Came here on a double date, and had a great time! We came 20 minutes early and tried wine samples while we waited to be seated, this helps time fly. If you are a wine connoisseur, this will interest you. Timothy our waiter was great, informed and pleasant he walked us through the menu, answered questions and even suggested what wine to pair with our chosen meals. Everything was filling and delicious. Go with a bigger party and please try every plate. Everything on the menu is worth trying once, which makes you want to be a return guest. I had an overall great experience and wish this chain was in New York. Good: -Asian Pork Belly Tostadas (appetizer) -Mexican Drunken Shrimp (appetizer) -Over the Border Egg Rolls (appetizer) -Blackened Ahi Tuna (entree) -Surf & Turf with Salmon and Parmesan-Crusted Filet Medallions (entree) -Short Rib Risotto (entree) -Gnocchi Carbonara (entree) -Mary's Potatoes (side) -Bottle of Gewürztraminer (sweet white wine) -While you wait to be seated, try complimentary wine samples -RSVP on Open Table for 100 points Bad: -a bit noisy if you're sensitive to that

I may have just eaten the best dessert I've ever had on the road here. But I'm getting ahead of myself. A) The pretzel bread is delicious and - best part - complimentary. B) I'd recommend the gnocchi carbonara to anyone who asks, even if they're on a diet. C) If you came here for only one thing, it better be the banana bread ice cream sandwich. I practically sighed out loud eating this and you will too. In summary; just go there.

One of our favorites for date night! We are members of the Wine of the Month club and the two bottle membership includes the monthly wine tasting. So we started the night tasting 8 wines. If someone is new to wines, have them start off with the sweeter wine tasting list unless they are adventurous. We then sat down for a quite dinner. We shared the Chicken tortilla soup and wedge salad. I then had the Churrasco grilled steak, and my wife is gluten free which Cooper's Hawk has a very extensive menu for their gluten free customers. My wife had the Short Rib Rissotto which she raved about. I've always been a fan of the Red Wine Braised Short Ribs. I've had the Trio of Medallions and Maple, Mustard & Pretzel Crusted pork chop main courses in the past which was all excellent. For the appetizers, try the Tai Lettuce Wraps or Blackened Ahi Tuna. For me, can't miss! I've never had bad service, accommodating, fast and friendly staff. Outdoor seating, big dinning room, average bar and big wine tasting room. To summarize, 1. Service A+ 2. Food & wines (wonderful variety) A+ 3. Atmosphere A (can be romantic or great for groups) 4. Cleanliness A+ Yes, this is located in Brookfield Square mall and the outdoor seating view is not spectacular, but this isn't Napa! Enjoy the outdoor seating in Wisconsin or go inside for a more romantic setting.

I think I may have had a case of food poisoning last summer (the grouper perhaps). I called them right away the next day. The management was very concerned and even the corporate folks reached out to me. They followed up with a letter. Although I couldn't confirm the source, they stepped up. GREAT CUSTOMER SEVICE! Short Rib Risotto and the wine club benefits alone make them one of my favorite places to dine in the area.

Great atmosphere, professional service, and great food. Came here for a work dinner with some colleagues. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by someone holding samples of wine - don't mind if I do! We were quickly seated and our server stopped by immediately. We were notified that happy hour was ending but that he would ensure we got our orders in on time - cool! We each ordered a drink and appetizers, and we were served their signature bread while we waited. Their signature bread tastes similar to a pretzel without salt and is quite tasty. Our drinks showed up a few minutes later - I ordered a glass of the Lux Chardonnay which turned out to be a good choice. Our server informed me that the difference between their Lux Chardonnay and 'regular' Chardonnay is that the Lux is French oak, and the other is American oak. Fancy. For my appetizer I ordered the Asian Pork Belly Tostadas which turned out to be very tasty. The pork belly wasn't overly fatty and had a nice flavor to it. My main course was the Red Wine Braised Short Ribs which were also very tasty. Although slightly well-done, the red wine sauce and sautéed veggies helped keep things rolling. Pretty classy place with great food and great service. Add dim lighting, higher end menu options, and a great wine selection, and I'd definitely recommend this place as a date night venue.

Been here a few times, its just ok. Ive had the chicken chorizo sandwich, the flatbreads, and a salad... all just average. I guess this place is known for wine but thats not my thing. The best thing about this place is the warm pretzel bread.

Okay, it's few and far between I give 5 stars. You may not even prefer to eat some of the menu items. However- the service is always impeccable, steaks and fish are always cooked perfectly, apps are unique and tasty, and it is consistent. You will always know what you're getting which is huge when there many other non-chain restaurants you can drop $150 per couple. We don't go often but when we do it's always what we wanted. I can get a better steak; there are better wines. Listen though: when EVERYTHING is at least 8/10 all the time from walking in the door to walking out again, you go back again.

Don't let my average rating fool you, I am a big fan of Cooper's Hawk. The location is nothing special. Currently it's sitting right next to bunch of construction, which makes the outdoor seating pretty unpleasant. However, even if it wasn't for the construction your still sitting off a mall parking lot. Not ideal. The service is always excellent. Attentive servers and good vibes. The food, for the most park, is very good. The beef tip risotto will rock your world. The different bruschettas are all slammin in their own way. The maple pretzel mustard crusted pork chop has great flavor and is nice and juicy. I have no complaints about the food at all, however it is the reason for my average rating. The food is good, it's just nothing special.

I love this place for their lettuce wraps and quality of service. We have eaten here many times without issues. I wish they would sell their caramel soy sauce that they use for their wraps. The only thing I don't care for is the mad about of people in the tasting area that you have to weave your way through to get to the dining area. For the price of a meal, you would think there would be a classier entrance.

Cooper's Hawk is always at the top of my list for a night of wine & dine. When you walk in, you're in the retail store/tasting room. A server will greet you with a sample of their Wine of the Month. Make your way through the wine accessories and gourmet condiments they sell and either head to the host stand, for a table, or to the bar, or to the tasting counter. If you choose to do a tasting, you'll receive 8 samples for $7 and change. They change their wine tasting every month, so it's always a different set of 8 wines. They have a dessert case, with gourmet truffles and cheesecake pops. When you do the wine tasting, you get a discount; the truffles are only $1. If you decide to head into the bar, it's a great place to sit and enjoy wine and appetizers. Happy Hour ends at 6pm, so come early and enjoy ANY glass of wine for $5. I like the Lux Meritage. It usually sells for $12 a glass, but during Happy Hour it's only $5. Stay for dinner and you cannot miss with any of their dishes. The excellent staff will bring out complimentary pretzel bread to start you off. I've tried several entrees and have never been disappointed. I especially like the Soy Ginger Salmon and Blackened Ahi Tuna. One thing I really love about the restaurant, is that they are very accommodating to food allergies. I am lactose intolerant, and the staff always makes sure that I get the right dressing on my salad, the right sides with my entrees and never any dairy added to my dish. I've never had bad service or a bad meal!

I have to say I love Cooper's Hawk. I have always had friendly people there helping me. I love to go there for their wine tastings. I used to be a part of their wine club and it was very affordable. I had to cancel when I moved. Their menu is very inclusive and delicious. It has changed a bit since they first opened but most places do. I remember going to a dinner and wine event when they first opened and fell in love with their food. This is a great place to go for a good dinner or a quick glass of wine if you are needing a break from shopping.

Myself and 5 coworkers were visiting the area from California and we're looking for a place to eat. Strictly went off the Yelp review and chose this place. I'm so glad we did! When you walk into the restaurant, they have a large gift shop area and wine tasting. We had a short wait but it was great because the wine tasting was free!! The service was great and the food was really good too. We all really liked this place!

Love this place! Have been here 4 or 5 times and always eat in the bar room. Very lively and lots of action! Started with a cheesetray and wine flight - was very good! Had the sausage flatbread as my entree - delicous! Great little shop too with lots of wine trinkets for sale. Will def be back.

Since we moved here in November, Cooper's Hawk has quickly become the go to place when the Hubben and I want a good meal without a lot of fuss. The fact that it is also a winery with good wine makes it double awesome! The Hubben is a creature of habit so I don't think he's ever gotten anything other than the Surf & Turf (filet medallions and the drunken shrimp are his combo), but I've been all over the map....the gnocchi carbonara, the shortrib risotto, the parmesan chicken. And it has all been great! I try to always follow their qine pairing recommendations, and so far they have all been spot on. The fact that they will let me taste test the wine before committing to a glass is also hugely welcome. Be careful about that pretzel bread...you could easily make a meal out of it if you want since they'll bring you as much as you want, but you don't want to miss out on the meal! We've never had anything other than impeccable service from our waiters, and I went ahead a joined the wine club on our second visit. It's really a very good deal considering all you get! Long story short: Good food, good wine, good service. You should go too, but get a reservation....the place is always busy!

Enjoyed a Ladies' Lunch here today with my grad school buds. We had a lot to catch up on so we took awhile to order. Our waiter was very patient and helpful! While we looked over the menu we had Hibiscus tea and pretzel bread - yum! We were deciding between a few appetizers and our waiter recommended the potstickers, which were fresh and yummy. I ordered a combination soup and salad - butternut squash and Cobb. The portion size was good and the taste was again fresh and savory. Our teas and water were constantly refilled and the service was wonderful! Didn't get a chance to try the wine this time, but definitely plan to return!

I went here for dinner on Saturday night. They're usually pretty busy and have a wait, but luckily they were just slow enough that I could get a table right away. It was my first time there, pretty neat concept/set-up. They also sell bottles of wine and different wine related items at the front of the store for you to take home. I had one of the wine flights, I highly recommend this if you like sampling different wines at a good price. I had the dessert wine flight and my girlfriend had the sparkling wine flight. I tend to enjoy sparkling drinks, but the wines were a little too much for me when eating food too, too much carbonation will fill you up quickly. The dessert wines were fantastic, only one I did not care for was the sweet red, the grape jam flavor was too strong for my taste. My favorite was the rhubarb wine, very good flavor, perfect for before or after dinner. For my entree I got the Short Rib Risotto, which was amazing! The short rib was cooker perfectly, and so so tender. My only complaint is there wasn't more. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night.

Stopped in the other night to bring some other family members since we enjoyed our first visit so much. This round was not quite as good as the first time, though we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I realized that ambiance and where you sit makes a pretty big difference in experience here, especially if you pay attention to those sorts of things. Ask for a table by the casks as it's a much more intimate and classier, rather than in the middle of the dining room which is where we were seated this time. Particularly when the dining room is empty except for your party.

NORMALLY I am NOT a 5 star kind of person on here. I hold my recreational spending to an extremely high expectation that is not unreasonable as I am expected to do my job to the best of my ability and with a smile- and I do. Jonathan our server was calm, patient and nothing short of amazing. I have a dairy allergy and going out to eat especially anywhere outside of the Eastside (milwaukee) is rough at best. Servers, bar staff, general managers and surprisingly kitchen staff are completely unaware of the food in their establishment. Jonathan assured me in the first few moments of our interaction that the kitchen staff "takes dairy allergies very seriously." He established an understanding of what I was allergic to, not assuming dairy meant egg products like mayo. He was aware the fried appetizers that didn't have dairy in them were also fried in oil that appetizers with cheese were fried in. Long story short, Jonathan was on point and made this dinning experience wonderful. Food was great but it was our server who made it so. My husband was so happy with our lunch he tipped Jonathan 25%!

The service is outstanding for the most part. Our waitress hooked us up without about 3 half glasses of wine "samples" each fo free. But she also asked us if we wanted to order an appetizer approx 5 times. The atmosphere is trendy / modern. Dark like fine dining but loud. The wine is great. The food has been great my first 2 times there but this last time my chicken was dry. Their food prices should be $2-4 more for the location / type of restaurant but they are priced in the advantage of the consumer, they have raised their prices for the wine / wine club, though. I like this place and would go back again, but I'm comfortable with it being once a year, as long as it's at least once.

Cooper's Hawk is a very fun restaurant and wine bar! This was my fourth time here. Ive dined in the dining room three times and this time sat at the bar for some wine and appetizers. The dining room is very nice and the service has always been very good. Each time I have had their chicken gnocchi dish. It was delicious! There bread is always very good! The bar is very nice, great atmosphere and friendly bartenders. We had a flatbread, potstickers, cheese tray and some wine. They were all very good! In terms of wine - they have all varietals of "Cooper's Hawk" wine including some upper elechion wines. in other words, they dont sell wines like Caymus or Cakebread or any name you have ever heard of - they only sell their wines, and they are pretty good! They also have wine flights available where you can choose 3 different wines and get 2 oz samples of each of them.

A winery in Wisconsin , I can dig it . They have a wine club that is pretty legit . You can sign up to be a one bottle member or a two bottle member . The club also gives you access to members only events . If you loose your card or forgot it , they can look you up by name . Their menu is beyond organized and paired with all their wine . They have a lot of variety as far as all the meats and lighter fair options go . They limit the options per category, which increases the quality and taste of each food item . Anything you get here is going to be made with care and has the time needed to properly cook each dish ordered . I have tried pretty much everything and recommend the lobster bisque , Mediterranean chop salad with shrimp , trio of medallions or the crusted grouper . They give you warm pretzel bread to munch on before your meal . The service is too notch and very professional . They have a large restaurant seating , a side room that could be used for parties and some additional seating in the bar . They also have a little shop area when you walk in. They sell everything wine related including decorative wine glasses , wine box gift sets , wine bottle accessories, noodles and sauces ! It's a great stop to pick up a gift for every wine head in the family ! They also have a mini bakery that sells amazing desserts and chocolate covered strawberries ! If you wanna try some of their food and wanna save on the price , I suggest coming for lunch !

Came here for a nice dinner with friends last night but left a tad disappointed. Dinner started well with appetizers and drinks. Unfortunately the empty appetizer plates stayed on our table until the entrées were delievered. Half of our party ordered either soups or salads and they never came. I also never received a fork for my dinner, fortunately there was an extra on the table. My wife ordered a wine right as entrées were coming out but didn't get it until she was almost done eating. The food was good but the experience really ruined it. Chances are we will not be going back there. For how much we spent we can get better food and service elsewhere.

I came here once earlier this year because I received a gift card as a gift. My parents loved their experience, I thought the staff was great but the food to be below average. I had a steak and I just was not impressed. The atmosphere was nice and I have to reiterate so we're the workers.

We went here for our anniversary and it was an excellent experience. The atmosphere was very dim and romantic, with a rustic feel to it. The appetizer sampler was AMAZING and our server was one of the best I've had ANYWHERE. Unfortunately the main course I ordered (surf and turf, Mexican shrimp and fillet medallions) was not as good as the appetizer. The shrimp were very plain tasting and cold by the time I got them. I didn't say anything because the service was so good that it made up for it. The main course was the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars. My wife's meal however was excellent (fillet mignon). I will definitely go back and would recommend this place to anyone. With drinks, appetizer, and main course it was about $140.00

My husband made reservations for us at Cooper's Hawk Winery for our Anniversary. We couldn't have been happier with the service and quality of food. Our server Ashley was wonderful! She knew the menu, made great recommendations (the Asian Pork Belly Tostadas were AMAZING), and was prompt, friendly & knowledgeable. A manager came over at one point to check in and congratulate us too. Overall, wonderful experience, cute restaurant, great food - we'll definitely be back!

Not a good experience unfortunately. Food was just OK Atmosphere was LOUD Service was very poor from the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail through dinner. General Manager tried to recover with a no charge dinner, a diner certificate and an offer to cover the dry cleaning after the waiter not only broke a wine glass on our table, but also spilling red wine on two of our guests. We had to change tables based on the potential for glass chards. Unfortunately, it was a no win situation for the General Manager by that point. I think she knew it too! We did remain polite. Paid the bill and left never to return. Even for free! Sorry

I don't think this is a bad restaurant per se, but they definitely didn't live up to the expectation that the menu and atmosphere set. They have quite a lengthy lunch menu (with the wine list in the front -- a telling sign of their priorities!), with prices ranging from fairly reasonable to a bit much. Our server seemed pretty disappointed when we said we were not members of the wine club and did not want to sample any wines to have with lunch. Well, guess what -- some people just want to eat! She admitted she was new, and took a bit of hemming and hawing to identify the "Parmesan levash" listed with the Caesar salad (turns out it's a cracker-like bread on the side -- couldn't they just say bread?). I requested the croutons to be left off my salad, but they were not, so I ended up picking them out. When the server cleared my plate she apologized, but I'm really not sure how the kitchen didn't get the memo, since my mom ordered the same salad from the gluten free menu and had no problem. The salad was mediocre, just somewhat wilted chopped lettuce topped with waaay too much shaved Asiago (a little cheese goes a long way, guys), though the salmon on top (a $6 add-on) was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and easily the highlight of the meal. The lobster and crab bisque was my biggest disappointment. Not only was it not technically a bisque, which should be smooth, the finely diced vegetables in it were the only thing I tasted. There was almost no shellfish flavor and all, and only a few small shreds of it. Plus, it was only lukewarm when it came out of the kitchen, so it got cold pretty quickly. Would I go back? I'm not sure. I think if I knew what to order (as in, what's actually good), I might, but since I'm not into wine, I might pass on Cooper's Hawk next time.

  • Amy W.

Turns out I love this place. They have a great gluten free menu with gluten free buns/rolls wherever there was a pretzel roll mentioned. Did a great job accommodating dairy free too. I had a side salad with honey mustard vinaigrette - so good! The I had the chicken chorizo burger - great southwestern flavor. They gave us a free dessert since it was our first time and the Hubble loved the banana bread caramelized banana bread ice cream sandwich - yum! You should really try the raspberry hibiscus iced tea too. Tasty lunch for sure!

Wish there were more vegetarian options but great ambience, food and wine pairings. Feels a little awkward and sleazy to have to wait for your table in their gift shop. Overall, great food, great time, will return.

What a great place and a superb restaurant concept! I tried the drunken shrimp appetizer, a salad and the risotto with short rib entree. The drunken shrimp could have been a meal in itself. It was decadent and I enjoyed every bite, but was perhaps a bit too over-the-top; one or two too many different flavors going at once. I would still eat it again and gladly. The salad was really nothing special. Except for a very good, Greek-style vinaigrette, the salad seemed completely uninspired, belonging more in a greasy spoon than a place with high culinary aspirations. Would have earned a 5th star from me if the salad hadn't been an afterthought. After being brought the wrong entree, the short ribs over risotto were worth the wait. Sensational. The reduction had an intense flavor that paired well with the glass of house Meritage I drank with dinner. One of the best beef dishes I've eaten in ages.

I went to Cooper's Hawk last night for the second time, this time to do the wine tasting and dinner. This was my second time doing the wine tasting and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. I did the sweet tasting and they had a great variety available with good sized pours. I definitely finished the wine tasting feeling pretty good. Dinner was great as well. I was there with a friend who is gluten free and they have an entire menu that is gluten free. They also brought her out her own gluten free bread at the beginning of the meal. They definitely catered to her needs which I thought was a really awesome touch. We started off with a gluten free appetizer, the Mexican Drunken Shrimp. HOLY MOLY, this was heaven on a plate. I will order this every time I go to Cooper's Hawk even if I am not with someone who is gluten free. The appetizer came with five good sized shrimp that were cooked perfectly and then wrapped in crispy bacon. They were served with guacamole that rivals guacamole you will have made table side at a Mexican restaurant and a tequila lime butter sauce. SOOO GOOD. Do yourself a favor and order this, like now. I also ordered a Blue Cheese Burger. It was also good but didn't compare at all to the pure bliss that was the Mexican Drunken Shrimp. Overall, this place is great. If you join the wine club, you get two bottles of wine a month along with two tastings. If you eat dinner there, you can even get your bottles with dinner. They also have just started having your bottles roll over every month, so if you don't make it one month, you will still get your bottles. One thing to note is to come early on weekend nights if you want to do a tasting. The tasting area gets busy fast and you most likely will be on top of the people next to you. It was much more enjoyable doing the tasting on a weeknight when there were less people there.

This is a great chain and this location does not disappoint. The staff is friendly, and very nice. It's a clean restaurant, nice bar. I have closed their bar several times. :) I love that Cooper's Hawk, in general, make good wine casual. I also love the menu, especially the Drunken Mexican Shrimp!

My wife absolutely loves it here. From the food to the atmosphere you eat it, all the way to the service received. So I finally decided to go with her and experience it myself. We got seated right away and our server was very attentive. We received our drinks and ordered our food. So I ordered the pork medallions and took one bite - I hated it. Now I believe this is due to my taste in food. I just felt like it was drowning in an oil like sauce. Maybe it was the mustard? So the waitress took it away and I replaced the pork with a medium well burger. Well now the medium well burger was oozing red juice and was very pink inside. I rarely ever order a burger from a restaurant, I should have known better. Well at this time my appetite is ruined and the wife (who loved her food) is about finished. The waitress got both bad plates removed from the bill and still maintained great customer service. The manager came over and asked if there was anything to be done and I told him no. I still rate this place with 4 stars due to great customer service and the way they handled everything. I will go back and try something else at another time. I think I just haven't found my dish yet?

I am a wine club member and am very pleased with my membership as well as the restaurant. I love that they provide you with a suggestion of wine to pair to with your food. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is phenomenal because it is cozy, yet dark and romantic for any occasion. The noise level is minimal and it seems like you and your guest are the only ones in the restaurant. This place stays busy, so the best time to come here is between open and about 3p. The bar area is always full of people, but it gives you a social environment because everyone is drinking wine. You should also check out the Sunday Brunch. It is delicious!! They also have an awesome wine shop that has every wine accessory for the wine enthusiasts!! My favorite foods are: Turkey and Brie with walnut and apple with Red Wine and with half Wedge Salad ( I like to have my dressing on the side with also a side of ranch) Any of the burgers Key Lime Pie (Or Key Lime Truffles)

I really liked this place. The food was awesome - a friend and I split some gnocchi dish with butternut squash and a barbeque ranch chicken salad. Both were tasty and had no complaints from either of us, except the portion of the gnocchi was a little underwhelming. We also tried a flight of their whites - I love anything where you can sample a little of everything. The service was friendly, attentive, but a little slow at times. The ambiance is so nice that I didn't even mind. This is definitely a great date spot...now, to find a date. Anyways, I will be back to try other things off their menu. Everything sounded so good. I might have to come back and check out their little wine shop in the front; it could be a great place to find some presents for my wine-loving friends!

I received a wine club membership as a christmas gift so what better excuse to try both the dining and the bar! This place has a lot of great things going on. The service was really good, and the bartender was nice enough to explain a few things about their wine to us during a pretty busy time. Atmosphere isn't my favorite, but they're doing what they can with the space. The food wasn't particularly memorable, like a casual step above bar food. Considering I had to make a reservation several days in advance to get a party of four in here on a Friday night, it was definitely over-hyped. *Not sure what you're in the mood for and out in Brookfield? Plan your trip in advance here and you won't be disappointed.

This is a great place for not only wine but for their food as well. You can sample the wine before dinner, so when it's time to order, you can order the wine you really like. Nice décor and the wait staff and bartenders were all attentive and friendly. You need reservations since it does get crowded and the parking is sometimes a challenge.

Nice restaurant. Not too loud, but the lighting is a bit dim. I had the jambalya - good flavor without the heat. I would have preferred a bit of a kick though. This place makes its own wine and will give free samples. Try the pinot noir.

Cooper's Hawk has delicious food and tasty wine, but there is some work to be done on how they manage reservations and noise. We were seated 15 minutes late even though we had a reservation. I was appreciative of the fact the hostess came over to us while we waited to provide updates and to appologize, but once we were seated, the waiter was constantly rushing us. He made it very apparent that he wanted to provide quick, short responses, grabbed plates that were still being worked on before even saying hello to alert us of his presence, and was circling around us while we finished our meals. The noise contributed to the less-than-favorable circumstances. With only 4 people in my party, we shouldn't have had as hard of a time hearing each other as we did. If the food wasn't so good, I wouldn't keep going back. It's one thing to have good wine, but to have exceptional food to go with it.... Makes it hard to say no, even with bad service. However, the past few visits with worsening noise and reservation control have led me to start to wonder if it is worth it after all.

Love this place. My wife and are go here all the time. The food is awesome but the wine is ever better. My suggestions: Lux Cab or Sparkling Red Ceasar Salad Gnocchi Carbonara Perfect date night, great service...All around A++

Considering the lack of luck I've had with other Milwaukee restaurants, I have to give this place 4 stars. You walk into the large, lovely wine shop - where you can sample their large selection of wines. (The viognier was really nice but a bit too sweet for me). They only serve their own wines in the restau, so it's quite lucky they make decent wine. After the wine shop, you move on to the large dining room. We were given a big, 4-seater booth to snuggle in as the place was relatively empty around 10:45 AM on a Sunday. (It filled up while we were there). My husband had his normal Sunday-out drink of a bloody mary, which apparently in Chicago and Milwaukee comes with a bunch of skewered bite sized morsels laid atop the drink, and with a beer back. He said it was 'yummy' and enjoyed the beer as well. One of the bites on the skewer was a shrimp he didn't want, so I ate it and was surprised at the somewhat cajun flavor of it - yes, yum! I had a Sauvingon Blanc that was simple with a nice round creaminess. My husband loved and devoured the enormous sticky bun that came in lieu of your traditional bread option (which apparently gets served around noon). The chopped Caesar is no joke - they chop the sh-t out of that thing!! I found the addition of pesto flavor to this dish rather interesting. I prefer a typical Caesar but it was fun to mix it up and have something new that was prepared well. My husband ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread which certainly had ample chicken. The crust was very flat and crispy, and all in all tasty with a good presentation. I myself would have wanted a little more red onions on it, but still, it was quite good. I found it very hard to choose my next dish, as this place has a ton of really interesting, as well as traditional, options. That said, I jumped at the chance to try the Ahi tuna tacos. The Ahi tuna tacos had so much going on - great crispy shell, a nice coleslaw mixture on the bottom of each taco, creamy sriracha sauce on the top, good pico and cilantro, and nice avocados that if you're not careful when biting down - shoot out every which way! The only thing you can't taste in these tacos is the tuna. I pulled some out, and aside from the dry rub seasoning, there is no tuna flavor. That was kind of a bummer. There was just nothing going on with this fish. These may as well have been vegetarian tacos - and as those, I would say, they were great. I was also impressed with the amount of tacos I received. While they were small, this is a nice place and I anticipated maybe 3 tacos, not the 5 loaded tacos I received. We went here on the suggestion of our airbnb host, and I'm very glad we did. I should also point out the waitstaff were nice and attentive. I would definitely go back here.

What a neat place! ...it's exactly what Brookfield needed. We grabbed a quick late lunch here and we were surprised at the large dining room crowd at 2pm. That's a good sign, right? Even the bar area was full. This menu is intense!!! There's something for everyone here and plate sizes from small snacks to feasts. My friend and I ordered the lobster bisque and it was absolutely divine! We also snacked on the ahi tuna tacos, which were also quite awesome. The waiter was very generous with allowing us to taste a couple of wines (good size pours too!) before investing in a glass. We ended up shopping in the wine boutique for quite a bit and I even bought a bubbly for my mom as a gift. (Great gift ideas here, BTW!!) I contemplated buying my parents a 3-month membership because the benefits look awesome (besides getting 3 bottles of wine!)

Tried to dine here for an early lunch. Arrived at 1058 and the sign on the front door said the restaurant hours were 11am on... Apparently the restaurant doesn't actually serve food until 1130. Strange thing to put on the front door!

This place is pretty neat. Came here for the wine. The menu was lacking a bit, not too many meatless or cheeseless options. The wine was delicious.

The pretzel bread is to die for. What a way to start a meal. Everything about this restaurant is great except for the noise level. Service was top notch and the food was way above average.

Solid inexpensive wine. The wallet won't take a hit ordering a bottle. I had the New York strip which was decent. Not bad for the value. The fiancée had the pork medallions which were great. Crab cakes as a appetizer, very lump and tasty! 2 ppl will run about 75-100 range. Worth given a shot. Tip: Grab a bottle or two to go. Also, take advantage of free tastings.

The front was a bit chaotic when I first got there (5:30/6pm on a weeknight), but I quickly found the hostesses and was directed to the bar. Pros: Great & attentive service Love the wine suggestions and ability to sample them - went with a wine I wouldn't have ordered just by looking at the menu Portion sizes are large Cons: $15 for a salad using mostly iceberg lettuce and maybe 1.5oz of chicken seems a bit high No Happy Hour specials?

The front of the restaurant is a wine bar/shop which is pretty neat. Here, they sell wine, accessories, and have free wine samples while you're waiting to be seated. We had a reservation for 730pm on a Friday and they seated us rather promptly. The service was good (nothing to rave about). We weren't looking to drink as much this Friday and I think our waiter got that hint rather quickly so although our waiter was nice, his priorities were obviously elsewhere. We all had a couple glasses of wine which were good and to me, this is more of a place where I'd have some wine...then go next door for dinner. Funny thing - I don't recommend the "Chef's Recommendations." The stuffed mushroom appetizer is something you can make at home - the flavors were less than exciting and therefore not worth it. I had the Chicken Giardiniera which was sour chicken with giardiniera dumped on top of it (both of these were chef's recommendations). The jambalaya wasn't bad, but there are definitely other places where this is going to be 100x better. Dana's Parmesan Crusted Chicken was very good. I think the problem is that this place has such a large menu because it's known for wine, therefore it's kind of like a Cheesecake Factory in that it is not known for any type of food/cuisine. On that note, I'd rather go to Cheesecake Factory and not be disappointed in my meal.

My new favorite restaurant! Upscale location at reasonable prices - it feels like high class dining but without all the pretentiousness. I took my mother here for her birthday and she's a tough cookie to please, and she loved it. The staff is great too. I'd recommend going out of your comfort zone - if you look at the menu and say "I've never had that", try it! It's a from scratch kitchen and everything they make is just good. I try to go once a month to sample the specials outside of the normal menu. The pretzel bread is great, they had a shrimp polenta dish that was outstanding, and try the short ribs... so tender. They don't do bad plates. Of course, don't forget the dessert. I love the banana ice cream sandwich, I'd skip the chocolate pretzel bread pudding and go more exotic (since you probably had pretzel bread before your meal).

We've been here many times and it's really good! The menu has so many options. My favorites include the caprase flatbread, Betty potatoes and the best of all is the apple pie. So many good wine options as well, I'm partial to the Malbec but there are so many sample options. I've always had good service from the waitstaff. My only negative would be the hostesses. They are a bit snobby and elitist for working in a restaurant that's attached to the mall.

Cooper's Hawk is a mildly-upscale chain restaurant that has a wine bar twist to it. The front of the restaurant is wine bar / wine shop where they sell wine, wine accessories and have wine tastings. I came in around dinner time on a weekday and the place was buzzing. The restaurant and bar was full as well. I guess the locals love this place. The menu is a cacophonous cornucopia catch-all of absolutely everything a restaurant could serve: a multitude of steaks, burgers, seafood, pasta, salads, etc. Also, each dish had too much going on with crusts and sauces and cheeses - it became dizzying. The portions are also huge. All of this made me panic, so I ordered a cheeseburger. The burger came with a mayo-based sauce, cheese, shredded lettuce, and shoestring fried onions. The fries that came with the burger were way over-seasoned, but they were cooked well and were crispy. One of my friends got the crab cakes for dinner thinking it would be a reasonably sized portion. Nope. A huge plate arrived with 3 hockey puck sized crab cakes and a large dish of gratin potatoes. The food was good, not great and I wish the portions weren't so big. It was just too much. Service was pretty good. We did not see our server very much, but seemed to be around to refill waters, clear plates, answer questions, etc.

I went here with my family to celebrate accepting my first job offer (yay!), so I was looking for something chic/upscale but still casual. My mum is very hard to please in terms of new restaurants, so I was hesitant to pick here. Of course, I based my decision off Yelp reviews, and I will say she loved it and wanted to come back (a rare occurrence). I had a reservation for 6:15 on a Friday and this place was crazy busy. I took this as a good sign! When you walk in, you have to meander through a wine gift shop area, which I thought was strange initially. (After dinner, we looked around for a bit and I decided this is actually VERY cool considering Cooper's Hawk makes their own wine. Also they sell bedazzled wine glasses, and I obviously had to buy one.) We were seated right away. The aura is very nice. I love dark lighting in restaurants, and this one was perfectly lit. Not too bright, not too dark. Very warm feeling with dark wood, dark walls, dark fixtures, etc. We sat a table in the middle. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He let us sample a few wines before buying a bottle. I got to choose, so I decided on the Cooper's Hawk House White. Very good and very easy to drink. Even my wine-hestitant younger brother drank it. We also tried the shiraz and the Cooper's Hawk House Red. The house red was good, too! Would recommend. For dinner, I had the fish and chips (because-- Friday!). It had 4 pieces of fish that looked like mozzarella sticks, fries, and a delicious slaw. Three dipping sauces, too: ketchup, sriracha mayo (yum!), and tartar sauce. I thought this meal was good and the fish was very fresh; however, it had a bit too much breading for me. You could tell everything was homemade, but the breading was just a little too thick. It was still very good! My mum had the salmon off the Life Balance menu, and my dad had the tuna off the Life Balance menu. Both of them really liked it. My brother had the Southwest Chicken Sandwich, which he liked. It also came with fries. Overall, a great experience! Our bill for four meals and a bottle of wine was $100, which I think is very reasonable. I would recommend this place for date night, family night, or a night with friends. Really, it's quite versatile. The dress code is also quite versatile. I felt comfortable in a sweater and jeans, yet there were many people also wearing much fancier clothes (i.e., my mother, who just came from work). I can't wait to come back with the boyfriend or the family again.

I will have to say the wine selection was amazing but the way the suggest wines on the menu was confusing. The numbers on the wine were not in any order and so you had to hunt to figure it out. Granted it was not too hard but still make it easy on a person. Also the waitress did not seem to know the different dishes and told me the sauce for the pasta I ordered was a white sauce. I asked her to double check and she said she knew it was. Well when it came out red she was embarrassed and I was so hungry I just ate it anyways. The amount of chicken in the pasta was also very small and just not sure I would try again, but I would go there for wine and meet up.

I went to Cooper's Hawk on a Wednesday night with some coworkers for dinner. This turned out to be my favorite restaurant in WI so far. Our waitress was GREAT! The food was delicious. Here's the deal -- You walk in, have a complimentary wine tasting of 3 wines of your choice. Or, you can pay to do a more formal wine tasting. Then you sit down to dinner - where you are encouraged to try the wine before you get a glass. They serve pretzel bread, which is delicious. We got the appetizer sampler, which is plenty big enough for 4 people to share and try one of each thing. I had the bacon wrapped scallops for dinner and they were great. They have a great patio, but we ended up sitting inside. We all left feeling happy and stuffed. It's a little loud, but not too overwhelming. I will absolutely be back.

Hawaiian Pork Sandwich- Duh! The best sandwich I have had there. It sounds kind of weird on the menu but the pineapple mixed with the most tender pork and snazzy sauce make for a pretty bangin' combo. Also making the list as awesome is the pretzel bread: brought to you warm and soft with a nice flavored butter spread complimentary as a starter. Appetizers are great and so is their lobster bisque. Don't really care for "Wine Membership" or Wine of the Month BS since I am always sampling restaurants or cool places to go. I don't think I am a big enough wine snob (I barely drink wine as it is) to think this a good deal. Besides, it would restrict your desire to go elsewhere and try new places out. Don't let that stop you though as this place has good food and an upscale atmosphere. Nights and dinnertime are dark and "moody" so it's a good place to bring a date or a special someone.

Amazing service every time. Food comes out great, but once in awhile I have gotten a dish that was a little cold. This time everything was great and Kerry p gave us great service. In fact we ate at the bar because we saw that she was working at the Bar and we enjoy her company. Thanks Kerry!!

My gluten-free (GF) friend suggested this restaurant for a light dinner. I had honestly never seen it before on the exterior perimeter of Brookfield Square. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday, and I had no idea what to expect. In order to get to the restaurant you have to walk through a gift shop and what looks like a wine sampling area. There were quite a few people in this entry way, and I personally think the whole premise of walking through a gift shop is pretty tacky. We were seated right away and my friend, who has been here several times, asked what the wine sample of the day was. We were informed there was no wine sample of the day. Boo. Our server, while nice, was pretty pushy with their exclusive wine club - $18.99/month for X many months for their wine, that you have to come pick up... the whole 5 minute attempted-sale occurred before we were even asked what we would like to drink. Again, kind of tacky, especially for what looks like a nice restaurant. And $18.99 per bottle is, honestly, not a very good deal - there are plenty of local wineries with amazing wines that are much more reasonable. Anyway, my friend had a late lunch so we were just going to split some food. For the record, Cooper Hawk's has the largest Gluten-Free menu I have ever seen in a restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised by their selection and presentation of the menu (not just a paper insert in a regular, gluten-laden menu). I ordered the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps appetizer and she ordered a flight of white wines. The waitress was clearly annoyed by our small ordered, and we assured her we would order more... this just felt odd because: 1) my friend told her she wasn't planning on eating dinner, only drinking and desert as it was her belated birthday celebration and that's what she wanted, and 2) we are easy-going paying customers and let's be realistic - you aren't going to get a $15+ tip from every table. The 4 wines came out, and my friend offered me a sip. The server immediately came over and asked if I was drinking. I said no, I was only taking a sip. And she carded me. Not that I have a problem being carded, or the wait staff following the rules and regulations, but it would have been classier to just check BOTH our ids prior to the wine coming out especially when she knew there were 4 glasses of wine on their way to the table. One of the wines was not even close to what my friend ordered; instead of the semi-dry Viognier, she was poured a Gewürztraminer, which is very sweet. Luckily I am a fan of sweet whites, and was already carded, so I took one for the team and drank this one. We each got a roll - a pretzel roll for me (it was DELICIOUS!) and a GF roll for my friend (who also really enjoyed it). The appetizer dish came out very quickly, and it was actually a very large order. More than enough for my dinner and my friend to also snack on. The spread was more like a cilantro lime salsa, rather than the Cashew Sauce that is stated in the menu. It was a very "Americanized" version of what I assumed was a Thai dish. We then placed an order for the "Wine and Chocolates" dessert sans wine. It says right in the menu (which I am copying from their website): A Match Made in Heaven! Dark and White Chocolate-Covered Strawberries and Truffles from Our Bakery Paired with a Flight of 3 Sweet Wines. What arrived to the table was a plate with 3 truffles (dark, milk, and white chocolate) and 1 strawberry. The waitress said that it normally doesn't come with a strawberry but she thought it did so she kindly asked them to put a strawberry on for us (probably in hope of getting a larger tip from us). I am a very good reader and it does say "Dark and White Chocolate-Covered Strawberries" right on the menu AND their website. The chocolates were AMAZING. The dark chocolate truffle was just to die for, and I wish I could have one every day for the rest of my life. It *almost* made up for the slightly rude attitude of our waitress. The flight of wine + appetizer + dessert + tip was nearly $45. The manager came out to talk to us and see how we enjoyed our dining experience; I didn't think it was worth complaining about the awkwardness I felt from the waitress. Bottom line: the food was very good, and I was surprised by the quantity and quality of the appetizer and the quality of the chocolates. Also, very good for those who are GF. There's definitley potential here for this resturant... After observation, my friend and I were among the youngest at this establishment. There was not a single child in sight, or anyone under the age of 24 for that matter. The whole vibe comes off as "hoity-toity." But this is a good place for wine snobs, American-food connoisseurs, and people with a lot of money to spend on dinner. Maybe if I had a job that pays at least 40K/year I wouldn't mind going to dinner here once in a while. But until that day comes, I won't be returning unless someone else is buying!

Great service and phenomenal food. They have tons of options to cure any craving you're having and they have a huge selection of wine. Each food item has numbers next to it to signify a red wine and a white wine that pairs well with that particular food. And they have mix and match options. For example, I got a salad and flatbread combo. If you're nice to your waitress/waiter, they will let you get a fancier salad with the combination (instead of just the basic salads listed as combo options). It worked for me!

Very good from start to finish. Loved walking into a wine tasting room and asked if we wanted to taste white or red wine. Seated immediately at our table. Service was excellent and the menu was reasonably priced. Loved the wine Decantur on the table (not sure what it's called). Had a wonderful graduation celebration. Everyone loved their meals from salmon to pasta to salads. All yummy. Highly recommend it! Will definitely go back! Oh and great atmosphere.

I'm very familiar with Coopers and usually visit 2 of their locations, to which I have been multiple times. Brookfield always tends to disappoint with service. I always sit in the bar area due to being there during lunch time, only once out of ten times on average was the service great. Today, on top of the bad service - I had hair in my salad mixed in with stale chicken. Granted it was taken off the bill, the server didn't seem to give a care or suggest a different meal. The Arlington Heights location always has outstanding service, however here I always sit in the main dining room, as I go here for dinner. Never had issues with food or service. So maybe the overall service in the bar is not consistent with the one in the main dining.

Five wine samples for only seven dollars. Yes, please! That is before you even enter the restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant, but surprisingly the prices were reasonable. The sangria was delectable, and my gosh, the food was something that you can hardly find anywhere these days. Absolutely delicious. Words cannot even begin to explain how much I love this place. If you are a true wineo and are not into spending hundreds of dollars on wine and also want amazing food accompanied with it, please go here.

YUM! The wine is absolutely amazing! They give you samples of everything and have pairing suggestions for all of their food! For dinner I had the soy ginger salmon with wasabi mash potatoes - AMAZING! I love salmon, but I ordered the dish for the wasabi mash potatoes and they did not disappoint! We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Milwaukee!

Best restaurant I have been at in a long, long, time!! Everything was excellent! I'm not even a wine lover and I enjoyed tasting a few. Had the mushroom appetizer even though someone reviewed them as something you could make at home and not anything special, my husband and I thought they were awesome. We both had a different pasta dish, and both were outstanding. The warm pretzel bread hit the spot and we enjoyed that also. I can't say enough good about this place. I don't live close at all, but I will make the trip again and soon. This place is a must to try......

Descriptive word: favorite. This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I know it's a semi-chain, but take my word for it: GO and enjoy. Cooper's Hawk is located in a relatively new restaurant add-on to Brookfield Square Mall. There were a number of other restaurants in this exact location that tried and failed. Cooper's Hawk is thriving in their ashes. The entrance is half gift shop, half wine-tasting bar. The gift shop is not distracting, though, and doesn't take away from the classier wine area. Without fail there are servers walking around with wine samples, and you can try whatever you want while here. Hidden in the front is both a bar area with TVs and an outdoor seating area. I can't speak to their liquor selection, but the outdoor area is great for people watching near the mall. The main dining area is dark but not musty; rather, intimate. The servers are knowledgeable but not pushy. I almost always start with sampling their wine of the month, plus whatever else the server recommends that day. This past time I went with the Cooper's Hawk White, and ended up leaving with a bottle as well. I will readily admit that I am not a wine drinker, but I have yet to find something here I didn't enjoy. Word of advice: get the Tortilla Soup. It's the best I've ever had and I get it every time. The cup ($4.49) is large enough for an appetizer, and the bowl ($5.49) can be a meal with bread. The Chicken Potstickers ($8.99) are a great appetizer choice as well. I have gotten a different entree every time I've come here and have yet to be disappointed. I can personally recommend the Gnocchi Carbonara ($15.99) [giant serving, creamy and filling], the Sea Scallops ($25.99) [jumbo scallops, perfectly seared with asparagus and rice], and the Maple, Mustard & Pretzel-Crusted Pork Medallions ($19.99) [an interesting blend of flavors that mixes well with the pork]. Every table is brought fresh, warm pretzel bread after ordering as well. Honestly, I can't say enough about this place. It's a big-city, downtown classy feel out in the suburbs for a reasonable price. You'll see me here every time I'm in town.

We really like this place. I had the steak medallions and loved them. We also tried the wine of the month club but gave it up because it was too difficult to get there once a month to pick up our wine. I would recommend going there for sure!

Awesome place to go and eat GREAT food, paired with wine. Consider joining their wine club if you haven't already. The wine club dinners are worth every penny; you get to meet new, fun people, learn about the wine and food (and there is a ton of both) and laugh until your face hurts. The atmosphere is great - they have an outside patio to enjoy the warmer days as well as a nice bar. You can tell management really runs this operation well with great care focused on customer experience (not just satisfaction). We have never had a bad time there yet - and I don't expect to either.

I typically try to forego chain restaurants for local but stopped here on the recommendation of a friend. I was hesitant at first by the "cracker barrel" feel of the front lobby/gift shop, but was offered a wine sample by someone walking around which quickly changed my attitude! I have been here multiple times since and have had great experiences each time. The service has always been outstanding, the serving sizes are perfect, and with the variety of things I've tried the food has always been delicious. As previous reviewers have said, the only draw back is the "sell" of the wine club, but it's quite easy to say no. You can get amazing wines at way better prices elsewhere - so having to drive there each month just to pick up your overpriced wines doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Doing a wine tasting at the lobby though is great for a ladies night. Unsure of what wine to get and they'll let you try a few at your table. The only downside is they bring you one at a time to taste - and one time we didn't like any we were trying so the waiter had to go back and forth about 5 times before we found something that we enjoyed which took a while. However worth it to get something we like! A quick rundown of my recommendations: The pretzel bread (included with your meal but if you ask for more you get a small charge...worth it!) Sooooo good. I recommend dipping it into Crab and Lobster bisque. Which is decent in itself (not the best i've had), but awesome with the bread. Ahi Tuna Tacos - the ahi was excellent, was a little surprised at the tiny size of the tacos, but the overall flavor was good. I had it as an entree and it filled me up! Gnocchi Carbonara - super flavorful cream sauce and the gnocchi were cooked perfectly. I could get this every single time and be happy. Chicken Linguine Reggiano - a tablemate of mine asked to substitute the linguine for gnocchi which they were happy to do for her. Was almost as good as the carbonara. Short rib risotto - melt in your mouth short ribs and perfectly cooked risotto. Tenderloin Sandwich - a tablemate had this and added a truffle mayo. Had it cooked medium rare and said it was cooked perfectly and she'd get it again. Banana caramel ice cream sandwich - I would recommend eating dessert first because you should never be too full to try this. Warm banana bread with buttered bum caramel sauce, sliced bananas, and vanilla bean ice cream. perfection. The only thing I've had that didn't wow me was the Chicken al Pastor stuffed mushrooms. There were too many competing flavors that ultimately melded into just the taste of saltiness.

Great place. They were a few minutes late seating us from our reservation time which we didn't mind at all because we wanted to look around the place and they ended up giving us a free bottle of wine with dinner because of the delay! The food was awesome. Ahi Tuna tacos were great as everyone else had posted. Short Rib Risotto was awesome as well. I'd like to give a review on my meal (surf and turf) which was drunken shrimp and parm crusted petite filets but my wife ate all my shrimp (looked good though!). The filets were really good. Highly recommend!

I stopped in this afternoon with a friend of mine. A co-worker had gotten her a 3 month wine club membership, where she received a bottle of the "wine of the month" each month. When we walked in there was no one behind the counter but there was a tray full of "samples" of the wine of the month, but we didn't want to take one without knowing what it was. A lady finally came out and my friend gave her the card and told us we could sample the wine on the tray, which was a New York Riesling (the wine of the month). It was REALLY good! I asked her some questions about the place because I hadn't been in there since it was Claim Jumper's. She told me about it VERY briefly, and seemed more concerned about whether or not my friend wanted to extend her membership in the wine club. Although I was a little annoyed, I asked how much the wine was because it was quite delicious. She answered, "Well, it's $18.99 but you can only buy it if you're in our wine club.". Are you kidding me? So, in order to buy a $19 bottle of wine, I have to spend money every month to be in your wine club? Why wouldn't you just make it available to everyone? We were both pretty put off by this, but it bothered me so much that I don't think I'll ever go back in. I'm sure I can find another riesling that I like just as much, that doesn't come with so much pretentiousness.

went to see what all the hype was about. The place was packed. Mostly the under 35 crowd. Lots of babies in carriers heading into the dinning room. You could tell they thought this was a really hip place. Hello!!! Its Brrokfiled Square. On the plus, side the food was good. The salmon was cooked perfect as was the skirt steak. The potstickers and Drunken shrimp appetizers were generous. As for what everyone comes for.... the wine....Meh. Overpriced cheap wine. They really push the wine club. My guess is that its a suburban fad that will run its course

Love this place. Wine and cheese pairing is a bargain compared to flight of wines. Everything I've had here had been ver enjoyable. Repeat customer of lobster bisque!!!

I love the pretzel bread that they give you to start with. Yes, I know wine is their specialty, but their dirty martini is one of the best I've had. Tonight I had their maple, mustard and pretzel crusted pork medallions. The flavor combination was good but the pork was slightly overcooked and the crust was a bit too thick. Their crab cake appetizer was very good. Overall an enjoyable meal, I'll most likely be back.

"Food was great. However the "sausage white bean soup had NO sausage. Don't get me wrong, it was a yummy vegetarian soup. Just not correct."

DID YOU KNOW HUMMINGBIRDS BUILD THEIR NESTS CLOSE TO COOPER'S HAWKS' NESTS? The little birds do this because the hawks are unable to catch them and the hawks are predators of most hummingbird predators. Thanks Sunday night PBS! Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Brookfield is one of seven in the Midwest. TACKY: Walking through the Gift Store on your way to the hostess is tacky. Let me browse the "Wine Diva" trivets for a minute, NOT. This is what you'd expect from Cracker Barrel or The Machine Shed, not a restaurant billing itself as "A Unique Concept". ORDERED: Crab Cakes (Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes Served with Our Mustard Sauce, Betty's Potatoes, and Fresh Sautéed Garlic, Spinach) - $21.99 and a cup of Crab and Lobster Bisque - $5.99 TASTED: The crab entree arrived with three large cakes atop wilted spinach. They were better than any crab cakes I've had in the Midwest. Betty's Potatoes are a shredded hashbrown casserole in (rather tame) melted sharp cheddar. I would recommend the crab cakes. The bisque was creamy and flavorful used for dipping the appetizer pretzel bread into. Loaded with seafood? Not really and for $5.99 a bit pricey. SERVICE: Our waiter was on top of his game and knew the menu well. CAVEAT: I'm not an alcohol drinker so take this into consideration that above review is for food only. The presentation of the wine was gorgeous from what I witnessed.

I had my first visit to Cooper's Hawk Winery on Saturday. Normally I wouldn't spend the time to review a chain, but this place had an interesting concept and I was very pleased with my visit. I started with a self-guided tour of the gift shop and wine tasting room. You get to sample three wines before committing to one. LOVE THAT! I went with the Barbera (a red), which I haven't had before. It was a great balance of bold and sweet. The wine is not made on site, but they have many to choose from and all under the Cooper's Hawk brand. The wine is made in Illinois for this particular location. Also, for each item on the menu, they list a recommended wine bin number to accompany it. Dinner started with a bowl of Crab & Lobster Bisque. I love a seaood bisque that actually has seafood in it and not just a puree with "seafood flavor." There were lots of bits and chunks of crab, lobster and shrimp. Great start! Lots of great choices for entrees, but the one that stood out to me in terms of creativity was the Maple, Mustard, and Pretzel Crusted Pork Tenderloin Medalions, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus spears. The meat was tender and I could taste the maple and the mustard. I was very happy with my choice! For dessert, my friend and I split the Banana Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich (I'll post the photo on Twitter)....House Made Banana Bread Served Warm with Buttered Rum Caramel Sauce, Fresh Sliced Bananas, and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. It was delicious! Prices were fair. Most entrees under $20 and most apps under $10. Glasses of wine averaged $8. Only the slow and somewhat inattentive service prevents 5 stars overall. I might give 4.5 stars. We had to ask for water twice before we received it and it was 10 minutes before our server arrived to greet us. I do plan to visit Cooper's Hawk again to try more of the menu.

This was our first time dining here, once we were seated the experience was perfect! My wife and I had reservations at 9:30. We were greeted well, but the table was not ready yet. We understand, it was News Year Eve. However, the text never came so we approached the hostess, they apologized and seated us right away. From here the dining experience was perfect our server Sara walked us through their wine selections, and provided us a flight sample. We chose the Sweet Red, soft sweet and perfect for our likings. We ordered the Asian Lettuce Wraps, excellent presentation. Proceeded to entrees Short Ribs Risotto and Chicken Saltimbocca, once again delighted with presentation and timing was perfect. Desserts were Banana Sandwich and Bread Pudding, we will definitely be back for the Banana Sandwich. Our dining experience was completed by a visit from the Manager. He showed gratitude for choosing Cooper's Hawk and gave us a free wine glass choice on our next visit, along with a free desert for our next visit. We will be back, great dining experience!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the gift shop area right when you walk in. If you are looking for any type of novelty or functional gift for the wine lover in your life, go here. They have items all year round. This place is great for a sit down meal or just meeting up with people for drinks and appetizers. The lounge area is off to your left with bar stools and bar tables that fit four people. While you wait, you can check out the wine tasting area. It is really busy during the dinner service on the weekends, so be patient. The servers in the tasting area are friendly and knowledgeable. The selection of food is great for lunch or dinner! You will get warm pretzel bread to start. The servers are friendly and they don't disappear on you while you eat. Even if you're not a wine person, stop by for the food.

Went there twice. Once with a friend who is member of their wine club. We ordered a couple of appetizers and got to try 4 wines. (One was a mistake in the order but they said we should enjoy it anyway. We did!) The decor is pleasant and i love their gift shop. So many cute ideas. The next time was with a group for a birthday. We had the lettuce wraps which were delicious. Some had salad which was so big they took some home. i had steak sandwich which was very good. It was perfectly cooked and very tender. In addition, the roll was tasty and not the cardboard variety. I had a raspberry sangria which was beautiful (multi colored) and soooooo good. Probably the best i have had.Server was attentive altho she missed a few things, like bringing all of us a glass of water. Then she made up for it by bringing a birthday treat to the table. Presentation was perfect and taste was well worth the calories. In addition, we ordered a dessert. I forget the name but some kind of tart with caramel and banana. The crust was pecans, i think. OMG it was so good that i took a tiny piece home because it would have been sinful to waste it. Next day i was so glad it did that. Even though they were busy, we were never rushed along and had a great afternoon.

Came here because we had a gift card. The only entrees on the menu that we could afford were the sandwiches and burgers. It would have been nice to get a little more variety for that price range... anyway, I had the turkey and brie sandwich which was actually quite excellent! Their fries are pretty good as well. My dining partner got the ranch chicken sandwich, which he liked but had trouble fitting into his mouth. We shared a house salad for starters, which was good. It was a salad, hard to mess that up! For wines, I sampled the peach and raspberry sparkling wines and had a full glass of the raspberry. There were a lot of other choices that looked really great - it would be nice to go back for more wine and dessert sometime. The pretzel bread that they give you to start out is awesome! The atmosphere is nice, and I liked that the service wasn't rushed, but was still pretty attentive.

As always. super skeptical about chain(ish) restaurants. My parents had joined their wine club and I happened to be free the night they went to pick up the wine. I dont 100% know the whole deal with the wine club but the gist of it is that you sign up for a one or two bottle a month club and there is a featured wine. Seems like they are pretty cool about letting you try wines before you get them so you know you are getting something that you like. Also something about being able to trade in or switch wine if you dont like that month's flavor.. possible for a fee, possibly complimentary.. anyway, they have a cute gift shop where you can mull around before being seated. Great dessert tray too. We ended up having dinner. I love free dinners, so, THANKS MOM N DAD! I was PLEASANTLY suprised that they were indeed prepared for me and had a gluten free menu that the waiter was able to retrieve. What I found refreshing about this GF menu was that it wasnt the standard, you can get this sandwich on lettuce, or other options that really take away from the dish. I got "Chicken Madeira" which had chicken in a wine sauce and mushrooms. The server was really knowledgable about the food as well as the wine which is refreshing. The food was just plain great. To temp, seasoned well, I honestly have no complaints. If Im in a mood for a chain I will definitely make this one that I frequent. And maybe when I am back to drinking wine I will join their wine club!

Great service from server, Kerry. Place was really noisy from the sound of dishes on the kitchen...makes what could be a classy place to eat sound like a cafeteria. Cowboy steak was very tough, grisly and very fatty. Sent it back twice and got the filet mignon which was outstanding! We tasted the wine samples, but had to share the three glasses with three different wines in them, which barely had a sip apiece in them; thought that was rather tacky. Was never offered the dessert menu. Probably wont go back.

Came in for drinks and apps after work. I did not have my hopes up, figured it'd be overpriced and underwhelming. I was pleasantly surprised with their service in the bar area. We split a couple apps and I had their Crab and Lobster Soup. The soup was very good and I'm actually looking forward to going back and ordering it again. It was plenty of food and didn't break the bank. We sampled a few wines and had a glass. Overall, it was very relaxing. I cannot speak for the restaurant proper, but the bar is worth a trip.

I was recently given a wine-of-the-month club membership, and we went for dinner last night. It was another good meal. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and the appetizer chop-salad. The mushroom was decent. The salad was very good, and large enough to split. For our meal, I add had the Hawaiian Pork Sandwich and fries. My wife had the trio of medallions. My sandwich was very good. The fries are average, but I know I should have gone for the slaw. The steaks were cooked very well, and it was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My the end, we were so full, we could not even think of dessert. Everyone that helped is, from the wine-tasting to our server, was friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely plan to go back!

My husband and I are from out of town and staying at close by Hotel. Went to the Brookfiield Mall and stumbled upon Cooper's Hawk Winery&Restaurant. 5stars all the way. It was 8:00 pm, had to wait a bit, but it was a Friday night after all. Our Server Kerry was gracious and kind, helping us pick dishes off the menu. Amazing food, the absolute best the Banana bread ice cream sandwich. Highly recommend for dessert. If we are ever in Brookfield again, Cooper's Hawk will be the first place we eat at. Janele

De-e-e-licious! First time here and the was amazing. I went as part of a small group and everyone was raving about their dish at the end of the night. To start, we had a appetizer of Caprese Flatbread which sent my taste buds for a ride. For my main I had the pistacio-crusted grouper, that was flavored and cooked to perfection. The menu including wine pairings to compliment each dish and i found the pairing to be quite accurate, only making my meal that much more satisfying. For dessert, 4 forks and a slice of Key Lime pie...my favorite! Although the dinner service wasn't that smashing, there is a lot to be said about how the service and your opinion of the establishment can be redeemed after a few small kind gestures. After waiting what seemed to be an extremely long time for our food, the server came to us to inform us that he had forgotten to put our order in. For his error, he offered each of the 4 of us a drink on the house if we so chose. The food-amazing, the service-good, the atmosphere-warm and enjoyable. Will definitely be back!

We took our aunt here at her suggestion. It's a very large but well-run restaurant with several options for people who want something besides steak. If you're a wine drinker, they have their own winery and even allow you to sample their wines while you are waiting for a table. The service was good and our server (Lamour) was very attentive and timely. I had the filet (9 oz for ~$30) with a Parmesan crust and sides of broccoli and Betty potatoes. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered and the sides were very tasty. I would eat here again, even though I prefer smaller, less corporate places.

Finally visited Cooper's Hawk, and so happy to find a restaurant (especially in the suburb area) that is top notch with food and service. So many restaurants appear to be lacking on these two fronts lately. Enter Cooper's Hawk. We were greeted with a glass of malbec. The wait was one hour. I enjoyed tasting a few more wines, and browsing the gift store. Cooper's Hawk is a great place for a ladies conversation night out, as the gift store is mainly targeted to women. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The server was helpful and non intrusive. We could leisurely enjoy dinner, and conversation without the feeling of being rushed or interrupted. When we were ready to order, the server always seemed to be aware. Water glasses were consistently full. It appears the tables were placed, so that you c I've heard that the restaurant was founded by someone who felt that the experience of food at restaurants was lacking. I would say Cooper's Hawk definitely answers tasting and being aware of taste. All meals show a recommended paired wine. Since Cooper's Hawk produces all of their own wine, you don't have to worry about accidentally purchasing a $15 glass of wine. Mine was $6.75. I ordered the soup of crab and lobster bisque, and 1/2 sandwich of turkey brie. The soup was delightful with nice chunks of seafood, and flavorful without tons of added salt. Very pleasant on the palate. The turkey brie sandwich was at first mediocre, until tasted with the recommended wine. The matched wine opened up the bouquet of the sandwich, with heightened awareness of the apples. A friend was not overwhelmed with the short rib risotto, though she did not have the wine pairing...really think the pairing is key at Cooper's Hawk. We finished with the banana bread/run caramel/ice cream dessert. Delicious with a mouth watering caramelized crunch. This dessert is definitely worthy of a battle with spoons, so I highly recommend, "get your own."

One of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner. Wine tasting is always fun and we belong to the monthly club which we enjoy. Dining here is always excellent...service and food! Salads, Asian slaw, salmon, turkey burgers and pretzel bread...alll amazing. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

My husband and I have been here twice now and have been happy both times. First experience was the week of Christmas. The place was packed! We made a reservation and thank goodness we did. There were a ton of people waiting for tables. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time which for as busy as it was I was happy. We treated ourselves to appetizer, entrees, and dessert which were all very good. Food was cooked to perfection, tasted great, and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Because of how busy it was, our meal took a little longer than I originally anticipated, but it wasn't slow by any means. We then took my in-laws back for another meal shortly after this. We had a late afternoon meal and the environment was much quieter. The food was once again one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time. We ended up with the same server, and will be requesting her every time we go there from now on. This place is definitely great for meeting friends after work for a glass of wine or for dinner with family. The food is extremely tasty, and I can't get enough of the pretzel bread they start you with. SO good! Food is prepared meticulously and staff is very courteous. I love that you can try a glass of wine before you order an entire glass. It made me a little more adventurous in my wine selection. We'll definitely be back and asking for Paula in the near future! Glad to have this place around. The only bad thing I can think of is the parking situation. It's right in the middle of the mall area and unfortunately, there's not a ton of spaces. Be prepared to search around for a spot or to park and walk.

First time here and I was pleasantly surprised. The swordfish was cooked to perfection and the flight of wine was a nice addition. If I had to find a negative, it would be the waiter interrupting our meal to give a brochure for their wine of the month club. I will definitely revisit.

The entrance is set up like a store. They have all sorts of wine accessories and a case of chocolate covered goodies you can purchase to go. Slightly spotty service but i'll overlook that because its been less then a week since they've opened. I tried the Viognier and Rose. The Viognier had a very crisp start but kind of a rough finish. The Rose was pretty good and light which fit the mood that I was in. Next time I need to try the barrel reserve. Started off with the Thai Chicken flatbread. It was pretty good, the sauce was unique and the chicken was very tender. I ordered the steak salad cooked medium. The steak came out cooked more on the medium rare side and was not warm at all. Besides the steak the salad itself was very good and well seasoned and fresh. I sampled the scallop dish and the Chicken linguini. Both dishes were excellent. The scallops were cooked and flavored perfectly and the pasta was tossed with fresh vegetables and tender chicken. I would order both dishes again. Overall its a good addition to Brookfield's tired list of dining options.

We started off with the wine tasting and had a great time trying to find ourselves in wine. The service along with the tasting was great and she helped my boyfriend find what he would like even though it wasn't on the menu. Off to a great start! We then were seated at a booth and further ordered a glass of wine each. He had the Shiraz ( his new found taste) and I had the reserve which was very good. We started off with the caprese flatbread and we devoured it, so good! All entrees come with pretzel bread & butter which was a nice surprise. He had the chicken Liguinie and I had the chicken Madiera, both were very good. I couldn't finish mine, but I did finish Marys Potatoes! I did notice it was pretty dead while we dined, but we did sit at 9pm (no wait then). The server said it was normal when questioned about it. we are from Chicago, so we are more use to people out and eating late). Overrrall, we had a great experience and we will definetley be back to Coopers Hawk and hopefully this location also!

Went here to catch up with old friends and could not have stumbled on a better spot. It was busy but we were seated right away. The place has a great atmosphere with the servers recommending wines and providing samples before you buy anything. It really allows you time to talk and relax as there is no rush. The wines were great and I got a flight of reds to try with my filet. The food was perfect and they steak was cooked to a perfect medium as requested. After the meal, we had dessert. I asked for a port and they offered a sample (which was great) along with the dessert. I would really recommend this place to anyone and it was a great getaway during my visit back to Wisconsin.

This is one of those times I wish I could give it a 3 and 1/2. We tried the flatbread appetizer and it was very good and we ordered a couple sandwich options for our dinner. They were also very good but nothing that will blow you away. The pretzel bread they give out is also delicious. We ended up ordering a raspberry sangria pitcher. We totally didn't get what we ordered but it was still really good. The menu stated the raspberry sangria had raspberries (duh) in it along with other fruits. Ours came with apples, oranges, lemons and limes in it and it didn't taste like raspberries. We asked the waiter what kind it was and he insisted it was the raspberry sangria. It was still very tasty though so we couldn't complain. I think this place will easily have a 4 star rating from me next visit as I think they still had some kinks to work out. The dining room is also quite noisy. I really liked the wine store out front and it looks like they frequently have wine tastings in a room specifically built for that. I'm interested in seeing how this place develops and I'll be back for sure.

I went here for the first time this past weekend and was very pleased. This place has a great atmosphere, the food and wine are delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Upon walking in, you are in the cute gift shop which carries all sorts of wine and accessories. You can go for just a wine tasting which is in the gift shop area. The restaurant is equally nice with delicious menu offerings. I would definitely go back again with friends-it'd be a great place to get together for lunch or dinner after a little holiday shopping

I made a reservation for lunch to celebrate my mother's birthday on a Sunday late in January. When we arrived around noon there were very few customers in the dining room. Since the table we were escorted to was in the middle of the traffic pattern we asked for another table that would seat us more comfortably. We were prompted moved to another table but the service went downhill from there. We had to continue to flag down wait staff for water, bread and to place our order. After our order was placed we never saw our waitress again until the dishes were being cleared. I was really irritated because I wanted my mother to have a nice time and we had such long long intervals that it was just annoying. I almost felt like our table was singled out because other tables appeared to be getting service and some guest seated after us were already leaving! Aside from this the meal was ok....nothing spectacular except for the bread which we had to ask for. I almost felt like they were rationing it. I have been to other Coopers locations before and the food has always been delicious and the staff welcoming. It seemed like the restaurant was really off at this location.

I have never been a big wine drinker but they have converted me. The food is very good, the wine is great and the selection can not be beat. It is a bit higher priced than some places but is by no means the most expensive place. It is great to go out on a date but also nice to go and relax. It even has a gluten free menu for those with allergies. Be sure to check out their wine club and have a wine tasting!

This was my third time at Cooper's Hawk. We were with a group of 6. The service was great. I had the red wine mustard short ribs which were actually too salty for my liking. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. Service is always attentive. We found ourselves shouting much of the dinner as the acoustics of the restaurant seem to be rather poor. I will go back but I don't think I'll order the short ribs again. Too many great items on the menu to try that again.

I've been to Cooper's Hawk twice and both times was simply divine. The staff was friendly, the wine was awesome and the food was great. I learned about the restaurant at a wine tasting in Bay View about four months ago. The staff at the tasting were very patient with answering our questions...so we became a one-bottle wine member. After, visiting the restaurant twice we decided to become two-bottle wine members. I am a massage therapist/business owner in Wauwatosa and I always recommend Cooper's Hawk to my clients looking for somewhere nice to have dinner in the area.

Food is about the level of Carabas or a dressed up Chilis, with the prices of a decent steak house. Wine selection is vast, but pasta entree had over powering seasoning, and ahi tuna entree was bland. Short rib risotto was good. Ceasar salad dressing was just ok and it had little parmesan. Cilantro rice was excellent, but it's rice. Pretzel roll for the table was good, but it is odd that it was so small for a table of 4. Server was friendly but inattentive. I may return for happy hour or a ($12) burger, but would never suggest going for ala carte entrees. I expect much more for $55 a person - service, quality and value were not there.

Fruit flies everywhere. Food was overpriced and portions too small. My wife and I both got a half sandwich and salad with a side of fruit. The fruit was over ripe and some if the berries were actually moldy. We pointed this out to our server when she asked how our meal was, she was apologetic but made no attempt to correct it. The wine was ok, but we will not be eating here again.

Took my wife to Cooper's Hawk for her birthday on October 29. We have been to wine tasting rooms in Napa, Sonoma, Washington, and Oregon so we are accustomed to a certain level of knowledge, quality and experience. We had a coupon for a free wine tasting so we decided to try it--we even upgraded to their "Luxe" flight of wines for an additional $5 each that included a tasting of 8 wines. We were very disappointed; the majority tasted very watered down and cheap. The person pouring wasn't very knowledgeable about the wine itself or wines in general (at one point another customer asked for a Pinot Grigio and was told they didn't have any. He then offered the client a sample of Pinot Gris--which is exactly the same thing as it is the American name vs. Italian!). Of the 8 we tasted the best was probably "The Collection" ( a blend of three different sources of Cabernet), however it was not available on the restaurant menu or by the bottle--it was a wine club exclusive. The food at Cooper's Hawk, fortunately, was much better than the wine. The wife and I both started with the Chopped Wedge Salad which was excellent. It was served with a blue cheese dressing and a wine vinagrette that was killer (too bad you couldn't buy it by the bottle in the tasting room!). The wife ordered Eggplant Ravioli and I had the Beef Medallion Trio (Horseradish, Blue Cheese and Parmesan crusted) with roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both entrees were very good. We were both too full for dessert. The service still has some kinks to be worked out. A gentleman at the table next to us received the wrong order; his dining companions had nearly finished their dinner before his replacement was finally brought out. Our server was also a bit slow to notice we needed drink refills (we stuck to water and iced tea after our experience in the wine tasting room). In short, go for the food and set your expectations for the wine. This is a great concept for a restaurant--if the wine had been better we would have rated higher.

I think this restaurant has more than 3 star potential. That being said, I will get my complaints out of the way first and end on the high notes :) I ordered the blackened ahi tuna for my entree. On the menu it specifies it will be cooked rare- even though I have ample love for tuna steak, I just can't enjoy anything rare (it never ends up being warm and I the texture rubbery), so I ordered mine medium rare. It was definitely rare when it came. My dining companion ordered breaded shrimp which had some kind of strange stringy coat around it...while I'm sure it makes it crispy, it did not look appetizing. She must have liked the actual shrimp since she ate them all--but only after picking off all the "breading." Good things: the atmosphere when you first walk in is very cute, with everything from trinkets to sauces to wine available for purchase. We were immediately offered free samples of wine. My passion sangria was yummy as was the Asian slaw & cilantro rice that I got as a side for my tuna. Their menu has a lot of different offerings & I would definitely go back to try something else! As for service, I realize some people are nit-picky. Myself, I do not like being rushed out & I really think this restaurant is trying to be a leisurely place where you can go to have some tapas and try a few types of wine off their ample list. And what better way to loosen up all those Brookfield business folk than with an extensive alcoholic drink list ;)

I signed up for the wine club on my first visit. It is nice to be able have an option to have a bottle of wine with dinner or pick it up from the store and bring home. The wine's were EXCELLENT! I enjoyed being able to sample a few different wine's while we waited as well. Everyone was very friendly and the food was awesome as well. Service was a little slow, but I'm going to chalk that up to being the 4th day they were opened. I ordered the sampler plate with a steak medallion, pork medallion, and lamb chop. Not sure which was my favorite since they were all incredible. I definately plan on going back at least once a month for my wine. Everyone should try this place.

In the area for business and stopped in for dinner. I ordered the beef medallions accompanied with cauliflower and asparagus. The veggies were bland, but they usually are unless you're at a fine restaurant. The beef which was ordered medium rare was borderline medium, but again, not a huge deal. The problem with my meal was it tasted like charred meat. In fact, three hours later as I write this, all I taste is the char of the meat. It was disgusting. The portion was small and I only had a few bites. The waiter came over to see how I was doing, I hate the idea of complaining about food in a restaurant, but I told him I could not eat this. He offered to make another which I didn't want, or take it off the bill. We decided I'd ordered something else so I got the caprese panini. I was surprised at how small this was but considering the size of the medallions I guess it's par for the course. The sandwich was at least edible but it too was not tasty. The mozzarella was clearly not fresh and the fruit cup that came with was old. I'm giving two stars because the waiter tried to make things right, but the food was not good. I would tell anyone to avoid this place despite the nice building.
