Little Village Cafe, you are quite a gem. I haven't been here in probably 2 years. With this place you were always guaranteed to get a fresh and filling meal. I've had the Black Bean Burrito and the Marinated Chicken Sandwich. Let me say this, the chicken here has been consistently great. I don't know if it's the fact that they possibly use free range chicken? Either way I've always been impressed with the food here and if it had chicken in it, you knew it would be good. Now if you have room for dessert I recommend the Chocolate Mouse Torte, It was fantastic and it's what they're famous for. Go to Little Village Cafe, you will not be disappointed!

Stopped in while traveling and visiting family in Baraboo. Husband had crab-cake sandwich special. He was not a fan and though it was not fresh. He would not recommend this..He WAS a fan of the beer selection! They also have wine and a small bar. I had the goat cheese appetizer and black bean soup. The appetizer had a cup of oil in it! The black bean soup was plain. Dessert was the best part. We had the peach-apple-blueberry cobbler with ice-cream. I would go back and try some different menu items. Cool decor and atmosphere.

Service was good, food was blah! They need a lesson on salt and spices. Ordered their signature dish and it was so bland! Definitely wouldn't return for the food. Really can't understand what all the fuss is about?

Great atmosphere, nice clean restaurant; real nice owner and workers. Service was excellent and food was awesome. If your looking for a decent price great quality meal, go here. We will for sure return the next time in the area.

Food was delicious. Disappointed in the service though. For a bill that was just shy of 100.00 for my girlfriend and I you think that we would be offered dessert and at least come back with coffee. Everything else was ok. It also would have been nice to hear a "Thanks for coming in!" Something like that would have been nice.

After spending the day hiking at Devil's Lake, we stopped at an adventure outfitter for dinner recommendations. The woman instantly recommended Little Village Cafe and even drew us a map. We were initially a little skeptical when she described it as a small place that had burritos and pasta but upon arrival, one look at the menu alleviated all our concerns. We arrived at dinner -time on a Saturday night and all the tables were full. While were would have been happy to sit at the counter, a booth emptied and was promptly cleared and cleaned for us. All entrees here are accompanied with a choice of soup or salad. My date and I both chose soup, as the carrot, ginger, pumpkin, coconut water bisque was too enticing to pass up. The soup tasted as good as it sounded. It was silky and featured a nice blend of spices. For the main course I ordered grilled cod with a cilantro/ginger sauce from the daily specials menu. The fish came seasoned with a moderate amount of sauce spooned on top. It was just the right amount so that I had some sauce on each bite but not so much as to lose the flavor of the fish. It was served with a sweet potato mash, and a mix of sauteed broccoli, spinach, and carrots. My date chose the Moroccan chicken entree from the printed menu. It was served with rice, which I felt was uninspired and bland, and the same veggie mix that my meal came with. The chicken, completely opposite from the rice, was extremely flavorful and my favorite part of the meal. The meal came with 2 boneless breast portions marinated in a cinnamon, cumin, red pepper marinade that rocked my taste buds. The entrees were so delicious that we had to inquire about dessert. All the desserts in the display cooler looked delicious but when told that the recipe was our waitress' family recipe, I couldn't resist. It was a New York style cheesecake with homemade whipped cream on top of mixed berries on top of a cream cheese topping layer. This was easily the best piece of cheesecake that I've had in years. My date had the decadent peanut butter pie which had a OREO crust and was topped with the same homemade whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup. The staff was very friendly and outgoing. They had helpful suggestions regarding the menu items. Overall, I loved the small town attitude that welcomed us as if we had been locals for years. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in Baraboo.

We came here on the recommendations of our hotel and were very pleased with the meal and the service. I had the Caesar's salad with perch topped with a tomato salsa. The fish was cooked perfectly and the meal was light tasting and filling. For dessert the lime torte was a generous size and also appreciatively light in texture and not over sweet in taste, just a solid lovely dessert. I'll let my husband speak of his meal but in summary it was a nice restaurant with a fine eye to detail and taste.

Visited Little Village Cafe again last weekend after the farmers market, and it was still fantastic! We had the goat cheese appetizer (awesome!), and I a terrific salad. Service was great - it is a little gem in Baraboo.

Excellent place buried deep in rural Wisconsin. Near the Dells area and close to a couple of ski resorts near Portage. Great atmosphere and very good food. I had the Moroccan Chicken with Aioli which was excellent. Their desserts were awesome too, especially the Chocolate Torte! Check it out if you are in that area.

I had the chicken burrito and honestly wasn't very impressed. The food was fine but I just expected more after reading all these raving reviews online. The staff was pleasant and courteous, however, and baraboo doesn't have a huge selection of restaurants so may still return in the future.

On a day visit to Baraboo we stopped here for lunch. It is quite the popular small establishment and rightfully so. I had the blackened burger with cumin sauce, which was delicious. My husband had a chicken sandwich that was highly recommended by our waitress, which he really enjoyed. Great menu selection and great service. We should have come here for dinner too. There was a sign for Tapas tuesday with live spanish music... too bad it wasn't Tuesday when we visited.

Must go. I had the Friday chowder. Excellent. Also had ceased salad with salmon. Great place! Next time I am going to save room for dessert. There was a chocolate cake/moose with my name all over it!!!! Seating outside too

We came here on the advice of posters here and trip advisor. I can NOT say enough about how scrumptious this place was. Any bad reviews I read, I can only think the poster just had bad luck and ordered the wrong thing on an off day. First of all, the ambience is wonderful! Even my 4 yo daughter was charmed by the vintage decor and history of the place. Now, when I say "vintage decor" I have to add that it is definitely funky -- you might not expect to get such good food in a place that was (and still is) decorated like an old-time snackshop pharmacy with loungey accents, but there ya go, it's central Wisconsin. One of the servers overheard me asking my 4 yo if she thought the building we were in was old or new, and pointing out the things that made it old, and stopped to tell us a little history about it and show us some old pictures. That was so nice of her! Our own server was extremely pleasant and helpful with the menu. On her recommendation we ordered the most popular items on the menu: for me, a chicken breast marinated in moroccan spices and topped with kalamata aioli and feta cheese. Not spicy, not overly heavy on the sauce or the cheese. Perfect! Even if it hadn't had a single spice on it, I haven't had chicken breast cooked so perfectly in forever. Even the steamed broccoli on the side was delicious. My husband had blackened catfish. I can't remember what sauce was on it, but it was heavenly. My daughter had a kids mac and cheese, which is a unique take on the dish -- not gloppy and not toxic orange. They offer meat selections to be mixed in for $3 and we opted for salmon, but we asked for it on the side. It was a HUGE piece of fish and my husband and I ended up eating half of it because my daughter could never finish that much (it was perfectly seasoned too.) We both ordered mushroom broth soup which, again, was SO darned good....even my daughter loved it and stole all our soup :) We split a small caesar and it was really good too. To top it off, we tried a chocolate mousse cake which I don't think they made there, but it was awesome. The wine selection was great and since we were there between 5 and 7 on a Tuesday, we got $2 off each glass to boot! Even though we were staying 20 mins away in the Dells, if we weren't leaving the next day, we absolutely would have been back for lunch or dinner, which for us is a general vacation no-no, since we always like to try as many new places as possible.

Service was excellent. The interior was clean and delightful. The menu was plentiful. We loved our entrees, chicken pesto sandwich and the tortellini. We saw the chef unmold the specialty dessert; chocolate mousse cake. We will definitely be back.

This is the type of place that makes eating out a real treat! We were at the International Crane Foundation and asked an intern for a recommendation for good (i.e. non-chain) Mexican food and she recommended Little Village Cafe. Off we went, only to fall into a true gem of a restaurant owned by people with a passion for good food. Not tons of items on the menu, but each was carefully selected. I had the jerk chicken burrito w/mango salsa, and the black bean soup--both were to die for. Others had the shredded sirloin burrito (also very good but the jerk chix was voted by all as the best). We shared a seriously yummy order of grilled cornbread. I can't WAIT to be in the area again to stop in and savor more of the great tastes here and dessert!

While visiting Baraboo for two days, we found The Little Village Cafe across from the Al Ringling mansion. Two lunches and one dinner later, I have had the veggie salad with jerk chicken (very tender breast and lightly flavored), and with curry chicken (very flavorful). My husband loves the Swiss and mushroom burger on ciabatta roll. The juices rolled down his hands. He said he should eat it over a sink... We both had spicy pumpkin soup with lots of curry. Side salad of beets, walnuts and feta cheese (they make it with goat cheese, but Are happy to substitute). My husband had a super rich, double chocolate dessert called a chocolate mousse torte So, that was the two lunches. Back tonight for our last meal in town. The owner already treats us like regulars. Oriental mahi-mahi with steamed veggies. Both perfectly cooked. My hubby had blackened catfish with black beans and rice. Both huge hits. Look out! He's ordering the chocolate mousse torte again!

I've been to Little Village twice in the past few months. I enjoy their menu selections which include pasta, fish and sandwiches. Their appetizers are creative and sometimes can suffice for an entree. I can only give four stars, however, because the restaurant needs to be managed a bit better to ensure a good experience every time. In both visits they've run out of the specials and other key entrees pretty early in the evening. Service is great at the start of the meal but horribly slow at the end when we've sat for 15-20 minutes waiting for dishes to clear and to get our bill. It's a nice place and usually pretty busy. Perhaps they just need to staff up and stock up better.

  • Oliver K.

The tortellini was outstanding and our server offered to add the jerk chicken to it so I would not have to miss out on the other entree I was contemplating. We finished off the meal with cappuccino and their extraordinary chocolate torte cake--which was flavored with a bit of brandy among other things. An exceptional weekend lunch experience and one we would easily repeat.

Loved it! Stopped in on the way home from a weekend of camping at Devil's Lake. Super friendly staff (even though we had a cranky baby), great food, big portions, and cute decor & ambiance. A little more expensive than a basic lunch spot, but all the made-from-scratch food was worth it!

We were in the area to do some hiking and stopped in to the Little Village Cafe for lunch. We LOVED the vintage look of the place- and it's in a beautiful old building. The service was very good, our waitress was very friendly and cheerful. We arrived around 11 and the place was pretty quiet, but by the time we left it had filled up both inside and in the outdoor seating area. We ordered the crab cakes to start and I have to say this was the most disappointing part of our meal. At $11 we figured there would be 4 of them, but when they arrived it was just 2 sad looking cakes on a small plate with some dressing. The outsides were crispy in some spots, but overall we found them to be soggy and they were completely overwhelmed by the sauce. We would definitely not order these again- they were way overpriced and just not very good overall. I had the curry chicken salad and it was delicious. It had two kinds of dressing on it- one that was (obviously) curry flavored and another one that tasted a little horseradish-y. Together they were really good. My only issue is that there was a little bit too much dressing- it completely drenched everything and masked the taste of everything else. This could be easily remedied by just ordering the dressing on the side. The other issue is that they did what so many restaurants like to do and put the salad on a smaller plate. I suppose this is to make it look like there's more food, but in reality it just makes a salad really hard to eat because you can't mix in the dressing without flipping lettuce all over the table. The only alternative is to end up with a TON of dressing on the top and nothing on the bottom. Just put it on a bigger plate or in a bowl! My husband had the taco salad with chicken and said it was really good. He had the same complaint about the size of the plates, especially because with all the toppings, his salad was pretty tall, so eating it was like playing a game of culinary Jenga. Overall, we thought the food (minus the crab cakes) was really good, though the prices were a little on the high side for what you get. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Back in the day, Little Village Cafe was on King Street in Madison - just up the street from where I worked at the time. They had a burger - the Blackened Burger - that a co-worker of mine dubbed "The Parking Lot Burger" because it resembled a chunk of asphalt. It was sssssooooooo yummy - and I ate many of them before the owners closed the King Street location to focus on their outlet in Baraboo (which, as I recall, was where they lived). Despite knowing there was still a Little Village not far from Madison, and having driven past Baraboo umpteen times in the intervening years, I had never actually eaten there. The timing was never right/we were on our way somewhere else and were in a hurry/it was too far off Highway 12, etc. Happily, that situation was remedied a few weeks ago. My dad and I had been on a little family genealogy tour in the Dells/Lake Delton/Baraboo area that day and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try Little Village for lunch. Eureka! The Blackened Burger is still on the menu! I ordered it medium rare and it was perfect - less asphalt-y than of old, but every bit as tasty. The tortilla chips that came with it were from a bag (Tostitos, I think), but I didn't care. It just made the burger the star. My dad also really liked the soup of the day - a very tasty seafood chowder. And being Wisconsin, we were able to get Spotted Cow to accompany our lunch. He especially loved that, since it's impossible to get in Arizona (where he lives). The space is cute. It retains all the charm of an historic diner - including a double-curve counter with vintage swivel stools. (According to a sign in the ladies room, it also retains the original plumbing.) And huge points for the staff member who saw that my dad left his baseball cap in the booth we occupied - and chased us down on the street to return it. It saved us a lot of time - since I'm sure he would have insisted on going back to retrieve it. (He would have noticed when we stopped at Wollersheim Winery and the sun was in his eyes.) So thanks, Little Village - for the yummy lunch and the act of kindness.

Little Village Cafe on the square in Baraboo is quaint, full of charm, hospitality, and delicious food. "She" had the Black Bean burrito and I had Blackened Catfish dinner - both were excellent. Deliciously spiced, not overbearing, but fresh and tasty. Dining on New Year's Eve at the Little Village Cafe was a perfect compliment to our day - thanks to the staff for always being friendly and attentive and delivering great food, the old fashioned, Wisconsin hospitality way! Happy New Year. Always great to see the "home town" restaurant busy and vibrant.

We visited this restaurant last October based on the great reviews. It was fine but nothing special. We are not certain why there are all the wonderful reviews. We do not think we will be back since the food was fairly basic!

Service is super-nice! Food is absolutely wonderful. I'd suggest the jerk chicken burrito. Be sure to save room for dessert--their homemade pies are amazing! Prepare to walk out stuffed and satisfied.

I hesitate to give it 5 stars because I want it to be my own hidden gem, but 5 stars it is. The food is fabulous. Actually tastes like real food with real flavor from spices and herbs, not just salt. The selection of food should please everyone, but be prepared to take home leftovers. The burritos are huge. Oh, and the portabello mushroom sandwich... TDF. I recommend starting with the goat cheese appetizer. And not only is the food fabulous, but the atmosphere is great. Very quaint and historic. Try it. You won't regret it.

Good looking restaurant from the inside. Looks like it stepped out of the 50s. Very cute & eclectic. Staff was great. Service was prompt & friendly. Started out with the warm goat cheese with peppers/capers & oil. Had Caesar salad & house salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Both dressings were delicious. Hubby had pesto penne which he liked the pesto sauce. Said it was different & excellent. I had the penne with marinara & ground sirloin. The sauce itself was a bit bland for me, but the sirloin used was killer. Very good quality ingredients. and they have FULL BAR!!!

We came here based on the Yelp reviews and I have to say the Yelpers were not wrong on this. Great ambiance, phenomenal service, and fantastic food. My inlaws are visiting from outside of the United States and absolutely love this place. We met with some of the local patrons had great conversation and the surrounding area is a phenomenal little place to shop. Truly this restaurant and this area are some of the highlights of our vacation. I have the fish tacos, we also had the signature chicken dish, as well as a catfish meal. All of the food was great! It's well worth the 15 or 20 minutes drive it will cost you to get here

Our 3-generation lunch party of 4 had the daily special burrito and one of the substantial salads. The food was good and tasted properly of its ingredients. The ambiance is friendly and pleasant; our 8-month-old dining companion was quite fascinated by the lights, the colors, and the constant but not noisy activity. Incomparably superior to the dispiriting fast food alternatives all around; well worth a few minutes' dogleg off the freeway between Madison and Minneapolis.

Hubby had Cheese steak sandwich and the bread was hard, not sure if stale or overcooked. I had the Jerk Chicken Burrito and it was ok, nothing spectacular or to rave about. And, they Do Not serve breakfast!!

You have know way of knowing the drinks unless you talk to your server. No napkins until you get your meal and no condiments on the table. Men's bathroom us hidden. No dessert menu so you have to remember what the server tells you. I had the hummus and the garlic was overpowering. My girlfriend had grilled tuna and it was undercooked, when she mentioned it the server had it tossed back on the grill after she ate some!!! That right there made me loose my appetite now knowing the grill was contaminated. Not going back

I enjoyed the Little Village Cafe. They are loud and proud of their staying ability in the restaurant industry. I recommend this restaurant if you are leaving the Dels and want a nice non-pizza/non-bbq meal. I ordered a southwestern chicken with cumin sauce burrito, and I enjoyed it, The cumin sauce is delicious, and they know how to fill a burrito. I also tried some of my friend's pesto pasta. I was less impressed with the homemade sauce, as it was super salty and creamy. The restaurant is small, so only come here with a small group. The decor is charming. The wait staff was not that inviting and threw around a lot of dates for no reason. They told me how long the owner had the restaurant, how long certain items were on the menu, and how long they were working, and no one in my party asked. I was a little confused by it. I don't know if they were trying to brag or just inform us about the history of the restaurant. This unnecessary lesson combined with the poor attitude of the staff put a damper on the experience. Anyway, the food is solid for the location. I wouldn't go out of the way for it, but the food is good if you're in the area.

Moroccan Chicken Wrap and Angel Hair Pasta Pesto with Shrimp and Veg. I'd come back just to get the Moroccan Chicken Wrap. So good. Nice spice but not overpowering and the greens and feta ground it. Yum!

My sisters and I were on our annual sisters vacation. Every year has to be special. Not just regular special..... I mean "Special" "Perfect" "Awesome"!! We really wanted to find a restaurant that was worthy. Because a couple of years ago the doctor that was trying to bring my sister back to life decided to try to defib one more time! Now she is here with us!! So now you understand the kind of quality we needed. We got it!! I ordered the Jerk chicken. Seasoned just spicy enough to wake my mouth up but not overpowering. Mango salsa and sweet potato mash were exactly what this dish needed. I didn't want to get full because i wanted to sit there and eat that forever!! But I couldn't eat that forever because there was dessert. Made right there from scratch! I got the carrot cake. Best I ever had in my whole 58 years of existence! I really mean it!! I wish I lived closer. I will go back to Wisconsin, even if the only thing I do is go there and eat.

It's too bad I'm from Ohio, I would live in Wisconsin for the food alone (the scenery is gorgeous too). I have yet to be disappointed by a meal here, and my stance is unchanged after eating at this little cafe. The delicious jerk chicken burrito I received here is a perfect supporter of my "Wisconsin has delicious food" generalization. This burrito was huge. It was stuffed with fresh ingredients to about Chipotle size, but it wasn't TOO large. There was about as much cheese stuffed into this baby as you would find atop a personal pizza, and since this is Wisconsin the cheese was of the highest quality. There was a lot of black beans but they didn't necessarily only occupy one half of the burrito, as you may have come to expect from a burrito. There was some rice too, and the rice (something was added to it, I couldn't tell what), beans, and cheese provided an excellent canvas for the flavors of the star ingredient, the jerk chicken, to flourish. I don't know what exactly jerk spice is composed of, but this tender chicken was sweet (somewhat cinnamony) and a tad spicy. I don't know how exactly to explain the flavors, but you'll have to try it for yourself. This whole big burrito was topped with a spectacular cilantro salsa and fresh mango salad. If you find yourself in Baraboo, Wisconsin, eat here for sure.

Baraboo's a nice little city to stumble on. Home of the circus. It's cool, you drive through these little neighborhoods then hit a 2 street downtown. This is the local "go to" spot I heard, had to try it. Great lunch drink menu and the salmon was A-okay. Right on cue with reviews, this place is awesome.

If you are making a trip out by baraboo I would definitely make a stop here. Me and my friends went snowboarding and stumbled apon this place for lunch. They really put a different twist that tastes great. Awesome food and good service. I would go out of my way to stop here again.

Kelly, the reviewer who is torn about Little Village, took me here for lunch after a morning in the Dells, and I had a great time. Located on the downtown square, this is a great example of a old store front restaurant that's still in use. The winding soda-fountain seating and tin-tiled ceiling gives the place a step-back-in-time feel. I had a pesto chicken sandwich, and it was solid. Nothing I'd drive back up there for, but I will definitely stop in the next time I'm in Baraboo.

I recently traveled to Baraboo, WI to run 50k through poison ivy infested woods, unforgiving boulder fields, and unforgettable ski slopes. The night before all runs, I am nervous and frightful. Will I make it? Will I bonk? Will I poop my pants? With all of these jangling nerves coursing through my body, I needed a restful dinner, and thanks to Yelp, I discovered The Little Village Cafe. This place is the deal. The realest deal. Baraboo itself kind of reminds me of how Hill Valley looked in the Back to the Future opus. It seemed like the 1950's, save for the large cars, larger people, and Harry Potter at the cineplex. The Little Village is located on a downtown corner and has an old-style diner decor, along with pet friendly outside seating. The menu itself definitely trends towards upscale with numerous pasta, fish, and poultry/meat dishes. They also had sandwiches/salads for something lighter. The service was prompt and my honey ordered up a local beer, she was having a tough time dealing with how freaked out I get before long runs. She needed to get her drunk on. For dinner, I had a almond encrusted flounder served with mashed potato and fresh veg. It was served with soup or salad, and I chose the vegetarian split pea. My honey-bunny had the moroccan chicken with rice pilaf and veg, and a bowl of tomato basil soup. The entire meal was outstanding, the best I have had in months. I live here in Oswego, IL where TGI Friday's passes as OK food, and so it was unexpected and awesome to find an oasis of gourmet where I least expected it. The flounder was expertly cooked, flaky and delightful to the tongue. The split pea soup was also the bomb. My wife enjoyed her meal equally- the chicken was moist and well spiced and served with some great feta cheese. A few of my fellow reviewers have talked about the inflated prices here, and at $17 dollars for each, it wasn't cheap per se. I have eaten a lot of food at a lot of places though, and I would have paid $22-25 for this exact meal and still thought it to be awesome. The Little Village is great. It takes a village to calm my nerves before a big run, and this village is really outstanding. Way better than the M Night Shamaylan movie 'the village.'

Great little place in downtown Baraboo. Creative menu with surprising variety - the pot stickers and crab cakes were excellent. Great soups and we enjoyed each of the entrees. What really stood out was the exceptional service by our waitress (Ashley). Cool decor, cozy ambiance and great service - we'll definitely be back!

Sigh. I'm torn. The FIRST time I wandered into the Village Cafe, I was surprised how great the menu was, and charmed by the little soda-fountain area. I got the special which was some type of fish with a delicious saffron rice. Absolutely fabulous, especially for a small town, tiny corner shop. So, of course when my boyfriend and I planned a trip to the Dells and Baraboo, I knew we had to stop. Well... I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Sweet Potato Pancakes...not at all impressed. The pancakes were semi-cold, and pretty much just batter with chunks of potato. The chicken was okay, but nothing brag-worthy...especially considering the price. He had a Chicken Pesto Sandwich, which was fair...but again...no show stoppers here. I guess I'll have to go in again for a tie breaker.

Stopped the first time, last night, @ Little Village Cafe (a Monday night, no less) for a late supper; was impressed. Kind of mixed feelings about the ambience--The place is sort of Yuppie-ish, but there was a table of 7 obvious plain--not Yuppie--locals who were there obviously for the evening, and obviously having a good time. Was impressed with the selection on the menu. Food was better than good; wife had a hamburger, no cheese, and when it was served she was surprised at the large size. It was not as done as she would have liked but she ate it anyway. Good burger except for the degree of doneness. (When she mentioned this later the waitress apologized profusely, and said she wished we'd let her know; she'd have re-done the burger.) With it she had an OK if not spectacular salad, and an excellent tomato bisque soup. I had a bean burrito which was good; appetizer was tortilla chips and a very nice, fresh-tasting salsa, spicy and with large chunks of tomato. I suspect made in-house, but forgot to ask. I asked for a second dish of the salsa to put on the burrito. Waitress offered to re-do the chips as well as the salsa. We were too full to consider dessert, a pity, as the desserts in the case looked xlnt. Cons: Just a little pricey, but only a little. They could do better with their salads. Pros: Nice ambience & decor. Good to very good food. Attentive and helpful waitstaff. 2 tables of outside seating if you want it. Nice quiet place, at least late in the evening. Bottom line: We don't get to Baraboo a lot, but we will certainly consider eating again @ the Little Village Cafe next time we do so.

The best restaurant in Baraboo. A cosmopolitan taste in rural Wisconsin. Ok, Baraboo's not a big town and little village has a limited style of offering but by far, it is the best restaurant in town. Their tortellini is excellent and rich and the burritos are huge and tasty, plan to bring half home for tomorrow. They serve wine and beer as well as some bar drinks. Their coffe is excellent and the malts/shakes are decadent. Their desert offerings are well worth saving some room. If you have a group call ahead as there's very limited space. Enjoy Baraboo's gem of a restaurant.

This was the best and most real restaurant in Madison, a city of much culinary faux bullshit, before they moved north. The jerk chicken burrito is the real deal.

Great little place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but this is a tremendous little gem that seems out of place in Baraboo. Excellent food, would love to have sampled the entire menu but that wasn't possible. Highly recommend this place.

Little Village is our favorite restaurant in Baraboo. Tapas Tuesday is the best. The grilled salmon is awesome. Excellent pesto chicken. And the chocolate mousse torte is to die for. We are regulars at the restaurant and typically go there 2-4 times per month. When you are in Baraboo, it's the must-do restaurant while you are here.

We were in town and stopped here for lunch based on the strength of the cafe's Yelp reviews. We weren't disappointed. We both had different burritos, which were both excellent (not to mention very large). My husband was pleasantly surprised by the bottled beer selection and the service was great.

I shall start with desert, because it's my favorite, and all of theirs are homemade. I have three words. Maple. Pecan. Tort. With chocolate, y'all. It's...it's...well it's food porn. Their menu is surprising for being so eclectic. Their jerk chicken is fantastico, and the Moroccan chicken is tied with it for being my favorite. My fellah had the catfish, notable for not tasting catfishy at all, but was really good. This is my second time there, and the first time the rice and steamed veggies my entree came with were kind of meh, but this time they were high on tasty with no hint of meh at all. The steamed veg was a fresh mix of broccoli, spinach, red and green peppers, carrots and corn, steamed to the point of just being warm and a tiny bit soft. In other words, perfect. As for the other aspects of fine dining, the atmosphere and cocktails? Our server poured like she learned bar tending in New Orleans (this is a good thing), and the place has a really mellow, friendly vibe, and looks like an old school diner and a neighborhood bistro had a baby. I loved it.

I have been here before so I knew the food was good. It is fresh and tasty especially the salsa, I like good salsa. We sat outside and I had a jerked chicken burrito with minuscule amount of mango salsa. My wife had catfish burrito - Yuck! She liked it. We never have room for dessert but they certainly sound incredible. Maybe next time.

My girlfriend moved to Baraboo a little while back and we have been eating out all over town lately. There are some good places to eat in Baraboo, but this restaurant is by far my favorite in this town. The Little Village Cafe is in the square downtown, a perfect place for a nice "little" sit-down restaurant like this. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and happy to see a new face. The inside of this place was small, but very cozy. I asked the waitress what her favorites were and she was so helpful when telling us numerous options. My girlfriend and I ordered the pot stickers for an appetizer and we loved them. We had two delicious entrees as well. The southwestern chicken burrito was great. There was a terrific sauce in the burrito that I couldn't say enough about. The tortellini with sun-dried tomatoes, vegetables and marinated chicken was great as well. The sauce really made for a cohesive savory dish. We purposely had to stop eating our entrees in order to save room for the mouth-watering desserts. I had the Mississippi Mud cake and my girlfriend had a monstrous piece of carrot cake that had to be taken home because it was so large. The desserts made for a perfect end. The only reason I am not giving five stars, is because we had to wait a little longer than expected for our food. By far the best restaurant we have eaten at in Baraboo. I will definitely be returning soon.

Great, cute little restaurant in downtown Baraboo. I tried the perch. Light breaking; moist fish; fantastic veggies, pilaf and bread. Service was great and friendly. Highly recommended. Good as anything we have in the Bay Area.

I love going to local diners when I'm on a road trip to watch the people, get some eats, and get a sense of a place. Little Village Cafe does not disappoint...a truly unique place with tons of charm. I had the southwestern chicken burrito and was quite happy with it.

Wow, this place is fantastic. I wish I spent more time in Baraboo to come in here more often! I ordered the grilled salmon sandwich and a mocha to go. Very good, full of flavor! I also tried my friend's pasta with pesto and mushrooms - yummm! The staff is very friendly. The place has great decorations - very interesting. The dessert case was very tempting... next time :)

Best restaurant in Baraboo. Great service, decent wine list, and great food. Charming vintage diner setting right in the downtown square-- like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life....

My favorite place to eat in Baraboo. Excellent food and great service. This is a smaller family owned restaurant and a nice place for an evening out.

Fabulous little gem! Not your traditional diner or cafe. Creative flavorful food and gluten free friendly. A few of the lunch specials the day we were there where miso-mirin glazed salmon and a flat bread sandwich with jerked chicken and mango salsa. YUMMY!

Burger was ok-ish, but the Moroccan chicken (slightly spiced rice, tender chicken, mixed olives & feta dip) was so spectacular, we drove out of out way to get it again. Found the place through a guidebook. Didn't get utensils with take out, had to ask. Compared to the horrendous food selection in Wisconsin Dells, this was a surprise and a treat. Definitely recommend, and will try to go back to when in the area.

Disappointed. The ambiance, menu, and initial service gave us high hopes, but the food was disappointing on so many levels. My fresh veggie salad was incoherent. Lettuce, broccoli, raw peppers, raw white onions, carrots, and mushrooms topped with an odd salsa containing capers. Garlic croutons, four garbanzo beans and balsamic vinaigrette add to the jumbled mess of flavor. The chips and salsa are typical of cheap grocery store varieties. My mom's burger was seriously undercooked (she asked for medium/well). My kids' pasta with meat marinara was overcooked (the pasta) and flavorless (the sauce). We had to request the remove our app dishes when our entrees were served. The prices were also really high for what you get.
