I have to be honest, every time I go to Mr. B's I leave disappointed. Some may ask the question, why do you keep going if you aren't satisfied? Great question, but the truth is that its close to my office and routinely suggested for client dinners. I have decided that I will not be going back (never say never though). The reality is that there are simply better choices. You could go closer to Brookfield Square or frankly make the drive downtown if you want to spend $45 on a steak. Carnivor, Mason Street Grill, Capital Grille (even as a chain), Coerpers, etc... all have a better steak in my opinion. Another key point: the service is always so "marginal" especially with such a high priced menu. Service is slow and every time I am trying to find the server for more drinks, everyone is ready to order, or I need the bill, there is no one to be found. All of these things equal $ for the restaurant, but with two servers per table, its not an easy ordeal to flag them down. Sides = marginal at best as well. Nothing to write home about, but everyone at home will know you had 4 gallons of garlic that evening. Okay, enough complaining. They have a great wine menu and a descent steak (although last night mine was lukewarm when it came out and the server told me it was NORMAL). They have a fairly captive audience, but if your not stuffy and want a better steak in the area, my vote is Jake's.

If you haven't been to Mr. B's since they introduced the "Mr B's Prime Cuts" portion of the menu, you owe it to yourself to revisit. For about two years, the King of all steakdom in Milwaukee has been the Reserve 60 Day Dry Aged Ribeye at Carnevor. Last week, I met the new King: the Wagyu "Tomahawk" Ribeye. The Tomahawk is a 28 oz. Australian Wagyu beef with a 3+ Marbling Rating. This isn't the steak people are going to order if they're looking to "bundle and save" by going with that sharp 6oz Filet and the Sea Scallops. I mean, c'mon, a 6 oz. filet is not going to wow you, no matter where you get it. Instead, go for a real cut of meat - - a Bone-In Filet, a NY Strip, a Porter or a Bone-In Ribeye. I ordered the Tomahawk cooked Medium, which is a good temperature because the cut is VERY Thick - - it assures you that, even up against the bone, you're not dealing with any undercooked portions. A steak this size is tough to cook evenly, especially with the grilling method of the folks at Mr' B's. The steak was done so well, seasoned so perfectly, presented so simply - - just spot on. The dinner was paired with a wonderful Stag's Leap Cabernet, which was a great value that drank like a $160/bottle Red, but only cost half that. The starter Oysters were also wonderful. They managed to surprise my guest, a Bay Area resident, who proclaimed the Oysters had at dinner that night rival the freshness of those he can procure at the Ferry Building Marketplace in San Fran.

GREAT GREAT GREAT food!! From the appetizer's, to sea food, to the steak (which they bring you a cart showing all their meat choices, and different cuts). It is also VERY VERY VERY expensive, but totally worth it on special occasions!! 5 Star ++!!!

I came here expecting to be blown away. And, well, I wasn't. We arrived 15 minutes early for an 8pm reservation on a Saturday night and had a seat at the bar. There were 2 bartenders working and I think frazzled would be the best word to describe their demeanor. Between pouring drinks for the dining room and trying to keep up with folks sitting at the bar, the service was impersonal and hurried. But we didn't have to worry about being in a hurry, because we weren't seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time. That was a bummer. With respect to the service, it was a mixed bag. Our two servers were knowledgeable and quick with the drinks. But we were disappointed that they didn't take the time to match the mood of our table. We had a fairly young table of 30-somethings (that's young, right? Don't answer.) and we were having a good time. I've been to plenty of restaurants with crisp white linens and tuxedoed servers, and the servers who are doing the best job will loosen up and crack jokes when they get a sense of who they're dealing with. To paraphrase Ferris Buehler, our servers were so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up their butts, in two weeks you'd have a diamond. But I digress. We came here for the meat, right? I ordered the NY strip, my brother had the filet and crab cakes, and his wife had the filet and scallops. The steaks were cooked as ordered, but I was let down by the lack of flavor. It was disappointing to drop $40 on a steak and realize 2 bites in that I do better on my grill at home. Still, it wasn't bad. Just not what I'd expect at a steakhouse. The crab cakes were tasty Maryland style cakes with nice seasoning and good lump crab meat. And the scallops were cooked perfectly. Maybe I'm just not in tune with the suburban dining scene. My group definitely wasn't the prototypical Mr. B's patron. For my money, however, there are enough better quality steakhouses in Milwaukee that would get my business the next time I need a giant slab of beef.

I had one of the best steaks of my life. FOOD: Appetizer: 1. Crab cakes - two very fresh, crunchy, and tasty crab cakes topped with a spicy mayo sauce were served along side a very small salad. 2. Seafood bisque - I was served a couple teaspoons of fresh crab meat artistically placed in a bowl. The waitress then poured bisque into the bowl table-side. It had a hint of curry flavor and overall just tasted perfect. Entrees: 3. Angus Ribeye - prepared to a perfect medium rare. I normally opt out of the topping/dressings for steak, but this time I tried the garlic al forno topping (finely minced garlic that is fried and smothered over the entire steak). If you like garlic, this is a MUST try. 4. Mr. B's Baby Back Ribs - pretty standard, not too special. My fiance loved it because the meat was lean, but I was pretty uninterested in the ribs given my steak! Each came with a choice of potato. We tried both the rosemary roasted and salt crusted baked potato. If you have the choice of one potato dish, DEFINITELY go for the rosemary roasted. OMG it was so good. Crispy, salty, fluffy heaven. After being overly full from steak, I still stuffed another 4 potato wedges down because it was unbelievably delicious. SERVICE: Impeccable. Like other Yelpers mentioned, there are two wait staff per table. I did not feel like it was overwhelming or that I was constantly being watched. Both waitresses were very friendly and the timing of their service was immaculate. ATMOSPHERE: I loved the large plantation windows that lined nearly half of the dining room. It made the space look very bright and open. OVERALL: I haven't been to that many steakhouses in Milwaukee, but I can say that of the ones I've been to, this is my favorite. Totally beats Eddie Martini.

Great restaurant. Food is awesome. Steaks are unbelievable. Went with a large group and sat in the private room. Was very loud in there. Outside seating with fireplace is very nice and comfortable. The place is now so big compared to the previous location. Hard to recognize as the same place--the food confirms it is the same place though.

Mr. B's gets an A for their Steak I couldn't have left the place happier. This was my first time trying Mr. B's. I was craving a nice big Wisconsin steak, and after thinking about all the options in Milwaukee. My father thought it was be a good idea for me to try this place, since I have never been. The service is amazing. They don't slack at a Bartolotta restaurant. I came in with crutches since I just recently had ACL surgery. They went out of there way to make sure I was comfortable and to keep wishing me good luck. It just shows the level of care for the patrons. This steak did not disappoint. Compares to 5'oclock club, Mason street, carnivore. I had the 14 ounce Bone in Fillet. It was juicy and cooked perfect Medium. I ordered it with the crab and Bearnaise sauce to top it off. The blue crab was a perfect touch to the steak. I am a huge fan of King crab, but trust me they did it right. I saved the bone (usually the main reason I get the bone in, for my dog). I was not surprised to see my dog eat almost the whole Bone by the time I woke up in the morning. This was a great steak. The place is beautiful decorated and I cant wait to go in the summer and sit on the patio. I recommend this place above almost all other of the Wisconsin steak places if you are going out with the family. (Kids, grandparents etc). The other ones, yes just as good, I just cant see bringing grandma to carnivore. So if your going out to celebrate an occasion, or just have a family event, this cant be beat.

Scallops on July 12, 2014. The first bite of the scallop tasted of ammonia. I took a bite of another scallop and the other one tasted the exact same. Wrapping something up in bacon will not reduce the taste of stale seafood. I will never go there again. Enough said.

I was really looking forward to splurging on the Wagyu steak for my birthday. I had the New York Strip and my boyfriend had the Tomahawk Ribeye Chop. We were both extremely dissapointed! Mine was "stringy". I don't know how to describe the texture of my boyfriend's steak, not necessaryily tough but definitely not tender, kind of dry even though it was medium rare. I was shocked, if just one steak had been bad I could chalk it up to a fluke but not both! I have had "regular" steaks that were so much more tender and flavorful both at Mr. B's and other restaurants. Save your money and skip the Wagyu. The calamari was also very bland, even salt and pepper did not help. Great wine list. Great ambiance and service. Mr. B's sundae was to die for!

We came here to celebrate my birthday. We arrived early for our reservations so we had drinks at the bar. The bartender pours a nice drink!! The wait for our table wasn't too long which I appreciated. The menu has a nice selection of steaks and chops. We had 2 servers working our section and they made sure we were attended to. After perusing the selection of classic steaks, I opted for the petite fillet with red wine sauce while my boyfriend chose the bone in fillet with the Mr. B's sauce. Both steaks were prepared to perfection and the sauces were delightful. Both of us had the rosemary roasted potatoes and we just loved them. We also got an order of asparagus and baby button mushrooms, both well prepared and flavorful. When it came time for desert, we selected a tore to share. However, we were surprised with a flan from our server because he brought the bread out late. The bread!!! I didn't even notice that it was late and we didn't complain at all as a result. It's this kind of service that kicks this up to a 5 star review. The flan was delicious and we'll save the torte for another night. Overall, we had great service, great food and a great experience and we will definitely be back.

What an amazing dinner. A home run on all counts. The prime ribeye was cooked to perfection; it was the best steak I've had in a very long time. The service was appropriately attentive; they made sure that we didn't feel rushed or abandoned. I think the approach of having two servers per table works well. The side were delicious; best steakhouse asparagus I've ever had. For dessert we had a caramel crisp with sea salt vanilla ice cream; wow! WIsh I had asked for two scoops of that delicious ice cream. I highly recommend this restaurant; we are returning with friends from Chicago soon! Truly a cut above Gibsons!

We love Mr. B's! This was our first visit for a romantic night out. We were so happy with our selection. While waiting for our table we enjoyed a drink at the bar. Dawn our tender was very helpful with our wine selection. We noticed that the bar tenders were making their old fashioned by hand so Doug ordered one and was very happy with his. We were seated at a nice cozy table. The gentleman next to us proposed to his date right as we sat down. What a thrill! (she said yes!) Doug has Celiac, an allergy to gluten(wheat). When i made the reservation i mentioned this and the waiter immediately stated that he was happy to help with our selections to accommodate a gluten free selection. So nice to have a restaurant and server with a full knowledge of this allergy. We decided to go all out with this meal to thoroughly enjoy our Mr. B's experience. We started with the Grilled Portabella. So smooth, creamy and flavorful! Doug ordered the Mozzarella and Tomato salad. Would have been better with a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. I had the Bartolotta's Cesar Salad. Nice touch with the anchovy! It was good. The croutons were yummy. I had to try the accompanying bread, rosemary i believe, was tasty! And for the main course, Doug ordered the bone in Rib Eye with mushrooms. He was very happy with his selection and done to perfection! The baked potato was tasty. I had the petite fillet with bacon wrapped scallops upon recommendation. So good! The fillet was done to perfection (better than Carnivore). I accompanied the fillet with the horseradish cream sauce and rosemary roasted potatoes (delish). Finally, we decided to finish off with the turtle cheese cake. Doug couldn't help himself and had a taste (payed for that later). It was good but have had better. Doug had a glass of port and i had a coffee to finish off a delicious meal. This was the most we've ever payed for a dinner but left fat and happy. (Good thing we both got a good run in before hand!) We will definitely recommend but need to try out all of the other wonderful restaurants that the Milwaukee area has to offer.

Had brunch here a while back. Lots of details were over-looked. Buffet tables were under-stocked and cold salads were served in a hot, sunny room, causing them to dry-out and curl up. Hot entrees and side dishes were in a very under-lit air-conditioned area. Seems like they should have done just the opposite. Also, there was no explanation of what the various dishes contained (a simple place-card system could have fixed this). One pasta dish had shrimp layered in it that was not visible to the eye. This could be a real disaster for someone who is allergic to shellfish. For $35 per person, I expected more out of Bartolotta's. Maybe they should have stayed with a smaller site like they used to have. Bigger is not always better; that seems to be the case here!

We went to the Easter Brunch today, made it for our reservation and were sat immediately, though we were in a corner where we needed a flashlight to read the drink-card. It was a typically ritzy Bartollota's fare, very wide selection of foods, wit most everything excellent or better. The one disappointment I had were the marinated chicken breasts, a wee bit on the dry side. I realize that there is an element of economic exclusivity with a place like this, they want to keep riff-raff like me out, but another minor beef were the juice drinks, Four bucks for a tumbler full of ice and a bit of juice, with full price for refills. Coffee was of a blend on par with the food either, at least the had bottomless cups for that. But for $35/seat they could at least have free refills on the apple juice. There were pork medallions on a pilaff like rice soaked in a reduced jue that was divine. The roast-beast was excellent and the cold-cuts were some of the best I had in a while. There were cold tureen style meats on that station that were some of the best I've had. My Wife had the hot salmon that appeared to be poached in butter and EVOO with garlic and veg. She wished that she had had that first so she could have gone back for more...that with the Mac-n-cheese would have been a great dinner plate day. Well worth the cost of entry. All in all i would have given it a five-star if they were not so stingy on the juice. This is MKE Metro after all, we are fed a value mentality with out mothers milk.

Went here on a Saturday. Yes, I did have reservations at 5:30pm. It did fill up quite fast, so if I were you I would have reservations before hand. The service was very good. They alternate between two people, so you are always being looked after. Very nice. For the food I had the chopped salad, it was great! Nice dressing it already come with on it. Then I had the New York Strip it had a nice crisp edges, I had it medium it was cook perfect. Overall good experience and somewhere to eat if you enjoy steaks.

So disappointing. Very bland from the steak to the puréed potato to the red wine sauce. All the food lacked a depth of flavor and was significantly under seasoned, not to mention I had to send my bone in fillet back for being overcooked. I'm so sorry Jake's isn't open on Sundays, this place is over priced for the lack of taste, under seasoned, with mediocre service. Go downtown to Carnevour or up the road to Jake's.

I've been here a few times, and while the food is good, the wait staff leaves something to be desired. I've gotten a variety of things here: a couple fillets, the porterhouse, tuna steak, and lamb chops I believe. The steaks were always very good and the tuna and lamb were also good, but not the best. It's very easy to take a great cut of beef, do very little to it, put it on a plate and charge $40+ dollars. It's much more difficult to take that piece of meat and do something unique with it. Mr. B's chooses to do the former. The wait staff here are zombie robots. Just because it's Brookfield doesn't mean you have to have the personality of a wet carrot. And if they're going to be super intelligent zombie robots, they should know that adding a bone to a piece of meat doesn't add marbling, and a white wine decanter is not a red wine decanter.

The restaurant is a little too small and dark for me but the food more than makes up for it. The atmosphere is quiet to the point of self-consciousness if you speak louder than a library voice. Mr. B's is famous for steaks and they are really good. The service is excellent, almost over-kill. But when spending this kind of money they better be falling all over me.

The husband and I had never eaten a the old Mr. B's location, but have now been to the new location 3 times in the last 6 months. We are always seated immediately (although we have never gone for dinner on the weekends). The restaurant seems pretty busy, even for the weekday nights. I will say that if you are looking for a good table, call ahead and make a reservation. Once, we showed up on a Thursday night without a reservation. We were seated near the kitchen, even though the restaurant was not full (although 30 minutes later, nearly every table WAS full.) Even though we were near the kitchen, we did not notice any noise or were bothered by servers coming and going. They were good about steering away from the tables. The service is fantastic. Within a minute of being seated, the server takes our drink orders (the Malbec is fantastic), another minute later brings bread, and then goes over the specials. Appetizers arrive within 10 minutes (we had a huge tray of crab claws, oysters, and the most enormous shrimp I have ever seen.) I think the only negative is that there may be TOO many servers! I felt like I was being 'watched" at my last meal! The second I finished my plate, someone would swoop in to remove it and the crumbs (or what was left) from the table! Really, not a bad thing. They were attentive and ready to answer any questions. My water glass was always full. My husband likes the fillet cuts, I like ribeyes. The most recent trip was a fillet for me. We both ordered ours medium rare. My husbands was perfect. Mine was more medium (still a great cut). My husband likes his steaks without any dressing or sauce so that he can taste the true flavor of the beef. I prefer a sauce. And since we are out someplace nice, I NEVER leave without having dessert. We ended our meal with the pecan pie. There was a hint of chocolate in it, served with icecream. Mr. B's is not an "economy" restaurant. You can expect to pay anywhere from $60-$90 per person after all is said and done. I don't mind paying more for great service and great food. It is worth many more future trips!

I'll make this short and sweat. Since I've been back to Milwaukee & WI this is where I've have my best steak. Haven't been to the new location on Capitol yet. Mr. B's is one of those places that introduces you to your meat before you eat it. I've never been a big fan of that but it does add interest to the experience. Don't know if they still do it at the new location but when I was there, for those of you who don't know, they bring out a tray of meat cuts and give you a spiel on each. Here, shake hands with your sirloin. I had a filet with a crab cake on top. What can I say, it was tender, succulent, tasty and cooked perfect. Can wait to go to the new place.

This is my first experience with a bartolattas restaurant. Because of these restaurants are well known I thought that the experience would be great. I would first like to say that the service was good. They took care of every request that we had and for that they get 3 stars. But the food was not worth the price that is displayed in the menu. It was tasty but just not what someone would expect from a restaurant with that reputation.

My wife and I went for our anniversary; had reservations and was seated immediately. Service was team approach with 3+ waiters/resses checking in and was top notch. Both of us had the filet which was tender and perfectly done. Being impressed by the little things, one of our waiters noticed our table was wobbly and bent down to fix it immediately while balancing a tray of dishes. Tart for desert, great as well. All in all perfect meal; on the pricey side ($115) but join the preferred guest loyalty program and you are close if not already earned a $25 gift card. Will go back for future special events.

I feel like Mr. B's is right on par with other famous steak houses like Pete Miller's or Ruth's Chris. The interior is very cozy and has a great bar to wait at if you arrive a little early. The drinks are good and the bartender seemed pretty skilled. They mix their own sangria there and is a great drink on a hot day. The dining rooms have a good atmosphere too. You might have a little sticker shock when you look at the prices on the menu but I feel you get what you pay for and Mr. B's has big quality cuts of meat. I've had the bone-in rib eye and it was cooked perfectly. Mr. B's cooks their steaks in an oven and not on a grill. I wasn't used to this but it still produced a great tasting steak. You have an assortment of sauces to get with your meat. I went with the creamy horseradish which went great with the steak. Mr. B's menu doesn't really have signature or standout items on the menu. The menu is simple but full of quality dishes. The service is also pretty great at Mr. B's. The servers are professional and attentive. The hosts are also welcoming and give you the impression that they can't wait to help you.

After having gone to Eddie Martinis recently, Mr. B's clearly didn't stack up. Our steaks were overcooked and not very hot. The service was blah. We are definitely taking Mr B's out of our fine dining restaurant rotation. Too much "grabass" among the staff.

I don't get the negativity here from other diners - I feel like I dined at a different restaurant than the one reviewed by a lot of the other people here? Service was fantastic. Same setup as other bartolotta restaurants - 2 servers for each table and great attention to detail. Dining room is comfortable and inviting. My only beef is that I think they crammed a few too many tables in - we were sitting closer than we'd have liked to other tables. Food itself was fantastic. Appetizers were excellent. Steaks themselves were great. I had the bone-in ribeye and it was fantastic. A little salt and pepper - nothing else. I don't understand why people here are writing that this place is overpriced. Relative to similar steakhouses in town - Mr. B's is less expensive. The steaks were probably 5-10% less than steaks at other places - with free choice of potato. We had the rosemary oven roasted potatoes which were great. Deserts were fantastic as well. My wife had pecan pie and I had a ramekin full of berries - topped with an oatmeal crisp and ice cream. it was awesome. I usually don't finish desert - but I crushed this thing, and even considered ordering another one.

We ate at Mr. Bs for our anniversary and it was delectable. I could have cut my steak with a butter knife (it was that tender). Staff was very helpful, explaining the different types of steaks. It was a great night, all around!

We came here for New Years Eve dinner. There was 8 of us with a reservation. Great service. Everything you would expect from a high end steakhouse. The wine selection was good.. The food was good too. My steak was just the right size. I needed the protein for all the new year eve celebration drinks I was planning to have!

Very, very good food. EXCELLENT service w/ two waiters to a table. Fine dining experience comes w/ a price though.

Underwhelmed and over-priced! I thought for the price I paid the steak would be juicy and flavorful. For the cost, a soup or salad should be included. The waitstaff was friendly but it was not relaxing to dine with people standing around on guard. I will not be returning. I have honestly had a better steak at Applebee's. I am not sure what all the hype is about.

Did not live up to expectations of an expensive steakhouse nor of a Bartolotta restaraunt. Steak was ok, cooked perfectly, but boring. Service was ok. Prefer Fleming's hands down every time.

I was really looking forward to dining at Mr. B's for my recent anniversary. It was disappointing in almost every way. We were never asked during reservation, checking in, or seating, if we were there to celebrate anything. The tables are so close and small that it made conversation and dining uncomfortable. My husband and I both ordered the "Prime Cut" 28 day bone in rib-eye. What a disappointment, we both ordered medium rare but we got overcooked, tough, dry, and flavorless. We didn't send them back because both were the same and figured what would it have mattered? I was shocked and surprised that the quality of meat was so poor. I began longing for our own backyard grilled rib-eyes. Our two person wait staff were pleasant but definitely out of sync. We had to ask for simple items that most places would have brought with what we ordered, i.e. butter for baked potato, spoons for coffee, etc. I had really expected at this price point a true dining experience. With so many excellent dining options in the Greater Milwaukee area it will be easy to never return to Mr. B's.

When i lived in this area, this was celebration dinner place, and i was never let down. This place deserves to be called a steakhouse. I have been to other "steakhouses" and they did not stand up to this place. I love the way they prepare their filets and i still drool a bit when i think about the yumtastic brandy peppercorn sauce that pairs with the filet quite amazingly. Compared to some of the restaurants that I have been frequenting as of late, I would say that this place is relatively cheap for the quality they reproduce. Mr B, I'll be back

Great, cozy atmosphere, and a nice wine list. I should know better than to order seafood in a steak house, but Bartolotta's usuall gets it right. My salmon and my shrimp were both overcooked.

It's quite a drive to dine at this place. The place is very cozy and cold. It seems like their heat is not working quite well. They close at 8 pm on Sundays -- it's a bit early for the city people but we stayed until 9ish last nite and obviously, we were the last table. The steaks were great but they overcooked my gf and her bf's bone-in filets. They ordered them medium rare and they came out as more like medium. Both my bf and I ordered ours medium and they came out fine. My gf and her bf didn't send theirs back though. This place is definitely at the expensive end. 4 of us dropped almost $400 (with tips) last nite. We ordered 1 dozen oysters, 4 steaks (2 bone in fillet, 1 Mr. B's fillet and 1 ribeye), 2 desserts, 2 coffees, 2 mixed drinks and 1 bottle of wine. They have half price bottles on Sundays. Also, the waitstaffs were very attentive. It's a plus. Will we go back? The answer is Maybe. If we happen to be in the hood again and if we have some extra cash to spend, then we probably would. However, we definitely wont drive an hour there just for a piece of steak. We can get better steaks at Morton's for almost the same cost or cheaper.

My wife took me for my birthday this year. What you would expect for a high end steakhouse and done well. As with the other Bartolotta properties, everything is executed with a certain combination of thoughtfulness yet corporate precision that is hard to describe. It's not bad but if a little Italian woman in an apron walked out of the kitchen I would give it more stars...

I hosted a client event at Mr B's and was disappointed in the room and service. The food was excellent, but I had numerous complaints about the room size and slow service. After seeing the room in advance of booking, I voiced my concerns and was assured it would accomodate my event. It did NOT! We were cramped, it was loud, my presentation was difficult to hear and I had people leave because they were not comfortable. The wait staff was slow to bring drinks to my guests but quick to open very expensive bottles of wine, most of which went unused. My event went over budget by $1,300! I will never host an event here again.

So, your brother comes in to town and you ask him if he wants a great steak. Where do you take him? Mr. B's. We ate at the bar and Jamie, our bartender & server was absolutely outstanding. The wine and the veal (no bad comedy club joke here) were so good that my brother is still talking about it three hours later. A fantastic night out.

One word - scrumptious Finally I've entered a place that doesn't serve mounds of food that you can't eat. The portions are just right and everything my date and I had was devine. I know it's a crime to not have steak when dining at a place like this..but I opted for the shrimp in garlic butter. Yum. Oh and a must have are the sauteed mushrooms. I was looking forward to the asparagus but wanted to try something new and glad I did. Camerons is posh..but this is cozy.

I am truly impressed with the ambience, wait staff and food. Had a new York strip done medium that was great. The Calamarie (spelling?) appetizer was the best that I have had anywhere. Very expensive, but worth it for special occasions.

Over rated is all I can say. Steaks not that great and so expensive. Service is ok but not what I would call excellent. My steak was tough - how can that be? Dessert also fell short. Would not return.

A few low-ball reviews here and I can understand why--but I still give it FOUR STARS. Quaint, quiet little place. And I mean to be redundant. It's just too quiet here. If you sit in the small dining room you'll feel like you can't carry on a conversation without everyone hearing it. If you want a more lively seating ask for the backroom or the upstairs. The food though is excellent. Steaks are to die for and the salt-crusted baked potatoes are delicious! Service is comparable to what we've all come to expect from Bartalotta's. Is it worth a drive all the way from say Milwaukee? Eh, that's up to you. But if you're in the "area" this is the best choice! Disappointment will not be found here.

Here is an updated review of Mr. B's since they relocated to a larger building. I think the prices are out of line-one of the house wines is $29.50 per glass. Yikes! The food is good, not great, the staff is average and for the money that is not enough. If I am going to pay big bucks to dine, it had better be excellent. I will go back because I like the new setting, but will probably stick to bar items.

As good as the steaks are at Mr B's they do not quite fall into the class of "among the best I have ever had". I love the atmosphere. It is quiet, intimate, upscale yet not over the top formal. Items on the menu I especially like are the onion rings, ribeye, porterhouse, Cesar salad, and BLT wedge salad. Mr B's definitely has Chicago steak house pricing in that everything is a la cart. I think Coerper's Five O'clock Club is a better value because the steaks are less expensive, better, and include a salad.

Ever been to a restaurant that has those dessert carts the waitstaff would wheel around to show off their food? Mr. B's takes that idea and brings the concept to steak. Raw steak. Huge, marbled, and ripe for the picking steak. Their wheeled cart had 2 tiers offering a wide selection from New York strip, to a mother lode porterhouse. It would've been icing on the cake if you could choose your raw, pink, slab-o'-meat, and like in those Japanese steak houses they'd plop it onto a sizzling grill right in front of you. That doesn't happen, unfortunately; the cart glides away and your grilled-to-your-liking steak emerges from the kitchen. Regardless, it's a great experience. There are menu items for non-beef eaters, but there's no need to order them unless you got dragged to this restaurant.

Go to Flemings for that kind of money. It's much more comfortable, cozy and better all around including the service. This place (Mr. B's) does have excellent quality food, but the staff swarms around you like bees & they overwhelm you to the point of being way too obnoxious. It's very unrelaxing. Unfortunately, we as American's haven't yet learned that. Balance good service while maintaining situational awareness of the customer. If I am going to spend 150+ bucks on a dinner for two, they need to back down some and not be pesky. Anyway, the tables and then the chairs left me with a sore butt throughout and afterwards. That is a good dining experience? Not for us. The bottom line is: they have some very nice wine selections and the food is quite good. They're pricey like Flemings though. If this is your thing. Enjoy!

I love the Bartolotta restaurants. I've been to all of them, save for their newest supper club, which doesn't really appeal to me. Alas, I never have a bad experience here. And that seems to be their priority: experience. Everything from the food, to the service, to the ambiance, etc. is done to perfection. One thing I really appreciate here is that even though it is a Steakhouse, I feel completely fine coming here as a vegetarian because they have wonderful options that don't have to include meat. I get the eggplant rigatoni every time because it's simply delicious. I actually hate eggplant, but I love the way they prepare theirs. Everything is so incredibly fresh. I came here for a celebration last night, and the service was impeccable. Wonderful champagne recommendation from the server and outstanding food. I ordered the Minestrone to start out with, and this is the only complaint I have. I should have verified that it was vegetarian, and I wrongly assumed that it was (most minestrones are), and my first bite had a big chunk of beef in it. I swapped starters with another person at our table without a problem, but I was a little disappointed. Perhaps it could be advertised as "Beef Minestrone" in the future? Otherwise, my rigatoni was outstanding, the others at the table seemed to have great dishes as well. Love this place!

One of the worst "steakhouse" steaks I can remember having. Overpriced, bone dry, cooked unevenly (and overcooked) and too salty. I do have another, smaller gripe - and that is the knives. Granted it's a pretty trivial thing, but for a reputable steakhouse, their steak knives were really, really dull. Coupled with my dry steak, I practically had to saw through it with my knife. The only thing making this two stars instead of one was relatively fast service (we arrived before the dinner rush) and decent appetizers. Learn how to cook a steak and we MIGHT be back. Otherwise, this place is a dud.

Sad to say, my last two visits in the past couple months have continued to make me think this restaurant is changing. The steaks are still quite good. Unlike some reviewers, I haven't splurged for the Wagyu or other prime cuts because I don't want to gamble that the quality is worth the money. Totally would make the splurge if the reviews were better on these steaks recently. Each time I come to this restaurant, I notice a change in the service. This last visit, our two servers were slow, completely impersonal and were clearly just doing what was required - and nothing more. They seemed better suited to waiting tables at an affordable family restaurant. I was surprised by how much this factor dampened our whole dining experience. Also, I love sides. The presentation of the sides has changed (plain ramekin for sauce, potato on main plate instead of cooked in its own little dish). Easier on the kitchen, sure, but less of a "wow" factor. It's the service and the little touches that seem to be missing. Steaks and the other food I have tried are still very tasty.

Hard to write a great review when we were not "wowed" by the quality of the beef. When I buy Waygu beef and pay $59 to $69 for a steak I expect them and the overall experience to fantastic. Unfortunately it was not. The staff were attentive and friendly, the restaurant was very nice, not overly loud, clean etc. as you would expect from a higher end place. Just disapointed with the beef. Not every dining experience is a five out of five..........

Someone talked up Mr. B's so hard that I was left a little disappointed. The service was good, the atmosphere is really neat, but the food left me rather disappointed. Drinks -I had an Arnold Palmer: More Arnold than Palmer...not sure which is which, but it had more of an iced tea flavor and had so much ice that it was watered down almost instantly. I recommend getting Sprecher root beer which they have on tap...getting Sprecher on tap feels like putting in a brand new pair of contacts. So good. So refreshing. Appetizers -Wisconsin Artisinal Cheese: A relatively small platter of 3 different types of cheese - I believe they rotate their cheeses. For a table of 6 who all love cheese, it was quite a small portion. I think this appetizer is good for 2 - 3 people. -Baked Goat Cheese - This was pretty good! Baked goat cheese in marinara with slightly garlic-ed bread. I recommend this one! STEAK I had the 16oz Dry-aged Colorado USDA Prime Ribeye. ...this was rather soul-crushing since I'm a steakhouse for the steak. I ordered my steak medium rare and the leaner portion of my steak was between rare and medium rare....whatever. When I got to the thicker portion, this was rarer than rare...and for me, that was inedible. If I had started at the thicker portion, I could have asked for my steak to be cooked more, but since I was already done with 3/4 of my steak, I didn't bother asking. This also hurt my heart because this is a $59.95 steak. If this is how they prepare all their steaks (severely undercook), I suggest ordering "medium" if you want "medium rare." I was just disappointed after someone had talked up Mr. B's so much.

Ambience is great just like all other Bartolotta restaurants. Steak was overcooked. I would have complained, but the service was so slow that I really didn't want to wait again. The service is generally top-notch at their restaurants, but not this time. Usually I am quick to recommend any Bartolotta restaurant, but I am not sure I will return or recommend this location. So disappointing!

Mr B's is by no means bad -- in fact, I'd even call it "good" -- but when dinner for 2 runs just a little shy of $200 (before tip), I expect the meal to bordering on mind blowing. $200 might not get you very far in Chicago or NYC, but for a Milwaukee suburb, it should buy you a memorable meal. On the positive side, I had what was probably the best dirty martini I've ever tasted at Mr. B's. Also, my steak had what may have been the most perfect sear of any I've ever had. It was truly glorious. On the negative side, the appetizers (Oysters Rockefeller and baked goat cheese) were just okay -- about the quality I'd expect from someplace like Cooper's Hawk. And that perfectly seared steak I mentioned above was the Australian Wagyu tomahawk cut rib-eye -- a $70 steak that had a couple of great bites, a few very fatty bites, a thick ribbon of silverskin inside it, and the rest was kind of unremarkable. It's worth noting, that I know the difference between marbling and fatty. I regularly purchase USDA Prime cuts of beef and will often dry age my own. I purposefully ordered my steak without any topping or sauce, as I wanted to taste the steak in its pure form. This steak was a let down -- outside of the sear, which again, I must say was nothing short of marvelous. Also the steak knives were just awful. Trying to cut through my steak was like trying to cut slab bacon with a plastic, left-handed scissors. C'mon, guys, this is a steak house -- give me a decent knife. The steak knives at Dreamdance are like scalpels. A dull knife furthers the impression that I'm dealing with less than magnificently tender meat. UPDATE: It's been four weeks since I sent a polite email to Joe B, responding to his follow-up to this review and telling him I'd be more than happy to further discuss my experience. I have not received a reply.

Well. Had my last meal there. The last two times I have been there two out of three steaks were not prepared to the correct temperature. One wonders how a restaurant that touts itself as a steakhouse has a kitchen with such poor quality control. In both instances they offered to re-fire the steak but that really disrupts the dinner. On the first of these two visits I did have them do it but the medium well that I ordered that arrived as black and blue was converted to rare and on the second re-fire it was medium. I did not think a third time was a go because the others with me had finished by that time. The second visit I declined a refute, took a rare steak home and brought it to the correct temp the next day. It was still tasty. The service was good both times. They are also only moderately allergy friendly. How is it they mix but breads and non but breads?

Incompetent wait staff, slower than a tortoise, despite the many assistants floating around trying to help. I could train a monkey to be more useful. I think our whole dining experience was 3 hours. Their steak is good, though nothing to rave about and nothing exceptional about the quality. Overrated.

  • Michael G.

Super overrated. A $60 steak should be cooked correctly, not way overdone. Also, they should charge about half that for the steak I had. I've eaten a lot of great steaks from a lot of great steakhouses all over the country, and this place has no business in that conversation. Bland and underwhelming. The mashed (or I think they called them pureed) potatoes were good, and so were the mushrooms. Presentation of the good was great. Atmosphere was crowded/cramped and loud. Save your $$ & go to Applebees.

I have enjoyed dining at this restaurant on at least 7 different occasions. It is always a wonderful culinary experience with friendly professional service. I usually always get the seafood trio seeing as it has my favorite seafood selections (salmon, crab cake, and scallops) all on one plate. My only suggestion would be to offer seasonal if not daily specials. As I said, I have the same thing EVERY time and don't get me wrong, it's great, just wish they had some other options available on occasion. Overall, a great restaurant for the MKE area.

Is it possible that I have never reviewed my beloved Mr. B's?! A shameful lapse on my part. Mr. B's is a regular haunt for me because they never fail to impress with the quality of their food and service. Their steaks are beautifully prepared; so beautifully that I'm afraid I rarely order anything else. Add a chopped salad, garlic al forno mashed potatoes, some brussel sprouts, and a nice red, and you've got a perfect dinner. The staff is top notch as well. Be sure to hit the patio in the summer! The staff for that area is less experienced, but the ambiance is the best in the west.

Great steaks. Little pricey. My wife hates the meat cart. Good atmosphere. Service is good , but can be better for the price. I was once charged an additional $10 on my credit card . This was fixed once I called my credit card company.

Salty everything - tried 3 apps and each one was over salted - the chips & bacon dip (which was pretty good), the tater tots and slider and the rib-bites (which were not very meaty) & fries; while the apple pie crumble tasted like cinnamon sand and was not appealing to look at; and no one was speaking in the entire bar, they just stared at each other needing or wanting to be seen! Our server was pleasant though.

On my first visit, I was not very impressed with the place. However on my last visit, I have to give them 5 stars. Thankfully we were a bigger group, so we were seated at a round table. My negative comment about Mr. B's is that they have these strangely small tables for couples that are way to close to each other and you feel so uncomfortable seated at them. Oh and the meat cart is werid. However lets get to the food. The drinks were as always, delicious. The food was phenomenal. We had oysters to start which tasted fresh. The onion haystack which was nicely fried, not too greasy. Our entire table ordered steaks, they all came out as ordered. I had a lovely ribeye which was beatifully marbled througout. The sides were also fantastic, brussel spouts, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Ultimately, we had a fantastic dinner and the service was attentive. It is never a cheap meal when all is said and done, but it's always a great place to have a special dinner and not worry about how your steak comes out.

I finally got to experience the new location and was NOT disappointed!!!! We deliberately in to sit at the bar for a bit before dinner and loved Ann so much, we decided to eat dinner at the bar. Her service as a server was just as friendly and knowledgeable as a bartender. What an asset she is! Everything we had was fantastic, but the Caesar salad and rigatoni were the stand outs! We stayed for dessert and the port and sherry were awesome with it! As a fellow bartender, I was able to comfortably trust Ann's recommendations and was not disappointed!

Third and last time....service is hurried and slow....it was like pulling teeth to get a drink too. I had heard others saying service has gone down and they were not kidding! So disappointing.... half of each of our steaks were overdone....the mushrooms lacked adequate flavor and the baked potatoes seemed to be "steamed" and the skin was the same texture as the potato...definitely not "baked"..... The outside patio is gorgeous, but when the sun goes down you'd better have a flashlight to see your food and the bugs flying around it! I was disappointed!

Let me start by saying I have no problem paying for quality and service. The reason I love it here is the casual fine dining with a clean, fresh feel atmosphere. Some may not like the two server concept, I appreciate it. One person brings me more bread the other offers me a steak selection. This is A OK with me. The cheese platter is fantastic. Steaks are cooked precisely as you ask. A see and be seen feel but, come on it's Brookfield.... expect that! I love it here and will continue to come back. Oh and don't forget to enroll in the Bartolotta rewards program, totally worth it.

The items on the menu are pricey, but are totally worth splurging on every now and then. Every time you go into Mr. B's you can be sure of two things: the service will be fantastic and the food will be to die for! My favorite cocktail to get there is an extra dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. The olives are always stuffed fresh and they make a great martini. The BLT wedge salad is a great start to any meal. Wonderful, crisp lettuce, with blue cheese and a bacon-buttermilk dressing. If you ask, they'll even chop it up for you in the back which just makes it that much better. I always get the Prime Bone-In Ribeye while my fiance always gets the Wagyu "Tomahawk" Ribeye. Both are incredible. The Tomahawk is very expensive, but will melt in your mouth with every bite. On the side, the mashed potatoes (with the addition of the garlic al forno) are incredible... if you have room for sides that is. The bearnaise sauce and brandy peppercorn sauce are nice additions to the steak and are amazing sauces, but honestly aren't needed since the steak is so good on it's own. For desert, the flan is a nice, light finish to the meal, with fresh berries and sauce that is perfect and not too sweet and overpowering. Overall, Mr. B's is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the Milwaukee area.

So I'm totally going to be "that person" that judges this based on different restaurant characteristics (sorry reader!). Be forewarned: I am an experience snob, so if an experience isn't important to you than you can just skip right over this review. My friends and I decided to do a little dining tour around Milwaukee, which meant hitting up as many Bartolotta restaurants as possible and eating a little here and there. Now, I'll admit that my absolute favorite Bartolotta restaurant is Harbor House (I'm a junkie. It's a problem), but I was a little surprised with Mr. B's. Growing up Mr. B's was always in the adorable Stoneybrook Village (or whatever it was called), in this beautiful, old building. The experience there was amazing. It felt very "Bartolotta". That being said, I'll give Mr. B's a 4 for food, but a 3 for experience. It's quite obvious that they just moseyed on into an existing Mexican restaurant's building and tried to gussy it up with some Bartolotta flair, but it still feels like it falls short. It just doesn't feel authentic and I was surprisingly disappointed.

My boyfriend chose Mr. B's for his birthday dinner. I had a reservation and we were seated immediately in the center of the restaurant, with a nice view of the kitchen. Two servers are assigned to each table, which I thought was interesting, but I am unsure if it was necessary. I ordered the filet and crab cakes, which came with a refreshing little salad. My meal was good, but not as amazing as my boyfriend's porterhouse! It was so juicy and flavorful- a definite winner. We even ordered a bottle of wine as a special treat and it didn't break the bank. Also ordered a side of mushrooms and brussel sprouts. The sprouts were out of this world! Since I included in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out flan with berries for dessert - lovely! Will definitely return, but next time I am getting the porterhouse!

Possibly the best steaks I've ever had. I've been here probably 15+ times, and I have yet to have something even slightly less than awesome. That's the short version. I'll try to keep the long version short too. So, all the 'expense account steakhouses' are good. You know the places I'm talking about: Ruth's Chris, Morton's, Capital Grill, etc. Most of them would be 4 stars on most every night. Not bad. Mr. B's is a notch above these places. The apps are the standard fare and all good. The meat cart that they bring around is a bit over the top, but so is the SIZE of some of these cuts. I have to admit that I nearly ALWAYS go for the petite filet, but its not that petite at all....its usually between 8-10oz!! Top that some lump crab and Bearnaise sauce, and you got yourself a winner! Service in general is attentive, seamless and unobtrusive. Pricing is very fair for what you get. Dessert I have to plead ignorance on, because even with the the petite filet, I feel like I need to be rolled out of there by the time dessert comes around.

First time at the new location. Had a good meal tonight. Came in with reservations for 5:30 PM and when we arrived, the place was packed.... on a Tuesday nite. Amazing to us. No problem though; we were seated right away. Crab cakes to start. Excellent. This week, they have a special add-on menu with different dishes celebrating the heirloom tomato, so we had a plate of sliced heirloom tomatoes that were served with a pesto sauce. The tomatoes were so very good. A real treat. Chopped salad. This has been their signature salad here for a long time. Mixed greens, tomatoes, black olives, grated cheddar, chopped and tossed in their house dressing. Still excellent. MEAT - Cut filet: Outstanding. Prime NY Strip: Good but underwhelming for what I was expecting, especially because the restaurant considers this steak a special piece of meat. My take: borderline disappointing, thin cut, underweight... surprising, especially for how it is promoted by the restaurant. It is nowhere near the best NY steak I've ever had, and for the price... $54.00, it should have come close to the best steak, don't 'yuh think? We really like the new location. Large outdoor patio with fireplace. The dining area reminds me of an open Spanish/Mexican villa for some reason. Downside: The acoustics in the dining area amplify all the sounds. It was noisy/loud, and a bit hard to have a quiet conversation because of it. Had a glass of Malbec (Valentin Bianchi). Perfect for me. Service: OUTSTANDING. Our server (Clay) is someone who we remember serving us in the prior location. He is a 100% professional, elegant waiter, and made the meal much more enjoyable by way of his knowledge of the menus, the preparation, the cuts of meat and wine selections/variety.

We love mr b's . I always get the filet which is always super! The wait staff is always on their "a" game and make your dining experience wonderful! Great wine selection and I love the patio in the summer. I also love that they are open for lunch during the holidays , I wish they were poem for lunch year round.

I had one of the best blackened rib-eyes of my life here this week, and I have had a few. Mr. B's rises above the field of the by-now familar steakhouse fare and provides exceptional meat and great sides. I really liked the rosemary potatoes too. The table raved about the Brussels sprouts, but I did not like them when I was a kid and I am not going to give in to their now trendy foodie status. Service was fine, decor is average. The place was packed on a Tuesday at 6 pm and the bar was hopping too. The restaurant is located in the midst of nowhere with no other restaurants of similar status anywhere nearby.

My husband and I went in for a special date night, and neither of us had been to Mr. B's before. The experience was great, the bread was great, the potatoes were great, his steak was great, my chicken, was not. I know it sounds silly for a non red meat eater to go to a steak house, but he likes steak and I figured there would be other good food as well. My husband was pleased with his steak and his potatoes as well. I asked the waiter (who was very good) which chicken dish he would recommend between the 2 I had it narrowed down to, and decided to try his recommendation. The potatoes were fantastic, the chicken, not so much. I was expecting mouth watering, fall off the bone, best I've ever had, chicken! I got, hard to cut through, pretty chewy, had to request a sharp knife and still had a hard time cutting through it, chicken. So, a little disappointing; for $20 chicken, I've certainly had better! I contemplated sending it back, but I didn't want to be the girl who sent back their chicken at a steak house, and since there were so many people around I didn't want to create an embarrassing situation. So, it was a little bit of a bummer, after we were having such a great night, to have a less than great meal, especially for the price! Follow up: I also emailed the restaurant, and never received a response, which I think is just horrible customer service!

At my last visit the service and food were superb - really almost a fantastic experience. So why the 3 stars. Table next to us was filled with some drunk and obnoxiously loud diners. We complained to the servers who asked them to tone it down. Instead they got louder - they were so loud and obnoxious that we could not talk. It's the responsibility of the restaurant staff to not over-serve and to see that all patrons behave in a responsible manner.
