I'm not trying to be rude but I really don't understand how this place has 4 stars. I just went here, recently, for my mother and grandfather's birthdays and there is little here that I found compelling or even appetizing. Not only is the decor about 40-years dated (the tables and chairs even seemed to be for outdoor use? At least the cushions were.), the food was also really abysmal. It's expensive and yet it tastes like they cooked it in a microwave. I ordered a pasta dish with seafood and vegetables and everything was just terribly overcooked: rubbery seafood and mushy veggies. Also, when they bring you bread, they give you rolls and then several big cinnamon rolls. What? How odd is that, to give you cinnamon rolls before your dinner? I didn't eat one - so maybe they're fantastic cinnamon rolls, though I kind of doubt it - but why before a meal, like steak or seafood? My grandparents and aunt love it, but only because they take them home and eat them for breakfast the next day. So it just seems like The Butterfly Club is not only missing the mark with this gesture, they're really just throwing money away on an item that people only eat the day after. The impression I got from this experience is that their clientele are likely old people who've been going there since the decor was in style. People who are set in their ways and like the place because it's comfortable. Otherwise, I can't see why anyone willingly give their money to The Butterfly Club.

Well since we're trying to hit all the supper clubs in Wisconsin We stopped on a Friday night here at the Butterfly. A step back in time. So we started at the bar pretty busy sat down and had An Old Fashioned sweet . It was quite good . I'm a fan it did rank in my top ten . The Bar was lively and it seemed like everyone knew everyone else. One thing I love about supper clubs in general is when you arrive they take your name and ask how long you would like to sit at the bar for a cocktail. That's quite awesome! We sit about 25 minutes later just as we asked. For Dinner, salad blue cheese, fish fry cod and fries Jim had the 10oz filet which he ordered med well I of course chimed in and said go medium Steak comes out a its med rare had to go back to kitchen. My bad ;( Fish fry was pretty good nice big pieces of cod decent batter home made Cole slaw but bottled Tatar sauce ? Everything was very good I'm glad had we stopped and can def recommend this place

This is your typical WI supper club, old decor and all. I went here on several occasions and have liked the atmosphere, even though it's straight out of a 70's movie. The food is hit or miss. Some nights you'll go and it will be delicious, other nights it's not that great. The ice cream drinks are always consistent, but it's kind of hard to mess up ice cream and alcohol. They occasionally have a live band in the bar area that plays older music and people will dance to it.

The Butterfly Club, easy access from I90/ I43 - Hwy X - a Wisconsin tradition since 1924. We found Mike and Hektor Sala's - The Butterfly Club in Ron Faiola's book - Wisconsin Supper Clubs - An Old Fashioned Experience. From the minute you arrive, you know you are experiencing years of Wisconsin dining tradition - coat check room, hostess station, expansive lounge overlooking the scenic valley - sit back and soak it in, relive your childhood memories of Wisconsin supper club dining. We confirmed our reservations with Sonila, our congenial hostess this Saturday evening - and moved to our window table in the lounge, where our gracious server, Beth brought us some Wisconsin specialties - Old Fashioneds. Beth noticed our copy of Wisconsin Supper Clubs, "did we make the book" she inquired... yes, "check it out" as we asked her to sign our copy. The Butterfly Club hospitality continued as Sonila escorted us to our table in the main dining room. Jennifer our server was a breath of fresh air, hustling and bustling to keep us and her "tables" well cared for. The Butterfly Club serves a bread basket piled high with hand made dinner rolls and sweet rolls, and slender, crisp "torinese-style" breadsticks - don't fill up on these tasty treats as your meal will most likely require a "box". We found the Soup and Salad a unique twist at The Butterfly Club - the Seafood Bisque was delicious and then complimented with a house salad - nice touch. Tonight she had the pan fried walleye with a perfectly baked potato with chive sour cream. I had the evening's special, prime rib and shrimp served with au gratin potatoes. The food was simply delicious and Jennifer's care and service was as if we were regular clients. Our visit to The Butterfly Club was delightful and delicious. Although Mike was busy in the kitchen, Sonila and Beth took time to sign our copy of Wisconsin Supper Clubs. I would highly recommend The Butterfly Club if you'd like to experience some of Wisconsin's Old Fashioned dining tradition - I know you'll enjoy your visit

The Butterfly Club is amazing. It has the BEST fish fry in the area! The fish fry is available on Wednesdays and Fridays for a bargain price of $8.95. It comes with the largest portion of coleslaw I've ever seen, fresh bread and butter, and your choice of potato. You can get all you can eat pollack or 3 generous pieces of the best cod you'll ever eat. The French onion soup is good and the side salad with freshly ground pepper is great. The restrooms are spotless and smell great. Although some reviewers think the decor is dated, I think it makes this super club unique as it adds to the overall experience. Service is great and there is always plenty of waitstaff on hand. Note - The fish fry price has gone up since I first wrote my review in September 2011, but it is still a good value.

This is a nice place to have a quiet dinner, or to come on a Friday for a hoppin' fish fry. I'm not a fish fan personally, so I can't speak to their fish fry but the rest of the menu is well-prepared and tasty. What really stands out to me is the atmosphere. The supper-club feel is a rare find these days, and the lounge is a classic as well.

I went for the fish fry. For $8.95 you get choice of all-you-can-eat pollock or 3-piece cod, potato and coleslaw served family style. I had the pollock which was excellent. The fries were just average and the slaw was decent. There was no relish try for a place that I thought called itself a supper club (though the words "supper club" don't appear on the website). Very much a supper club atmosphere with a 70s decor and a great lounge. I can imagine people in yester-year hanging out in the lounge wearing pearls and smoking cigars. Unfortunately, you can not eat in the lounge and the dining area is separate from the lounge and not very inviting. When my husband and I arrived, I went to the ladies room and the toilet seat was up. I told him that and he said maybe it was just cleaned. But its the LADIES room, I said. We went there some months earlier and decided not to stay because the place was mobbed. The young hostess asked us to wait before taking our name so she could chat with a friend that happen to walk in. How long would it have taken to take our name? I thought that was really rude and immature. In fact I noticed all the hostesses (and there were several) were very young as opposed to the dining staff. As if a pretty face would entice me to stay. I will go back for the inexpensive and very good fish fry.

The food was good...but the ambiance reminded me of a 70's Style Bar with the Lime Green colored walls....I noticed most the patrons we're also from the 70's too:-) My suggestion is to keep the food the same, but revamp the decor to make it 21st Century.

I grew up eating at "Supper Club's" with my parents and Grandparents. My husband and I have been dying to try this place in Beloit for some time now. Last night was date night and off to The Butterfly Club we went. We changed our reservation time at the last minute and the gentleman on the phone was very courteous and accommodating. I actually let him know that we were first timers and had hoped they would take that as an opportunity to really WOW us. We arrived at our reservation time and the hostess asked us if we would like to go into the bar for a drink before dinner. In typical supper club style we headed to the bar. Yes, it is very dated, but we knew that going into it. The bartender made us both top shelf drinks (Jameson and Grey Goose) and they were stiff and perfectly made. The bar tab was $13 before the tip. We finished our drinks and were immediately sat in the dining room. Apparently there is a dining room with a great view of something.....as we heard many other patrons asking for that area. We never saw it. It took almost 20 minutes for our server, an older lady, to greet us. She stopped at the table for about 2 seconds and asked us if we needed another drink. We were contemplating and she said she would be right back while we decided. Another 15 minutes passed and she finally returned. "Are you ready to order?" One of my peeves. No opportunity to ask questions or develop a friendly rapport. She was very overwhelmed with several other tables and a party of 8 or 10 and seemed frankly irritated that she was being bothered with a 2 top. We told her we were ready to order everything, including our drinks, as we did not want to delay eating for much longer. I ordered a bloody mary and my husband ordered a dirty martini as well as our dinner. Another 15 minutes later and our drinks were served. We were at our dining room table almost an hour before our first course arrived. We both chose the French onion soup. My husband asked for his to be baked. The soup was served in a very small cup....think less than the amount of liquid as a bottled water. It wasn't great. Not well seasoned, not rich at all. Hardly any onions. For the additional $2.49 that we spent for my husband to have his "baked" we should have had another drink. The salads arrived and we were pleased. Incidentally, a bread basket was placed on the table with 2 cinnamon rolls and 2 freshly baked yeast rolls. I do not eat bread but my husband enjoyed the cinnamon roll that he had. The dressings we chose were blue cheese and creamy garlic. The dressings were delicious and the salads were nicely prepared with fresh ingredients Next comes the meal. I ordered the 8 oz Prime Rib, medium rare and the au gratin potatoes. The rib was a perfect medium rare but was not well seasoned or seasoned at all. The potatoes had absolutely no salt and pepper at all. My husband had the 6 oz filet with the 3 fried shrimp. He ordered his steak medium rare and it came out medium well. A different server immediately exchanged it for us. Our waitress never checked back. His replacement steak was perfectly cooked. His potatoes were bland and unseasoned as well. We both used the s&p shakers repeatedly. To the point that I actually salted the au jus that came with my Prime Rib. We were the youngest couple in the place, which we anticipated before we decided to go there. The service was MISERABLE, the food was bland and we will not be going back. Kind of sad.....really had high hopes for The Butterfly Club to be our new go-to place!

Wonderful dinner experience. Don't be fooled by the weird colored exterior and fake palm tree, inside is updated and modern. Awesome bar area with live music on Saturday. Two of us ordered duck--perfectly prepared. Another had scallops-- an ample order of golden fried deliciousness. I ordered the filet mignon, great piece of meat--tender and flavorful. We had oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer--yummo! Prices were reasonable. Service was attentive, although the salad course appeared a little too soon. A very enjoyable experience.

After hearing about this place and its fish fry for years, the wife and some of her family decided to meet up here. The location is out of the way, which I don't mind. We were seated promptly but service was kind of slow and unattentive. The entire table except me ordered the fish fry, and I'm glad I did not. I ordered the duck. As the food came out it looked like any other fish fry, but served family style. I tried a bit of the fish. The batter was soggy, flavorless and all together a failure. My duck on the other hand was pretty decent. A bit to overcooked, but great citrus flavor from the glaze. The dining roome could use a make over too. It has that swanky 80's hotel vibe.

Our family celebrated a birthday with a party of eleven. All were satisfied with the quality of the meal. The waitress was very accommodating and allowed separate checks for each party. Soup AND salad are offered as well as substitutions. Although the food is not five stars the service and vale is.

Good place. Neat environment. I kinda feel like being in a classy 60's environment. The place is known in the area for their food and lots come here for special occasions. Their Friday night fish fry is excellent. I have also had some great pasta dishes. My mom says that their prime rib is great, my parents are prime rib connoisseurs.
