I decided to do a appetizer cocktail run for my girlfriends birthday celebration. 2 of us. We didn't make a reservation. Just showed up. Sat at the bar. Ordered a pomegranate martini. Ive ordered it before and was beyond delicious. Not this time. Too much lime. Very tart. No napkin. No water offered. Bar was a mess. Was handed a menu. Then told no eating at the bar on the weekend. Was never asked if we wanted to get a reservation. Never asked if we liked the drink. Tables were open behind the bar. Never asked if we wanted to sit there. No remorse for the situation. No empathy. No interaction. It was busy when we walked in at 7:30. By 8:15 we were the only 2 at the bar. I will give it another try. Everyone can have a bad night.

Reuben is amazing! French onion soup was very flavorful, and the shrimp appetizer was grilled perfectly! I've been here a few times for lunch and have never been disappointed!

Legitimately the worst restaurant I have ever been to. It was so loud, my family & I could not visit without yelling. And the food, the food. Expensive and small. I ordered hoisin shrimp and it was literally 4 shrimp with the heads AND tails on (why???) and maybe a half cup of purple rice. That is not an exaggeration. It was the smallest amount of food I have ever seen served in a restaurant. Don't worry tho, it was still plenty expensive! 16 bucks for 4 shrimp (with the heads & tails, did I mention that?). I told my boyfriend right away that we were going to Taco Bell afterwards so I could get some real food in my gut. I cannot imagine anyone eating here & enjoying it. Maybe if it was the first meal that you had ever eaten and you had nothing to compare it to. Just awful, don't go here, go literally anywhere else. Pretentious as hell.

This place is just underwhelming. I wanted to like Rye, I really really wanted to. Unfortunately, after two visits for lunch, I am fairly confident I won't return. The decor really is lovely and on trend, the money put into renovations surely shows. However, the menu is small and pricey. My first visit I had the "Bistro" which is a grilled cheese, salad and cup of soup. The grilled cheese had quality ingredients but was coated in butter. My friend and I ordered martini's that were brought to us only halfway filled. It was lackluster but I was willing to give it another try... I went back today for lunch again, this time I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken (for an extra $6). It was so unbelievably salty, it was almost inedible. I offered my dining companion advice about the grilled cheese and she asked to have less butter on her bread and it was much less greasy. I also noticed a table next to us order Bloody Mary's that came in very small mixer glasses. Hopefully they got what they paid for, but I know they made a comment to the bartender. All in all, Rye has a lot of potential and after the wonderful reviews on the Chef's other restaurants (Chives in Suamico) I had high hopes. The service is okay, but nothing outstanding. The prices are high and in my opinion, not justifiable. If I wanted to pay $18 for a salad and tea for lunch, I wouldn't do it again at Rye.

So yummy. We have been to Chives in Green Bay a couple of times and we're excited to try Rye having just moved to the area. We went out with a friend visiting from LA who is contemplating a move back to good ole Wisco; the food we had may have sealed the deal! Love the ambiance. We splurged on this meal but I could see a casual weeknight dinner of small plates at this spot.

This is definitely a "go-to" place in the valley for drinks. The bartenders are great about putting thought and care into each drink. We've only eaten there once, and I had the medium plate of sauteed shrimp, and my husband had the medium plate of cornish hen. Both were delicious, but I did think they were over-priced (reason for a 4 instead of a 5). Decor is fantastic.

Disappointing. We were enticed by the exciting menu and trendy decor, but the service and food were subpar. The man who sat us was strangely unfriendly. He didn't greet us or even ask how many were in our party. He saw that there were 2 of us and said, "Come with me..." We were one of 4 tables seated in the place so it's not like it was crazy busy. Please note that our server was really sweet. The food was not terrible but not great. The bacon wrapped dates were really good. The tossed salad was covered in so much dressing and cheese that I laughed when it was delivered to our table. It was so doused in dressing that I couldn't eat more than a quarter of it. My husband's beet salad was also very heavily dressed and had a TON of "lemon-infused goat cheese". My scallop entree was fine. My husband's swordfish entree was way too salty. The menu is interesting but the food was not executed well. Considering the high prices, strange service and unreliable food, we will not be back.

RYE - located in the Copperleaf Boutique Hotel in Downtown Appleton was a breakfast treat. We both had the eggs benedict served with lemony smooth hollandaise sauce and seasoned home fries - deliciously crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Our server was efficient and energetic, she made our breakfast comfortable and enjoyable. We enjoyed the rustic decor and the clam shell chandelier. We are looking forward to visiting Chives in Bailey's Harbor during our next visit to Door County. Delicious food, excellent service = 5 stars.

Rye was good. Trendy. The food menu is smaller than the craft cocktails menu. I had a salad and charcuterie. My friend had Lobster Mac and Cheese. All the food was decent, but I would like to see Rye live up to the hype. I will go back again in the hopes of being dazzled.

I'm so thankful that Appleton has a restaurant like this! My friend and I came here for dinner, my first visit, but her fifth. She knew from experience which drinks to order, a Prickly Pear Margarita was my choice. We enjoyed the fresh bread and butter and Chive fries for an appetizer and I loved the Sriracha Shrimp Scampi. We shared the creme brûlée for dessert. I will definitely be back! It was a lovely evening and the food was fantastic!

I thought the food was excellent. Went on a Friday evening. We were served bred (sourdough and rye with an herbed butter) shortly after we were seated. 3 Salads and 3 Entrees was around $100. Priced as expected for a "farm to table, locally sourced" style resto. The Reuben was enough to feed 2 people, and the Fish Fry was delicious. My only negative comment was on our liquor purchase. A bottle of Whiskey we ordered for a drink is $21-$24 a bottle (at most local grocery stores) we were charged $12.00 for a 2 oz. pour on the rocks.. No fancy mixing of cocktails or any special talent was needed. Aside from the overpriced beverage, I have no complaints. The place was busy and from start to finish, 3 of us were there for roughly an hour for dinner. Our wait staff was excellent, even helping me with some food allergy issues. I will come back again and recommend this to everyone.

So disappointing tonight- the first time we went to Rye we had wonderful service and the food was delicious. We have been there 3 more times- and each time the experience has declined. Tonight I took someone there for a special dinner- we ordered our drinks- and gave the waitress our dinner order when she brought our drinks- She never checked on us until our food came out 40 minutes later- my sea bass was so overcooked and it tasted horrible-I sent it back - I did order a small plate that was good- but after being there an hour- the waitress cleared our plates she then asked us if we wanted another cocktail In one hour she stopped by our table only 3 times- very disappointing probably the worst service I have had in what should be an elegant restaurant. This is so sad - I had such great hopes for this restaurant

We loved the food but the service needs coaching!!! If I'm going to spend $25 to $30 for an entree, I expect to be treated well. When we walked in tonight without a reservation, the hostess suggested we sit at the bar and eat there. We happily agreed as the bartenders seemed fun. We sat at the bar and had a drink and when we tried to order, the bartender told us you can't eat at the bar on Friday and saturday. When we told the hostess of her mistake, she was not only unapologenic, she couldn't have cared less. This is unacceptable. I would have loved to give this restaurant 5 stars but based on how the service went down, I reluctantly give it 3. Get rid of the bitchy hostess and hire a wait staff that understands customer service.

Food was absolutely fantastic. The decor is simple but lovely. It is on the pricey side but worth what I paid. I went for lunch and had their special - 3 courses for $16. A crab cake app with arugula salad, small but tasty, a roast beef sandwich with chive fries, this this was piled high with super tender meat and horseradish sauce, and for dessert a frozen yogurt parfait with fresh berries and chocolate ganache. I took half my meal home because there was so much. For a sauce lover like myself, some of the best parts were the sriracha aioli with my fries, the horseradish sauce, and the homemade vinegarette on the salad. The bar and drink menu look great. Overall it is pricey but you get what you pay for and the atmosphere is really lovely.

As someone in the service industry, I was greatly looking forward to finally getting a new staple downtown. After two poor experiences with undercooked food, genuinely terrible service and completely lacking front of house organization, I won't be going back. The only upside was Chris, the bartender, who was really personable and knowledgeable. I'm really hoping they pull this together and rise to their potential.

We went to dinner at Rye tonight with the reservation at 7 PM. We arrived 6:50 were seated, ordered drinks that took 30 minutes to show up. We had ordered our meal at the same time we ordered drinks It took the better part of 45 minutes for dinner to show up. Two of our party ordered steaks one medium one medium rare they both end up being cooked medium. One of our party ordered the RYE burger which is described as a patty melt style burger with cheese and sautéed onions, no sautéed onions came on the burger, and when questioned about it the server said that there was not supposed to be onions on the burger but upon checking the menu there certainly was! During our two hour dinner we were asked once for a second order of drinks. And it is always very disappointing when you go to a restaurant that charges a flat percentage for parties of six or more on their tip and then supply no service to match that rate! The steaks were good quality of meat although cooked incorrectly, the. salads were blah I would not recommend returning

I had no expectations for this restaurant but the write-ups I had read made it sound that I would truly love the atmosphere and food. Love the atmosphere. The bar seems like the place to be due to the bartender, Christopher. Food on the other hand is quite sparse. I understand they are based off of small, medium, large options but even the large is basically a small to medium. Our guest, had a special of scallops and she was presented with 2 small scallops that were the size of a 50 cent piece for $24. Way overpriced in my opinion. There was a sauce but no noticeable vegetable. I asked him if he had tried the specials (fish) "oh, yes, I tried all of them" I asked his opinion and he told me the Corvina fish was a bit fishier fish and the Hawaiian fish was a more meaty less fishy taste. My husband and I had the two different fish specials. Mine was a medium size but was priced at $30+ the same as my husbands. I tried the Corvina, by the way, and it was not even close to being fishy tasting. I actually liked it better than mine because mine had good flavor but had a dry texture. We had 4 $.50 cent discs of beets and I had some small amount of spinach. Come on throw some vegetables in, they're cheap and the customer will feel like they are getting something. Needless to say the price and size will keep me away. I don't mind gourmet size or gourmet price if it's worth it but this was not. The best part is our teenage son had their burger and they ONLY have a seasoned ketchup. We asked for some regular ketchup but was told they only serve that. He unfortunately, only ate a small part of his burger because it was dry with out ketchup and he didn't like the taste of the ketchup. So $14 later we are taking it home. I'm sorry, but you are in a hotel and customers have kids and they will take them to a hotel restaurant whether it is gourmet or not. Our waiter was something to be desired also. We asked him if he could go through the specials. He pointed at the slip that he gave us with the specials and said "I would be here all night going through them but if you have specifics questions I could answer them" Really, your are charging $30+ for your specials and you can't go through them quickly with us? He was also extremely inattentive and we had to grab other people walking through to get bottles of water. We waited quite a bit for our food to come out, but during our wait at least 3 servers came to our table with plates that weren't ours. We ordered two desserts and waited over 15 -20 minutes. It shouldn't take that long for delivery of a dessert. Their people definitely need some training. The wait staff needs to be more attentive and be proud of the food that they are serving and be able to describe it to their customer until they are drooling. Needless to say, we spent $200+ on dinner for 4 people. We had 2 glasses of wine per adult which were priced pretty comparable to other restaurants. We have eaten in a lot of gourmet restaurants in Milwaukee and Chicago and have spent less for 4 people and it was a lot better and a better proportioned entree.
