    My family reserved a room here for the family after my grandpa's funeral. Staff was friendly and accommodating, restaurant looks like your standard brookfield restaurant, plenty of room for my entire family - which is an accomplishment. 3 stars for the food. I got the ravioli - wasn't impressed. Under seasoned and watery. Tried a few other dishes - all pretty average. They also brought out a huge tray of desserts which I thought was a bit much since we were having lunch at like noon. I'm not really up for eating a huge piece of cheesecake for lunch. Something a bit lighter - like cookies would have been more appropriate. Overall "meh" experience.

    We used to LOVE this place. The last 3 trips there have been a disaster. I usually overlook bad service when the food is good. The main problem is the food and service is going downhill fast. On our last trip they totally screwed up the order and nobody seemed to care. When our bill came the waitress said she didn't charge us for ONE soda. That $2 really made up for the bad experience. They need a management change or they will be out of business.

    My boyfriend and I dined at Louise's this past Saturday. The parking "lot" wasn't the greatest, as the lines didn't seem evenly spaced, and the lot was on somewhat of a hill. Nevertheless, our car parked just fine. Our reservation was for 6, although we ended up arriving around 5:40. We were seated right away, as it wasn't terribly crowded. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but not overwhelmingly so. You could hear snippets of conversation here and there, the wait staff working diligently, and the food in the kitchen being prepared. It would have been strange if it hadn't been at the volume it was. We ordered bruschetta for an appetizer, which was out easily within five minutes. We were also given a basket of Parmesan bread with an oil/balsamic vinaigrette dip. The bread and dip combo was fantastic! The bruschetta was okay - we only received three pieces, and there was an overwhelming amount of tomatoes. Half of them were on the plate, and not on the bread. It wasn't bad, but I've had better bruschetta elsewhere. As for our entrees, I was amazed at how fast they were brought out. I ordered the lobster ravioli, while my counterpart had the braised beef short ribs, with green beans and gnocchi. The food arrived at 6 - just 20 minutes after we arrived. It almost came to our table too fast (if that's even possible!), but we were more than ready to eat. The lobster ravioli was fantastic; not too rich, and just enough sauce to cover the pieces of ravioli and not drown them. The mushrooms and green onions scattered among them added much to the flavoring. According to my boyfriend (I didn't try his meal, as he had no problem cleaning his plate), the beef was so tender that you didn't need a knife whatsoever. Overall we had a great experience. We plan on coming back again!

    Three and a half stars. Lost half a star for mediocre beer selection, poor cannoli, and wrong food order. Party of 9 descended the Saturday night before Easter. The Grouper special was impressive and loved by DH. Most food was excellent quality. The cannoli were not explained to us and ended up being filled with some kind of strawberry cool whip filling-very far from true cannoli!! We were disappointed and expressed this since three of is ordered them and did not eat them! Overall, a nice menu and the kitchen did a great job with entrees and rushing out a pizza when an order was missed. The place was very quiet at 7pm Saturday-almost empty maybe due to holiday. A solid place for dinner in a casual environment with reasonable prices.

    I'm staying at the nearby Extended Stay Hotel until moving out of state. Needless to say my wife and I dine out pretty much every night. (That sound is my bank account draining.) Last Wednesday I dined alone and sat at the bar. The bartender (male) quickly handed me off to a server so he could give the lady patrons more attention. I was fine with this. I ordered a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale (8.2%), a Insalata Louise and a serving of Lasagna ($14.95). This meal was fantastic, the salad had a mix of green with generous amounts of cheese and veggies. The Lasagna was oozing with incredible bolognese, piping hot, tender noodles. I possibly naively judge all Italian food against Il Mito. For those of you still reading, I thought Louise's lasagna was better than Il Mito's. Fast forward to last evening with my wife. After my constant raving about the lasagna Mrs. P ordered this along with me. Granted we dined at thirty minutes before closing but our meal was lackluster. Our salads were dull iceberg lettuce and drenched in too acidic vinaigrette. I could only muster a few bites. Our lasagna arrived and it looked nothing like my bar seating experience. It tasted very off - bitter, oily, soggy. Was it our timing at the end of the evening? I don't know but my wife now questions my palate. POST: I like Louise's but it's probably a place for a beer and not much else for my remaining week here. It's easy to rack up a $40+ ticket with a few beers. The service is professional. The space is nice but I love Joanna T's description of "permanently sticky". It seems like a place where Brookfield area offices have their "employee going away" parties. There was a group of middle age professionals doing tequila shots at my first visit. The bar lacks Templeton Rye. CHANCE OF RETURN: 5/10

    Would not go back. I had the lobster ravioli which was bland. Pasta was heavy not delicate. My husband had seafood ravioli with dill sauce. Again bland. Food was a disappointment. The restaurant was dirty and dingy. Tables were sticky and plates did not look clean. I asked for a clean plate because it felt grimy and got the same one back or another one just like it.

    My favorite restaurant in the New Berlin and Brookfield area. We have been there 3 times now and I plan to go back whenever I get a vote on our destination. I love the pappardelle with Italian sausage. I normally get the Penne ALL' Arrabbiata when we eat Italian, but I can't seem to bring myself to order anything besides the pappardelle here.

    This place is a true GEM!!! Stayed at a nearby hotel and ask the clerk where he would send his family for dinner. He said Louise's. EXCELLENT selection! Staff - incredibly attentive and polite Ambiance - very creative and warm - beautiful copper lining the kitchen area Food - OUT OF THIS WORLD! Everything is clearly homemade and delicious. Friend ravioli was so light and the filling savory and the dipping sauce flavorful. Lentil soup was full of herbs and yum and Ceaser salad was perfectly and lightly dressed. Gnocchi and chicken Parm entrees were fantastic. The homemade pasta that came with the parm was truly the best. I highly recommend you try this wonderful restaurant. You will not be sorry.

    I might like this location better than the one on Cathedral Square. Louise's isn't a place I'd ever pick, but I don't complain if others want to go. Atmosphere: B- It's nice, but getting a little dated. The tables are definitely well-worn and have that "permanently sticky" feeling. Service: C+ Our server was nice, but we didn't see her much once more tables arrived. Fortunately, we had lots to talk about but if I were in a rush it would have been an issue. Food: C I've never had anything BAD from Louise's but it's really nothing special. The bread they give you at the start of the meal is delicious though. I had a braised beef ravioli on m recent visit and the filling was good - however, the creamy sauce was just too rich. A plain tomato sauce would have been better. Overall - you can do better in Brookfield but you can certainly do worse (there's an unaccountably popular Olive Garden nearby).

    Descriptive phrase: suburban, classy-ish Italian. Louise's in Brookfield is the definition of "A-OK" for me. I was part of a larger group of business associates who came for a Tuesday dinner. You'd easily miss Louise's, tucked away as it is on a hill off of Bluemound. We arrived around 6:30 and it was empty inside. Our own private room was already set up. I have to say, the whole staff was fantastic, and attentive almost to a fault. I opened with a glass of Water Street Amber, which I found a good mix of malty and drinkable. Beer selection wasn't extensive, but at least offered different options than other local spots. Wine selection was admirable. Apps included Bruschetta Pomodoro E Basilico ($5.95) [decent, but could've used balsamic over plain olive oil], Baked Crab & Asiago Dip ($10.95) [looked like a glob of cheese and artichoke hearts in a bowl, did not try], and Mozzarella Caprese ($9.95) [tasted fresh, but again could've used balsamic instead of olive oil]. I started with a cup of their Minestrone soup ($2.95), which was simple but well-executed. Not too salty, which can be a common downfall. My main course was the Chianti Braised Short Ribs ($19.95). The meat was fork-cut tender, and was probably more generous than the stated 8oz. The green beans and gnocchi, smothered in a Gorgonzola cream sauce, rounded out a solid and hearty meal. Service was spot-on, and food was good but not great. Louise's in Brookfield was a solid choice for our large group, but wouldn't be a destination in itself.

    I had been to Louise's (downtown) once and it was very good, so I thought I should try this one in Brookfield as I was staying in the area. It too was good. Very impressive restaurant! The chefs at the two restaurants should be congratulated and held in high regard. They prepare extremely delicious and well prepared and presented meals. Very good assortment of tastes and textures. I've had the Chicken Picatta and the Filet Mignon on my two trips to Louise's and both were excellent. Good service. I definitely recommend.

    I love going here! I've only been here for lunch. Food is delicious and you can tell that it wasn't just throw together. The service is always top notch. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend!

    Delicious food that is not very expensive (at least by Chicago suburbs standards). It is also on top of the hill with a great view of the sunset from the patio. The bread basket is great with hot freshly baked focaccia bread that either comes herbed or with tomato sauce. Both are delicious. The pappardelle with Italian sausage comes with delicious sausage and pasta in a very nice creamy sauce. The combination of garlic and red pepper give this dish a nice kick. The spaghetti and meatballs seem simple but are prepared very nicely here. Warm and tasty. The jumbo garlic shrimp pasta is nice and light with tagliolini pasta. Most of the flavor comes from garlic, butter, and wine which makes this simple yet tasty. The seafood ravoli was great. The handmade ravioli is filled with shrimp and crabmeat with a very nice dill cream sauce. The penne al bolognese is hearty and filling and great for those who love meat. I was not a big fan of the strawberry tiramisu or cheesecake as I found both of them to be pretty simple and a little too sweet. There are too many great places in Milwaukee to go for sweets to settle for mediocre desserts.

    I was not impressed in all sorts of ways. This started with them not having the ingredients to make a signature drink I wanted. I understand it was Sunday, but go to the store and get the vodka. The water also tasted disgusting- get a filter or don't serve tap water. I couldn't enjoy the food because I was so worried about the cleanliness. This started with the table and bread plates feeling GROSS! The food didn't taste bad, but I just couldn't enjoy it. It also wasn't worth what I paid for it. I'm not from around here, but if I was I wouldn't go back.

    MUCH better than I expected given the location, name and building shape. We had the private party room (only had 15 people, but it could have fit 40), which was very nice. The waiter was friendly and playful, with good conversation skills necessary to deal with a larger group. I was impressed by the large selection available on the menu, especially all of the vegetables that are so often lacking in Italian restaurants. They bring out baskets of foccacia style bread (see pictures), which has a nice doughy consistency, but is lacking some flavor. We ordered some appetizers, including the artichoke ravioli, the calamari and the mussels. All were quite good and I would have been happy to have them as the main course. The house made pasta is perfectly cooked to al dente. I ended up splitting the goat cheese, sundried tomato and pine nut salad and the tortelonni with someone and still had leftovers (not as good the next day due to the pasta's textural change). Just looking around the table, everything was in the traditional large portion size attributed to Italian cuisine. The soups and salads were all generous and had interesting combinations. There was a seafood soup and a seafood pasta, which both had plenty of shrimp and fish in them. The pizzas looked like they would have been worthy of coming to this restaurant for them alone. The calzone was good, but beware--you are in Wisconsin, which means prepare yourself for gobs of cheese. Even the chicken calzone was oozing. We didn't order dessert as we had made other plans, but the options looked delicious. Everything was very reasonably priced, especially for the dressier atmosphere that the decorations conveyed. If I have the opportunity, I would love to return!

    Meh, to paraphrase my best friend in the city. Saturday night at 845, the place had only a few tables. The manager/host, bartender and server were all very attentive from the start. Whether it was boredom or just a sign of good service, it doesn't matter. They did a solid job, and I'll leave it at that. Decor was forgettable. Dark furniture, low lights, and pretty quiet. The music was cool though. At one point, the Perfect Circle cover of Imagine (Beatles) was playing. Random for the setting, but, whatever, I liked it. The food was interesting. We were served bread with oil and balsamic to start. Nice touch, albeit a little light of flavor. Wine selections weren't great, but for the price and pour size, weren't bad. Entrees around the table were my Stromboli, a Chicken Parm, Chicken Marsala and Veg Tortellini. Strom was good. Very middle of the road, with a spicy arrabiata sauce on the side. Overall, very neutral, but safe enough to get again. The Parm was a Parm, properly cooked and flavored with the right amount of sauce and cheese. The only thing I'd have preferred would be to make it a sammie on garlic bread. Again though, very middle of the road The Marsa-la (sorry, needless inside joke that only the girl will get) was less mushroomy than I'd have liked. It was good, but not at all what I like a Marsala to bs. But since I'm both Italian and a chef, I'll say I don't know what I'm talking about and give it a 3. Lastly, the Tort. This was the best of the entrees, as the flavor and look of the dish were both good. The pickiest of our eaters (no, this really wasn't me) had it and ate it without a single disparaging look or comment. Dessert was a shared strawberry tiramisu. It was more like a sugary strawberry shortcake from your freezer section. I'll just leave it at that. Overall, it was ok. In a pinch, I might eat there again. It was a step up and over the god-awful OG, prolly on par with Carraba's. I wouldn't suggest it as a destination, but I wouldn't say to avoid it either.

    Excellent food, service and location. I dined here on a Tuesday night and it was not crowded. The ambiance is nice but not pretentious enough to make me feel underdressed. The wait staff was very nice, especially considering the fact that my party was busy in conversation the entire night. I ordered the Lasagna, which I consider to be the benchmark for Italian restaurants. It was excellent and with a glass of wine my dinner cost roughly 15-20. The bread with olive oil and vinegar was a nice touch as well. Great place for a date!

    The menu looks great but everything I have had so far has been mediocre. The food just isn't very flavorful and everything is very oily. I have only had salads and pasta dishes so maybe their pizza is better. The atmosphere is nice and service is good.

    When I was there I was brought a salad with a dead fly in it. I brought it to the waitresses attention and I was offered another meal, but I declined because all of my party was already finished with their meals. I WAS STILL CHARGED FOR THE SALAD. Another time I was brought a mojito with another bug in it. I emailed the owners because I couldn't believe that on two consecutive visits I had two bugs. I went there yesterday for a business lunch and one their employees hit my car in the parking lot hard enough to move it sideways, causing at least $2,000 damange... and I was given the bill at the end of our meal, that I didn't eat because I was dealing with the police and your employee. Are you serious? Starbucks gives me my drink free if I have to wait longer than 2 minutes for it! Terrible. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from this place.

    Perched atop a hill overlooking one of the main highways in Brookfield, Louise's restaurant sure does have a great view of the WI sunset; I can imagine their patio seating being quite nice in the warmer months of the year. I went to Louise's on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was quite slow, so service and the food prep. was about as quick as it could be. The fettucini with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes in a cream sauce was quite delicious as well as artfully presented on my plate. The bread basket with oil and vinegar served while my entree was prepared was also delicious; the various types of bread were covered in cheeses and seasonings and were all quite moist. This was my first time to Louise's and I think that, next time I'm in Brookfield, I may eat there again.

    I used to love this place for lunch.....last two times were so crappy that today I actually returned my meal. I'd never suggest the chicken parm or the shrimp scampi. Today I merely asked to have the tails pulled off of the shrimp, but instead they tossed in shrimp that was previous cooked....it was hard and you could tell it was not cooked for my dish. Very disappointing!

    I love the pizza here. That is all I have had, but it is that good. I love the bread, too. Warm, free, and bottomless. While the recently added additional medians in front of the road up to the restaurant (and Chuck E. Cheese) may make you think it is a sign from God that you are not supposed to go, don't worry; it is just a sign from the city of Brookfield that so many left turn opportunities = accidents. The only thing is that it is loud, and in all of my experiences sitting at the round tables, it is hard to have conversations at dinner.

    On a recent visit my dad and I encountered an extremely busy Louise's with a long wait. The place was unexpectedly packed. Normally my dad would insist on going elsewhere--he hates crowds--but it was barely 10 degrees outside and the thought of heading back into the cold was unbearable. My dad and I frequently visit Louise's because it's a central location for us with consistently good food in a comfortable (albeit noisier) atmosphere. This night I watched the staff from the perspective of someone with an extensive background working in food and beverage. The staff here managed this night with ease. The kind and patient man at the desk who took names didn't have a microphone at his disposal to call anyone to their table. Instead, he walked through the bar, which was almost impassable, to locate each party waiting. The wait staff serving tables in this area didn't flinch, they made their way though without pushing or becoming irritable as those of us waiting crowded their tables. The bartenders had guests 2+ deep; they were relaxed and efficient. One young trainee was helping everyone. Louise's staff kicked it into gear and did what it took to manage the unexpected crowd. No one apologized unnecessarily for being the place to be this night. Yet everyone was sincere and attentive. We waited for our table and once seated, were taken care of promptly. The food was as good as ever, hot and delicious without an extensive wait. Our waitress checked back often and about 2/3 of the way through our meal she was rejoined with her shadow, the aforementioned trainee. Kudos Louise's, this is no accident. Someone must be doing something right here. Had anyone come unraveled this night, it would have all come to pieces and we would have experienced a much different scene. The staff was productive and busy and having fun! As much as my dad enjoys a quieter scene, even he was relaxed and happy.

    This is a nice little hidden gem past all the chaos on Bluemound. I have had many meals here, brunch or dinner, and I've never been disappointed. Excellent value, and a nice relaxed atmosphere there. The service has always been good, also. My favorite is French toast at brunch, especially the strawberries Foster when it's in season. Bananas Foster is certainly good, also.

    Typically we have enjoyed Louise's but had a terrible dinner tonight. Food was not cooked properly and after being sent back, it was returned just as bad the second time around. Server and manager were pleasant and apologetic but unable to get the kitchen to prepare a decent meal. I think we will find another place for Italian next time.

    I too have thoroughly enjoyed several trips to this branch of Louise's... until Saturday night... and that's when they went a long way to destroying some good memories. Mostly when I've gone there, it's been at some mid-afternoon hour when it's unusual to have more than 3-5 other people in the restaurant, let alone at the bar, so had never had occasion to attempt to make a reservation. Saturday night, after another enervating evening attending my brother-in-law in intensive care at the hospital, I went to the trouble of calling ahead to see how long the wait would be, and was told 10-15 minutes. So I gave them my name since we were 5 minutes away, and asked for a reservation for 2. When we got there, there was no hostess for 5 minutes, and when somebody did finally show up, it was to tell us that, in fact, they did not accept "call-aheads"... As it happened, we ran into some other family members who had also made a reservation, and were patiently waiting, with drinks, at the bar... so we discussed adding our name to their group. Another 5 minutes passed. We were hungry. The restaurant was full, and the hostess didn't seem to know how to handle the press of people at the door. My husband and I gave up and had the serendipity of discovering Saffron Indian Bistro just down the road (where we were seated after NO wait). We heard later from some of the family members who waited that they waited in vain for an hour before also giving up. All this is to say that the food (and especially the "homemade" ravioli appetizers) is very good. Just make sure you double-check on whether you are in fact allowed to make reservations, or plan on visiting at off-hours.

    I really enjoyed this lovely Italian restaurant. Everything about the ambiance is welcoming, and the food is amazing. We were started with fresh bread and dipping oil, then my friends and I each tried a different ravioli dish. All were delicious. Besides the raviolis, there were pages of specialty pastas and pizzas to choose from as well. We left room for desserts - both the tiramisu and the cheesecake were tasty.

    My wife and I visited Louise's in Brookfield last night. Our past experiences have been a series of highs and lows. Unfortunately, after last's night meal, we probably won't be back. We do like the fact that they are not a mega-chain and say that things are made from scratch. Let's begin with the service. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was less than a quarter full. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes before even being acknowledged by our server, despite the fact that she had been bringing things to tables around us all the while. She took our drink orders and returned with them moments later. The "signature" Chambord Margarita sounded intriguing; a combination of good tequila, fresh lime, sour, and a splash of Chambord. What I received was a blended raspberry flavored mess. No lime, no hint of tequila. We ordered the chopped salad, the Angel Hair with Plum Tomato Concasse and Fresh Basil and the Stromboli with Arrabbiata. The dissappoint came with the Angel Hair dish. What is a very simple dish was average pasta with chunks of tomatoes fresh from the can (and not even a good can) and two, yes two tiny basil leaves. It was just plain terrible and my wife sent it back and we shared my stromboli. The stromboli was a great dish with a thin cracker crust, a good blend of cheese, spinach, and pepperoni, among other things with a side of spicy tomato sauce. Very good indeed. They did subtract the pasta from our bill, but when our server promptly laid the check down without even asking if we cared for dessert, we knew this visit would be our last. With spotty service, an easy dish that was just plain terrible, and a rushed mood on an empty Sunday night, Louise's failed in so many ways.

    A great place for a lunch meeting or dinner. Louise's has a great menu and excellent service. I like that its off of Bluemound drive and away from things perched up on the hill. I've been here a few times the patio is great in the summer but today it was all about minestrone soup and the grilled chicken sandwich (served inside). I like the portion sizes and the bread and oil is excellent and unique. The pizzas are well done, "the four way" is perfect for someone looking for a healthy version of pizza. Although I'm not sure cucumbers belong on a pizza. They have a nice bar upfront with a good selection. Might even be a good place to check out when on your way home some evening for an after work cocktail. I have had the brunch once and it was great we had a dozen of us in the group and they were able to accommodate us easily.

    This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I have eaten here time and time again and I've never been disappointed with the food. They start you off with foccica bread and oil. The portions are decently sized and not overpriced. They have a goat cheese salad with sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and a spring mix. It is fabulous. I've ordered it as both a starter and a meal. They have a parpadelle pasta sausage dish with tomatoes in a light sauce that I get most often that I truly enjoy. They have a nice variety of pastas, pizzas, and calzones. This restaurant is fairly modern inside and sits up on the hill on the south side of Bluemound.

    Sangria aces. Pizza good...a little lite on toppings but flavorful & well baked--especially given the thin crust. That's the good news...the bad news was the calamari which was flavorless & chewy accompanied by an equally flavorless marina sauce. A note about the service...sat in the bar, sangria arrived promptly...the calamari followed but the pizza order somehow got lost...between hostess who took order & the kitchen...saved by a waitress who was both attentive & patient. Would recommend with the exception of the calamari--$15 wasted.

    Louise's is a great little Italian place. I love that they actually make the pasta fresh and use lots of wonderful veggies! Everything I've had is very good - the ravoli, the pizza, soup, calzone... but my favorite, the thing I dream about that brings me back here is that sun-dried tomato/goat cheese salad. Ummm! Also, the bread in that basket is quite tasty, I love that there are several types in there. And be sure to visit the bathroom before you leave. It's beautiful, I'm dying to do that tiny mosaic glass tile work somewhere in my house...! Last visit I noticed a party in a secret back room that I want to check out for an event, looks promising.
