I don't no what the standard for this dish is so I will tell you my first impression of the dish. First off this was very dense even though it didn't look big and filled me up. Flavor wise it was good and basically it was a tight meat and vegy stew topped with mashed potatoes. It was meat, carrots, onions, turnips in a thick gravy topped with mashed potatoes. The vegys were still crisp and not cooked to mush which was good. This was comfort food that was filling that came with a roll and butter. Over all this was different but a nice change. I want to try other items on the menu and the corned beef sandwich looked very good so the Ruben might be good. This is a place I would go back. We had take out so service and physical impression of the property I can't speak of but all orders were correct and the woman who took the order was great.

The owner is not friendly at all. He never smiles and doesn't have a sense of humor. He overpaid my husband from a round of drinks and being honest, my husband gave him the extra money back. The owner took the money, walked away and put it back in the cash register without saying thank you or apologizing. Next time (which there won't be) we'll keep the extra money and your drawer can be short if you want to be a jerk about it.

Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday, waiting for my car to be worked on next door. The midday crowd is mostly seniors, with a very energetic, positive feeling to the place. They're there to have a good time! The bartenders are very attentive, and knew everyone there by name. I had the Italian Wedding Soup, rather tasty, and a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon, and a side of fries. Delicious. Everything is made fresh, the bun was toasted and buttered. I highly recommend giving this place a try, you'll walk out with a smile on your face!

I'd come back for a $5 draught Irish beer but SKIP the food all together. DINED: On a Monday evening. Driven past O'Sullivan's multiple times decided to blindly try it. We spotted a guy leaving with carry-out food and asked if the food was good. He raved about it. AMBIANCE/SERVICE: I really expected a beer soaked sports bar but the restaurant has an Irish cafe in a small Midwest town feel. Lots of old people (I love old people.) Several televisions in the main dining area tuned to our slumping Brewers. We were greeted and asked for recommendations. Our server guy was nice. ORDERED: Chestnuts wrapped in bacon as appetizer (6) - $4.50, Shepherds Pie $8.50, Smithwicks beer $5 TASTED: The chestnuts are a strange dish, my wife and I unwrapped the bacon and dipped it in the honey dipping sauce. Is this an Irish thing? If so the Irish are weird. There was a long lag in between our appetizer and main entrees. Waiter didn't once ask if I wanted another beer (I didn't but most place know this is where the ticket can be bigger.) Our entrees arrived, my wife had a 1/2 rack of ribs. My Shepherds pie actually need to have table salt added to it. I NEVER add salt at a restaurant because they over season dishes. Bland mashed potatoes covering tiny shredded pieces of meat, the vegetables looked like they were factory frozen, no irregular pieces that were cut by hand, boring and bland. Our waiter NEVER checked on us again after dropping off our entrees. He came back around when it was time for the ticket. POST: This is boring food for boring suburban palates. Comes served with a side of inattentive service. Cheap beer. CHANCE OF RETURN: 0/10 - too many Irish restaurants in the metro that know Irish food.

It's great to go to a place where you're treated like an actual human instead of talking meat with a wallet. Great personalities behind the bar, they all get to know you and they all make one hell of a drink. Just a great place to take a load off.

Great place for lunch or dinner with great prices. Ordered the ribs and they were perfection. Husband has a Reuben and he was extremely happy! Would highly recommend!

Being from Tosa, it's hard to believe I've never been to O'Sullivan's but came here after a softball game recently. It was quite busy for a rainy Tuesday night which is usually a good indication that they must be doing something right. When you walk in there's a bar area facing you with a few tables and booths before the bar. There's a separate dining area off to the right (which wasn't being used). I didn't get a chance to look at their beer menu but from what we ordered I could assume that it was pretty plain. The prices were acceptable though. Originally planning to go to Leffs for some food after game, I was skeptical about coming to O'Sullivan's despite people saying the food was good. They have the typical bar food on their menu but then a few random/interesting items such as "Liver and Onions" and Shephard's Pie. I decided to play it safe though and eventually ordered wings + cheese curds and others ordered various food as well. The curds were pretty standard, nothing to write home about but nothing I'd complain about. The wings were big and crispy and good. Not the best I've ever had, but pretty darn good. The service was above what you would expect from a bar, but I had no idea what their specials were and they didn't seem to inform us. All in all, I would chalk O'Sullivan's up as just another local bar. Nothing special, but nothing was bad either. I'd probably rather go somewhere with a better beer menu. 3.5 stars.

The owners and staff are amazingly friendly. Always comfortable and welcoming! Great food, cool cocktails - a great Bloody Mary- and a fun clientele.

We just finished one of the worst meals we've had in recent memory. I ordered the Friday Night Perch special and my wife had the corned beef and cabbage. My perch had a bunch of bones and the mashed potatoes/gravy was served in a cup that looked like they pre-packaged like 50 of them at the beginning of the night and nuked them. My wife had the most unseasoned corned beef and cabbage EVER!!!! and the entire meal was completely overcooked, she couldn't even eat the cabbage, it was mush!! The server blamed the bones on the supplier, but other then that the service was good.

It's a solid place. They genuinely care about everyone who comes in. I've never had a bad meal here (their soups are my fav) and everyone seems to know everyone and are really friendly. Great laidback vibe. Prices are reasonable and I feel like I get my money's worth.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I was there for what was supposed to be a catered group party. The staff that was working knew next to nothing about it, was rude to EVERY member of the party when drink orders were placed, and when the food was finally put out, it appeared to be leftovers from a previous party-- a half-eaten birthday cake was left on the table, all of the condiments were obviously being reused and some were close to empty (with others having dried crud on the containers), and no one on staff ever notifies us that the food was "ready" or ever checked in again. Inexcusable. Don't waste your money here.

Great bar/restaurant to meet up with family and friends for the big game or just for a great dinner! It's my parent's favorite place by far to go out weekly and I have no problem tagging along when I'm back home visiting. The owners are incredible, selfless, friendly individuals and treat everyone with the utmost respect, as does the rest of the waitstaff. I haven't had a bad meal there yet either, including THE very best Friday night bluegill dinner I have ever had! All in and all, I just hope I can encourage my friends to come out to the Burbs one of these nights for a crazy-good time in the near future! Thanks, Jake Mitten

I just visited here today for the first time to meet a new business acquaintance. She stood me up, but I still had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was friendly and clean. Even though the waitstaff had a table of 20 grannies ahead of me, they still managed to fill my hot water for tea (great selection) and serve me one of the best Irish stews I've had in awhile! I couldn't believe how inexpensive the prices were. Even though I don't live on this side of town, I will definitely be back. Thanks for making my experience so enjoyable!
