Not too many Ph places around, so keep on trying different places. First time here... had combo Ph with egg rolls. Quite friendly with family-run feel to the place. Ph isn't as sweet as pho777 and neighboring Ph places in Vietnamese town, Chicago, so I like that about this Ph, but lacks flavors of typical Ph spices. Lacking flavors are substituted with salt! Too salty for my taste. I want to like the place more, but average is all I can say about there Ph and egg rolls.

I ordered Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, and Pho (steak and meatballs). I have been searching for good Pho in the area and made a stop at the Pho House. It is formerly PoohSan. The Spring Rolls had a nice flavor but not traditional. The Egg Rolls were absolutely delicious. They were Hmong style and the three they gave on the plate were plenty for two people. My Pho was very good. They were generous with the veggie plate and the broth was closer to a traditional flavor than other places in Appleton. It is a hole in the wall family place and my total bill with a drink was $13!!! I will be back often to eat the food and support the local family operating the place. I highly suggest at least stopping in for a good casual feast.

From the look inside the building, you know the owners aren't decorators. They don't really seem to care how the restaurant looks; the hallway is a maroon color and the dining area is a gold color. The walls are decorated with images from the menu but it would have been better with authentic traditional designs indicating the culture. Nevertheless, despite their poor taste in decorating, the owner and his wife were always caring and always thanked us everytime they came to check our table. They loved their customers and they are always hardworking and they are always smiling. We always tip them. However, it seem that this restaurant has come under new management. I invited my in-laws to come to this place not knowing. We sat there for 20 minutes; nobody came to greet us or even tell us they'll be right with us. They stopped to clean two tables but never once looked up to greet us or offer us at least water. After they cleaned, they went back to their business in the kitchen and never came back out. I was infuriated and embarrassed because the place has always treated us well and it was not even busy at all. If my in-laws were not there, I would've given them a piece of my mind. I most definitely do not recommend this place and I cannot recommend food under their management since we were not served anything. If I stopped in town again, I am most definitely taking my business to Basil Cafe.

My wife and I stopped by for lunch. She has stopped by with her friends a number of times in the past and says she always orders the pho. We ordered the papaya salad (som tum)...with three peppers as an appetizer. It had good flavor although It was a little on the sweet side. I ordered the pad thai and my wife, the combo pho. The condiments for the pho were already on the table. The waitstaff brought out the mint, bean sprouts and jalapenos. She made her soup to her liking with the contiments...and enjoyed it very much. My pad thai was okay. I always enjoy very spicy food, so I had them make it "Thai spicy". The consistency of the sauce was a bit watery and very sweet, although it did have the tang I always enjoy. It just didn't have that distinct Thai flavor I always enjoy when eating pad thai. I guess next time I will have to try the pho...should have taken my wife's recommendation.

I just moved to Grand Chute about 4 months ago and one day while eating at Fazolis I spotted the pho sign and decided to try it out the next day. I had their combination pho, egg rolls, spring rolls and papaya salad. The pho is one of the best I've tasted in the Fox Valley. Their egg rolls are smaller than the average but still good. I wasn't to pleased with their spring rolls, it was small and didn't have much inside. I really love the papaya salad! It's hard to find a place with constant good papaya salad so when I had this one, I knew this would be my go to place for good papaya salad. Overall, the restaurant is not fancy and big but the owners are both very very nice! I'm a fan of this restaurant and am always going to go there for good pho and papaya salad!

Love their chicken pho and their chicken fresh spring rolls. I ordered an tai iced coffee n loved dat too! Super friendly service but a lil slow:( however them accommodating us made up for it!

While this restaurant offers only a tiny space, with cafeteria style tables and chairs, the owners and servers are very nice and accomodating. Pooh Saan's offers a small variety of southeastern asian food but the star of the show is their Pho. I had never had this dish before, but after trying the pork, the beef and the chicken, I prefer the chicken. Subtle flavors, excellent noodles and the ability to ramp up the cilantro and the lime flavors in this soup, along with having a non-guilty caloric content make it one of my favorite lunches.

I adore Pooh Saan! Not much ambiance for dining in, but great for carry out. The Hmong-Thai menu includes some favorites like pad thai, but also some distinctive dishes you don't find just anywhere, like pho (like soup, but better) and laab (shaved chicken or beef with cilantro, bean sprouts, and spices). Definitely try the laab with the dark sticky rice instead of the jasmine rice -- the dark rice is a dark purplish red, with a rich, almost nutty flavor. Yum! The "egg rolls" here are more like what is commonly called spring rolls in other pan-Asian restaurants -- very light and crispy rice paper wrapped around delicious fillings. What Pooh Saan calls "spring rolls" are very different -- served cool, not fried, with vegetarian innards.

I was at the Fox Valley mall and was looking for a place that had good Pho in the area. Did a quick Google search and found this establishment. The reviews on Google Local noted the pho was the best in town for this place... so I went. :Location & Decor The restaurant is essentially a small store in a strip mall setting. It's located behind a large Starbucks. Once inside, the place has a dark brown accent wall and yellow on the sides. They have large 8x12 pictures of their food items, like spring rolls, papaya salad, and laab... then some pictures of southern home paintings... which seemed to interrupt the flow of the room. :Food & Pricing They have a two page menu, with the majority of it being Pho. There are only two sizes, regular and large. The regular size pho starts at $7.50 and the large size pho jumps up to $10.50. The rest of the menu had nam vaa (or tri-color), chicken/pork/beef laab, papaya salad, some curry dishes, fried rice dishes, & Vietnamese sandwiches. I got the pho Combo, which read in the description "all the meat in the house". When, my wife and I got our bowls of pho, her's being a regular and mine being a large, they were both served in the same sized bowl. The bowl was about 10" in diameter and 4" deep. The only difference between her bowl and mine, was that I had more broth. Same amount of pho. Also, seems "all the meat in the house" were sliced grilled chicken strips (4 pieces), thinly sliced beef (2 pieces), halfed beef meat balls (4 halfed pieces), red sliced pork (2 pieces), & trip (6 pieces). The bowl of pho had yellow onions, scallions, & cilantro in it with their home made beef broth, which seemed to taste like water and beef bullion. As for the toppings, we were not offered lemons, bean spourts, or mint at all. There was no option for forks, chopsticks only, and the other toppings were: sugar, fish sauce, saracha, beef paste, hoisun sauce & red chili paste in chili oil. :Service The establishment is owned by a Hmong gentleman, and he was also our waiter. He was very nice and gracious that we visited. Every time he visited our table, he thanked us for visiting... he visited our table a total of 10 times. Which seems to make sense since the place was completely empty. I'm not sure if going there on a Sunday in the late afternoon attributed to that, but it was empty... He did not pressure or upsale us on any dishes, which I liked since I don't like pushy waiters who always try to upsale and continue to upsale even when you tell them you're not interested. :Last Thoughts I've been to many establishments that serve Pho and most Pho combos that I order have atleast one beef trip, beef flank, beef tendon, beef meat balls, shrimp, & shrimp meat balls. Also they serve a boat of mint leaves, limes, & bean sprouts at the minimum. This placed failed at the condiments and toppings. Also their broth does not have a distinct flavor at all, it tasted like washed down water and beef bullion. I haven't had any of the other dishes, so I cannot suggest that folks go here or not, but I would HIGHLY NOT go here if you want Pho.

Had a very spicy, very flavorful beef laab (chopped beef salad) with perfectly prepared sticky rice on the side. I'll be back. Seems to be a touch on the pricey side for the area.

I don't understand all the negative comments about this restaurant. I've been here a couple times to eat with my family and never left disappointed. They owners are super friendly and seem to really care about the customer. When I do eat here, I order pho and papaya salad. They also gave me the toppings for the pho. The food is average and good. Its not un tasteful or horrible. Everyone makes their food differently, which means not everyone will like it. I don't remember if they have a small menu or not. The place is small but is rarely ever busy, at least when I go, so theres always somewhere to sit. The place is a very small family owned restaurant. If they sometimes have their kids or family members there so what? Sometimes it happens. My family owns a business and sometimes my little brothers have to be there because theres no where else they could be that involves them being watched. Besides its not some overly priced fancy restaurant. Overall average food and good service. Definitely try it out for yourself first.
